When a child goes missing, two mothers’ lives collide in a shocking way in this suspenseful novel from the bestselling author of The Marriage Lie.
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare: the call that comes in the middle of the night. When Kat Jenkins awakens to the police on her doorstep, her greatest fear is realized. Her nine-year-old son, Ethan, is missing–vanished from the cabin where he’d been on an overnight class trip. Shocked and distraught, Kat rushes to the campground, but she’s too late; the authorities have returned from their search empty-handed after losing Ethan’s trail in the mountain forest.
Another mother from the school, Stef Huntington, seems like she has it all: money, prominence in the community, a popular son and a loving husband. She hardly knows Kat, except for the vicious gossip that swirls around Kat’s traumatic past. But as the police investigation unfolds, Ethan’s disappearance has earth-shattering consequences for Stef, as her path crosses with Kat. As the two mothers race against the clock, their desperate search for answers reveals how the greatest dangers lie behind the everyday smiles of those they trust the most.

Wow yet Another fantastic read . Three Days Missing tells the story of a child Ethan who is bullied at school gets kidnapped during an overnight school camping trip. Every parents worst nightmare! It’s a fast-paced story with Each chapter told in alternative voices by Kat ( Ethans mom ) and Stef Huntington,(the mayor’s wife and mother of one of Ethans spoiled classmates Sammy ). I really , really loved this book and how well developed the characters were. The author done a really good job that allowed me to feel the emotions of each mother. Once i started reading it i just could not put it down. I devoured it in just one sitting. It grabbed my attention on page one and held my attention until the very end. It was Very well written. Three Days Missing is a nail-biting rollercoaster of a read that hits at the very heart and soul of every parent. As the mother of two sons, one who actually went missing for short while I understood Kat’s terror. Kat who is a low-income single mother with an abusive soon to be x husband races against the clock to find out who took her son. Do they find Ethan in time ? This is a really great psychological suspenseful thriller that you will not want to miss.
This book starts out really good then dies off. The description is a psychological suspense. Really it’s just a story about a kidnapping with an undertone about bulling. I didn’t find it suspenseful at all. The writing is mediocre.
Great book for summertime reading…Fast read!
I bought this book for the excellent reviews. I love psychological thrillers and was excited to start reading. This book was such a disappointment! Slow from the start with characters that are self centered. The last 50 pages make up for the book, but otherwise there are several other psychological thrillers to read. I was not a fan.
Excellent story, great characters. Hard to put down. Made me want to read the author’s other books (I am now on my third!)
Twists and turns until the last page.
A missing child, a desperate mother, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing — Three Days Missing has all the right stuff for an engaging, suspenseful read.
Kat let her little boy go to camp, despite her doubts. Then he’s taken in the midst of chaos.
Stef is the privileged wife of Atlanta’s mayor and has a son in the same class.
Two moms, two little boys, one terrifying mystery. Who took Ethan? Why? Told from both moms’ points of view, this novel reads at a breakneck pace. Just when you’re coming to an apex in her story, Belle switches over to the other mom with a new chapter. There is never ending suspense and I can guarantee you, this will be a binge read with the inability to stop reading. Not when she ends every chapter like that. You simply have to keep reading to find out what’s going to be revealed next.
As a mom to a sweet, bullied child, my heart was in my throat from the very first paragraph. Belle perfectly captures the fear, anxiety and any other raw emotion a mother might feel when their child is in danger and worse- taken. I had my theories as I read the book, as I love to do with stories like this. One of my theories was indeed correct, but it was done in such a masterful way, I relished reading how it was played out. It did not take away from the book in the slightest. Full of fear that feels all too real, Three Days Missing is a nonstop suspense thriller that will keep you guessing. 5+ stars.
This novel had my heart racing until the last page!
Ethan an 8 year old boy, has been bullied at his private school because he has a genius IQ and is “different”. Nobody cares, not classmates, teachers or school administrators.
His mother Kat loves him with all her heart and wishes her son would have friends and go to parties and have playdates.
When there is an overnight camping trip, Kat reluctantly allows Ethan to attend, while praying he will fit in.
When Ethan goes missing during the night, nobody can imagine why or how he disappeared.
Where does a little boy go in the dark woods with only his backpack?
One of my favorite lines is “Maybe the goal here shouldn’t be to understand but to let go.” This book is a mystery filled with suspense but also so many lessons here woven among the pages.
I will definitely not be forgetting this amazing book anytime soon!
Mother (Kat) is frantic to find her 8 yo son (Ethan) after he goes missing from an overnight class trip. Did he simply get lost, or was there foul play involved? If the latter, then who would want to kidnap Ethan, and why?
Kimberly Belle’s previous book, The Marriage Lie (5 stars), is one of my top 3 favorite thrillers so this one had a lot to live up to. I am so excited to say that she’s done it again!!
Throughout this book, my heart was beating so fast, and I found myself very anxious and on the verge of tears several times as I waited along with Kat to find out if her son, Ethan, would be found safe and sound. Even though I guessed early on who took Ethan, I didn’t know why and there were plenty of other twists and turns to keep me entertained. I raced through this in two days because I couldn’t put it down and even lost some sleep the night in between thinking about it. Don’t miss this heart pounding, nail biting, anxiety-inducing thriller!
I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
