USA Today Best Selling Author, Willow Winters, brings you an all-consuming, sizzling romance featuring an epic, anti-hero you won’t soon forget. Some love stories are a slow burn. Others are quick to ignite, scorching and branding your very soul before you’ve taken that first breath. You’re never given a chance to run from it. That’s how I’d describe what happened to us.Everything around me … us.
Everything around me blurred and all that existed were his lips, his touch…
The chase and the heat between us became addictive.
Our nights together were a distraction; one we craved to the point of letting the world crumble around us.
We should have paid attention; we should have known that it would come to this.
We both knew it couldn’t last, but that didn’t change what we desired most.
All we wanted was each other…

This was my first read by this author but it will not be my last. I can’t wait to get my hands on the other two books in this trilogy and find out what happens!
Delilah is an independent and successful lawyer. When she receives a threat while at work, she just wants to feel safe again. At first she thinks that is in the arms of her lover, Cody, but when the city’s most wanted serial killer happens to be more protective, sparks fly. I’m dying to see where this love triangle goes.
I have to be honest, I did feel like the beginning jumped a little right into things and that could be because this is the first time I’ve read a book by this author. After reading a few other reviews, I realized all three of these characters made an appearance in the Hard to Love Series. I will definitely going back and reading that series at some point and part of me wishes I would have known to start there. With that said, I’m already in love with these characters and am invested in how their story plays out. I’m off to pick up the second book right now!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I actually listened to the Audible version and this story has a great start.
We have Delilah a tough as nails lawyer, Cody is a FBI agent and the mysterious Marcus.
This book is more than romance. I started this book knowing that I was going to be drawn to the bad boy, but little did I know that I was going to grow to like Agent Walsh. Delilah tried to be strong and stand tall against her fear, but sometimes you just need someone to hold on to.
This book totally had me hooked from the blue-eyed man that left her hurrying away from him in the grocery store.
Next: But I Need You and I can’t wait to see what happens with Delilah, Cody and Marcus next.
“To love is never wrong.”
I was so excited when I heard this series was being released. When reading other books in the Merciless world, I was always intrigued about Marcus, the ultimate puppet master. He is always in the shadows, pulling the strings and his end game is never obvious.
This is book 1 in the “This love hurts” series. You don’t need to read any other Merciless world books but it will help build the intrigue around Marcus.
This is a romantic suspense, focusing on the love triangle between Marcus (the villain), Delilah (the lawyer that puts away criminals) and Cody (the FBI agent tasked with catching villains). There are o lot of secrets, half truths and tension between these characters.
I found the pace in the beginning of the book a bit slow for my tastes (hence my rating) but, as the story progressed, I got immersed in the suspense. It was like being part of one of the great procedurals I usually binge on TV.
And by the end of the book, I was hooked and I can’t wait to get Marcus’s side of the story and the motivations behind his actions.
Great read overall!
I’m so lost, I don’t even know what to say Jesus Willow Winters just messed me up.
I have a theory but I can’t think about this and my heart is still pounding in my chest after this meeting.
I was already on edge with the prologue, the main character is giving me goosebumps. She seems so strong, at first and then you are feeling her anxiety like someone is trying to sabotage her career. She really is spiraling, our girl got problems everywhere. She has Cody but I don’t know why I’m so sure she will be with Marcus am I crazy or is she because I’m completely lost with her.
To continue my rambling, I’m scared of Marcus, like the guy is making my heart stop and beat so fast at the same time. We agree he is a stalker aka criminal but I don’t know why I’m thinking he is someone who might not be dead or I am just paranoid. How a criminal can help the authority, Willow Winters you are turning me into something I don’t know.
Then here is Cody Walsh, I’m a hundred percent sure he knows something but I don’t know what? his relationship with Delilah could make your heart flutter, even if I was more scared than enamored. This man has so many secrets that I don’t know what I should feel for him, but his attention to Delilah seem true.
I’ll jump into the next book right now because all this secret is eating me, the last book will be out so soon i can’t wait for it.
This is the first in a new series and what a tale this is! This story has the mysterious Marcus, the agent Cody, and Delilah who is torn between them. This story has the past and the present intertwined. This is a good story which is fast paced, and filled with intrigue, drama, suspense, betrayal, twists, thrills, mystery, and is an all-consuming love story. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Whoa! That was a frustrating cliffhanger. Ha ha. All I can say, is that I am so thankful that the next book is available and I don’t have to wait to see what happens next.
This was a different type of book that I’m used to reading by Willow. It was more of a thriller/mystery, rather than the mafia love story. Now, I am trying to figure out who the real bad guy is in the story. There are so many twists that I’m just wondering how it’s all going to fit together in the end.
Willow is a fantastic storyteller. No matter what type of book she is writing, you are always pulled into the story and it’s hard to stop reading, or listening to it. She chooses the best narrators that fit her characters.
Im anxious to hear Cody’s answer to her question.
This Love Hurts sucks you in from the very beginning. Such a fantastic read that will leave you wanting for more as you navigate Delilah and Cody and throw Marcus into the mix. There is such mystery surrounding who Marcus is and I for one cannot wait to find out more. I need more Delilah, Cody and Marcus. You are just left with so many questions that I know will get answered as this series goes on. Yes there is a cliffhanger but it is so worth it. Take this suspense filled ride today and find out who Delilah, Cody and Marcus are because they will suck you in and will not let you go.
This triangle… how does one decide who to pick? There is Cody the great protector FBI agent and then there is Marcus the great protector serial killer! Her feelings when she’s with each of them is so vivid on the pages that my heart races for her!
Oooooh this was good and ugh I didn’t realize it was a series based on the title but damn I have to wait for the next book! Ahhhh!
Prosecutor Delilah Jones has crushed on FBI agent Cody Walsh ever since they started working on a serial killer case that went cold. Every time Delilah sees the handsome Cody, the more she wants him, and she’s happy when she finally gets him. Little does Delilah know that serial killer Marcus has been watching her from the shadows for years. What happens when Marcus decides to make his interest in Delilah known? Note: this story ends with a cliffhanger.
Drama-filled, suspenseful and steamy! I can’t wait to read But I Need You, Book 2 of the This Love Hurts trilogy.
My Rating: 1/2
Type: Trilogy -Book1
Genre: Contemporary Fiction Romance, Romantic Suspense
Primary Characters: Marcus, Cody & Delilah
Narration: Triple POV
This series is interconnected spin off novel from Merciless series. We have seen the glimpse of these main characters in other Merciless world several series books. This Trilogy can be read as standalone alone as author has given sufficient background about all these characters.
Marcus has been in the shadows entire time. A master manipulator, he plays his games, he communicates in riddles and has a hand in almost everything the Cross-brother’s touch. This book gives a more glimpses of him. Officer Cody Walsh and Delilah, two people that we know are connected to Marcus but we don’t know how. Marcus has been a ghost. A faceless man to go with the name.
Part one of this book opens to what Delilah goes through day to day and a feeling of every step being monitored. Delilah is a lawyer and Cody is an FBI Agent. we get to see how their cases are interlinked.
With Cody having his own secrets along with the world they are connected unknowingly makes this an interesting read. The only downside I was in this was, it was very similar to her other books. I didn’t see variety after reading her several books so it sort of became boring plus Marcus didn’t live up to my expectation.
If you are fan of Willow’s writing and fan of her Merciless world then this book is for you.

This one is about Detective Cody Walsh, Marcus and the woman they are both trying to protect Delilah. Delilah is an attorney. She is fighting hard to put people away. Her and Cody work on the same cases and end up getting close to each other. But something is holding over their head. Marcus is someone they have dealt with and cant seem to catch. This is only the beginning of their story. What is going to happen between these three? Hold on because it starts off bumpy and will take you on quite the ride. Grab hold and see what happens. I cant wait to read what happens next with these three.
This Love Hurts is full of suspense! All I keep asking myself is… who, what, where, or even how!? I’m not sure who to trust or who even did what anymore! The way the story is written… it will definitely keep you guessing! I’m excited I don’t have to wait too long for the next release! That ending… goosebumps!!
~ Review by Juls
This is the first book in this new series by this author This Love Hurts Trilogy and is one of the best romance reads I’ve ever read and this book will leave you desperate for book #2 in the series after you have finished it.
This is a story of three people who’s lives are interconnected and they take you on the ride of your life.
Delilah is a lawyer and is a brave woman that also has a very vulnerable side to her. She ends up with a stalker which is totally crazy scary in itself and she is as strong as she can be.
Cody is a man in the FBI and and is also a very caring, sweet gut but he also has secrets that he wants to keep very hidden.
Marcus is very very dark mysterious man, there is no other word to describe him and he will keep you captivated. He is ruthless in how he is and his peruse of her.
This book kept me gripped right from the very beginning and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It ends on a cliffhanger and what a cliffy it is. I was completely invested in this story and these characters and the way that this author has written them is absolutely fantastic and the romantic suspense is off the charts. The way that this author has written this book is awesome and is completely nail biting and I cant wait to read the second book and get more more more of Marcus. I highly recommend this book and this author and I cant wait to read book #2in this series.

This Love Hurts was the riveting continuation of Marcus, Cody and Delilah’s story that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Just when I thought I had somewhat pieced together what was happening a new twist would send my thoughts spinning into a whole new direction. Marcus’ need to always be lurking in the shadows nearby kept me constantly wondering about the draw between him and Delilah. With everyone keeping secrets close to their chests and others coming to light I can only imagine what’s in store next and can’t wait for more of their gripping and suspense-filled story.
First in trilogy
So this will definitely the most anticipated book that I have read from Willow Winters. Yes, she answers some of our questions but than also leaves us with more questions for the next book. To me this series reminds me of Shonda Rhimes shows. I loved the intensity between Cody, Delilah and Marcus. Most definitely worth reading it and listening it. Most definitely worth 5*****
This Love Hurts is a perfectly written tale with so many twists and turns and players in constant motion it will definitely keep you engaged from beginning to the end, but wait, this is only the start of the whole story!
I am so excited that we are finally getting a peak at the mysterious Marcus who we met in the Merciless series, but he is only one player in this tale. Delilah and Cody are also part of the web that is being woven and I can’t wait to see how the rest of this story goes!
4.75 stars
This is the first book in the This Love Hurts trilogy and it is one roller coaster of an emotional ride highlighting a love triangle between Delilah, Cody and Marcus. Delilah is a strong woman but something about Marcus turns her world on its axis and she seems lost. Marcus is the man you want to hate but there is just something that keeps you coming back to him. He is like a puppet master who moves the players around the way he wants them. Then there is Cody, the FBI agent, who seems to know more than he lets on and is afraid to love. Which one will get Delilah? This is one driven storyline with drama, secret pasts, and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat until the next book releases. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
What an amazing story and it is one part of it. This will end in a cliffhanger but more of the story will be coming soon. Loved the dynamic of Cody, Marcus and Delilah. They felt so real and I love that with her work. I get invested in the story and the characters each time I pick up one of her books. This story will pull you in from page and not let go. You won’t regret picking up this book.
