A smart and sexy romance about a grumpy single dad on a mission of revenge, and the girl he can’t leave behind by USA Today bestselling author Tia Louise.
Hope
I blame the alcohol.
I lost my restaurant business, was forced to sell my dad’s cherished 1967 Chevy Impala, and I got a little drunk.
Now I’m waking up with the hottest, angriest guy I’ve ever seen, speeding down the highway like a … drunk.
Now I’m waking up with the hottest, angriest guy I’ve ever seen, speeding down the highway like a bat out of hell.
Ice-blue eyes hit mine with stomach-clenching force…
And he swerves onto the shoulder, ready to kick me out.
Needless to say, our romance doesn’t start out sweet.
J.R.
Two years ago, I hugged my little boy goodbye and told him I’d be right back.
Next thing I knew, I was arrested and sent to prison for a crime I didn’t commit.
Until they let me out early…
Now I’m headed home to confront the man who put me away.
A lie put me behind bars, and I’m ready to find the truth.
I don’t have time for a sexy girl with pale blonde hair and bright blue eyes stowed away on the backseat of my new car.
My mission is to get my son back and clear my name.
Love is not on the agenda.
It never is, though, is it?
(THIS MUCH IS TRUE is a single-dad, opposites attract, stand-alone romance. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

*This Much is True* by Tia Louise is a book that I really enjoyed, and the setting describes perfectly the times we are going through right now very well done Mrs Louise! As usual it is a story that was well written, and I love all books that this author writes.
I felt so bad for JR, poorthing went through so much, he goes on a road trip to redemption, and get his adorable son Jess back, along for the ride the sunshine that is Hope finds herself with a grumpy JR, but She’s is hot and sweet and quickly she makes him just a little less grumps and mad. They have this instance connection; and a chemistry that has sparks flying like the 4th of July. He is such a great dad too. Hope is the lightness to his darkness!
Scout is freaking hilarious, love him and can’t wait for his turn.
This book had all the feels you want in a romance including a little humor, no cliffhanger and I recommend it.
I received this as an ARC fro Tia Louise, thank you so much! My review is given voluntarily
This book is a sublime mix of so many quirky things. They say that truth is stranger than fiction, but I think This Much Is True gives that notion a run for its money. I don’t mean this in a critical way. I love how all those strange occurrences came together in the author’s mind to produce this book! The main male character, J.R., is suddenly released early from an unjust prison sentence. A city/country is on lockdown due to the pandemic. The main female character, Hope, has lost her business due to said pandemic and has to sell her hippy father’s vintage car to J.R. to make ends meet. That doesn’t even mention J.R.’s brother, Scout, who has his own woes; namely, being flimflammed into having his nude photos appear in a gay porn magazine. Overall, though, the story of J.R.’s plan to clear his name and reputation, and trying to get back home to the 5-year-old son he hasn’t seen in 2 years, is the serious and angsty part of the book.
But then, there’s the “You stole my granny’s panties?” part! No matter how wonderful the book’s characters are (this book has those in spades), or how suspenseful the plot is (this one is engrossing), or how sensually carnal a book is (and this one definitely has that sizzle)—I always love when the author shows us their sense of humor through the story. And Tia definitely provides her readers with some good laughs along with the mix of angst and tension and beautiful love scenes!
Between laughing at Tia’s humorous scenes, and shedding tears over a love-match that might never come to fruition, I truly enjoyed This Much Is True. I give it 5 stars, and I’d give it more if I could.
As for “granny’s panties,” you’ll have to read the book yourself to find out.
JR and Hope set out on an adventure, an adventure neither were prepared. I absolutely LOVED JR. when the truth is revealed behind his sentence my heart broke for him. I could t believe it! It definitely was NOT what I expected. I LOVED how Hope was there for him and how he wanted to do for her. It was truly a BEAUTIFUL STORY! Can’t WAIT! Scot
A fantastic unexpected road trip adventure filled with humor, redemption, steamy chemistry, and heart-warming moments. This Much is True is an unputdownable page-turner and I’m ecstatic that the story will be expanded to tell Scout’s story next!
4.5 stars
This story has redemption and second chances as the backbone of it’s theme. JR and Hope are two people both looking for a second chance for themselves when they find themselves on a road trip together. Lots of drama and suspense follow them and interrupt their happiness. This book makes the characters really fight for their happy ending and I love that. I both cried and laughed while reading this story, but this much is true: Hope springs eternal.
JR Dunne was jailed for a crime he didn’t commit. He’s looking to clear his name and reclaim his life. Hope Eternal Hill lost her new restaurant and is looking for a way to survive now that her dreams were crushed by the pandemic. They are two strangers brought together by fate for a road trip that will tie them together forever. Neither looking for love or romance. But, they are drawn together by fate even as life tries to pull them apart.
This Much Is True had an expected plot. It was a sweet romance set amongst the grit of a pandemic and JR’s troubles. JR is broody, but has every right to be. He’s an amazing father and just wants his son back in his life. And, now he wants Hope as well! Hope is a ray of sunshine. She truly believes in the good of people and always looks for the silver lining. She’s loving and loyal and determined and everything JR needs to help him move on from all that was stolen from him.
I also wanted to shout out JR’s brother Scout. I adored him as a character. A good friend and loyal brother, he’s charming and also has an amazing sense of humor. He is definitely the type of person you want on your side through both good and bad times and I can’t wait for his story!
This was my first “pandemic” romance and I think the author did a fabulous job of acknowledging the hardships and differences in our current reality without letting it dominate or ruin the romance between JR and Hope. 4.5 stars.
Another hit for Tia Louise.
I love this story! Hope and J.R.’s journey to love is sweet, beautiful, funny and sexy. J.R. is a sexy and grumpy single Dad. Hope is sweet, funny, and beautiful. They share a strong and sizzling chemistry. The story is set during the lockdown. The road trip is fun! The storyline is captivating. I loved Gran, Scout and the little Jesse. I love the ending. Jason Clarke, and Samantha Brentmoor did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it!
It grabbed me from page one and I couldn’t put it down! Amazing characters, amazing story, amazing chemistry, heartache, heartwarming, sweet and sexy. You will not want to miss this one. Can’t wait to read Scout’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
When I saw the premise for This Much is True, I thought, this sounds different for Tia Louise. I also thought this sounds fun. I’m in. And I am so glad I picked this up because I was engrossed in Hope and J.R.’s story from the get go.
I really liked Hope. She was down on her luck for sure but never counted herself out. Even when all the odds were stacked against her, she kept pushing forward. She pushed herself right into a road trip with strangers that would inevitably change her life. And J.R.’s too. For as soft and kind as Hope was J.R. was hard and surly. He was on a mission. He didn’t have time for distractions but he couldn’t get his mind off of the woman taking up residence in the back seat.
This much is True had it all. A drunken night. The coolest car (like I seriously want Metallicar for myself). A great cast of characters. I mean we all need a GA in our lives! A setup that went wayyyy deep, A Remington Tate sighting. And a journey none of them expected. I hung on every word of J.R. and Hope’s unlikely but completely addicting romance. And that ending…so worth the wait.
Audio Review
Great story that includes the Covid pandemic but doesn’t focus on it. Hope is struggling like everyone else during this difficult time to stay afloat and when things gets bad enough she must sell her dads prize car she has no idea where that will lead her. J.R. is released early from prison due to the virus and he is determined to see his son and prove he is innocent from the crimes that put him in prison two years ago. He has no idea what purchasing a car online will bring him but in the end it saves him.
This story has some mystery, lots of built up heat between Hope and JR and the love of a father for his young son that gets him through. They are dealing with the real struggles lot of us are dealing with currently with the virus and how just traveling across country is a challenge we have not experienced before. It is heartwarming and I loved it.
Jason Clarke and Samantha Broadmoor are great as JR and Hope. Loved listening to both of them.
I highly recommend this book.
This Much Is True is a single dad opposites attract storyline that will melt your heart. This is a fun and entertaining listen with a roadtrip. Little Jesse was so sweet and adorable I loved his character. Favourites, Gran and Scout hilarious. Jr and Hope were compelling characters with off the charts chemistry. Secrets exposed and action throughout keeping your ears tuned.
Narrators Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmour were perfect bringing the story and the characters to life. I love listening to Jason Clarke as his inflection is soothing. Samantha Brentmoor is a talented narrator and she nailed the performance of Hope.
This is a single dad, opposites attract romance. JR is on a mission to get his son back and clear his name for a crime he didn’t commit and Hope is the girl who accidentally goes along for the ride! Loved the chemistry between JR and Hope!! He so grumpy lol and as much as he tried to ignore it, he finally can’t resist!! I loved Gran and Scout- they are hilarious, and I can’t forget sweet little Jesse!! A great story set in Covid times that was packed with humor, love and lots of action!! I read and listened to the audiobook and the audio made it even better the 2nd time around!!
I can’t wait to get Scout’s story in Trouble that coming out Spring 2021!!
This Much is True by Tia Louise was EPIC. Obviously there’s so much more to it than that simple statement, but I felt it important to stress that from the beginning. Opposites attract, single dad, revenge, and so much more had me HOOKED from start to finish!
J. R. is EVERYTHING. His drive, his passion, his thirst for what he is owed, all of it combined into a delicious package of a man that I just wanted to get to know very well if you get what I mean!
And Hope? She is so endearing! She is sweet and innocent and naive and a dreamer yet also has a spine of steel, strong convictions, and a fierce desire to love and be loved.
The chemistry? Out of this world hot! It sparked continuously, even as they fought against it, a lot of weight and history and fears and drama and tension hanging in the balance between them. But it sure did make for excellent reading, even if it did have me on TENTERHOOKS and occasionally trying to decide if I wanted to cry, cheer, sob, swoon, or sigh! Meaning, it was incredibly well done! And I know it will draw you in too and not let go!
All in all, this was one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey and I adored every single page of it and I know you will too. If you’re looking for a story that has character development, strength, revenge, family, and love, look no further than This Much is True!
P. S. I cannot wait for Scout’s story. Perhaps with Daisy? My imagination had all sorts of bells and whistles going, and I cannot wait to find out more! Bring on Twist or Fate!
JR has been given a raw deal. Wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, he is out for revenge. He wants those responsible to pay and to get his good name back. More importantly he wants to see his son. He will risk it all for his little boy.
Hope Eternal Hill is on the verge of losing hope. She lost her restaurant, her dad is in rehab and she now finds herself a stowaway in the car she just sold. Once you have her trust and loyalty she is hard to shake. As soon as things start to look good, things switch up and it looks hopeless. I laughed, I had tears in my eyes, I got mad. During A road trip full of laughs, revealed secrets and character to love. Even when things were looking bad, at least one of the characters always had hope. I fell for all the character: grumpy JR, sweet Hope, Scout(Rammin’ Rod) crazy Grandma Alice and adorable Jesse. A great story of love and hope.
What a fabulous adventure this book takes us on. Tia Louise give us some fly by the seat of your pants fun in this standalone story. Lots of laughs and humor help offset the anger and grumpiness.
Hope is feeling melancholy as she has to sell her dads dream car, while her dreams seem to be getting further and further out of reach. Deciding one last celebration won’t hurt, she finds herself on the open road with a stranger who is not too happy with her. After a little convincing he agrees to take her along for the ride. What more is there to do than to talk and tell stories from the past?
J.R. is a man on a mission. Being released from prison on early dismissal he has to see is son, and find out why his father set him up and let him take the fall. Knowing he can’t leave the state he heads on his way home with the help of his brother Scout. This is the longest 3 days of his life and things are not at all as he expected when he gets to Fireside. Learning to go with the punches, J.R. is determined to return and clear his name.
Could a chance meet and three days in the car be the beginning of something more or is it just a quick bit of fun? When you can’t stop thinking about him/her, it really makes you wonder. Can J.R. clear his name and find the life he always wished for. Could hope get her dreams and so much more?

Kudos to Tia Louise on another amazing book! Hope was down on her luck but when she met the grumpy but sexy JR (John) things changed for the both of them. Finding love was the last thing they anticipated on this impromptu road trip. Along with JR’s kind hearted brother Scout, this story was a great read!
Single dad and covid related story that keeps you entertained, we have John Roth Dunne and Hope Eternal Hill, they find themselves on a road trip and things get well more than interesting, this two characters couldn’t be more opposite to each other and you know what happens with that saying opposites attract. The story was very entertaining the audiobook was narrated by the very talented Jason Clarke and Samantha Broadmoor, the audiobook is fantastic so I truly recommend getting it. Another great story by Tia Louise!
The author pulls you into the story and you want to just stay there, you don’t want to leave! This romance gives the reader everything they could hope for!! You have the grumpy hero that just got out of jail for a crime he didn’t commit. The heroine has lost everything because of the virus meaning that the job she had is gone, her money has depleted and now she’s got to sell her car to have some money. She’s resilient and determined to not let the hurdles thrown her way define her!
JR and Hope are an opposites attract and you can feel that they need each other the chemistry is there dying to spark and once it does it will engulf them both in the heat!
Overall, it’s a single dad, stand alone that you’ll definitely want to read! There is no cheating and it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. Both those things are key points that I adore! Loved it! Highly recommend!! Must read!!
Tia has outdone herself once again!!! JR and Hope are epic together! I’ve been dying for a road trip romance and TMIT ticked all of my boxes.
JR… SWOOOOON!!! He’s hot and broody – a man on a mission.
Hope is bubbly and someone I’d love as a friend.
During the road trip, these two opposites are thrown together and they take us on a journey I wish I could be a part of. TMIT was food for my soul.
