A dark fae king, three deadly trials, and a forbidden passion that could destroy everything . . . Fae exist only in stories told to children, or so I thought. That was before I woke up with a seven-pointed star branded into the flesh of my inner wrist. You see, everything changed when a nightmarish creature of the Fae Realm dropped into my life like a bad ex-boyfriend. He claimed the mark on my … ex-boyfriend. He claimed the mark on my skin signified my magical lineage, the bit of DNA my mother passed down and never thought to mention before disappearing a decade ago.
Now, he was here to collect her descendant—and the options were me—or my baby sister.
There was no way in hell I would let Ava get wrapped in something like this, so I step up. Days after I arrive in the Fae Realm, I’m thrown into a series of trials titled ‘The Devotion’. An extremely elevated, and beyond twisted dating game of sorts, the Fae use to wed off their royalty. I’m not interested in being anyone’s forced-bride, so I’ll do what I can to bide my time until I can haul ass out of here.
Now, no-magic-me, is supposed to compete with demons, vampires, elves, and more, who want to claim their place at the future king’s side. I have no interest in this guy, but it doesn’t help that the king-to-be is a gorgeous, brooding fae, named Rowan Blaive. He’s dominant, commanding, and everything I shouldn’t want.
But the longer I’m here, the more I’m questioning everything—including my own heart.
A sexy new series perfect for fans of: Trial by Fae, Dark King, Power of Five, Half-Blood Academy, King of The Fae, Bound to The Battle God, and Stolen by The Fae King!

What a story. It is full of drama, action, betrayal, and a bit of sexy scenes. It draws you in and doesn’t let go. It has you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of wonder. It is extremely well written and the characters are stunningly developed. The support characters add just the right amount to the story that gives so much entertainment. I loved Eden and her spunk. This is definitely a must read and doesn’t disappoint.
Wow, that was quite
Wow, that was quite a ride. With its twists and turns, once you think you know what’s going to happen, bam… you’re wrong. I’m looking forward to the next book. I hope it’s as wonderful as this one is.
I found this book to be extremely captivating and original. There was a lot of mystery and suspense throughout the entire story. I never really knew what secrets were going to be revealed or who was plotting against who. There were a lot of bombs dropped and I really liked the cliffhanger. I already have book two in my library!

The heroine Eden is kidnapped and taken to the Fae Kingdom to compete in the Devotion Games, a set of three trials to determine the bride of the Fae Prince Rowan. I really like Eden! She is sassy and smart and does a bang-up job of learning and using her newly acquired powers and in just a matter of days. And all of this while trying to temper the malevolent wiles of a fellow competitor and dealing with the intense attraction to Prince Rowan. A really great start for the series!

Very different and interesting.
I enjoyed this new twist to the supernatural genre.
The story has many angles, sub plots and though some things are very apparent some take you suddenly by surprise.
Looking forward for book 2 eagerly.

A dark fae king, three deadly trials, and a forbidden passion that could destroy everything . . .
I loved this book! The blurb sums it up well! Eden is a regular girl, but then a Fae shows up at her door and says she has to come with him or else he’ll take her baby sister. She is being forced to participate in the Devotion Trials, the winner of which will marry Prince Rowan. He’s handsome, but a jerk, plus Eden isn’t about to marry someone by force. She just needs to survive until she can escape. This book is exciting and intriguing! I really liked Eden. She’s fierce and determined. I enjoyed the enemies to lover romance, and I’m very excited to read the next book!

Ending the century-long war
—>>> Eden Morris is taking care of her younger sister and her very ill father when she is hunted by a demon bounty hunter from the Fae Realm to present herself and compete in the Fae Prince Rowan Blaive’s games for his hand in marriage as Fae-Queen. And shockingly, she is informed her mother was Queen of the Coven, meaning she is a witch herself. The learning curve is quite steep as she is thrown into the very regimented world of the Fae, Demons and all manner of otherkind and prepared to for her role as one of the seven participants against her will. For Rowan, he has a a clear duty to end the war between the Fae and the Demons, and many in the Realm are counting on him to make the right choice. Unfortunately, no matter what he feels for this witch, he has to do what is best for his people to end this century-long war. This was a good start to the series, and the cliffhanger raises a whole bunch of questions to draw us into the next book. I love the cover but was surprised by the actual descriptions of the characters in the book.

I am not normally a romance seeker, but this was definitely a good one with tons of fantasy bits to back it up. I enjoyed this book and will be looking for more.

OMG!! Absolutely twisted. I don’t know what to think really, keeps you on edge trying to figure everything out then leaves you reeling from the big cliff hanger. I really, really liked it but at the same time was hard to wrap my head around everything, there’s allot of information missing. Only bits and pieces are given and it kinda of is hard to full enjoy the book despite it having a great start and wanting to read more to find out if everything will be actually explained soon.

Eden found out she was a witch when she was kidnapped to the fae kingdom. She was to fight in a trial to win the soon to be fae kings hand in marriage. Rowan hated witches but one glance at Eden and he knew she had to be his. This was a really good read but It ended with a cliffhanger.

So Eden is basically abducted by a demon, Harper, and taken to the Fae Realm. She finds out she is a witch and princess/leader to her mother’s coven. She also finds out she has to compete in trials. The winner gets to marry Prince Rowan. If she loses she basically forfeits her covens standing and control. There are six other fae she has to compete against. She bonds with a siren and her advisor since witches are scum to everyone else in the realm. She holds her own in the trials but loses in other areas. This book very sadly ends with a cliffhanger and I really need the next book. It sucked me in and I need to know what the heck happens!

I don’t really know what I was expecting when I started Three Deadly Trials but what I got was more than I could have expected. It was such a good story and it sucked me in right away. The last time a paranormal/fantasy romance series sucked me in this hard was when I read the A.C.O.T.A.R. books. This author has the ability to create a whole world that you wish you could live in, or is that just me?
The book follows Eden, who is basically raising her sister that is a few years younger than her while her father is in the hospital fighting cancer. One night while out with a friend someone follows her home and informs her that she is to participate in The Devotion Trials and if she wins she will get to marry the handsome Fae Prince Rowan. Eden has no desire to compete in these trials, especially after she meets Rowan who makes it clear that she will not be able to win this contest and he has already favored another contestant. At first she is happy to hear this but the more time she spends in the Fae Realm and around Rowan the more she starts to consider the possibilities of what it would be like win instead of returning home to her family. Will she be able to win The Devotion and the Prince’s heart or will she be bested and set home?
Rowan is kind of a D.B. at first.. like I understand we don’t know everything that is going on initially but man did I want to hate him so much! Of course I was swooning for him in no time flat cause nothing kick starts my heart like an alpha male with a heart! I really like Eden a lot, for being dropped in this world with no understanding of what was going on she was a total bad ass! She stood her ground and wasn’t going to let these women get the best of her. I loved most of the side/supporting characters but there were a few that I really disliked/hated and I know that was the authors intention. Overall the plot was interesting and I struggled to put the book down for work, pretty much every chance I got I was picking the book up and reading it. I will caution you, have book number 2 handy cause you are definitely going to want to dive right into that when you get to the end of this book.
This was my first VS Winters book but it absolutely won’t be my last! In fact I can’t wait to read the next 2 books in the series!

Rated 3.5. This was an ok read for me. I love fae stories, although this one was a bit slow at the beginning to grab my interest, i’m glad i didn’t give up. I will pick book 2 cause i want to see what happens next.

Three Deadly Trials is an interesting but slow introduction to Battle For The Dark King series by VS Winters with a lot of drama and details of what is happening. The action and suspense is not until the trails begin with a cliffhanger for an ending.

Interesting premise but it felt a little rushed at times in terms of plot and characters. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
