As always Elle did not disappoint. The story twisted and turned and held my attention from start to finish.
Three Courageous Words:
Review:
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the Harlequin romantic military based suspense novel Three Courageous Words : Mission 6 series book 3: Buck and Angela by Elle James and this review was given freely.
An action and drama packed unexpected reunion in South Sudan with an abrupt but happy ending which ends where it began at the All Things Wild Safari and Resort.
Tasked with stopping Sudanese People’s Resistance Army leader General Ibrahim Koku’s reign of terror, mass massacres, and divergence of US aide, the six Team 22 members finds their safari vacation cut short and themselves protecting then rescuing Doctors without Boards’ Chicago native Dr. Angela Vega who just happens to be Navy SEAL Corpsman Graham “Buck” Buckner’s long lost love.
18+ Contains some vivid violence and mildly steamy scenes. Can be read alone but is best if read in sequence.
Danger abounds as this SEAL team continues their mission! With the third book in her Mission: Six series, Elle James brings us Buck’s story. He had a past that he was running from when he joined the service, and this mission runs him smack dab into the one person he regretted having to leave behind. The story is packed full of dangerous situations, sweet memories and a satisfying reconnection. Enjoyed it and looking forward to more!
While on a secret mission in Africa, Navy SEAL Graham “Buck” Buckner sees a familiar face in a situation that instantly terrifies him! He can’t believe his eyes, but his college girlfriend who he left behind without even a goodbye when he had to go on the run is about to run into a group of terrorists. He has to get her out of there!
Dr. Angela Vega is with Doctors Without Borders at a refugee camp when she decides to march in protest with the locals to demand the resources that should have been coming to their camp. She is clueless to the danger about to cross her path, but even when Buck snatches her from the street, she’s spitting mad and fighting against leaving her mission! Will he be able to accomplish helping the kids she has in her care while dodging the danger that’s right on their heals?
No Spoilers Elle sure knows how to write the adventure, action packed, romances. I love this book it has all of her trademark writing. I love the fact that this is a second chance romance filled with all the twist and turns an intrigue romance has with it. Like all of Elles books this will not disappoint.
Three Courageous Words is another wonderful military romance by Elle James!
“Buck” Graham Buckner walked away from the woman he loved years ago in order to protect her from his past life, but he vows never to do it again. This time he has to get Angela Vega out of Africa before a warlord who Graham and his team are in country to find comes after them and kills them, but
Angela doesn’t want to leave until she helps the many children in her care get to safety.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
OOOh a 2nd chance at love for Buck and Angela!
Graham Buckner, AKA Buck, fled medical school and his love for Angela when his former gang came after him. He knew the military would keep him safe but staying away from Angela was the only way to keep her safe.
On a mission in Sudan he can’t believe he stumbles across Angela who is now working with Doctors without Borders. But she is still as headstrong and heart-tender as ever and doesn’t want to leave behind those people who now look to her for aid.
Evil warlords, scared villagers and a feisty elderly couple who come to their aid make this a fab romp through Africa. I enjoyed the tension between Buck and Angela and the slow thaw around Angela’s heart was in keeping with her protecting her heart, although it does rapidly thaw as the book progresses!
An action packed second chance romance. Angela and Buck were together during med school, but circumstances forced Buck to leave. He joined the Navy to get away from his past, and to protect Angela. Sparks fly when they come across each other again in Sudan. She doesn’t want to admit that she still loves him, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get her back.
I thought that the action was great and well paced. The characters were easy to like, even though at times I wanted to hit Angela for denying what she knew was there. That’s what takes a story from one level to the next though, that feeling of being immersed in it and wanting to interact with the characters.
Three Courageous Words is one of the finest books I have read in the SEAL genre. It is not only action-packed but gives the reader the insight into the dangerous missions undertaken by SEAL teams. This story has suspense, romance, but more importantly, compassion for the downtrodden in war torn countries. The people in the poorest countries are aided by not only our military but by heroes from many walks of life: ministers, doctors, UNICEF and many selfless individuals. While this book is about U. S. Navy SEAL Graham “Buck” Buckner and Angela, a physician with Doctors Without Borders, Elle James captures the essence of good versus evil in such a way that you want to contribute in making the world a better place.
Three Courageous Words by Elle James is a fantastic romantic suspense. Ms. James has once again delivered a well-written book. The characters in this story are outstanding and so lovable you hate for the story to end. Buck is a SEAL on a mission in Africa. Angela is a doctor working in a small village in Africa. Buck and Angela’s tale is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Elle James. Three Courageous Words is book 3 in the Mission: Six Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed book 3 of the Mission Six books. This book has a very strong female character and the storyline is realistic. Having never been to the area where this story takes place I really enjoyed reading about the culture, even though at times it was appalling. I know it is probably more reality than fiction, but I hope there is a lot of fiction in it.
I hope we get to see more of these characters in future books. I enjoyed seeing Marley at the end of this book, but I hope we get some glimpses into more of their lives and not just a quick pop-in.
So far, this is my favorite book of the series, but I can’t wait to see who can tame T-mac, Big Jake and Harm. Only time will tell who is up to that task.
I really like all the guys on the team. Buck walked away from medical school and Angela years ago. It cost him a lot to do it, but he did it for Angela. He joined the Navy and thought he would never see her again. Now, here he is in Africa and sees her organizing some women to protest. As he sees the danger coming for them, he pulls her out of danger. Even though she doesn’t appreciate it. Angela thought she left Buck behind a long time ago. After all, he left her without a word. She is now a doctor working for Doctors Without Borders and is trying to help the people of Africa. Angela can’t just leave all these people in need to save herself. The local warlord wants Angela to help him and will do everything to get her. When that happens, Buck and the team have to save her and all the boys the warlord kidnapped to grow his army. Will Buck get there in time?
Graham “Buck” Buckner gets an unexpected second chance for a love he thought he’d lost years ago. Dr. Angela Vega thought her first love was long over when he comes charging back into her life, literally snatching her out of a potentially life threatening situation. So begins another compelling tale of the Mission 6 SEAL team.
This is an intriguing, suspenseful story, full of action and steamy romance. The narrative is fast paced and engaging. It flows effortlessly and will definitely keep your attention from beginning to end. The characters are strong and interesting, and the emotions are high. Each story can be read as a standalone, but the Mission 6 characters are integrated into the whole series. I highly recommend you read this story and the series!
Buck left Angela without a word years before, now he’s a SEAL in the middle of a mission and finds he’s unexpectedly trying to save her life in Africa, but she’s a doctor and has a mission there and people to help. He still loves her and wants a second chance. And so it begins….. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in return for an honest review. First I loved the list of characters at the beginning, so going in I wasn’t confused on who was who as they showed up in the book. And I do love military romance, and of course the whole bullets flying thing! This had everything – romance, action, adventure, twists, turns and second chances. There was not a dull moment at all. Elle James did not disappoint at all, I absolutely recommend this book to everyone. Heck, I’m ready to read it again.
What an emotional and exciting read!
Buck and Angela were college sweethearts that broke up abruptly and are thrown together half a world away. Bitterness and anger have to be put aside to ensure their safety and the safety of others. They have to learn to work together to stay one step ahead of the bad guys.
There were many aspects of this book I liked. I liked the interaction that Buck has with his team, the giving nature that Angela has for strangers and for wanting to make things safer for those she cares for.
However, there were parts that I had a hard time with. While I understand Angela’s want to protect and help every living person out there, in some ways she was so reckless. She put herself, Buck, Buck’s team and others in danger because she wasn’t willing to let something go or to think rationally and not emotionally.
This is the third book in the Mission: Six series about a group of SEALs, home based in Virginia, but sent world wide, wherever they are needed. This book follows directly on the heels of the last. The unit was enjoying R&R at the All Things Wild Resort in Africa, when they are send to Sudan to find General Ibrahim Koku, a warlord terrorizing the people of South Sudan. But before they can capture him, Navy SEAL Graham “Buck” Buckner spots his formal girlfriend, Dr. Angela Vega in danger on the street, leading a women’s protest and grabs her. They were in medical school together, but to keep her safe from his former association with a Chicago gang, he ghosted and joined the navy. She was heartbroken, when he didn’t even say goodbye and is now a member if Doctor’s Without Borders. Now his mission is not only to eliminate Koku, but keep his woman and all the suffering villagers safe, and convince Angela that they can have a future together.
The book is fast paced, with skillfully developed characters and a real life scenario. While the UN spends most of it’s time condemning Israel the only free nation in it’s region, they ignore what is happening in Sudan. I also like that the author lists the “Cast of Characters” from this and the previous books at the begining of the book. I wish every other of a series would do this. It not only helps those readers who are new to the series, but is a good reminder to readers who have read the previous books, but several others books by other authors in between.
His mission is to get General Ibrahim Koku. “Buck” Graham Buckner and his SEAL team are in South Sudan to stop the warlord, Koku from stealing food and aid supplies that should be going to the refugee camps there as well as to stop his brutal torture and killing of the village people who try to stop him from taking their young sons for his army. He isn’t there to meet up with his ex-girlfriend from his med school days. Dr. Angela Vega is working with Doctors Without Borders at a refugee camp in South Sudan. She certainly never expected to have Buck show up and save her life. She also never expected to join him on his mission to locate Koku’s camp. Koku needs to be stopped once and for all. His killing and robbing has got to end.
Three Courageous Words is Author Elle James’ third book in her Mission: Six series. Once again she incorporates lots of action from the beginning to the end of the story. Of course she also includes some steamy love scenes. The two main characters, Buck and Angela are both tough and determined. They may have changed a little from their med school days but their core values and character traits hang true. They just can’t fight their attraction to each other. Perhaps neither one really wants to.
I really love to read stories written by Elle James. This is another great one.
