A smart and sexy romance about a grumpy single dad on a mission of revenge, and the girl he can’t leave behind by USA Today bestselling author Tia Louise.
Hope
I blame the alcohol.
I lost my restaurant business, was forced to sell my dad’s cherished 1967 Chevy Impala, and I got a little drunk.
Now I’m waking up with the hottest, angriest guy I’ve ever seen, speeding down the highway like a … drunk.
Now I’m waking up with the hottest, angriest guy I’ve ever seen, speeding down the highway like a bat out of hell.
Ice-blue eyes hit mine with stomach-clenching force…
And he swerves onto the shoulder, ready to kick me out.
Needless to say, our romance doesn’t start out sweet.
J.R.
Two years ago, I hugged my little boy goodbye and told him I’d be right back.
Next thing I knew, I was arrested and sent to prison for a crime I didn’t commit.
Until they let me out early…
Now I’m headed home to confront the man who put me away.
A lie put me behind bars, and I’m ready to find the truth.
I don’t have time for a sexy girl with pale blonde hair and bright blue eyes stowed away on the backseat of my new car.
My mission is to get my son back and clear my name.
Love is not on the agenda.
It never is, though, is it?
(THIS MUCH IS TRUE is a single-dad, opposites attract, stand-alone romance. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

I highly recommend This Much is True to all romance lovers because it’s a story that not touched me on so many levels it also ticked all my boxes. This is single dad J.R and Hope’s story and boy do they have a tale to tell.
This is a couple not looking for a relationship or love but we don’t always have control over out hearts and it seems fate wants these two to look to the future and leave the hurt from their pasts behind. The one thing this couple have in common is they are both hurting from their pasts…..
This book has it all, it’s emotional and it captivated me from the first page to the last line, I swooned and I sighed, I laughed and I cried as I joined J.R and Hope on their journey. I fell hook, line and sinker for this couple but I also loved seeing some old faces from previous books make a cameo appearance. If you are looking for an emotional yet entertaining read with just the right mix of drama and humour look no further that This Much is True.
This Much is True is an amazing read. You will love John (JR) and Hope. There are so many feels surrounding them that will suck you right in. John steals the book with his love of his son. I love how Hope helps John fight to clear his name. There is something about this one that will make you smile and feel all warm inside as John and Hope take a trip across the country. I loved every moment of this one and couldn’t put it down.
Loved this unique meet cute story. JR and Hope give each other a wide berth, but they can not resist their chemistry. Both finding love when least expected. Scout is so much fun too, can’t wait to see what’s in store for him.. Loved it!!
~3.5 Stars~
What’s a road trip without a stowaway? The trio comes to a reluctant (JR) agreement and continue on their way. A budding friendship is in the works between Hope and Scout, both are likable and luckily for JR, he gets to know more about her without getting too close. Their road trip is entertaining to say the least. There’s the fun, quirky times, the somber, vulnerable times, the honest, serious times and that’s just while they’re on the road. The story is complex and emotional, dreams are chased, lost and fought for. In all, I did enjoy the characters and their story.
This Much Is True was such a great read. It was a beautiful love story with a single father on a journey to get his freedom and son back who ends up with a stowaway! JR and Hope’s slow burn relationship and connection was everything! I loved loved those two alot. JR was grumpy, sexy and swoony. Hope was really sweet and sassy. Could not get enough of them. Scout was pretty great as well!! Looking forward to reading his book.
With a strong start that ensured I was a very willing reader of/ participant in, this fabulous roadtrip romance, This Much is True boosted my spirits and made me feel better for reading it. I fell in Iove with the dynamic trio of JR, Hope and Scout. Fabulous names which bring an extra dimension to the story. Great dialogue, crazy adventures, a fight for justice and love, are just some of the well devised aspects of this very readable and completely charming book. I loved it and am really looking forward to Scout’s story!
Absolutely phenomenal book. Tia knows how to write a story that will reach out and grab ahold of your heart and emotions and give you characters that you fall in love with. What happens when you are convicted of a felony that you didn’t commit? John Roth aka lost everything his wife and 2 years of his sons life and wants to clear his name and to get even with his dad,but what he didn’t expect is a stowaway in the car he bought. Hope has lost everything due to covid and getting drunk and passing out in the car she sold finding herself meeting the man who bought her car but can they help each other out? This book was absolutely an emotional read and they storyline flowed from the beginning until the end. I absolutely loved it.
Well this started off a bit sad but once it got going I was basically sitting there urging them on.
J.R got the rough end of life by the looks of it but he’s not going to let that get him down, he’s going to get his life back if it’s the last thing he does and reading the way he goes about it was a pleasure.
Hope was in the same predicament when they met but she eventually starts to get herself sorted out and just when things start to go right….well you will have to read it and see.
Set in current times when the COVID pandemic is going on in 2020 it brings to life how much family does mean and how far one will go for that family.
A very enjoyable read that held my attention by one of my favorite authors.
I received a copy of this in exchange for this, my honest opinion, I loved it!
This Much Is True is one of those books that you pick up and cannot put down. I found myself drawn in from the first page and was fully invested in this story throughout. I loved everything about it from the characters to the premise to the emotional rollercoaster ride it took me on. Tia Louise broke my heart but pieced it back together perfectly and I loved every minute of it!
I adored the character of Hope. She was a free spirit with a heart of gold. She struggled but always had a positive outlook which was completely endearing. JR was all sorts of grumpy and it was a hoot to watch his walls slowly come down. He was on a mission but couldn’t help but fall for the beautiful Hope who was a ray of light in his otherwise bleak existence. Their chemistry was strong and I found myself rooting for them from their first meeting. I adored JR’s brother Scout. He brought the perfect amount of humor and fun to balance out the otherwise heavy story. Add in JR’s adorable son Jessie and you will be completely taken with this well-rounded cast of characters. I loved everything about this story and you will too! 5 stars
This is such an adorable book.
It was the first time I’ve read a book taking place during the pandemic and it was really interesting, more than I thought it would be.
It made some things more relatable, with the talk about masks, economic crises, Hope’s struggle and all.
Hope and JR were both dealing with so many problems, that seemed to be piling up instead of being solved. But as they were confined inside a car, facing a long, long road trip and helped by the funny, laid back and adorable Scout, things started to look better by the mile.
Hope and JR couldn’t be more different, but both craved the same things, they yearned for justice, peace, comfort, love and, as the days went by, a future together.
And the secondary characters made everything even sweeter (well, not all of them, but the important ones: JR’s brother, son and granny).
A sweet read to bring hope and love.
This was such an amazing read! I love Tia Louise’s writing style and storytelling. I loved JR and Hope separately, but I loved them even more as a couple. Their chemistry was undeniable, and overall, it was just a beautiful, feel-good story. I can’t wait for Scout and Daisy’s book! This one is definitely recommended!
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review of This Much Is True.
I absolutely loved this funny, sexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming romance! I am a sucker for grumpy sexy single dads and this story captured my heart right from the very start! JR could have played professional football, but all he wanted was a family and to take care of those that he loves. Unfortunately he paid the ultimate price and is now trying to rebuild his life. Hope is at a crossroads after her dream business failed. After a night of drinking, she wakes up in the back of a car driving cross country with a grumpy yet sexy, JR, and his charming brother, Scout. JR wants to leave her on the side of the road but Scout convinces him to bring her along. JR is on a mission to clear his name and be the father his young son needs. As they travel the highways, and back roads, they not only come across some crazy characters, they form a bond and connection neither of them expected. Scout and Hope become friends as they make each other laugh, but JR and Hope have an attraction and fiery chemistry that is undeniable. Hope is kind, and optimistic, and she has an adventurous spirit that calls to JR. He is surly, and brusque at first, but down deep is a loving father and brother. Hope gives him a hopefullness for the life he has always wanted and thought he lost. Even though they are both so different, they fall easily and completely for each other. As their worlds collide, secrets come to light, and wrongs need to be made right. When things don’t go as planned, they must decide if their love is strong enough to endure. I fell so fast and hard, and became so invested in these wonderfully fun, and flawed characters, and their story hooked me right from the start! It had such a natural flow as it uncovered so many layers and depth of each character. I really felt like I understood them and their decisions and couldn’t help falling in love with them. I loved this fun, heartfelt, and steamy story and can’t wait for more about Scout next!
Oh my gosh!!! This takes the meet cute to a whole new level!! Add in a grumpy hero who is seriously fighting what he’s feeling, and not doing a very good job of it, and you’ve got an amazing story!
I have been anxiously waiting for this book since I learned about it. JR had all the earmarks for a perfect hero. The fact that he was so imperfect made him more desirable in my mind. I loved the way he grumbled and groused. The way he glared and frowned. The way he turned away from Hope. And the way he fell in love with her. Gah!!! I absolutely adored everything about him!
Having an awesome hero means I don’t have to worry too much about the heroine. I usually don’t anyway because they don’t carry a lot of weight in whether I enjoy a book or not. However, when I’m given one that shines as bright as Hope did, I’m all over it. She was exactly what JR needed and I loved her more than I could imagine. I could feel her shine from within the pages of the book.
This was filled with so many emotions. I laughed at so many of the fun, quirky comments, moments and incidents that took place not just between JR and Hope but with Scout as well. My heart cracked one minute only to spring free in joy the next. I ooh’d and aww’d over the interactions between JR and his son as well as Hope and him. And when I grow old(er), I want to be like Gran. All of that and I didn’t even mention the crazy road trip, bad guys, hotel showers, and the kindle melting sizzle of chemistry between Hope and JR.
For a book I didn’t know about until a few months ago, this has become one of my top favorites for the year, if not for all time.
Buckle up my friends and be ready to take a road trip that will give you everything that you want in a Romance book. It has All the swoons, all the steam, all the emotion and all the excitment that when I had to put it down I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again.
I am absolutely in Love with this book and the characters,I eased through each chapter as Tia’s words flowed so smoothly like silk and enchanted me until the end.I must have felt every emotion,I laughed, I cried, felt frustrated and reflective as I became totally engrossed with every word upon each page.
I knew no sense of time as I took this road trip with J.R ,his Brother Scout and their little stowaway Hope.I felt as though I was cruising down the road with all three of them in the backseat of the Impala watching on as friendships start to form and the attraction unfolds between J.R and Hope.
I adore all 3 of them I LOVED Scout he was open and friendly, hopeful and positive the complete opposite to his sexy brother J.R Who was angry and cynical. His views on life and people were negative and he found it hard to trust. But that was because he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit and went to jail taking him away from his son Jesse…and revenge was the only thing on his mind until her.
Hope Eternal Hill was like a ray of light ,she was brave, bold ,friendly and a little minx when she wanted to be,she softened J.R’s hard edges and believed in him and their connection, even when he was giving up.He wanted to be free ,he needed to clear his name but could he do that when things never seemed to go his way.
I cannot say enough great things about this story.Tia’s writing just gets better and better, she creates characters I want to know and worlds I want to live in and I completely fell in love with Hope, J.R and Scout ,who teach us through their tale to never give up on your dreams no matter what, even when your faced with obstacles and things seem impossible.Needing help from others is not a weakness and HOPE is Always there you just have to believe.
If I could give this book a million Stars it wouldn’t be enough.Because This Much Is True to me that this book is Romance perfection and it made my heart so warm and happy it is Beautiful ,sexy and sweet in all the right places and an incredible must read that I highly recommend.
Magnificent.
Luv JR so much.
I really enjoyed this book but its Tia Louise book so I knew I would. The story was good and I luvd the characters from the start. JR and Hope’s story was easy they’re both goin through some hard time in very different ways. Lockdown might be getting in the way of Hope’s dreams but for JR its a very different story and a hard one.
JR hasn’t had an easy few year but he really needs to be strong and make is life better. He needs answers to what happened and nothing is goin to stop him from getting them. There’s just one lil problem and thats the gorgeous woman in the back seat of his new car. JR really doesn’t need getting in his way but there is just something about this woman that gets under his skin.
I luvd Hope from the start she’s a strong woman dealing with so much goin on in her life. Things aren’t good and there isn’t anything changing and time soon. She misses her dad and her dream is getting further away with everyday lockdown is on. But there is one thing she can do smile and try an make things better as much as she can. Hope did have a plan but it took a lil detour when she met the very beautiful sexy JR. This man made her feel something she hadn’t in a long time but there was something him that she should resist it just wasn’t easy.
Im a huge fan of Tia and her books there alway so good. So I can alway recommend her books and this book is the same. The story flowed so well and writing is so good. JR and Hope are great characters and there story is so good. When everything isn’t looking good they found each other when they really needed someone. Even though JR knew it wasn’t the right time he didn’t have a choice where Hope was. She is just someone that could make things better even for a short time. JR did the same for Hope they just needed a lil push together from Scout. I LUV his character he’s JR’S brother and brilliant. Im dying for his book I just know its goin to be great he’s so funny and different to JR but he has his own story and just with the small part we got of him in this book I just know its goin to be great. I’m really looking to more of him.
So unique, fun, sweet, emotional and really hot! Everything and (almost) everyone in this book was awesome. JR and Hope had to work pretty hard for their happy ending but I loved the ride. Can’t wait to go back to Fireside!
O.M.G! Holy Molly! Have mercy!
While reading, my whole body ached and it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest! My heart was racing, I gasped for air, my hands were shaking … that’s what Hope and John’s story did to me!
This is not just a love story. No, it’s a darn thriller too. What begins innocently as a road trip quickly becomes so much more, on so many levels.
All the characters are amazing, multi-layered, full of life, and I loved every single one of them (except John’s father and Becky).
This book made me smile like a fool until my cheeks hurt. And it made me cry ugly tears because I felt so heartbroken. Then I felt like I was floating on cloud nine before I crashed down as hard as never before …
This is the best book by Ms. Louise that I have read so far, and I don’t know how it could be surpassed by any future book by her!
What a fantastic story!! “Ex Con” meets innocence in an incredible story filled with lots and lots of trouble. Im always a sucker for a single dad romance. JR is such a rough around the edges guy and seeing him melt for his son is so sweet. Hope is the perfect woman for him. I loved every single page!! Tia never ceases to amaze me!
Man what a book! I was hooked from the first chapter. These characters were amazing and showed so much heart. I loved how unique and fresh this storyline was. I cannot wait for more of these characters!
WOW. Hope and JR took me on a whirlwind ride. Bad luck has hit them both hard and they’re each trying to find a way to get up and keep moving forward. Hope has a dream she’s willing to fight to reclaim, while JR is fighting to reclaim his good name and reputation in life. When a chance meeting that almost results in wrecking Metallicar (think Baby in Supernatural), JR ends up with Hope as copilot on the adventure of their lives. Add in his brother, Scout, and we’re off!
I loved how this story flowed and how it made me not want to put it down. I laughed, I was so angry my hands shook, I wanted to cry, and my heart ached when it seemed like JR would truly come out the loser. But then Hope proved that she was so very appropriately named and helped to save the day.
My only complaint is that the story was finished too soon. I knew the end was coming, but I kept hoping that my progress bar was wrong and that I’d live in Hope’s and JR’s minds a little longer. Now I have to wait to see how Scout manages to turn his luck around!
