USA Today Best Selling Author, Willow Winters, brings you an all-consuming, sizzling romance featuring an epic, anti-hero you won’t soon forget. Some love stories are a slow burn. Others are quick to ignite, scorching and branding your very soul before you’ve taken that first breath. You’re never given a chance to run from it. That’s how I’d describe what happened to us.Everything around me … us.
Everything around me blurred and all that existed were his lips, his touch…
The chase and the heat between us became addictive.
Our nights together were a distraction; one we craved to the point of letting the world crumble around us.
We should have paid attention; we should have known that it would come to this.
We both knew it couldn’t last, but that didn’t change what we desired most.
All we wanted was each other…

So I usually write at least a paragraph when doing my reviews, and anyone who reads my reviews knows how I feel about the author and her way of captivating and taking hold of her readers with her words. There’s really not much I can say about this story without giving away spoilers and being repetitive about how everyone seriously needs to read her books, especially this one! I was on the edge of my seat, breathing in every word and wanting to know more and that ending! Always the freakin’ ending leaves you the most shocked. I want to know more and this is a series I am looking forward to continuing. Again, another 5 star read!
Who is Marcus? He’s a mystery that Delilah wants to unravel. This book is such a page turner I couldn’t put it down! It does end on a cliffhanger but weirdly that’s ok for me…I can’t wait for the next book!

This book, as it’s Prequel, unfortunately wasn’t what I was expecting. It was good… But widely open.
I am sorry to said that, because it’s my first time with this author, and this book was suppose to be a standalone. That’s why I picked up to know her writing.
This book is half the Prequel (published as If you want me) and listed here as part 1, and the sequel to the Prequel as part 2.
Again Delilah is in her friends with benefits relationship with Cody, and honestly, it’s a lot going on in the background of their life, with her career and her family, with his secrets, and with their unspoken connection with Marcus (which now I know, it’s a big bad wolf from previous books, but you can’t know that just reading this book like me… You have to dig for spoilers) but from this book? I don’t have answer for any questions.
It’s not a standalone, and although I did liked the author’s style, and even the plot of a growing love triangle, I have nothing in this one.
It’s looks like just another Prequel… Or the part 2 Prequel.
It ends in a cliffhanger, which is the absolute killer mood for a person who’s reading a standalone (ME).
I’ll probably continue with the next book, but only when it’s all live and finished.

Love Triangle at its best. Can’t wait to continue and see what happens
Willow Winters is an absolute master of writing mysterious stories that keep us guessing. The way she spins the words and throws shockers into the mix, always keeps me turning the pages and coming back for more.
Delilah, Cody, and Marcus are a mysterious trio for sure and Willow has my curiosity piqued! There are so many questions floating through my mind, so many answers yet to find.
This Love Hurts is a highly anticipated beginning to what I believe is going to be one of her best trilogies yet. I never thought I’d love Cody Walsh, but he has grown on me, and how can we be falling for the evil Marcus. Only Willow can accomplish a task such as this.
I mean daaaaaaayum, Willow knows how to hook me and get me invested! Marcus! … THIS.GUY. I mean daaaaaaayum!! Okay, but seriously, what a ridiculously good book/story this is! The pacing of the story is super fast but it is supposed to be. You will find yourself reading faster than you normally would because you will need to get to the next plot-point like yesterday! This is word crack and I am a full on junkie!
What did I just read? I don’t even know. From reviews that I read, it sounds like the characters and some of the story line are introduced in Winters’ previous books. I definitely started at a disadvantage.
Marcus is a criminal that sticks to the shadows–few people have ever seen him. I’m not sure what his story is but it sounds like he’s left behind a trail of dead bodies. He has some type of pen pal relationship with FBI agent Cody Walsh–they exchange old fashioned letters. Marcus has an obsession for the lovely Delilah, who is a lawyer working for the Assistant District Attorney’s office. He has warned Cody to stay away from Delilah.
Cody Walsh has a tragic past. His younger brother was kidnapped and murdered. That is what motivated him to join the FBI. His weird relationship with Marcus is not fully explained. I’m not sure how they met or what their relationship entails–other than letters. He also has feelings for Delilah and they start a casual affair–one that neither of them wants out in public because they feel like it will damage their careers. Cody is not heeding Marcus’ warnings to stay away from Delilah.
Delilah is a smart and ambitious attorney. She has a very good track record in court but a local journalist is trying to discredit her. She and Cody have worked on a number of cases together. It was kind of hard to follow the cases they were working on. I wonder if the details were shared in another book? She is in a casual relationship with Cody but has strong feelings for Marcus. Although it isn’t clear how she and Marcus have interacted enough in the past to develop strong feelings for each other.
Winters is a good writer and I was sucked into the story. But I was frustrated with the vague plot that jumped around and offered no details. And the story seems to be revealed a little at a time. This book ends on a cliffhanger.
Okay. So I’ve been wanting to read this author for a long time and I thought why not start with this new release. I must admit that I have regrets of not reading her books sooner than this. Better late than never I guess. This one took me a little bit to get into and I was a bit lost at first and I think that is because I haven’t read her other books, but once the story got flowing I was hooked. I couldn’t get enough of Delilah, Cody, and Marcus’s story. Their whole story just kept me guessing and on edge of what’s lurking on the next page. Just when things are starting to make sense to me….BAM….that cliffhanger hits me smack dab in the face. OMG….my mind is reeling right now. I am so invested in the story and loving the characters more than I thought I would. So much so that I am needing that next book now. All this suspense is killing me. No disappointments here from this new to me author. Can’t wait to dive into another one of her books. If you’re like me and haven’t read any of Willow Winters books I highly recommend that you do.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it. Willow has done it again. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received this ARC in exchange for my honest.
“This Love Hurts” is a thunderstorm of emotions with dreadful danger, gripping suspense, issues that tug your heart-strings, and terrific character interaction. A story that stirs your desire to continue reading until the staggering cliffhanger that leaves you craving more.
This mysterious story features Delilah, a lawyer in horrific danger, Cody an FBI agent who wants to protect her and the ghost anti-hero Marcus who believes he is the only one who can protect her. He shows up when you least expect him and disappears in a heart beat.
Engrossing well-written read with credible characters, fabulous story-line and breathtaking scene descriptions. Back stories of the characters give the reader insight into their personas. The author does a fabulous job making you feel each scene. Relishing this read, I voluntarily reviewed a pre-release copy via the author.
This is a truly twisted tale. Soooo good! Its mainly about Delilah and Agent Cody with Marcus twisted in too. It left me with lots of questions that I know Willow will answer in the next books.
I read and reviewed this book voluntarily.
The first half of this book is Do You Want Me?
This is the story of Delilah, Marcus, and Cody and just when you think you may get some answers there is a twist……
Who is Marcus? How do Cody and Marcus and Deliliah intertwine?
Book 2 cannot come soon enough…..
It has been a minute since I read a W Winters story and I know I have been missing out. In This Love Hurts by W. Winters we get an intriguing book with characters that will have you asking what is really happening. We are drawn in quickly to the suspenseful story that includes Cody, Marcus and Delilah, which also includes a prequel that was already published. I could not turn the pages fast enough. This is a quick read and does end in a cliffhanger. I am so excited to see where this will all lead!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading!
This was my first book by W. Winters. I’ve been wanting to read her books for a long time. This was released at the perfect time since I wasn’t reading anything at the time.
I was a bit confused by the way this story unfolded. It felt like I was missing a huge chunk of knowledge that had me feeling a bit lost. Now that I’ve finished it and read other’s reviews, I see that the huge chunk must have been any experience with this author’s Merciless world.
From the title of this book to the blurb and even the prologue, the love connection was supposed to be intense. I only felt like I was reading a romance in a paragraph here or there throughout the whole book. I felt sexual tension at times that was threadbare in its description. Basically the book was 10% romance (maybe) and 90% suspense.
Now the suspense was pretty much perfect. It kept my attention while I quickly flipped pages. The suspense easily had my mind working hard to figure out what was going on and what each character’s part truly was.
Basically, I don’t feel like my time was wasted. I’m also determined to read Merciless, the first book in this world, and read my way back here from the beginning. I’ve heard unending praise for Mrs. Winters’ work so I’m not giving up after only one book read.
Y’all I am so messed up on this book. I started out hating Marcus for all the manipulative and evil things that he did in the other books but as you know there is always a story that leads to what you become in the future and this one just gets better and better. Willow has a way with words and an evil twist where you think you know how this may go and it doesn’t. It’s like looking in a still pond and not knowing the dangers it holds. All I can say is You Need To Read This Series. It’s like dropping a bomb and wondering what kind of impact it will have when it hits the bottom. Is he the enemy or the savior? Will he remain in the shadows or come to the light? Has Delilah found her savior or the devil himself.
This is more suspense and mystery than a romance. Disappointing.
Where do I start..?
I’ve been waiting for Marcus since the first mention of his name in Merciless and this first book of him did not disappoint. We still know shockingly little of the man, but he’s taking shape and I can’t wait until we can fully know and see him.
Also Delilah. My goodness Delilah! I’m in love. She’s such a strong character. Yes as expected from Willow’s books she’s falling apart a little, but the way she just keeps going and all the thoughts behind, she might be one of my favorites!
This is still only book 1 in this series so obviously there’s a cliffhanger, but read it. You won’t regret it.
This Love Hurts was an amazing dark romance full of angst, suspense, twists and turns and drama. Couldn’t put it down. Ends in a hell of a cliffhanger – can’t wait for the next book.
Finally, we get to meet Marcus, and now I can not get enough, I am on such a rush from this book and can not wait for more.
