USA Today Best Selling Author, Willow Winters, brings you an all-consuming, sizzling romance featuring an epic, anti-hero you won’t soon forget. Some love stories are a slow burn. Others are quick to ignite, scorching and branding your very soul before you’ve taken that first breath. You’re never given a chance to run from it. That’s how I’d describe what happened to us.Everything around me … us.
Everything around me blurred and all that existed were his lips, his touch…
The chase and the heat between us became addictive.
Our nights together were a distraction; one we craved to the point of letting the world crumble around us.
We should have paid attention; we should have known that it would come to this.
We both knew it couldn’t last, but that didn’t change what we desired most.
All we wanted was each other…

Delilah is trying to keep her life as normal as possible while her job is threatening her sanity and her life! Her parents are unraveling before her eyes, her sister, Cadence, is pressuring her to help with their parents. Her life is being threatened by an unknown, is it Marcus or someone else. There is no way for her to know for sure. Cody Walsh wants to keep her safe, wants to protect her, especially from Marcus, but can he? Marcus appears and disappears at will and no one seems to be able to fine him much less control him. Is there a hint about Marcus’ backstory here? Was he the victim at one time? What does Cody know about Marcus that Delilah doesn’t and will he divulge all to her? This books hums with mystery and danger as Delilah tries to maintain her equilibrium and sanity through all the turmoil in her private and work life. This is one of Willow’s best series yet leaving you begging for more. I can’t wait for the next book to continue the story of these people. A hint of who Marcus might be is here. October is too far away for me!
This trilogy is one of my most anticipated series from Willow Winters, I have devoured every book within the Merciless Universe and Marcus has been in the shadows the whole time. A master manipulator, he plays his games, he communicates in riddles and has a hand in almost everything the Cross brothers touch. But is the man behind the shadows really as dark and maniacal as he seems?
This Love Hurts takes us back several years in time and allows the reader to get to know Officer Cody Walsh and Delilah, two people that we know are connected to Marcus but we don’t know how. Willow has created a masterpiece of a romantic suspense here. Building depth to the characters and their story by showing how their success becomes entangled in a web of deceit and trickery that may just be their downfall.
The chemistry in this novel is utterly captivating, for the first half of the novel I was so consumed with Walsh and Delilah; but as Part two progressed and I was hit with Chapter 16, I cannot help but be addicted to the connection Marcus and Delilah hold.
“It was only a kiss. If I tell myself that enough, one day I may believe it.”
A clever story full of intrigue, mystery and suspense within a world I never want to leave. I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this story with baited breath. As much as I want to know who Marcus is, I am just along for the ride and enjoying the mysterious quality he holds; it’s a quality that adds so much to this story.
I am happy to say I am current on the series..and have been looking forward to learning more about Marcus. Love to fill in more of the puzzle pieces as we discover more about Marcus. I love that when I begin to read the stories they are always roller coaster rides of emotions. The story comes alive from page one.
The prequel to This Love Hurts, Do You Want Me, is in the beginning of this book. I have been waiting so long to find out who Marcus is. Marcus is the man in the shadows, but in this series he is coming out of the shadows. These books kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting more and more. We are learning more about Marcus and Cody’s history throughout these books. This story the sassy heroine, the hero, and the antihero, but also so many questions. I can’t wait until the next book, there are so many answers I am looking for!
What a ride this will be. Willow writes such great books. We have the famous Markus,Cody and Delilah altogether. This story will have you changing the pages faster than ever. Markus is the ghost. Delilah has feelings for him but also Cody. This story is going to be a rollercoaster ride. I can’t wait for the next book.
I devoured this book! The only downside is that I just wanted more of this story! I cannot wait to read more of this series and “But I Need You” when it is released.
I started rooting for Delilah from the very beginning of this book. At every turn, she seems to be faced with troubles and heartbreak. Cody creates an unlikely balance in Delilah’s life. But, just like Delilah, there are secrets and skeletons in Cody’s closet that he isn’t ready to open up about. Cody and Delilah have a complex yet seemingly simple relationship. They need each other yet can’t fully open up to each other.
Then there is Marcus. How is it that I am rooting for the anti-hero?! Oh, but I am. I just want more of Marcus!
Intense and amazing! Just loved this book about Cody, Delilah and Marcus. It’s a strained, well executed triangle that will keep you guessing! I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Wow.
Just ….wow.
I’ve been waiting for Marcus for a long time and Willow did not disappoint. He’s still a man shrouded in mystery but the taste that we get of him is delicious. We get just enough of him to keep us salivating.
But it’s not just Marcus you want more of, it’s Delilah too. We meet Delilah during s stressful period of time in her life. As a high profile lawyer, she is always in the public’s eye. Well, her cases are atleast. That’s not easy to deal with. So imagine also being dragged in to a cat and mouse game….but you’re the mouse and you didn’t even know it?
I have no idea where this is gonna go ….but Willow promises one hell of a ride retting there.
*ends on a cliffhanger. Book 1 of a trilogy*
The writing ensnared my attention from page one! Willow begins to weave the great tale of the ever elusive Marcus. The book has three perspectives: Marcus, Cody, and Delilah. The reader gets a look into how their story intertwines. I felt like a participant in the room while reading. All the details were very vivid and really painted a great picture. We are left with a cliffhanger ending having us wonder, what will happen next with these three!
I have no other way to say what I have on my heart right now. Where’s the third book? God help me.
How can you think of a character without knowing her and falling in love with her? And that’s what Willow does to me in this book. I fell in love with Marcus. To experience such a reading. Suspense, drama, and mystery.
But, as much as love hurts and the heart crashes. When I got to the last page, I didn’t believe it ended that way.
Delilah Cody and Marcus in the shadows.
My feelings for each of the heroes are so complicated. Do I want the ending that everyone is looking for a love story or vice versa to get the ending in the dark way as this writer knows how to do?
Now I have to cut my fingernails and wait for the next book
I love a good romance suspense and this is just that. All the twists and turns had me glued to it. Marcus is an anti hero, the bad guy. But he seems to be helping Delilah or is he? And what’s Cody hiding, does he know more about Marcus than he’s saying? Can’t wait to read the next book to find out.
My heart is still racing.. there is so much happening, so much more of the story that we don’t know yet. I feel confused much like Delilah. I want to hate Marcus but there is something that stops me. I don’t know how Delilah, Cody and Marcus story is going to end but I do know it’s going to be one of the best Roller coasters I’ve ever been on. Ugh I have so many questions! Lol I need the next book now!
To say willows writing sucks you in and leaves you wanting more is an understatement.
If you haven’t read any of the Cross Brothers books you need to. You aren’t going to want to miss a single glimpse into this world.
Oh, I’ve been waiting for Delilah and Marcus for forever, it seems. This is just told mostly from Delilah’s point of view and it gives you insight into who she is and her motivations. It’s intense, dark, and gritty and I am left on edge because I want the rest of the story now.
Oh damn. Willow Winters has done it again and made me crave more. I need more, I want more, I need to know more about Marcus because it is driving me INSANE not knowing. Who is he??? My theories have all been blown out of the water and I can not wait to find out more. This book hooked me in and had me on the edge of my seat.
Every single character intrigued me. I want to dive into each characters history and extract the bits I need to put my theories together. I am searching for any little clue that will help me work out things. The build up of angst had me turning those pages fast, but then i got to the end way too quickly!!!
I can’t wait to find out more because my head is a mess after this one. I will be waiting for more Marcus with bated breath.
This story excites me! While it isn’t necessary, I have read the other books in the Merciless World and I am yet again…speechless…mind blown…and engrossed.
I want to use some four-letter words. You know when you are on a rollercoaster and its at the very beginning and you can hear the click click click of the chain lift as you head towards the elevation point. That is what I felt while reading this story and then yes now how I feel left right at the top waiting for the drop.
This story exceeds all levels of anticipation for me. I know I am about to be thrown into something crazy. I am so amped up. Willow Winters has my full attention. In fact, I can’t really get the story out of my head. The mystery and intrigue legitimately give me heart palpitations. It is clearly just the beginning and the suspense is 10/10. I think what I love above all else is that it ends on a cliffhanger that I know is coming and yet there is nothing that could prepare me for when the pages ran out.
I need more!
The tri-angle continues. On edge. Deep. And worth it. Love getting a look into Marcus past and his relationship with the Cross brothers, Cody and his love for Delilah. Can’t wait for the conclusion because what you think will happen, never happens. Always always a twist.
I voluntarily reviewed this advance reader copy of this book.
So when this series was announced I was so fucking happy because after reading Not My Heart to Break (AKA Hard To Love Series) I WAS OBSESSED WITH MARCUS! I always ALWAAAAYS fall in love with the villains. So I mean obviously Marcus attracted me from the very start. This mysterious man who NO ONE has ever seen, one of the most wanted man in the country. You get the gist of it…….
And then we had Delilah a former lawyer who used to occasionally check herself into an institute, who was also known to be one of the VERY FEW people who had actually been in contact with Marcus and seen him.
And then we had Walsh, the third character EX FBI agent, who had been in contact with Marcus for many years through letters. Marcus used to tip Walsh about some of the bad guys who he didn’t want to deal with himself but wanted out of the streets. So they sort off had a partnership.
So that’s all I understood about these three characters from the previous series. And now we FINALLY get their story and I was a tad bit disappointed with the first book from this series. This is probably a me problem or might also be for all the Marcus lovers out there as I wanted to read this series for Marcus and Delilah but the first book revolved more around Delilah and Walsh’s relationship.
The book revolves around Delilah being in danger for speaking out against a criminal who was given bail instead of being locked up. Its about how even a strong person has their weak moments and breaks down. Also the part I didn’t like, Delilah and Walsh……
We get a glimpse of Marcus’s past and Walsh’s relationship with Marcus. But more details will be revealed in the next book and FOR SURE more of Marcus and Delilah will happen in the upcoming books which I am SO excited for.
Oh, snap…Holy crap.
So I started to try and write this review just after I finished This Love Hurts, but I couldn’t… My mind was spinning in every direction and I needed to take a moment to gather my emotions, my thoughts, and my theories… Oh, I have so many right now!!
Are you ready? I THINK NOT!
If you are familiar with this author and her Merciless world and the Cross Brothers, then you are familiar with the man in the shadows, Marcus. The man in the dark shadows, a man hiding away, the man we are all begging to know more about. Well, this is his story. FINALLY! It’s a tale of two men and the one woman they want… And what a way to start his story. I won’t dive in deep. I won’t dive in much at all because this needs to be read and experienced with little to NO SPOILERS! All I can say is to expect the unexpected, and even then, you’ll never expect what’s ahead.
Honestly? I don’t know if my words do this book justice, it was on its own level of amazing. When diving into a book by Willow, I know it’s going to grab hold of me from the start, but I did not predict this would grab hold so right. It was captivating, alluring, and completely addictive. This start is as twisted and mind-blowing as the rest of Willow Winters work and holy crap… We are in for one hell of a ride, because this is just the start of what I know for certain will be an amazing series!
This book completely consumed me from the beginning, it was unpredictable and has my mind on overdrive on what is to come and what this author has up her sleeve! It was riveting, all-consuming and absolutely addictive, I can never get enough of Willow’s way with words and her ability to write an artful masterpiece that leaves my heart pounding, my nerves shattered and my mind on overdrive!
Worthy of so much more than 5 STARS!!!
What does a killer like Marcus have in common with FBI agent Cody Walsh? Delilah. Finally we are going begin to see the layers peeled back on Marcus, but will he really come out of the shadows? Seems he just might when it come to Delilah. Cody’s own story will be revealed as well as he makes it known he wants Delilah and will be there for her. Who will come out on top of this one? When it comes to revealing the depth of her characters in a story, no one does it better than Willow Winters. I can’t wait to see how their story plays out. **I was gifted “This Love Hurts” via W. Winters and leave my review voluntarily based on my reading** 4.5 Stars!
The first part of this is what was published in This Love Hurts and in part 2 you get to pick up where This Love Hurts ended.
Delilah is an absolutely amazing heroine, she’s strong, determined and a bit of a workaholic and more importantly than any of that she is a woman of color and I was happy about that
Delilah gets pulled in deeper to the danger and mystery while Cody tries to protect her. It left me with a few answers and many more questions.
I’m looking forward to the next book because I need to know ALL the answers to the questions rattling around in my head after finishing this book.
