After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a … by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

This book was just awesome! I have read nothing like this book, It was full of surprises and romance. At the end of this book you just know that you wont more. Thats why I really recommend this book.
After reading reviews, I decided to give the later books in this series another chance, but Throne of Glass was definitely my least favorite of the series.
This book surprised me by how much I enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the series in the future.
Absolutely loved this book. I’m now on book 6 in the series so full of action and danger, strong characters that you’ll either love or hate. If you’re into fantasy, then definitely worth reading.
I first read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas back in 2015. Thanks to my local library, I was able to read it. Now I have all the books in my home library. I’ve decided it’s time for a re-read (in 2021) since I have the last two books that I never read. I’m determined to read them finally.
Storyline: Celaena Sardothien is an 18-year-old assassin …
18 year old Celaena Sardothien is a prisoner in Endovier. The Crown Prince Dorian comes to make her an offer she can not refuse. Become his champion in a competition or remain a prisoner and slave. Celaena before her captivity was known as an assassin. The most lethal one at that. Resigned to her fate she chooses her shot at freedom. If she wins …
It was ok. Not as good as The Assassin’s Blade, the collection of novellas. In this book Celana devolved into a childish, vapid, quite annoying girl. At times the story got long winded and slow, but it was ok overall.
The female characters are by far a lot more complex and interesting that the male ones, at least for now.
The love interest, prince …

I finally started this. After procrastinating for as long as I could. I didn’t feel like starting a YA series again so soon but here we are. My two fears are: I am going to hate this or I am going to love it to an obsessive amount. Both will destroy me. I am jumping into this 100% blind and I like the feeling, specially because this …
I could not put this book down. I went from laughing to crying and then stright back to where I started, pure amazement. This book was very well written and you will not regret reading it.
Another amazing story that kept me hooked from page one!
When I started this series with The Assassin’s Blade, I knew I was going to be hooked. What I didn’t expect, was for it to become so addicting that I couldn’t do anything else without thinking about it.
My attachment for Celaena goes far beyond that of a reader and a fictional character …
Throne of Glass was a book that was setting on my TBR list for far too long. And I am happy that I finally got to read it. This is a high fantasy world, and I found it super interesting, a bit confusing at times, maybe because I read this one without reading Assassin’s Blade (I plan on correcting that) but not enough for you to get lost in the …
I love this book, and so do all my friends!
The beginning of the best series I have ever read, I hope this series is read by everyone looking for Adventure Romance, and action. I also hope one day this series will come out on a series of movies Just like harry potter did!
As I’ve said before, Sarah J. Maas never fails to entertain me. This series is currently one of my favorites, though the Throne of Glass novelas are darker and have a tad bit more blood and gore than the House of Thorns and Roses series, it still drew me in instantly and I enjoyed the main characters witty yet twisted personality. I strongly …
It’s beautifully written, having something new happen on each page. It’s truly captivating and is a great start to a whole series packed with amazing books.
So a couple weeks ago I finished this series. Now it’s probably one of my favorite book series. The first two are okay, but from the third to the last it just . . . There’s no words for it. They’re great books I read all seven in about a month. Now I got my friend into them too and she really likes them too.
i love it
This book is a great fantasy read. I was hooked from the start and devoured every word. A great read, I really enjoyed it.
Although I’m not a Young Adult, this was one of my favorite series, and this book is how it all began. Not only did the MC have an awesome name, Celaena Sardothien, she is one awesome character. Would love to be her. The author does an excellent job world-building and I couldn’t stop reading. Fantasy, romance, humor, suspense, has it all. …
This was recommended by my niece and I don’t usually read YA unless it really takes my fancy but OMG it’s fantastic.
Not as brutal as games of thrones but it’s epic and fast pace.
Celaena is a assassin that is captured and thrown in a salt mine to work till she died but the Crowne Prince of Adarlan finds her and she is entered into a competition …
