“Elemental Mysteries turned into one of the best paranormal series I’ve read this year. It’s sharp, elegant, clever, evenly paced without dragging its feet and at the same time emotionally intense.” –Nocturnal Book Reviews

When the world as you knew it has changed forever, is there any way you can turn back?
Beatrice De Novo thought she had left the supernatural world behind… for the most … behind… for the most part. But when the past becomes the present, will she leave her quiet life in Los Angeles to follow a mystery she thought had abandoned her? Where has Giovanni Vecchio been, and why has he returned? Giovanni has his own questions, and he’s looking to her for answers.
This Same Earth is the sequel to A Hidden Fire. It is the second book in the Elemental Mysteries, a paranormal romance and mystery series.

Another Excellent Elemental Mysteries Book
As book two in the Elemental Mysteries series, I was not disappointed. Again, Elizabeth Hunter took me on another adventure with Beatrice and Gio. Travelling around the world, or so it seems. It starts with Beatrice, writing in a journal while vacationing in the Cochamo Valley every summer for five years. From there the story starts. It was truly another page turner, which I hated to put down, but had to sleep sometime. I really liked that Beatrice didn’t run headlong back into Gio’s arms, but made sure of her feelings first. In other words, kind of played hard to get. Thank heavens this is no insta-love romance. There is plenty of tension between Beatrice and Gio, as well as funny sarcasm. I sure did get some laughs in this book, as well as the first.
You also get more information on Elizabeth Hunter’s vampire world dynamics. How different clans work and how alliances are made. It makes for some very interesting reading.
She does spin a tale worth reading, and reads so well and effortlessly. Again, just the way it was written you could just imagine being part of the story. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I highly recommend this series.
I enjoyed the first book which set up a weird, unique elemental vampiric world, and the second book took me by surprise. The timeline remains clunky, but this time it starts with Giovanni leaving Beatrice for years of her life. He tried to give her space to learn and grow into her own person without interfering, and she tries her best to do so and move on without him, but she’s never really the same. I can understand it from a developmental aspect; however I’m getting tired of authors using this and then they magically forgive each other and move on with their soul-mated lives. Granted, Hunter does this better than most, and there is a long time before B even begins to forgive Gio and she documents the path back to trust and love, but it’s still irksome at times. I love the addition of Ben to the mix, and gives them a fresh take on things from a different, witty, sarcastic teenager point of view. I was really dumbfounded at the turn of events, but it didn’t put me off of the series completely, so I’ll keep going to see what happens next.
‘This Same Earth,’ is an excellent follow up to, ‘A Hidden Fire!’ We have all the passion, drive, and commitment as the last novel; with an added level of danger, that you know, we’ve just touched the surface of. Elizabeth Hunter has created a world and storyline that draws you into the lives of these vivid characters… She makes you feel their heartbreak, loss, abandonment, and love that’s spills from these pages with her every word. I couldn’t put it down! It’s an interestingly new spin on vampires… it’s also wonderfully written and an incredible read!
This series is awesome…absolutely loved this book and series.
Would highly recommend to anyone.
Well edited, fairly good story. Some interesting twists. I thought the male lead character, Giovanni Vecchio was a total jerk towards the woman he supposedly loves . Beatrice or B as she likes to be called is a smart, interesting character but I couldn’t stand that she didn’t make him really suffer for how he left her! In fact, I was so annoyed by the character that I put the book down for a couple of weeks and debated finishing it. Finally picked it up again since I paid for it (not on KU) and finished it. I did give the story 4 stars instead of the 3 that I planned because the story was well written and the character, Gio, improved in how he treated Beatrice towards the end. I am not invested enough in the series to go on to the next book though, unless I can get it at a good sale price.
At the start Gio and Beatrice are living separate lives. She’s all grown up with a career and a boyfriend, and he’s watching her from afar. I admit, some of this was annoying. I do hate the overly aloof male. Yes, it adds some mystery, but mostly it’s irritating. And she’s still pining for him.
However, once they get back together, the story starts to move forward and we learn a lot more about Gio, his past, vampire politics, and the big story, which is the mystery behind Gio’s missing books, and one in particular. Why is it so important? What secrets does it hold?
There’s also the mystery of Beatrice’s father’s disappearance, and how he’s involved with Gio’s book.
Essentially this is a chase encompassing different countries, vampire courts and romance. And a good set up for book 3.
This series is one of my all time favorite. I couldn’t put them down. I wish I could read them again for the first time.
