I was a pawn. Weak and someone easily manipulated. To be played with as he saw fit.Until YOU.YOU shone light in my now dark world. It was YOU who made me smile. For the first time in this game, I had hope. All because of YOU.The more powerful pieces on the board, however, were a threat to YOU and me.They would win at any cost. Two kings ruling with an iron fist. Allies or opponents, it was hard to … an iron fist.
Allies or opponents, it was hard to tell.
YOU promised to save me.
Told me we would win.
But then I was on the wrong side of the board.
This isn’t YOU, baby.
And I don’t know what to do.
The game is almost over and I’m counting on YOU.
Tick, tock…
Warning:
This Isn’t You, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes, excessive drug use, and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for YOU.
This story will make YOU smile.
This story will make YOU angry.
This story will make YOU crazy.
I hope YOU love it, baby.

God, I love K. Webster’s books. This one has got to be the hardest to review. Read the warning, my dark friends. I read dark books 95% of the time, and she managed to make me shake with irrational behavior. I felt unease and discomfort. This is fiction, yet I had this knot in my throat, it’s been hours and it’s still there.
Brie’s story is hard to swallow. Plain and simple. If you’ve read the entire series, you are probably prepared. If you haven’t read the entire series, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00. I feel highly invested in every single character. They’ve come alive throughout the series. Ren is that caring, loving, self-sacrificing hero, but not without faults. I love how the author pinches my cheeks with honesty, she shows all the fractures within humanity. Nothing or no one is safe from the villains that lurk in plain sight. Just when you think you’re safe, the light is switched off and your alone in the dark.
I ate this book, I choked on every word, but I couldn’t stop myself. Not an easy read, but if you love the darkside… You are going to drool over this one. My chest is tight. You know what they say, right? If it doesn’t make you feel, it’s not worth reading. I’m all out of feels for a bit, I need to cuddle up with ice cream and send a message to the author.
OMG OMG OMG what in the name of all twisted books in the world is this book!
I’m speechless!
If in a series usually go bleh with this many book in one series, War and Peace definitly gone more twisted, mind blowing, made me questioning my own moral compass, dark as dark can be…. I’m dead. This series kill me and I’m in dark twisted book heaven
This is the eighth book I read by K. Webster this year and she continues to intrigue and entertain me with her stories. I don’t want this series to end because I am attached to all the characters. I was excited that they played important roles in this book as well. I love catching up with them.
We were introduced to Brie in the previous book. She is Gabe’s daughter but because of circumstances was adopted by some shady people to be used as a pawn. I will leave it at that and if you have read the previous books you will WANT to read this one as well. Most of the previous characters make an appearance in this book as well, I just love reading about what they are up to. The author also opened up a road to more books in the series because there are still many intriguing characters that want their stories told. At least I want their stories told!
I had no idea which direction this story would go but of course the author didn’t disappoint and surprised me like always. She was putting me on the wrong foot and hit me with a twist making me doubt what would happen next. K. Webster is the dark queen of plot twists. I just love what she comes up with. I should just stop trying to predict what will happen because most of the time I am wrong. This was the case in this book as well, she ended up leaving me saying WTF and WHY!? Some really messed up things happened, but I loved it! Yes, I love dark and twisted things in books and it feeds my dark soul I love this series and I need MORE!! I hope I don’t have to say goodbye to these characters anytime soon.
Dangerous, dark, deadly, deception lurking around every corner. Expect the unexpected and prepare to be shocked multiple times. So much action I couldn’t catch my breath.
K. Webster, I don’t know how you do it, but please, keep it coming!
This is Book 4 of her War & Peace series… if you’ve never read them, please do beforehand, you’d get the best out of this book that way.
For the people that have read this, what did you guys think?
Personally, I loved it! Of course, she delivers, as always.
Note that this is a dark book with seriously dark themes. Please keep that in mind when rating.
Anyway, back to my review, this book is amazing. We get to meet new characters as well as get updates on the old ones and I loved this because I was really curious about Gabe and everyone when “This Isn’t Over, Baby” left off.
We do get to meet Brie from that book, though she’s much more grown up here.
Families wage wars as people try to take over empires, with Brie as a pawn.
K. Webster will take you on an emotional roller coaster of love and hate, with intervening dark themes and individual threats.
The things Brie goes through had my heart hurting for her. Some days I soared, some days I hurt. In her short life, she’s had so much heartache and pain, and here, she faces the chance of breaking.
Is she strong enough to surpass all obstacles along the way?
I seriously felt every single emotion a person could, riding this roller coaster. There are hours where I probably cursed the author and a second later want to hug her for her ingenious thoughts.
This book is not a hearts and flowers type of story. It’ll confuse you as it gives you hope, it’ll break you as it tries to glue you back together. Parts will make you smile while others will make you cry. In short, it will wreck you, the only way K. Webster can.
If you enjoy dark romance that will make you FEEL, then get this book. As a matter of fact, grab the whole series, you won’t regret it.
K. Webster is ingenious. I’d love to be a fly on the wall in her mind. I always wonder how in the world she comes up with the plots and twists she does. This book will take you places with twists and turns that will leave you breathless.
I was shocked, I was hopeful, I was happy and expectant. I was anxious and thrilled, but the best part was that I FELT it all. Every detail ties into each event perfectly, every action, every description, both good and bad worked towards creating a masterpiece in the form of “This Isn’t You, Baby.”
This is what evil looks like baby! If you thought Baylee was having a rough time, Brie is definitely not having a picnic. There situations are similar but so very different. After everything you have seen and been through in this series, you would think/hope the author couldn’t shock you any more…but oh yes she can. As with any good story she leads you down a path and you can almost tell where it’s going to go but the curves can be deadly.
K Webster doesn’t know how to sugar coat or fluff it up. No, she goes straight for the jugular, grabs a hold, and squeezes so minutely that you almost have no idea she is cutting off your oxygen. You just smile as you blackout. The warning promises that you will love, you will hate, and you will react. It will not disappoint.
Hmm, she has more likeness to her characters than she admits…
Some people reading this won’t know that I started this series at 9PM on Tuesday. When I woke up Wednesday morning, I finished This Is War, Baby. I then read This Is Love, Baby and because I couldn’t stop there I read This Isn’t Over, Baby by 7 PM of Wednesday.I started This Isn’t You, Baby at 9:30PM Wednesday. As I type this, it is 2AM Thursday. I have not been able to stop devouring these books.
One story after another bleeds into the next and my greedy, grabby hands need more. I need MORE!!!!
Oh, um, I already have it….Sorry, must be signs of addiction setting in…
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
This book, wow! It absolutely tore me apart and slowly put everything back together just to break my freaking heart!!!!
Brie and Ran are so absolutely adorable together I can’t even get into words how heartwarming they seem. But looks can be way off!!
Brie and Duvan seem so wrong together, but as you fall into the story you see and realize just how much he loves her and seems to have always wanted her close.
Brie over comes so much from all these terrible people in her life, she is so young and strong, you just know somewhere she deserves to be happy and have this amazing life. But where in real life does that happen?
Choked !! That’s what I’m feeling . Choked !
I’m so so so so gratefull that I got to read this book early.
First of all, the story is a heartwarming tale of Love. And then there’s war. An all out war where Brie becomes a pawn. She finds solace in the damndest places while the devil finds her and tries to drag her down to Hell. The story is a maze of Love, Revenge, Murder, Betrayal, friendship and Peace. But every emotion is transitory. Ready to be snatched from Gabriella’s hands as she longs for her Mom and Dad, her First Love , Her Husband’s love.
Gabriella is trapped in a hostile and dangerous world of drug cartels an Predatory Heath and unrequited love of Ren and her own empty heart pining for her mother and Dad. Her life’s decisions are made FOR her and she is helpless and bound. I fell HARD for Duvan. Like really really hopelessly in Love with him.
Like the Tigress who fell for her Tiger !!
“The rooster pulls at her feathers like I pull on your hair. Kinky bastards.”
“In this family, we do some crazy things for love. In this family, we don’t let love go.”
That’s the power of Kristi’s writing, finding love in darndest of places. The happiness is short lived as misfortune strikes Brie’s life again and again.
The writing is matchless.
Words so vile and fucked up, I want to scoop them all up so I can crush them with my fist.
The characters she created are so vivid that I hated Esteban, I loved Duvan, I Hugged Ren and Oscars and Vienna. I loathed Heath.
My mouth was gaping and all from reading what I was actually reading. But that is true of all of Kristi’s books. I am always wondering -how’s she gonna top that, but this versatile Writer’s talent has no bounds. She manages to surprise us readers with new plots, new stories, new characters again and again and again !. I’ve never looked forward to any writers books as I do hers.
I’m a proud #Cucumber4Life !
This Isn’t You, Baby I really don’t know how K Webster does it EVERY book just gets better and better in this series, I am totally stunned after reading this one, it is amazing, this book is EPIC. This book is so much more than I excepted K knows how to write a book and draws you in from the start and her characters don’t let you go, till the very last page. Every book in this series is great… I am not going to say anything about this book because you HAVE to go in blind and enjoy the rollercoaster it is… it is very hard to put into words how amazing this book is. You live and breathe along with these Characters… you want to crawl into the book and hold them, scream at them you just want to be a part of it. As with all K books it leave you wanting more….. I really don’t want this series to EVER end I love these Characters.
This story will make YOU smile.
This story will make YOU angry.
This story will make YOU crazy.
I hope YOU love it, baby.
