Dear readers,
THORN is a little differnt to my usual, it’s a high school bully romance with high levels of angst, drama and emotions. It is an upper YA romance and not intended for readers under 17.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
I’m not a lover of bully stories but this one wasn’t to bad, Jake was very much a huge @ss towards Amalie when she started at Rosewood High. She’s in a new country, new school and her parents have just died, now the biggest coolest boy in the school has a personal vendetta against her.
Luckily the chemistry between them keeps pulling them together and she knows the face he puts on is just that, a face. He has his own set of demons following him.
This book is well-written and fast-paced, I really liked the characters once we learn more about Jake. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I have not figured out why I am drawn so much to this genre, but drawn I am! Ms. Lorraine has done a very nice job. The male hero is flawed and dangerous, and I just loved him! When an author draws out emotions from me, whether anger, warmth, happiness, sadness, anxiety for the characters; they’ve done their job in my book (well, really their books, LOL)! Ms. Lorraine accomplished this! If you enjoy this genre, this is worth reading!

Thorn is the first book in a new series by Tracy Lorraine. This is a bully romance/ enemy to lovers story and is centered in a high-school environment.
Amelie finds herself living in the U.S with her grandmother after the death of her parents. Determined to focus on school and not draw attention to herself as a new student, Amelie soon finds that’ll be impossible after star quarterback, Jake Thorn notices her presence. Immediately disliking her, he is determined to make her life hell. Jake is cruel and will go to any length to humiliate and torture the new girl from across the pond.
Jake Thorn… what can I say, he’s hot and he’s mean. He’s the guy you want to hate but just know underneath all the cruelness he just wants to be loved. There’s so much going on within his life that you can’t help but turn from hating this jock jerk to feeling for him.
As the story progresses you learn quickly that Amelie is strong. She will not cower. I loved watching her stand up for herself against Jake.
The chemistry between these to was palpable. I enjoyed watching their interaction as the story progressed.
I enjoyed this story and thought it was a well written bully romance/enemies to lover’s romance. The storyline was solid, and all the characters had depth and their own personalities that made them realistic for readers. It’ll have you feeling a variety of emotions as the story unfolds. Angsty, raw and real this story is worth the read.
4 stars!
Jake is a tortured, broken soul. He keeps everyone besides his close friends at arms length, and doesn’t want anyone to know the real him.
Amalie is broken as well. She is mourning the loss of her parents and doesn’t want to start all over in a new school and new country.
This bully romance was a great enemies to lovers read. It was fast paced and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. These characters were perfect for each other and the secondary characters were so intriguing. I cannot wait until they get their own book.
I have seen several reviews that state that what Jake does was unnecessary or had a weak excuse. However, if you keep in mine that he is 18 year old who has had zero guidance in his life and no one to depend on, you will understand that maybe it doesn’t matter the reasoning. He was going to act like that over anyone who tried to get under his skin.
Overall, it was a great book to start off a next series. My only complaint is not having enough of them at the end. Hopefully we will get to see glimpses of their future in the following books.

An explosive relationship from start to finish. You can literally feel the hate that pours out of Jake from the first meeting with Amalie that you can’t help but hate him for it. There is a reason for his madness but you need to read this today to find out and you won’t be disappoint. His character grows on you once all is revealed and the sizzling chemistry that he has with Amalie take a turn for the good and you will not be able to stop reading until the end. I can’t wait for Mason and Camila’s story.
It was a decent read but I could not get really into it. Their was nothing wrong with it. The characters and storyline are good but it was just not calling to me. I will read again in the future to see if it holds my interest better. I do suggest you give it a try for yourself.
I ship them so hard!!
Amalie and Jake have the biggest most volatile relationship that I simply could not stop reading! I shipped these two from the beginning and although at first I HATED Jake, he grew on me and he changed. I can’t wait for Mason and Camila’s book!!

Alpha Asshole. Angst and Feels. Chemistry. Amazing side characters.

THORN was my first book by Tracy Lorraine and it will not be my last! This is a bully book with a seriously emotionally damaged guy who does some really awful things to the new girl in school, who has already lost almost everything.
Amalie – After both of her parents die, she moves from London to the US and begins living with her grandma. When she starts at Rosewood High, the King of the school Jacob Thorn immediately hates her although we are not entirely sure why. Amelia feels a strange pull towards Jake but also does her best to stand her ground and fight back against his torment. I enjoyed Amalie’s character, along with her fighting spirit and her vow to not let Jake ruin her life. I do think there were times where she should’ve fought back harder or not forgiven him so quickly but I was able to look past that.
“ , ’ .”
Jake – The King of Rosewood High. The brooding, sexy, alpha asshole who never lets anyone in and never lifts his mask. When his eyes first land on Amalie, all the memories the woman that ruined his life resurface and his anger beings to simmer right on the surface. he knows they aren’t the same person but has trouble looking past his emotional issues and anger to see that. Then, slowly but surely, she begins to break down every wall he has put up. She begins to see bits and pieces of the real him. But in true asshole fashion, he continues to fight his feelings and can’t completely quit treating her like shit.
“ , ’ , .”
Chemistry – These two have some serious push and pull between them… Including angry sexy scenes. While their heads are telling them one thing their bodies and hearts are telling them something different and eventually it becomes too hard to deny their feelings.
“ , .”
On top of the issues between just the two of them, they also have to deal with outside issues as well which makes for some interest drama! I can’t wait to see what happens with the side characters.
There were some negatives that I had with this book though. The first being that there was never any answer about what happened at Shane’s party (I won’t say more because *spoilers*). I’m hoping that this issue is resolved in the next book. Second, I had a hard time with the fact that Amalie was an 18 year old who was about to go to University in the UK but is now being forced to start as a junior in the US because she was “behind”, despite having good grades. It just didn’t make sense especially not with the story when all of her friends (minus Poppy) and Jake are seniors. If they wanted to have her be a senior because she was missing some requirement for US schools or so that she could complete a year and take the SATs that would be different but her being a junior just bothered me throughout the entire book. I also kept wondering why she was even living with her grandma and listening to anyone about having to go to high school instead of just applying for college and it wasn’t until a while into the book that she finally addressed that issue (sort of). I’m hoping these issues are corrected in the next book, despite not being their story anymore, and maybe she’s able to move to be a senior or something since she’s doing well and should already be in college. Lastly, while I understood that Amalie spoke different because she is from London, the other characters in the book also used phrases and words that kids in the US don’t you (like saying “the lot of you/them”).
Despite the issues that I had with the book, I did really enjoy it and will definitely continue this series.
This was my first read by this author. All I have to say is I am completely hooked! This story about Jake and Amalie blew me away! You can’t help but fall in love with these characters. Jake and Amalie meet at school and there is no love lost between them, but mostly on Jake’s part. Amalie doesn’t know what she had done to anger him, so she tries to stay away. But for some reason, he can’t leave her alone. Does he truly hate her? Love her? Amalie never backs down and Jake has met his match with her. These two have incredible chemistry that makes your heart beat and your body swoon. You just feel it in your very soul that they belong together. I loved this so much that I read it in one sitting! Absolutely amazing! This author has found a new fan in me!
This is not my normal romance genre, but I love Tracy Lorraine’s books so I had to read it since she is a favorite author of mine.
Jake and Amalie have a great story. At first, Jake is hard to like. No one likes a bully. But as we learn more about him, it becomes easier to forgive him. Amalie is a total sweetheart. She’s easy to love. For those that are particular, there are a few places where British English is used when the American characters are speaking. Also, since this is based in an American, unless it Amalie speaking, I felt like the U.S. English should have been used. But as usual, Tracy wrote a wonderful story and I am looking forward to Camila and Mason’s story.

I liked this book. It is a YA bully romance so be prepared for boatloads of angst, intense emotions and drama. I thought Amelie was a great character and I loved her. My heart just broke for her but she was strong and no shrinking violet. She really had more than enough pain in her life without Jake and his aggressive BS. As for Jake, he inspired complicated feelings in me. He was a colossal, arrogant jerk but I did find myself occasionally feeling sorry for him. I couldn’t deny the chemistry and sparks that flew between these two though even if I wanted to.

Amelie has had to say goodbye to her parents and leave the only home she has ever known. She comes to America to live with her grandma. She just wants to make it through school and get through with no problems. Everything is good until she unknowingly catches the eye of Jake the hot jock. He does just about anything to make her feel bad. The poor girl has been through the ringer and does not need this type of abuse. How much can one person deal with in shot? Will they ever have peace between them?

LOVED THIS! One of my guilty pleasures lately is YA bully romance, and this one hit all the marks for me. Tracy Lorraine delivered a powerful and emotional, all-consuming story that left me obsessed and yearning for more.
Jake Thorn is the star football player on his team that everyone wants a piece of. The guys want to be him and the girls hope to lock him down. He’s sexy and talented with a bad boy reputation, but nobody really knows that deep down he’s broken and tormented by his past. A past that he’s tried so hard to move on from, but then he meets her. She reminds him of what he lost, and the blistering hatred begins to grow, making her his number one enemy.
Amalie has suffered a great loss, and therefore, has no choice but to leave London and make a new life for herself in America. Suffering in silence, she hopes to fly under the radar as she adjusts to her new reality. Things are going pretty well until she meets him. He is determined to make her life hell, but despite all of the push and pull, there is undeniable mutual attraction there. But will Jake be able to work through this anger to see her for who she really is?
This new Rosewood High series starts out with a bang and never lets up. This enemies-to-lovers, bully romance was EVERYTHING and more. The fiery sexual tension and feisty back and forth banter had me absolutely hooked, devouring each and every word. It is an exciting roller coaster ride from the beginning to the end. You will need to clear your schedule for this because once you start, you won’t be able to stop. I can’t recommend this book enough!
This is the 1st book in a new series and is Jake and Amalie’s story. Both characters have been broken by their pasts, and Jake’s hatred of Amalie is tangible. Will Amalie put up with this bad boy’s bullying? No spoilers, this is a story that is a must read for any lover of this type of genre, as you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story which is intense, emotional, heart-breaking, and with angst which all leads to a steamy read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner and look forward to reading more in this series.
This was a good story. It has a well developed story and well defined characters. The history provided for the characters was needed to understand their stories and by they acted as they did within the story. It has a cute ending that was also a cliff hanger of sorts. I am not a fan of YA romance so this was my first YA book.

Thorn was such a great bully romance! I’m not usually a big bully romance fan, but I love Tracy’s books!
Amalie & Jake are both such amazing characters. Amalie is hurting and just trying to make it through her new life, but Jake won’t leave her alone. Jake hates Amalie from the get go. They’re both full of pain and just trying to make it.
It was hard to read at times, but I loved it and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series!!
Oh my gosh! The angst in this had me on the edge the whole time I was reading it but I couldn’t put it down. No matter how much anxiety and frustration I felt, Tracy’s books always suck me in. She has a way of writing the troubled souls that make you feel everything. I was hooked and had to know what was making Amalie and Jake tick. I needed to know where this hatred Jake had was coming from. This is one of the best bully romances I’ve read and I can’t wait for more from Rosewood.
WOW , this is so different from what Tracy writes and I can honestly say that I couldn’t put it down , Jake and Amalie are great well developed characters in this Bully romance read , this book will have you hooked until the end and can’t wait for Mason and Camila’s book
