Book 1 in a feel good Regency Romance series, full of love, with just the right amount of steam.“Regency Romance with a modern sensibility Unique and totally relatable heroines, irresistible love interests, and a cast of family, friends and villains that thoroughly captivates.” – Ev Bishop, USA Today bestselling authorThe earl finally finds his mystery woman—will he lose her forever to his enemy, … woman—will he lose her forever to his enemy, his best friend, or his own dangerous mistake?
London-hating dreamer, Lydia Norwood, has failed spectacularly as a débutante. Now an encoretante whose family has lost a fortune, Lydia discovers that the beau monde is hard on a nouveau riche social climber, particularly one who is no longer riche and only wants to climb trees. Lydia must stave off the effrontery of rogue lords and conniving competitors long enough to make a good match, or else incur society’s scorn by being so scandalous as to earn her own money. Falling for the unattainable Lord Aldley is a distraction she cannot afford. But they share such an enchanted history, how can her heart resist?
The tragically virtuous Earl of Aldley is tired of ambitious families hurling débutantes at his head, but cannot hide in France forever. He returns to London to seek out the mysterious tree-climbing girl who once saved him from a scheming chit, and finds more than he bargained for. Abductions, seductions, trickery and injury all endanger Lydia, but Lord Aldley’s heart is imperiled beyond rescue. He has only just found her—will he lose her forever to his enemy, his best friend, or his own dangerous mistake?

I enjoy the stories about the old days. It was long, but kept my interest.
Lydia and her friend Tilly have quite the adventures during the London season. Abductions, betrayals, and unsavory characters keep the action flowing and the suspense gripping. Of course, there is plenty of romance thrown in to keep everyone happy. The book is also quite long at 359 pages. Enjoy the read.
In my top three very favorite historical romance novels. Jane Austen would love this book, it is beautifully written and absolutely hysterical.
It was fun to read
Witty characters, well-written, albeit a bit wordy. Slow starter but kept my interest until i was pulled in to the story. Intelligent women and noble, honorable male characters.
loved it
It was original and a fun read.
Very entertaining female characters. 🙂
This is one of the first books I’ve read to include twists and turns, and the plots were very hilarious. I couldn’t put it down. Well written!!!
Great fun!
Loved it
never knew what was coming next Loved the characters
Author kept me entertained and wishing to be able to just read the entire book at one sitting. As I came to the end of book one I just had to keep reading the teaser for book two. If your are liking romance and period books this author writes a good one!
What a wild ride! This was a very entertaining book. Filled with love and troubles too. Looking forward to read more in this series!
This was way, way too long and the story was too busy. Could have been much simpler and shorter. I was about a quarter thru and was going to quit, but stayed at it and then sorry I did.
Too long. Not enough time devoted to two main characters’ interactions.
Way too wordy, some of which was inconsequential.
The beginning was great, but soon it became boring, blah blah blah. I started skipping entire paragraphs.
Enjoyed it!
Most enjoyable
Wonderfully complex story filled with romantic suspense, rakish enterprises, and delicious feminine machinations. Sparkling dialogue full of understated sarcasm and pointed wit. Characters who reveal hidden depths, surprising strengths, and endearing weaknesses. Minus one star for the (thankfully) long-delayed sex scenes, which are in direct violation of both the style and the spirit of this otherwise delightful historical romance.
