My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn.
His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world.
In my WAR, though, I found peace.
I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life
…all inside his head.
But then my captor came back for …
But then my captor came back for me.
Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected.
So we thought.
Even though my WAR was raging,
my captor would fight to the death.
The good guys always win, right?
Not always.
All’s fair in love and WAR, right?
Not this time.
WARNING
This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.

This is War, Baby (War & Peace Book 1)
Wow this book was well written.
Dark romance for sure but everything felt real
From baylee getting kidnap and going thru hell and back.
Too being able to come back from that experience
When she meets War
War character is very complex
But In the mist of his illness
They both are able to find what that are looking for this book has twist and turns.
And u will be on the edge of ur seat wanting to no what happens next.
This book was amazing and by far my new favorite I’m so glad I took the chance to read this book.
And I Appreciate that the author put a disclaimer at the bottom of the books Description before you read it.
P.s. This is the first Book in the series
I recommend you read this book then read
Book 2 and the others
Wow! Absolutely wow! What a phenomenal read! My heart is still pounding in my chest. This was an absolutely fantastic book. Jaw dropping and heart breaking moments that steal the show with this book. I absolutely devoured it.
This entire series is fantastic. Not for the faint of heart. She is a brilliant writer!
Well what a dirty, dark and twisted book this is!! Baylee is just a regular teen until she is taken by the one person she never thought would. Gabe is Baylee’s dad’s best friend but is he really? I can’t really say a lot without spoilers but this isn’t your average dark read. This is so much better!!! I cannot wait to see where this goes as this is a series as there are some big twists. I think Gabe is going to be a naughty one and I’m so intrigued by War! Here we go oh and you will NEVER Look at a cucumber the same again!! Told in dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger
Wow, what an introduction to this world! We follow Baylee as she navigates scenarios that no girl should face… especially at the age of 17. I don’t want to give anything away, but I definitely recommend this book. Heed the warning though, because this story is dark.
A seventeen year old Bailey got a crush on her dad’s best friend. And by the way she sometimes caught him watch her, Bailey know his looks is not innocent.
Sounds Kinky? Naughty? Dirty?
But it’s more depraved than that.
When Gabe kidnapped her from her own house. Rape her again and again. Force her orgasm. Makes her feels dirty with his mind games. And then only to sell her in a sex traffic ring…. This Is War, Baby! Definitly a dark twisted with trigger warning all over.
But isn’t in the end of the tunnel there’s always light?
Evil will always lose, right?
Love and hope will always prefail, right?
Even in War, there’s peace, yes?

Not this evil
“You’re a light in my dark world.”
I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book. K. Webster kept me guessing throughout the book. I still have so many questions I need an answer to. The book starts out with a bang! I was HOOKED right away. The first part was really dark and twisted (just the way I like my books). Baylee the heroine is captured from her home and goes through so much. She was struggling with her feelings for her captor but I think she didn’t lose herself.
“Sometimes, sweetheart, you have to make sacrifices. You, doll, are a sacrifice. Your part is small, but it is so significant.”
“While he’s the monster in and out of reality, he’s also the slayer of those demons. Somehow, he protects me from himself. It confuses me. I hate him.”
Baylee’s captor is in my opinion one crazy psycho. A hot one but still he has some major issues. He is obsessed with Baylee and doesn’t want to let her go. But he has an alternative motive for taking her and will not change his mind. He goes on to auctioning her to the highest paying bidder. But tells her that he will be back for her.
“This woman will kill me. She’ll steal my heart and chop it to fucking chunks. It’ll be a slaughterhouse of what’s left of the old me.”
War buys Baylee for 5 Million dollars (HOLY SHIT that’s a lot of $$$). War is different than everyone else. The reason he bought Baylee is not why people attend and buy girls at these auctions. He is very introvert and is obviously traumatized by something that has happened to him in his past. I don’t want to go too much into detail, I think as a reader you have to experience and guess what is going on yourself.
“Your light is already seeping into the dark parts of my soul and I’m not about to let that slip away for a second.”
“Each time you open your mouth, I’m fixated on your words, I’m drawn to the way you say them. When I’m around you, I don’t obsess over my problems because I obsess over you.”
K. Webster did an amazing job in creating a unique story with very interesting characters. I haven’t read anything like it before and I like to be surprised and not being able to predict what will happen in a book. I had the same exact feeling when I was reading her book Dirty Ugly Toy. I am looking forward to reading the sequel This is Love, Baby which will release end of March (so we don’t have to wait long!!). I need answers to my questions!!!
I loved this book its dark and steamy with a touch of hope. Baylee is betrayed by those close to her for a plot she has no idea about. As a result of this betrayal she meets someone who needs her and wont let her go. It is a dark twisted read that keeps you guessing and the book that made fall in love with K Websters writing.
If you are brave definetly read this Book it is well worth it!!
I had to take a breather after reading this before starting my review… though I didn’t want to wait too long so as not to forget to mention anything at all.
K. Webster is extraordinary. I really want to be able to read her mind to see how the heck she comes up with these stories….
Baylee and Warren…
Peace and War…
Baylee, when we meet her, is a 17 year old young girl. She’s with Brandon, her boyfriend and she lives at home with her mom and dad. Just like every teenager, she’s hormonal and changing. Though her family, Brandon and Gabe have always been her constants.
Until they don’t…..
“The devil, disguised as an angel, stands in the doorway resembling a combination of both beauty and evil.”
Baylee’s innocence is ripped off of her as trust turns into betrayal. She doesn’t stay a young girl anymore. Overnight, she’s forced to turn into a woman.
This story has seriously dark themes so can’t say you weren’t warned. But everything works together, every detail fits like the perfect puzzle piece, every description is vivid, as if you see everything in person.
Baylee ends up in a world where the main rule is “Comply and you will be rewarded–“. The tragic things that you go through with her will break your heart. The internal struggle she feels will make you hurt for her.
“The pain that precedes the pleasure. The love mixed with hate. The consent versus non-consent.”
The events that happen to Baylee leads her towards War. A dangerously mysterious man with a serious affliction.
Both broken but drawn to each other for various reasons.
“I’m completely crushing over this flawed man.”
Will these two broken people be enough? Will War be able to overcome his affliction? Will Bailey be safe?
I don’t really want to say much or spoil anything for people who haven’t read it yet, so I didn’t disclose everything. What I can say is, if you want a gripping story combining psycholigical, suspenseful, and romantic themes all together, then you’d enjoy This is War, Baby.
I’d refer it to to absolutely everyone I know who enjoys dark themes as well.
This is a MUST read, no doubt about it…
It took me a while to gather my thoughts enough to leave my review of this awesome book!! I was sucked in right from the beginning and the crazy ride didn’t let up, especially at the end of the book!! Yes there is a cliffhanger, but luckily the next book is now out, so I suggest you buy both right now!! This story is VERY dark, just like I love my books, because they pull me through so many different emotions, and this book did not disappoint!! I highly recommend this book and I’m not going to go into specifics about this book because you need to come to your own feelings from beginning til end, enjoy the ride!! Go, buy it, NOW!!!
4.5 stars
I am late to the War & Peace party. I put it off knowing I was behind but nagging from a certain Becky kept them fresh in my mind. I didn’t read the blurb. I knew I would enjoy them because I love the way the author writes. I didn’t read reviews. I went in blind. I did read the warning and for a whole three seconds I got worried. You see, I read dark romance all the time now. I used to fear it. I used to think it would haunt my dreams and dredge up terrible memories. I think for some it may. If you fear that kind of response, try a lighter dark romance though this is not even close to the darkest I’ve read, it does connect you to the character. You will experience fear and loathing as well as affection. So if you can’t comprehend that, it’s cool. The author writes some pretty kick butt books that aren’t dark. But if the naughty little minx hiding in your eyes smirks at the danger, then this book will captivate you.
I started my binge read of the series in preparation for the final book. I am diving in with everything I am. I have left a trail of probably 50 messages to my book buddies as I go. It will be a process. It started like this…
-You guys are gonna hold my hands right?!?! This is war baby
a minute passes…
– Holy f@ck!
I wasn’t even done with the first couple of pages. The comments went on into the night and each becomes a bit more crazed, intense, loving, filled with disbelief, angry, needy, and hopeful. I listed my immediate concern about who was involved. I might have even considered doing a flow chart to prove my point but I was too caught up in this world created by a monster. Too caught up in surviving, concentrating on what was next, how to escape…and even a part of me contemplated staying…
But don’t worry, I (cough) I mean Baylee did what she had to. She does it with a strength many would be jealous of. But in this twisted fairytale she learns more than she bargained for.
As the first installment of War & Peace came to close the last thing I could possible feel was contentment- no, I felt rage, anger, disbelief, and devastation. But cheer up because This Is Love, Baby is waiting for me.
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
I’m kind of addicted to this book, and can not wait to set in and read the rest of the series.
WOW! I really don’t know that any words I write are going to do it justice.
I kind of love Baylee, I mean she’s not all that great, but at the same time she is. And what she goes through is just kind of CRAZY, and really that’s putting it lightly.
Gabe is really just the definitely of psycho, I mean the things he thinks/says/does are like WHOA out of this world.
He does seem to have strong feelings/love for Baylee, in his warped brain of chaos.
War! Oh my gosh, his OCD is so crazy and spot on really. But the small changes you see him go through are really so sweet/intense for a man like him. I really enjoyed everything Baylee/War went through to be together emotionally and physically.
Really no matter how I try to say this or word it; it does not come close to doing this story justice.
This shit is crack. Purely addictive in the darkest and most twisted way imaginable. Holy shit, I have no idea how Baylee survived Gabe. That is one sick fucker. I couldn’t imagine the things Baylee went through, how she had no choice but to obey Gabe, and her uncontrollable responses to him. I’m pretty sure my mouth hung open in shock through most of this book.
But War. Poor tortured War. The man has some serious demons and while he has Baylee under less than legal circumstances he can’t let her go. Why? Because she is light. She keeps the demons at bay and is the key to War’s recovery. In no way, shape, or form is the circumstances of how Baylee came to be owned by War acceptable, but damn if I didn’t want Baylee to have something good happen to her after her ordeal with Gabe. While she is very naive and has some serious Stockholm syndrome going on, I just can’t hate War. I love them both so much. I like that while she first walked on eggshells around him, the more time she spends with him, she works around his quirks. I loved the moments where they touched and talked things out. I just can’t get enough.
That ending was insane and the mystery surrounding Baylee’s disappearance may have been obvious, but I was still dying to know what was going to happen with that. Can’ wait to read the next book.
Baylee is an all American teenager, budding into a beautiful girl, blonde, blue eyed innocent child. I must emphasise – she’s just child!.
She has typical teenage growing pains, beautiful boy in school pays attention to her, dad doesn’t like her dating boys, doing her homework, date curfews. Life is pretty normal.
Unless one day everything is snatched from her!
She’s kidnapped, held captive and ……..
I don’t wanna spoil your story, but remember this and teach your kids this – Predators don’t have horns or wear cloaks or drive dark vans. They’re your average , everyday people. Your next door neighbour, your family friend or your objects of attractions!!
Sadly the tender sapling is plucked from her protected garden and crushed and trampled upon by a monster who disguises himself as a Gardner. But this horror house is just a pit stop. A training center to prepare her for really Evil, Sadistic, murderers in waiting. They cover their rotten bodies with White collars and spray their heinous stench with money perfume and gather to shop for their next” Flowers” to crush their petals , suck their nectar and chew their pulps.
This soft, innocent beauty is broken down , her soul stripped and fatefully shoved into war.
A wierd place full of psychosis, paranoia imaginary diseases and phobias !!!
But In War she finds peace.
She finds a few stolen moments of respite from the storm just on the horizon.
But Satan is forever plotting and he swoops in, ending her War and damning her again to the dark cellar of hell !!!!
This book is really good, written very well and just when you are breathing easy and seeing light at the end of the tunnel, K pulls the ground beneath your feet .
I HATE salads from now on !!!!!
On to read the next book …..
I don’t even know where to start I loved this book. read the warning it will not be for everyone.
Once i started i couldn’t put it down I love Warren (War) he is such a broken man himself but i love the way he cares for Bay and she feels safe with him.
Bay is such a great character I love how she didn’t change and break cause of what that Gabe did to her.
This book has left me with so many questions that I need answering.
I Really can’t wait for book 2!
Way to start out a series!!! I will be reading all night now. This is unbelieveable
Good story, different then I was expecting. To me this story was half dark, brutal, unforgiving, full if triggers and heartbreaking; and half sweet, redemptive, caring and beautiful. The story is filled with bold characters and a dizzying plot. The two nain nale characters, Gabe and War are total opposites of each other and the poor woman gets jostled between their worlds to the point of damage to her mental health! She is a stronger women, then many I gave read before. There were a few aspects of this story that annoyed me causing me to rate it one star lower, but I cannot discuss tgem without revealing major plot points. This does have a cliffhanger ending as it is part of a seven book series. I was surprised with the story and will read the rest in between others, I don’t know that I could read all seven back to back.
This is going to be an epic bingeworthy series for me. I am trash for everything Kristie writes but this is in my top three of her books. War and Baylee were perfect together. I absolutely loved all of his issues and that it was a struggle throughout the book. And Baylee she had to go through so so much, and she still is so compassionate and sweet. I adored both of them so much.
After Baylee is stolen by her neighbor and fathers best friend she is sold to War and this was a twist of the usual sold to the billionaire trope in he really just wants companionship but they find love in one another. I adored that. My heart broke for both of them and I loved how they worked around War’s issues. It was a gripping story that I would recommend to anyone who loves dark romance.
I have so many theories and I cannot wait to continue on with the series after that cliffhanger.
I hate writing middle of the road reviews. That is when I didn’t hate a book but I didn’t love it either. It was enjoyable but there were things about it I didn’t care for. So bear with me please while I try to express my feelings on this book. This is War, Baby is the 1st book in the War & Peace series and I found it to be a pretty good read. I went into this read with really high expectations. The plot sounded so good. Almost all my friends loved it. It’s got tons of great reviews. So when I finished it and didn’t flat out love it….. I felt left out! I wanted to love it like all my friends but sadly I didn’t.
I think one of the problems I had with this book was the start. I didn’t get to warm up and connect to Baylee before she was kidnapped and the dark stuff started. I did slowly warm to Baylee though. I felt badly for all the things Gabe put Baylee through. I totally got her fear and confusion. Gabe was a great villain. OMG he was a twisted, depraved, sadist, disgusting pos. He oozed evil, and his crazy really came through the pages. Which is what you want in a dark romance. War was different for me. OCD, PTSD, and I felt his metal struggles. He had some major issues but he felt real. He was a good hero. I really love a damaged hero. War gave me that in spades. I really really liked War! He really gave this book depth!
I really enjoyed the build up of War and Bay’s relationship. It didn’t happen over night but it was a slow burn love. They start to heal each other and bring happiness to each other. I really didn’t understand what was going on with Baylee’s parents. I am dying to know why they didn’t report their child missing. So many unanswered questions! I have to be honest and say that this book wasn’t as dark and I thought it was going to be. However I want to take a second to give a warning this book has some triggers that may bother some readers. This is War has *Rape of a 17 year old, Kidnapping, being sold into sexual slavery, abuse, being held prisoner, and beatings.* All that being said the ending….OMG the cliffhanger ending had me flippin’ out. How could the author end things like that. Of course now I will have to read the next book because no way can I leave things the way they are. I need War and Bay to have their Hea and I need to see Gabe suffer, cause I hated him.
