From the author of the “breathtaking, bone-chilling work of psychological suspense” (Cristina Alger, USA TODAY bestselling author) Her One Mistake, comes a riveting new suspense novel about three ambitious women whose lives are turned upside down after a horrifying fire threatens to expose a tangled web of lies. Laura has returned to work at Morris and Wood after her maternity leave, only to … work at Morris and Wood after her maternity leave, only to discover that the woman she brought in to cover for her isn’t going anywhere. Despite her close relationship with the agency’s powerful CEO, she feels sidelined–and outmaneuvered–as she struggles to balance the demands of work and motherhood.
Mia was only supposed to be a temporary hire at Morris and Wood, but she’s managed to make herself indispensable to everyone. Everyone, that is, except Laura. If people only knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not want her to stay.
Janie gave up everything to support her husband and the successful agency he runs. But she has her own dark secret to protect…and will go to any lengths to keep it safe.
With her signature “chilling, captivating” (Megan Miranda, New York Times bestselling author) prose, Heidi Perks weaves another bone-chilling and unputdownable thriller in the vein of Watching You and The Couple Next Door.

Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks
Laura goes on maternity break and thinks she’ll be able to walk right back in to the job she had at the advertising agency before she left but Mia has a different idea. Janie is married to the owner of this agency and thinks Laura is having an affair with her husband. All three women are perfect liars and their stories are all entwined in ways that noone knows….good story and premise, little slow at times but overall an enjoyable read. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this book and letting me leave my opinion.
The book begins with a building burning to the ground, and someone who set the fire watching it. Then the rest of the book tries to get you to guess who set the fire and their motive for doing so.
There are 3 primary suspects:
1. Laura Denning – new mom, returns to work to find that her largest account has been pulled from her
2. Mia Anderson – supposed to be a temp account director, but she is holding something
3. Janie Wood – CEO’s wife, no longer in love with her husband
All three of these women have motive, but who set the fire.
There are a lot of clues and twists set forth in this novel to keep you guessing, but some of it was too obscure. I didn’t like the constant guilt that Laura felt for being a working mother. I thought that was way overdone. I also thought it was unbelievable that a 3 story 5 year old building could burn so completely and so quickly. I also didn’t find it credible that the person who committed the crime could pull it off.

Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks gave me serious Pretty Guilty Women vibes, and I love that it alternates between three women while also having police interviews mixed in. This combination kept me glued to the pages and I really liked all of the women’s stories. I listened to the audio which is narrated by Sara Poyzer, Rupert Farley, and Olivia Darnley. The narration was completely on point, and I really enjoyed the audiobook which means I definitely recommend it!
Three Perfect Liars is basically a suspenseful mystery and there were also some social issues thrown in. At one point I even teared up a little bit, so it was nice that it also evokes emotion. It also felt a bit like a domestic drama which was a nice touch as well. I like when authors can mix up genres in a book and it kept things interesting for me. It is quite the page-turner, and I finished the audio in just a couple of sittings. The ending seemed a bit like something I have read before, but it still surprised me, and I was satisfied with it. The book also randomly switched between past and present which did get a little confusing but overall I was able to keep up. I would recommend to fans of suspense and who liked the formatting of Pretty Guilty Women.
This book moved very slowly for me. I tried very hard to love it like others do but it seemed to fall a bit short for me. The one thing that I dislike so much about books is transcripts between chapters and this one had them. They play an important role in the story but still, I don’t like reading them. I would rather they just be in the book like the rest of the story. Not a conversation between the DI and person of interest. That said, this book was not as good to me as I had hoped it would be.
We have Laura, Mia, Jane and Jane’s husband Harry. Laura went on maternity leave and had hired Mia to be a temp until she returned. But when she returned Mia was still working and was hired full time. Given a job that belonged to Laura too. A huge account and it left Laura a bit upset. It would have anyone.
Jane gave up her career for her husband. Moved and became a full time wife and mum. She’s a bit resentful towards Harry. She has a lot of secrets that will come to light.
Mia, conniving, Mia. Who is she and what exactly does she want? Why did she take this job in the first place. I didn’t like her and rightfully so it seems. Actually it was hard to like any of these characters. They were selfish in many ways, except when things were done that needed to be done for a very good reason. You will have to read this one to find that out though. I won’t give anything away.
There’s a fire at Morris and Wood. Someone is in the building. You will be trying to figure out who started this fire and why. What motive did they have and was murder at the top of their list? You’ll hear from several people about what led up to this night. Different POVs and timelines. Transcripts from employees as taken by the DI. You’ll think you figured out who did it and you may. I won’t say it’s impossible because it’s not.
This story would have been such a good one if not for the transcripts that I personally hate to see in books. I know it’s most likely just me and others love it. I won’t in any way say don’t read this one because you may love it where I didn’t. It definitely was not the worse book I’ve read but it was by far not the best. It was just ok!
Thank you to #NetGalley, #HeidiPerks, #GalleryBooks for this arc. These are my own true thoughts.
I give it a 3/5 stars and recommend you read it for yourself and decide what you think. I will read more by this author.
For me, this book was a thought-provoking suspense thriller. The theme seemed to be that lies will catch up to you eventually. Laura was on maternity leave and just returns to work at the ad agency, only to find that her temporary replacement has usurped her job. Laura was the character with whom I sympathized the most because of her struggle to balance her career and motherhood and her fury at Mia for taking her job. If the whole story had been about Laura, I would have been fine with that. However, there are three liars. The second is Mia, the engaging and charismatic young woman who has stolen Laura’s position in the agency. Although Mia has home responsibilities, too, since she is the caregiver for her mom and her sister, she was not a very lovable character to me. She was just too much…too friendly to all of the other employees, too satisfied with herself for taking Laura’s job, and just too much of everything for me to like her. Finally, there was Janie, the boss’s wife who used to be a defense lawyer and has given up her job to get away from something that happened in court. Janie was okay as a character for me, but not particularly deep enough. I didn’t feel that I really got to know her. So, three women, a fire that burns down the company, someone dead in the fire and the police are called in. I really enjoyed the way the POV switched from woman to woman, but my favorite was at the end of each chapter with one of the women, there was a police interview. The revelations were mostly given in the police interviews, or at least that was my thought as I read. Actually, the revelations were being made slowly all along, with some strange twists and a surprise ending. I really did enjoy how the book was written, but I did think that the reveal was too slow and the story could have wrapped up earlier without a lot of the extra details. Fans of suspense thrillers will really enjoy this book, but be prepared to be shocked at the end!

If you are looking for a book that you will not be able to put down pick up Three Perfect Liars. A true page-turner I was hooked from the first words to the last. Excellent characters, ton of suspense, and plenty of twists and turns along the way!
4 stars
Attention getters are important to a good thriller. Three Perfect Liars does not disappoint! Our story opens with three women standing across the Lymington quay watching the offices of Munson and Wood burn to the ground and firefighters carrying out someone in a body bag.
The story moves starting eight weeks before the fire alternating between the viewpoints of the three women. Janey was a former defense attorney and now she is a stay-at-home mother whose husband is Harry Wood. Laura is a chief account representative for Munson and Wood who returned to work after having a baby, and Mia who was hired by Laura to temporarily fill in for her.
I loved how the author interspersed many problems that women face in the work environment from guilt of the stay-at-home mother, guilt for returning to work, jealousy in the workplace, sexual harassment….. Heidi Perks created a fast-paced story dropping hints along the way. I enjoyed the police interviews interspersed between chapters as the author moves us forward in time to the actual fire. I kept thinking I had figured out what happened along the way; however, I was surprised in the end. I would like to have had an epilogue (maybe five years later) to check in on these characters. My thanks to Gallery Books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Three women, one man, and then a fire that burned down the entire building two of the women work in.
We meet Laura, Mia, and Janie.
Laura had a high profile position and even worked on her advertising campaign while she was on maternity leave. When she returns, she finds Mia has taken over the entire campaign and her desk.
Mia is a temp now turned permanent and loved by the office staff and her boss. Mia is doing a marvelous job on the campaign that Laura was in charge of, but she keeps something secret about why she needed and wanted this job.
She doesn’t tell anyone about her personal life or where she lives because she lies about that.
Janie is the wife of the owner of the company where Laura and Mia work, unhappy in her marriage, and has something from her past she would like to forget.
The building where Laura and Mia work was a building no one wanted in the city before it was even built. When it burns down with one casualty, was it arson or just an accident?
There is jealousy, hatred, and a sinister undertone from the opening page…all good traits for a thriller.
You will be on the edge of your seat every time you see Laura and Mia together battling things out in their minds and wondering just what could really be the reason for this tension between the two women. Sure it is work, but there seems to be something else.
And then the party at Harry’s happened – it got loud as Laura let loose on Mia and called her a liar.
THREE PERFECT LIARS was quite tense and oh so good.
If you enjoy not knowing what is really going on with the characters because you know something is….
….if you enjoy knowing one of the characters is the biggest fake and troublemaker and everyone is not seeing it….
….if you enjoy knowing the characters don’t seem to be who they really are and know most are hiding something, telling lies, and have secrets, then this book will check all the boxes. 5/5
This book was given to me by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The offices of Morris and Wood have been engulfed in a fire. It is unclear how it started or if anyone was killed or injured.
Harry Wood is the CEO of the office. He started the business in London but decided to build a new building by the coast. Many residents were not happy about it as they felt it detracted from the town’s appearance
and people’s view. Harry is married to Janie, a former defense attorney, and has two daughters. Janie stays busy with the girls’ activities and meeting up with friends. She seems to be afraid of someone but we don’t know why.
Laura Denning has worked at Morris and Wood for years and is very accomplished. When Laura became pregnant, she hired Mia to temporarily replace her while she was out for 6 months maternity leave. Laura’s husband, Nate, is staying home to care for their son, Bobby, while Laura brings in the money. When Laura returns, she finds that Mia, who had agreed to just be temporary, has become indispensible and has not only been hired on permanently, but has taken over the big account that Laura was always responsible for. Laura is livid and begs Harry to let Mia go, but he refuses. Now, Laura must make do with other minor accounts as she continues to seethe. Mia is very outgoing with the other employees who seem to love her. Laura tries to take on more work and hours only to find that she does not get home until very late. Nate is very unhappy about it and she is not spending time with Bobby.
When Harry and Janie host an office party at their home, fireworks break out between Mia and Laura causing quite a scene. This is is one thing that makes people wonder who is truly guilty when the Morris and Wood offices burn. When the culprit is revealed, by that time I had guessed it. However, I did not like how it ended. Too much sacrifice.
I enjoyed the story as it went along. Laura comes across as a total nut case, almost narcissistically impressed with her own abilities. Mia appears to be sane which makes Laura look worse. I wondered why Janie had chosen to leave her career and become a stay at home Mom. Nate is a wonderful man that any woman would love to be married to.

Well this book was interesting to read. I did not want to put it down once I got into it. There are points in the book were I was frustrated because I wanted more explanation about something but it was skirted around. By the end of the book it made complete since why the author did that. All three of these women have secrets, fears and emotional problems. I liked how the author went back and forth between the interview with detectives and what happened two months before up to the fire. I would read another book by this author. This book kept me fully engaged and wanting to know more.
*I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion*
Three women caught up in a world shaped by men and keeping secrets. As they work against each other they are only endangering themselves. It is a twisted tale of trying to figure out who the culprit is and what the motivation is for what they are doing. By using a reverse timeline the author build the tension in spades as the reader turns the pages.
Thoughtful presentation of the dilemma of whether to stay-at-home or go back to a high flying career. You can never really have it all but should you try? And what about the fallout? Each of these three women are complete individuals who have their own stories and problems. They are The Three Perfect Liars. Easy read with twists and turns along the way.
Heidi Perks does an excellent job of pacing, compelling readers to read on in this entertaining whodunnit. As the book opens, Morris & Wood, a successful advertising agency, is a blazing inferno and someone is watching it burn to the ground.
The story is told from the alternating POVs of three women and through trancripts of interviews conducted by the detective assigned to investigate the fire.
Laura Denning, an account director at Morris & Wood, returns from maternity leave to find that her temporary replacement seems to have made herself quite at home during her absence and has no plans of leaving. Stunned, Laura appeals to her boss, Harry Wood, and discovers that she no longer seems to have his ear as she did before. Already feeling torn between home and work, she finds herself in the unexpected position of having to prove herself again to get meaningful work assignments. This leaves her reeling. Hurt and angry, she’ll do what it takes to get her replacement fired and regain control of her clients. The more obsessed she gets with this, and the longer hours she works, she realizes that she is putting her marriage at jeopardy. Something’s got to give. What will it be?
Mia Anderson, the replacement, has a hidden agenda from the start. She plays up to staff and clients alike to get her closer to her true goal. She puts on a good show of being friendly and interested in others, but no one really knows her as they think they do. What is she after?
Janie Wood, Harry’s wife, gave up a powerful job as a defense barrister in London to follow him to New Forest where he fought the locals to build his new and stunning office building. She has tried to keep busy and be content with caring for their two daughters, Lottie and Ella (who attend a private primary school), her friends in the coffee club, and her yoga, golf, and mindfulness lessons. But, truth be told, she feels as if she is not using even 1/5th of her potential and her resentment adds yet another issue to her looks-perfect-on-the-outside but unhappy marriage.
Everything comes to a head at the annual party Harry and Janie Wood host at their home for Harry’s staff. It is a night that the attendees won’t forget. Days later, the fire occurs. Whodunnit?
I enjoyed how the author takes the reader back and forth in time, detailing events before the fire through the voices of the women, and after the fire via the interviews transcripts. All of the characters are realistic and fully human with both flaws and redeeming qualities. Read and enjoy!!
My thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for allowing me to read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Three Perfect Liars:One Deadly Secret by Heidi Perks was a suspenseful book. There are three very different women. Janie is a stay at home mom that at one time had been a defense barrister and her husband is the boss at the company where Laura and Mia work. Laura is a new mother and when she returns to work she finds the temporary hire, Mia, has been hired permanently and seems to be eyeing Laura’s position. And then there is Mia. Mia is an enigma. Something is off about Mia and Laura is going to find out what her secret is. There is a fire at work and the three women are people of interest in the arson, attempted murder and murder. This book held my interest and I was wondering what was going to happen and who this people were and if there was some kind of connection. I would definitely recommend this book. ARC
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for an excellent psychological thriller. The comments and review are my honest opinion.
Secrets and obsessions cross the line into revenge in this book by Author, Heidi Perk. Three women watch as a building burns and a life is claimed. This isn’t any building, it is a building that has a hold on each of them.
Written in a time line of interviews before and after the fire, it is suspenseful and twisted with an ending I didn’t expect.
Three Perfect Liars starts off strong with a major fire at the building of a well known ad agency and the flames can be seen for miles.
Across the quay our unknown culprit wonders what she has done.
We know two bodies are pulled out but the police wont comment .
Three women all with potential motive, all with their own demons, are present .
The story is told from before the fire and what has lead up to the conflict between the women.
The pages fly by, who is guilty, I changed my mind several times.
The ending comes with a twist that keeps the lights on more chapter.
A great read that makes you think and hope no one will interrupt you before you get to the end.
Thanks to Net Galley and Simon and Schuster Canada, Gallery Books for a thriller of a read!!

Ominous, slow-burning, and secretive!
Three Perfect Liars is a compelling, malicious, character-driven thriller that takes you into the lives of three main characters. Janie, a big-city defence attorney, turned stay-at-home mom; Mia, a temporary employee with a hidden agenda; and Laura, a new mom returning to work where her replacement seems to be bound and determined to steal her job.
The writing is tight and tense. The characters are consumed, secretive, and troubled. And the plot told using a mixture of narrative, police interviews, and alternating timelines, before-and-after the fire is a suspenseful tale full of well-timed twists, unforeseen surprises, deception, insecurities, lies, obsession, manipulation, violence, arson, and murder.
Overall, Three Perfect Liars is an addictive, clever, tortuous tale by Perks that highlights the complex relationships that exist within a company and reminds us that revenge often has no limits.
