Wow—what a cliffhanger! I can’t believe it ended so quickly…the anticipation of the next book will be really succulent and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!! Willow Winters delivered a no holds barred romantic suspense story that grips the readers to the core. In this pulse-pounding ride, packed with murder, mystery, drama, suspense, and twists and turns—some you see coming, some you don’t! It will be hard to put this down once you get started—it was thrilling and shocking from the very beginning. Delilah is a tenacious lawyer who works as a prosecutor putting away unsavory criminals while also working closely on some cases with FBI Agent Cody Walsh. Agent Walsh is a very handsome, sexy, and all-consuming man that will do whatever to protect Delilah, but even he has secrets that he is withholding that can be devastating or even deadly. Delilah is known for being unsentimental and keeping her emotions in check when dealing with criminals in court until she is confronted with Marcus—the serial killer or ghost, or grim reaper, or angel of death as he has been called—a person that no one has been able to catch or know who he is, but one thing for sure—he has an obsession with Delilah! Who is this Marcus? What does he want with Delilah? Does Cody know more than he is letting on about Marcus? Can Cody protect Delilah from Marcus? I love the chemistry between Delilah and Cody—I am rooting for them! I wasn’t expecting the turn this story took; it has quite an unexpected revelation that may leave you flabbergasted but it is jaw-dropping good! What happens next? I can’t wait to read the next book. I highly RECOMMEND this edgy and suspenseful romance.
Grab this while it’s on sale! It’s the first book of MARCUS in Willow’s Merciless world. I have waited for Marcus forever! The second book is coming out next week so be sure to go ahead and grab this one on sale now!
Delilah is a tough as nails lawyer and she isn’t afraid to go after the bad guys. Walsh is an FBI agent that she has worked with in the past. Marcus is a ghost that they both have history with. A case that had botched evidence brings them all together for this story.
I have read a few of Winters books but not the ones that give the history to This Love Hurts. It read fine as a standalone but I am guessing the information you have from the previous series will make it even more enjoyable. So I know what I have to read now. Love the suspense as this story builds. Walsh and Delilah have a good thing and I am not really sure how Marcus is going to affect that but I am anxious to find out!
In this book you get to know more about Delilah, Cody, and Marcus. Marcus helps Delilah when her life is in danger. Now that it is unsafe for her to stay at her place she moves into Cody’s place. However, she soon discovers that he isn’t being completely honest about Marcus.
The triangle between Delilah , Cody, and Marcus made the story really interesting. I for one love Marcus and his bad boy persona. I also loved Delilah and how independent she is. Her story is filled with romance, drama, and intrigue. I can’t wait to read more!
Marcus has been a mystery, A ghost. This book gives even more background information about Marcus, Cody and Delilah. Part of a trilogy. Books must be read in order.
Delilah and Cody grow close and Marcus watches from afar. Delilah’s integrity is called into question because of a case. She is approached by Marcus in shadows. He reveals himself to her and offers his support.
Cody steps in when and offers a safe place when Delilah starts to fall apart. She begins to feel consumed by the truths she is not sharing with Cody, her boss, and therapist.
We learn how Marcus and Cody came in contact with one another and how much they have helped each other over the years.
Secrets begin to surface in this book layer by layer.
Willow has crafted Marcus’ story over the course of many books. When we met him in the Cross brothers books, we saw him as villain. In this book, you begin to realize just how much more there is to his story and path. Delilah has spent so long being strong and when she begins to fall apart you can almost feel it. This tale Willow weaves is intricate, intriguing, haunting, and soul crushing.
Delilah:
To love is never wrong. Yet here I am, with feelings stirring for one man, one I should certainly not be attracted to, let alone love… while sitting in the living room of another man. It’s not love. Not for either of them. I know it’s not, but the longer I stay here, the more I can feel myself slipping.
The first thing that drew me to this book was the eye catching cover, then I read the blurb which screamed romantic suspense – my favourite genre – and I was intrigued. If I’m being totally honest I was slightly disappointed when I first started reading. It felt almost as if I’d skipped a couple of chapters but after reading some of the other reviews I now realise that the characters in this book were mentioned in Ms Winter’s Merciless series which has now been added to my TBR list. The romance element between Agent Cody and Attorney Delilah seemed a little one sided with Delilah appearing to be more invested in than Cody. They just didn’t appear credible together but I like the fact that the heroine was a strong, career focused woman. I’m so glad I stuck with this book though because once the enigmatic and dangerous Marcus made an appearance I was hooked. The suspense built throughout and I can’t wait to find out what happens next but I’m definitely on Team Marcus rather than Team Cody, after all who doesn’t love the bad boy.
Do we finally get to find out who Marcus is?? NO…we don’t!! Oh my gosh Willow is taunting us with this mysterious man! I’m so excited to find out what will happen with this triangle of Cody, Delilah and Marcus and to finally find out who the hell Marcus is!! This Love Hurts sets up the characters and story lines for this epic trilogy and boy oh boy is Willow ever winding us up!! Come on book number two!!
I absolutely positively loved this book. In order to see what I mean you have to read it. Highly recommend.
This is the first book in the This Love Hurts Series. This series is set in the Merciless World. This first book includes the prequel Do You Want Me. The writing is captivating, and the characters are intriguing, the chemistry is sizzling. Delilah is beautiful and strong. Marcus is the perfect antihero, dark, and secretive. Cody is intriguing. The storyling is suspenseful. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the Series, to know what happens next. I need more! Desireé Ketchum and Teddy Hamilton did a wonderful job with the narration. They both have a beautiful voice. I love their voice together. This is a fantastic team of author/narrators. I highly recommend it.
Willow continues to keep you pulled into this world. This story doesn’t disappoint. Learning more about Marcus and trying to figure out this bad boy. But will we get to when he does such a good job keeping to the background. Willow gives you just enough to make you never want to put this book down.
This Love Hurts
By: W. Winters
Narrated by: Desiree Ketchum, Teddy Hamilton
Series: This Love Hurts, Book 1
Following the prequel of this series, I couldn’t wait to delve into the darkness of whom we know as Marcus! We get to know Delilah, an astute lawyer and her stress relieving FBI agent Cody. These two are working together, but the real passion is after hours. Key in Marcus, who has his eye on Delilah, and has some relationship with Cody. This triangle is proving to be exciting! Not only is it sizzling between Delilah and the infamous Marcus, but the anticipation of what is to come is dark and suspenseful. This is my kind of listen and in true W. Winters fashion, she leaves us wanting more! I cannot wait to see where this is going to take us and just how much of Marcus we are going to get to know!
Narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Teddy Hamilton, we are treated to a fantastic performance. Ketchum is perfectly cast as Delilah. She is that air of confidence and strength that comes through in each situation. I love her and find her nuances are exactly as I would imagine Delilah. Teddy Hamilton’s dual role as Cody and Marcus is masterfully performed. He brings out these opposites with perfect voices and inflections. Can’t wait for more!

Every time I read a book by Willow Winters, I feel like it’s Christmas morning. A new present for me, beautifully wrapped, with a great cover, and the surprise is hidden inside between the pages. And if you were delighted by the ‘Merciless’ series, let me say that from this beginning of what promises to be a fantastic series, you will be left breathless and wanting for more.
Her talent as an author is absolutely indisputable. Here, too, she manages to weave a story so heart-gripping and full of intrigue that will captivate from the very beginning. The characters are so real, yet unique. A magic triangle, three people, the same goal, different approaches and attributes. That’s the story of Delilah and Cody or Delilah and Marcus… ? She is so strong , determined, yet so fragile. She tries to stand up straight and defy the fear that threatens to swallow her, only to realize how much she needs a warm hug, a gentle word, a kiss and hands that will hold her, not allowing her to fall. … But who would give her all that? Who is the right choice? The handsome agent Cody or the mysterious Marcus? Both men seem right somehow, so different, and somehow similar. The past and the present are intertwined, light and darkness mixed in the lines, filled with suspense and mystery … but the question remains whether the real solution is hidden somewhere between the light and darkness?
The author’s style is absolutely fantastic as always, so eloquent, easy to read and so effective at the same time. Like clear water that hides tremendous depths. Willow masterfully pulls the confusion through the readable lines, and as you read, you realize that you do not understand anything, but you still can not leave the book, and as if enchanted, you continue to search for meaning in all that nonsense.
And as you slowly begin to get to know the characters and understand their story, you realize that the book is much more than just a romance. What I may have missed a bit is the insight into the other characters, because the focus was primarily on Delilah, but I hope the next book in the series will make it up.
Willow skillfully manages to combine different elements, mixing several genres, like she’s cooking according to a well-known recipe and adds simple ingredients.
To put it simply, if this book were a cheesecake, I would sink my teeth in it, and lick the plate clean.
I am obsessed with all things Marcus at this point and I don’t know how to write this without spoilers so I’m going to leave it vague. The before and after that book dealt with shows you how everyone is intertwined and the suspense factor was on point! Can’t wait for book two!!
I was pretty excited to read this book. It was my first by this author, and the cover drew me in instantly. I dove right in as soon as I could.
The book started out okay. I was reading it at a nice pace, and then all of a sudden the book just kind of fell for me. I think it’s because it’s missing a lot of much needed showing. The author only tells us the main things that happen. I had a hard time connecting with the story and the characters.
Like I already said, I couldn’t connect to the story and characters, so it’s hard to say if I really liked the book. I am a little curious as to where the next book goes. Maybe the things that fell apart for me will be something other than they are presented in this one. Because of the maybe’s and what-ifs, I will give the next book a shot when it releases.
Deliciously Addictive-this is a seriously compelling and captivating read. I have been with this author since she start4d and this is one of my fav reads of hers. The story is intense and suspenseful. I stayed up til the wee hours reading. This is the kind of story I love the most – you can’t put it down and the next part can’t come fast enough for me.
DAMN – LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!

USA Today Best Selling Author, Willow Winters, brings you an all-consuming, sizzling romance featuring an epic, anti-hero you won’t soon forget.
Some love stories are a slow burn. Others are quick to ignite, scorching and branding your very soul before you’ve taken that first breath. You’re never given a chance to run from it.
That’s how I’d describe what happened to us.
Everything around me blurred and all that existed were his lips, his touch…
The chase and the heat between us became addictive.
Our nights together were a distraction; one we craved to the point of letting the world crumble around us.
We should have paid attention; we should have known that it would come to this.
We both knew it couldn’t last, but that didn’t change what we desired most.
All we wanted was each other…
I have been waiting forever to get to know Marcus, Cody and Delilah.
This was the best level of suspense created by Willow Winters. The first few chapters were a little slow but overall this was a really good book.
Don’t try to guess, its not what you think. The twists and turns definitely kept me turning page after page.
I can’t wait for the next installment in this series.
This book ends in a cliffhanger. And by the time I finished this part, I’m not any more clear on what’s going on than when it started!
Delilah works in the DA office, taking criminals away. She’s intense, workaholic, relentless in her pursuit of justice. She’s working on a case that went bad, she made an impulsive comment to the press about it, and now she’s being hanged by all the tabloids. And to top it all off, she’s being threatened.
The FBI detective she frequently works with attempts to protect her, but he has secrets as well. They have worked many cases together and he’s had help from an unknown source he’s not disclosing.
When a man called Marcus starts to approach Delilah, the reader senses that he has un unhealthy obsession with her, and that he has been observing and obsessing for a long time. And we know that Cody, her FBI friend with benefits, knows more than he tells.
The plot is a little convoluted, Delilah and Cody deal mostly with secrets and when they communicate, it’s mostly in hidden truths. Meanwhile, we’re kept mostly in the dark, trying hard to understand what the heck is happening and how it’s all tied together.
I didn’t like the slow evolution of the action, the constant lying and hiding of the truth, the apparently instant lust that developed in Delilah with just one touch of the hand from Marcus, the obscure fascination she has for him that makes her lie about their encounter.
I found that the expression of feelings, as shown by the characters, fall short in the description. It feel like the characters feel a lot, but they don’t know how to communicate or don’t act on expressing their feelings. I read the book in a constant state of desperation because the communication between Delilah and her family and Delilah and Cody is simply crap. I didn’t see a single moment of effective communication, except perhaps in Marcus’ infrequent messages. The slow pace, with the lack of information, was very frustrating and unappealing to me, so I don’t plan to continue with the sequel.
This story is every dark romance loves dream. It’s well written and interesting the characters keep you on toes. The storyline is interesting and well developed.
Willow Winters knows how to leave you wanting more of her characters. I loved reading Cody and Marcus’s story, with Delilah caught in the middle. I love reading this series and look forward to the next part in the story.
