I loved this book. Excellent protagonist and other characters. Great fore shadowing. There is action and light erotica. ATTENTION SUSAN: YOU ROCK
Three of a Kind is book number 4 in the Drift series. Though the book could potentially stand on its own (it rehashes enough history you wouldn’t be lost), it really should be read as part of the series. The characters from the previous books all play parts here and the overarching story-line continues within. And why wouldn’t you? They’re fun too!
This story follows Dr. Alyson Jefferies whom we met a few books back and the three cyborgs who have fallen for her. She’s the Drift’s main doctor and runs the clinic there with a sure and firm hand. She’s an excellent doctor and has helped our cast out already in the past, but is currently playing a crucial roll in helping the cyborg race as a whole find a cure for the enforced female infertility discovered recently by our crew. Blade, Dirk, and Lance (triplet cyborgs) have been assigned (gotten themselves assigned more like) to be her bodyguards during this dangerous quest (the corporations REALLY don’t want the situation fixed). Since they’re programming was based around security/protection duty, it fits quite well.
Alyson is a wonderful character. She has an interesting past that, though not as heartbreaking as the cyborgs, is still rich and lends to shaping her into the wonderful person that she is. She resists the guys at first since she’s been burned before, but it’s kinda hard to resist three very determined sweethearts who try their darnedest at every turn. For their parts, they’re unique amongst the cyborg crew in that they never saw battle-being created just before the big release. Definitely made for a different storyline.
If you like your sci-fi romance sweet, hot, and fun with lots of elements of friendship and a few good action scenes, this is something you should try!
I enjoyed the book, loved the characters and storyline, however, the ending was abrupt. We find out in the epilogue what happens after a great build-up which caused me to drop a star.
Different
It wasn’t good and it wasn’t awful. I like the cyborgs, the Dr…eh. The author really needed to go into the background of her more to haul me in. The sex scenes were mediocre, and too many of them that were too similar. I mean you have 3 guys here, there is lots of stuff one can do to make it really fun and interesting that the author fell flat on and relied on the average instead. I wasn’t thrilled with the ending with the big build up of a battle with the assassin that never happened…what? Then it is mentioned in the Epilogue…that was lame and not at all satisfying, more lie a bid to tell the reader what happened in as few words as they could to meet a word count. Bleh. It was all just shallow.
Loved this book, it was a stay up late, page-turner.
I’ve read a few books by this author in this series and I will say this is one of the better ones.
Easy read and good characters.
Not big fan
Very sexy
I enjoyed the evolution of the relationship among the four main characters.
I really enjoyed this book.
Was finished with this one way too soon…wanted more
Cloning theory taken to a different outcome with action origami and reluctant love.
I really enjoy Susan Hayes Drift books. Misfits and rebels on the edge of space, making their way and overcoming the odds to build a home!
Sexy fun
Just not what I was thinking when I downloaded it
I read the books before this one, and really like the setting and the suspense. However, on this book, just as the main characters are running from the bad guys, and heading into a confrontation with them, the book just stops. The result of the confrontation is mentioned in one sentence in the epilogue! Missed a big change to discuss the characters and move the plot a bit. Very disappointing.
It was good but the ending is incomplete for feel a huge part is missing.
Hot Cyborgs, space, post apocalyptic worlds, betrayal, love, caring…
