“Love had been stolen from me for reasons entirely my fault. But then a miracle happened, and Pim gave me something I thought was lost forever. She gave me a love I’d earned. Love that ruined me. Love that made me hopelessly hers…”Once upon a time, I didn’t think I’d ever be normal. Now, I’m talking and trusting, and it’s all thanks to Elder. He gave me my life back, and I gave him my heart, but … my life back, and I gave him my heart, but love stories like ours are never simple.
I did something to protect him.
He did something to survive me.
We screwed up.
And now, it’s no longer just about us.
It’s about safety, sanctuary, and sin.

Oh my goodness! I am mortified…. I am broken… Destroyed… What a book, what a stunning way to continue the journey of Pim & Elder… Once again Pepper outnumbered herself…
I cried sooo hard, so much…
The 4th installment start where 3rd finished…. Where did Pim go??? Will Elder find her??
So many questions… But first of all we eventually get some answers… First of all will Pim find her mother?? Was it all her mother’s plan???
Will Pim and Elder find their way to each other? Elder thinks he is doing what best for Pim, but is it worth it??
Brace yourself not just for a stunning bombshell, but also with the appearance of Jethro and…. Q… Wow… I was not prepared for Q bombshell arrival, but I am sooo happy to see my 3 favorite characters in one book!
What an ending… It positively ( or maybe not so positively) killed me… And yes this book does end on a cliffhanger.
Waiting for the 5th and final installment of this stunning series….
Thousands was a very intense and spectacular read!
Poor Pim and Elder, still struggling with making their relationship work or not. This couples struggles with the past, the present, and they fear the future. It amazes me that they are battling this back and forth with their relationship, should they give in to the other? Should they walk away from each other? Should they try and quiet Elder’s mind enough to allow this relationship to work and thrive?
This series is gripping and devastatingly raw and emotional.

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
This is the fourth book in the Dollar series. The previous books must be read in order to understand what is going on. This is a dark romance with two leads that have a lot of hurdles to overcome. Go in with an open mind.
This entire series has been heartbreaking so far, but this book elevated that a notch. I loved the dynamic between Elder and our girl Pim. Like my title says, NO DAMSELS IN DISTRESS DETECTED and boy, did I celebrate that. It was hilarious at some points and hilarious isn’t really a word you’d use to describe the rest of the series. I loved how the tone softened a bit, but it still shot daggers into our hearts. Pim served bad b*tch moods throughout the novel. She was so strong. She molded herself into the warrior queen that we all knew she had inside of her. Pepper also had her do some philosophical thinking at some point which is so Pepper. There’s one instance where a character describes Elder as “nice. Strange… but honourable” and DAMN, that was the most accurate description of him.
Pepper fascinates me with how far along she plans her stories. Sully made an appearance in this book and I wonder how does she do it? What other easter eggs are we missing for future books of hers?
The cameos of well-known past Pepper leads were well done and so adorable.
Once again, the award for best cliffhanger goes to Pepper Winters for truly leaving us with STUNNED. Just as everything was going wonderfully, mon coeur, qu’est-ce qu’il s’est passé?
I recommend this to readers that want a story of perseverance, strength, love, loss and pain. This is very dark and readers should proceed with caution. This is Pepper Winters at her finest dark moments.
ORIGINAL COMMENT
Just as my babies were doing great………… THAT ENDING!!!
Elder left Pim behind… but he’s struggling with her absence. He thinks he’s doing the right thing, that she is better off without him but it’s not true. She is trouble and he doesn’t know it yet. She has no way to survive on her own. She has no money, now shelter and no food so she has to resort to stealing to make it but she gets caught. Elder finally realizes his mistake and comes back to get her and finds her in police custody but he isn’t the only one looking for her. Another has hacked into the police database but who? As this book continues Elder tries to keep his distance but Pim doesn’t want to. She has this theory about him and wants to test it. For him to let go but he refuses. Scared of what could happen.
The ending blew me away and made my heart almost catapult out of my chest!
Really good!
After all the push and pull, Elder lets go. Pim welcomes his surrender. Unfortunately, his past comes to collect and Pim is rescued by a stranger.
I am so pleased I decided to continue reading this series because I thought Thousands was fabulous! I couldn’t put this instalment down. I found it to be exciting and faster paced than the previous two books; there were different elements added to the story so this part wasn’t all about the push/pull and the indecisiveness between Elder and Pim, and I loved it!
After the closing scene in Hundreds, I honestly didn’t know what would happen to Pim and Elder. The opening scenes of Thousands had me on the edge of my seat! As the story unfolded it reinforced just how strong Pim is and it also revealed more about Elder. A few characters that I recognise the names of popped up in this book too. Having only met Sully Sinclair I am looking forward to getting to know the others when I read the series that they feature in.
I award 4.5 stars for this penultimate book in the series. I have removed 0.5 of a star because there were times that the repeated scenes of the push/pull crept back in to this story which is irking me. I now hope that Millions brings this series to an end spectacularly.
This book…
When I started, I wondered if it would just be a stop gap between books, and this one was so important. Pim really came into her own in this book, and Elder let her. So many questions got answered, and now I feel like we really need to get to the last book so we can find out what happens.
I think Pepper isn’t as dark as I thought she would be, but she definitely writes great characters with such psychological quirks that you can’t help but want to figure them out.
Pepper winters is my new favorite!
The story of Elder and Pim keeps getting better and more complicated but at the same time more beautiful because finally, we are seeing all the evolution both characters are having after so many burdens, problems, and bad misunderstandings..
“ Love was simple. It was life that made it complicated. And I was done waiting for him to figure it out. ”
Elder keeps fighting his feelings but not as much as the very beginning of the story, he is more open and understanding now that he knows how it feels not to have Pim by his side.
“I think I fell in love with you the first moment I saw you. When you refused to shake my hand. When you stood naked and daring me to hurt you. When you pushed away my penny for your thoughts.”
“I fell in love with you when you swam with me in the dark. I fell when you shared the storm with me. I fell so many fucking times for you, Pimlico, and I don’t know how many times I still have to fall.”
Pim has evolved so much, her fears are dissolving slowly but in this book we can see her, bolder and stronger, wanting to defend herself and not staying quiet especially when it comes to Elder.
“But now I was awake and ready to feel everything. And those scraps and stars weren’t enough anymore. I wanted planets. I wanted galaxies. I wanted his heart.”
We also get to find more about Pims family and past as well as a few other things about Elder. Pim keeps trying to figure how to be with him without breaking him..
“This was everything I’d been wanting and everything I could never hope to find. This was pure fucking love, and I sank to the bottom of it and didn’t care if I drowned.”
When I first started this series I didn’t know what to expect. I was a little afraid because of a few reviews and the dark part. but I have to say it was very worth it and I’m so glad I finally did even deeper into Peeper’s work and Elder and Pims world
These two really keep growing so much in me, their love, their need, they are definitely made for each other both of them have a past that in some way interconnects or made them even more alike..
I’m dying to know what is next in the final book of this amazing series..
“You’re the most important person in the world to me. My mother and father might have given me life, but you returned it to me when I no longer wanted it. For that you have my undying loyalty—no matter if we’re together or apart.”
Love ANYTHING by Pepper Winters. She writes about broken people healing.
It is not possible to love this series any more than I do already. Captivated after book one, this series just continues to develop and grow. Pepper is the master at playing the long game. Her stories are carefully thought out, planned to perfection and executed with style. Reading her books is like drinking a vintage wine; you saviour it, take it every single word that is written. Sit back and enjoy the effects. It’s neither a quick read or a short read but once you start you don’t want to put it down.
Again told from a dual POV; it’s a slow paced book, not because it’s being dragged out but because Pepper has created a smouldering fire and is fanning the flames to what is to come. Each piece is relevant to the development of the story. Thousands see’s Pim / Tasmin come alive, find herself and becomes a worthy partner for Elder. The sexual tension between the two is evident. Elder just oozes testosterone; it is not possible for him to be any more alpha. It was amazing to see how Pepper had written parts into the story for Jethro and Q. Absolutely brilliant how they kept their characters in this story. I am in awe of this author and the way her mind has conjured this story encompassing two of her most famous creations. The ending… I have no words. I always knew it was going to be a cliffhanger. But I don’t think I could ever in my wildest dreams have visioned this one!!
For those that have read the dollars series to date you’ll know how captivating this series really. For those that haven’t, one click Pennies… It’s dark, it’s deviant, it’s twisted… It’s Pepper Winters. I don’t need to say any more. Read it!
Pimlico is suffering. Elder is left behind or has he left her, the end result is the same. She’s lonely, wandering rudderless like a boat unmoored and abandoned
The book picks up from Hundreds’ last Port of Call. Pimlico is gaining strength day by day in this part and her character is morphing from huddled, closed chrysalis to a beautiful butterfly. Her heart is sprouting wings and her body is craving sunshine, of Elder’s love. But he is still in the shadows. Refusing to man up
I was frustrated and annoyed at him. He was frustrated and annoyed with me. We’d skipped happy courtship, sprinted through contented marriage, and headed straight for a bitter divorce. I came to a stop in the middle of the room.
The story starts very fast, actually developed at a faster pace than the previous books, but midway just slows down a bit. The main sentiment is repeated multiple times
How many times would I tumble for this woman? And how many times could I say sorry?
It’s a constant one step forward , two steps back , scenario. I was beyond desperate for Elser to just give in. In my humble opinion, this series could easily be condensed into 3 books.
Over thinking of emotions and underplaying of conversation exists throughout.
Surprisingly Pimlico growss fabulously. Physically and mentally she discovers her body , heart and soul. Despite her past she heals and is ready to heal Elder too
she used her healing as a ladder. One rung at a time. Each one climbing higher and higher from her past and hardship, slowly growing bolder and more beautiful each height she scaled. I knew without a shadow of fucking doubt she would’ve achieved this without me. She would’ve found a way to kill Alrik. She would’ve found a way to come home. And she would’ve found a way to continue living. She wasn’t alive because of me. I was living because of her.
Despite the entangling wordweb, its still a pepper book, I mean obviously it’s phenomenal. And the end shows a terrific twist.
Now to wait for Millions !
4.5 Gold Pennies Stars
“How many times would I tumble for this woman?”
Oh, Elder. I didn’t think my heart could melt anymore that it already had but man, you ripped me apart and warmed my heart all at the same time.
Thousands cannot be read as a standalone. If you are somehow new to this series, WELCOME! Start with Pennies and hold on for dear life. Thousands picks up right after book 3, Hundreds, so please makes sure you start at the beginning. Otherwise you will spoil so many heartbreaking and beautiful moments.
As always, I have to keep my reviews for this series pretty vague because it is so easy to give away spoilers. But I feel I need to start with Pim. If you look at my past reviews for this series, I keep raving about how strong Pim is and how I couldn’t wait to see where Pepper Winters takes her. In Thousands, Pim is absolutely at her strongest. She’s found her voice and she’s confident in who she is and what she wants. Each story we get from her only solidifies just how strong and powerful I said Pim was from the start.
Elder has a war against himself, like always, but we really start to see the struggle here. Every interaction he had with Pim had my heart racing and breaking at the same time. I was on pins and needles the entire book because I didn’t know what was going to happen with them. I was so emotionally involved that I wanted to figure out a way to get on the Phantom and knock some sense into both of them.
Thousands is all consuming, powerful and hauntingly beautiful. From start to finish, you will be enthralled with both brokenness and strength with two people who will fight for their life to love and protect the one they love. I can’t wait to get the rest of Pim and Elder’s story. Well done, Pepper Winters. You had me from the start yet again.
Where to start with this book…
I literally spent the first 34%, or was it 54%, fighting tears and trying to keep my crying to a minimal volume. It was impossible to stifle them. I could only cling to the next line, paragraph, and page hoping for a reprieve.
I have loved, longed, begged, and pleaded throughout this series. I wanted hurt, to kill, and to exact a revenge that would make the demons in the pages of this series weep. I am a vengeful, empathetic, and hopeful person. So you can understand the torment that this series brings but the ever present hope is what carries me through.
Hope can be crushed, broken, and shattered. But all of those still imply a remnant…a left over piece, something tangible. It is everything for Pim- the piece controls everything. No matter how broken, alienated, or lost…that piece is there to cling to.
Wow, just wow. I ended this book the same way I began…
That being said, I refuse to tell you more about that, however…
I wanted to say this I have a vivid imagination. It’s often wild and inappropriate. It depicts my death and odd accidents. I drum up weirdly intricate details for lives I don’t know. I can have whole conversations between characters in the shower. But I will never conjure the incredible detail, beauty, and sheer awe inspiring stories as this woman has. I mean the detail and create ingenuity for an outfit that encompasses the entire core of a character. Ms. Winters brought it all to life. She brought me to me knees with a dress. Don’t even get me started on the name.
I tip my imaginary top hat to the maestro because this truly is a symphony. This story and it’s intertwining with the others in her library create an opus. I feel like at a disadvantage as I have yet to read the interlocking pieces. But don’t misunderstand my musings, you do not need to read her others series to comprehend. I only believe knowing those story would help and enhance the pleasure.
Clearly, I am impressed and it’s caused me to become the fan girl I am. I may not have loved him from the start, I may even have wanted to hit him in this book…repeatedly, but Elder Prest is everything Pim needs. These two…sigh. Thousands of reasons to hold on.

A Thousand Times, A Thousand Worth in Dollars, A Thousand Kisses, A Thousand Apologies
When you’ve had your heart rent from your chest about a thousand times only to have it put back a little bigger each time…And you still can not wait for more. It’s then you realize the unique genius of Pepper Winters. She is a phenomenon of a writer who writes saga after saga which explores the darker realm of sexual proclivities, as well as, the guilt and shame the fallen sexual abuser feels when redeemed by love.
Part of the beauty of “Thousands”, is I can really see a reader starting from this book. The read refreshes the memory of the past, not fully, but enough to get a taste. Of course just a taste of this epic saga would never satisfy, so be prepared to find yourself not only catching up but curious for the stories of Jethro and Q.
Pim as a character is, for me, a masterpiece. Ms. Winters does not hold back as we experience further indignities and physical assault at the hands of the wealthy sadistic and cruel. Her love for her rescuer, Elder, while often a source of safety and comfort also causes her pain.
Sometimes the reader feels their love is as hopeless as Elder’s broken mind. Other times we come to the conclusion that he is just a man in love who feels powerless in his love. He is an extraordinary male, deliciously sexy, so wonderfully complicated…so wonderfully Alpha.
These characters’ streams of consciousness would vacillate much like all of ours. This deep dive into the psyche accompanies suspenseful plot points. Very little is telegraphed and very little goes the way a reader of romance wills it to go…and yet we hang on for more torture.
I am left after the finish of this read with my mind spinning.
How is our brave and strong Pim going to convince Q that she is whole, healed, strong and was/is? in love with Elder, the man, who despite his demons, healed her physically, mentally, spiritually and sexually?
I invite any lover of the mysteries of love and the power of sexuality to begin this saga. You can start here…I suspect you will be so pulled in that you will begin at the beginning…and wait with me for the last book and it is all well, good and finished.
Pepper Winters is amazing and I love her work. Pim and Elder have so much to overcome and things are just coming together when danger strikes again.
You get a brief glance at previous heros from Monsters and Indebted series too.
