After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a … by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

One of my all time favorites! I love this book and have read a lot of the series. I think it’s so gripping! I like reading about women assassins too, so it’s got the best of everything! Romance, spying, fighting, and so much action! I like that she has real emotions and thoughts too though. This series always sucks me in!
i think the age limit SHOULDN’T be 16+. now i can’t read the last 2 books
The whole series is twisted and SO unpredictable. I absolutly loved the book and how there was always more to the story. Those little details you dismissed end up being important in the future. Just read and weep…
It was incredible. One of the best books i have ever read!!!
Sarah is one of my favorite writers! Very well written and an intriguing story line.
OMG!!! This book series is my absolute favorite! I recommended this for all of my friends and family!!! I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!
This was a good story, a bit hard to believe considering the girl’s age. But overall I enjoyed it, now I’m off to read book two.
This book was nothing like I expected it to be. I figured it would be your typical dystopian girl-overcomes-the-screwed-up-world story, but this was so much more than that. This book delivers surprise and more anticipation with every chapter.
This started out slow for me but I eventually got into it. In Throne of Glass, we meet Celaena Sardothien, an assassin. We find her as a prisoner when she is given an opportunity to go through a series of test to become the King’s Champion. While it was an interesting concept it was slow in parts. I felt we didn’t get to see her full potential …
I appreciate the way Sarah J. Maas writes her female characters. She’s not big on damsels in distress. Her ladies, whether protagonist or antagonist, have skill sets that make them a force to be reckoned with. Celaena is an assassin, and when we meet her she has been serving time in a prison camp, working in the mine. Celaena is snarky, sarcastic, …
Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars
I was really expecting to love this as much as I love the ACOTAR series. But I still really enjoyed this book.
Celaena is an assassin who is chosen by the crown prince, Dorian, to fight to be the King’s Champion. She only accepts because she can receive her freedom after four years of service to the king. She and others …
All I can say is love it !
This series has been excellent all around. My son got me interested in it first. I have recommended it to my sister and all of my reader friends. I look forward to every new installment. Every time. She is an excellent writer!
This is an awful book. I reviewed it on Amazon a while back. A promising premise is mired in horrible prose and insipid characters. I hated it!
I love this book and series. I’ve read it for 4 times now and if I wanted to, I would tell EVERYONE about this book. The first book may be a bit weird and hard to understand but if you read the rest of the series, you’d absolutely love it. Throne of Glass series is the best I’ve ever read. It’s an absolute original and the characters are totally …
Meh, girl drama, love triangle, YA with mediocre writing at best. I often enjoy YA, but estimate this targets young teen girls and no one else. The main character is supposed to be VERY clever, but she doesn’t do anything remotely clever in this book. She does get snuck up on or startled a number of time which seems out of character for a …
This was the first book in the series. I really enjoyed it. It brought a bit of her past life in while not giving away anything. There was a slight touch of romance but it didn’t over wash the book.
This book was phenomenal. I fell in love with it almost immediately. The drama, suspense, and the urge of wanting to know what happens next is the best feeling when it comes to turning the page. The romance conflicts, action, suspense, and fantasy all roll into one amazing original by Sarah J. Maas. A must read that I cannot wait to share.
I loved this book. It was not what I was expecting and as the story continues into the following books there are many twists and turn! I would highly recommend this book to any fantasy lover.

I read the Assassin’s blade first and it made me get into the story. I was also curious to see where the story would go and I was not disappointed at all. The book starts of a bit slow, but the pace gets …
