Kayla Sinclair is a saint and real life Angel. She wears her heart on her sleeve and inspires me to be a better person.Rescuing dogs, feeding the homeless, volunteering at the local food pantry are just a few of the ways she gives back to others, although no one has ever been there for her. Falling for her was inevitable, losing her will destroy me. Letting someone in didn’t come easy, but she … someone in didn’t come easy, but she made me want to try for the first time in years.
Her bubbling personality and kind spirit make it impossible to forget a girl like her.
But when tragedy strikes and she loses all memory that our relationship ever existed, my worst nightmare comes to life.
I’ll do anything to remind her of the love we shared. I know it’ll be an uphill battle, but I won’t walk away without a fight. Whoever said all is fair in love and war never played by my rules.
Checkmate, Angel.

**This is book 2 in the Logan & Kayla Saga–a second-chance romance. Must read This is Dangerous first. However, you don’t need to read any of the other Checkmate duet series to enjoy this one, but is always recommended as they are both introduced in the earlier books.**

I feel for Kayla after her accident, especially now being able to remember the man you love but Logan is so patient and understanding with her even though he’s hurting on the inside. I loved this second chance between the two of them.
4 Delightful and Emotional Stars!!
This is the final book in the duet. Logan & Kayla’s journey picks up right where it left off and it had me hooked from start to end. Lia Langola’s performance evoked in me all the feels; I found myself laughing, crying, sad, and more, just as if I was being part of the story wanting to hug Logan for his dedication, patience and so much love for Kayla regardless of his own emotional pain. That’s what I call true love!
I absolutely loved and enjoyed this fabulous Duet!!
Imagine what it would fell like if an accident took away the memory of someone you love, and they don’t remember you, there best friend, the one they love. An accident takes Kayla’s memories from the last 2 years which includes her memory of Logan. Logan is determined to help her remember even if it means starting over for the two of them. This book has all the feels. It is an amazing ending to the checkmate series. Absolutely loved it.
Whew….. I actually was more impressed with this one than the first part of the duet…. This one had me crying so many times! Logan and Kayla really twisted my heart and almost tore it to a million pieces! And there was another point where my stomach was in knots and I was so afraid of what was going to happen! Absolutely loved this! It was so great! Logan and Kayla had quite the journey and it was a complete joy to read all about it! I can honestly say that I have FLOVED all the Checkmate books! They are just great! Definitely recommended!
Oh my the Checkmate series is over and what a really wonderful ending we received. It was a journey I’m glad I took. Logan and Kayla’s story was maybe my favorite. After the cliffhanger of the last book I wasn’t sure this couple could find there way back to each other. Thanks for a trip well worth taking.
Great finish to the duet and series
Wow. Great progression of Logan & Kayla’s relationship arc. I loved how all of the different storylines played out and most importantly concluded (I hate when loose ends are not tied up). The narrator, Lia Langola, was just as fabulous as always.
Logan and Kayla’s conclusion to their duet is amazing. I loved the connection they had and how their relationship started out.
Logan is such a great character and I was so happy to get his POV!!
Kayla allways had that innocent way about her and has such a sweet soul. You will love this lovestory and them getting their HEA…
Wonderful Story & Narration Outstanding Series!!
This is Beautiful – Checkmate: Logan & Kayla, Book 2
Checkmate Duet Series, Book 6
By: Kennedy Fox
Narrated by: Lia Langola
Series: Checkmate Duet: Logan & Kayla, Book 2, Checkmate Duet
This is beautiful indeed, Kennedy Fox does not disappoint in this final book of the series. This is the second part of Logan and Kayla’s story, it picks up right where “This is Dangerous” left off. Be sure to read or listen to that book first, this is not a standalone, and events that happened in that book is mentioned here, especially that epic ending. Kayla is in the hospital with a head injury and she has no memory of the past two years, which includes meeting Logan. Logan is heartbroken but hopeful she will remember but his hope starts to dissipate as time goes on and she is not remembering them or what they had. Kayla is the same yet parts of her are different, especially standing up for herself against her bully boss. She also gains the courage to do what she really wanted to do. Drew continue to work on his big case, we also get answers to why she was there and several other things Drew stumbled upon. I was rooting for these two as they tried to find their love once again. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is both beautifully and cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. It was great to see all the characters again, said it is the end of the series but who knows maybe one day we will hear from them again at least I hope so. Kennedy Fox thank you for this amazing series, I loved every minute of it.
And for the fabulous narration, Lia Langola is a talented narrator and voice artist. She is the one who brought all these characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She grasped each characters persona and played the role with perfection, sounding just as I pictured the to sound. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
What a ride. Logan and Kayla really went through it. I think this might be the most angst heavy yet. I love all the characters and the way Kennedy Fox can make any trope a favourite is a work of magic. Lia Langola once again knocked it out the park audio wise. I’m gutted this series is over. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
Audio review:
Lia never fails to amaze me with her voice acting.
She voices multiple characters almost seamlessly – and puts so much emotion into her storytelling that you feel like you are living in their world.
Kayla and Logan are a stunning disaster.
Their story was filled with drama, uncertainty, sadness, tears of joy, steam and happiness.
Add in their crazy group activities, a cute kid and fur babies for everyone and you have a book you don’t want to put down.
It was an emotional roller coaster for sure, but so, so worth it.
********AUDIO REVIEW********
I swear Kennedy Fox saved the really emotional stuff for Logan and Kayla. Lia Langola did such a fantastic job on all six of the books in this series but This is Beautiful probably takes the top spot. There is one part between Logan and Kayla that didn’t affect me as much when I read it as it did when I listened to it. I felt the emotion Lia was putting into the words and it was amazing. Once again she is able to go from male to female character in a heart beat and her Skylar voice was spot on for someone of Skylar’s age. She is a true talent. When This is Dangerous left off Kayla had just taken a bad fall and when she finally wakes up she thinks it is 2015 and doesn’t remember the last two years of her life and in that two year time frame is when she met Logan. He is crushed by the fact that he isn’t remembered. He finally opens up his heart and it is nearly ripped from his chest at the same time. He is warned not to to talk about his relationship with Kayla with her and to let her memories come back on their own. They “start over” but since Kayla has no memory of what was she doesn’t feel the same in the current relationship. She starts to question their relationship and pull away a bit from him and he comes to the realization of what needs to be done just as she comes to a different realization of what she wants. Then, the unthinkable happens out of the blue and all of Kayla’s memories come rushing back to her and she rushes off to find Logan. This story was written with so much emotion between Logan and Kayla and it made it all the more beautiful. Kennedy Fox never ceases to amaze me with their stories of love.
To say I am a Kennedy Fox fan is an understatement, but this was by far my favorite book in the entire series. This is the perfect ending to the Checkmate Duet Series, and I could not have chosen a better couple than Logan and Kayla. These two deserved their HEA, and Kennedy Fox made sure they earned it!
The story picks right up after Kayla’s accident. Logan is still as cocky and lovable as ever, but Kayla has no recollection of her relationship with Logan or of her past in general. While Kayla works to regain her memory, Logan must struggle with seeing the woman he loves be a stranger to him. My heart breaks for him so many times during this book. He is so patient and loving with Kayla and their dogs that it is heart warming. We also got more a glimpse of Logan’s relationship with his daughter. Daddy Logan was adorable! Reading about the different interaction with his daughter just made me fall even more in love with him, and I honestly thought no one would be able to top Deputy Drew in my book.
Kayla, although with no memory of her past, was still able to remain true to the person we have come to know and love in this series. I am not going to lie, I was freaking out a little when men from the past come back into the picture, but all was right in the world of Kayla and Logan. We are also able to find out a lot more about Kayla’s past. I honestly have fallen in love with Kayla even more at this point. Kayla will always be my favorite female character in this series.
I can honestly say I am sad to see these characters go, but Kennedy Fox did an amazing job wrapping up the series for us all. I laughed, cried, fanned myself from the hotness, and even threw the book a few times out of frustration lol. Only Kennedy Fox could write this story, there are not two better authors in my book to tell the story of this group of friends. I highly recommend this series to anyone that loves these particular tropes. You can start with Kayla and Logan or at the beginning with Travis and Viola. It honestly does not matter, just expect to be along for the ride once you begin.
Ok, so not only is this the second book in the Logan & Kayla duet, but also the final book in the whole Checkmate Duet series, and it is bittersweet.
I absolutely loved all of these books, & stories, and am sad to say goodbye to these characters, but the conclusion was written so beautifully!
Kayla wakes up in the hospital after her accident at the end of This is Dangerous, and she doesn’t remember anything for the past two years. The doctors are unsure if her memory will come back and warn her friends not to tell her anything, because thrn she may not know if she is actually remembering a memory, or if she is just remembering what someone told her.
So where does that leave her and Logan if she can’t even remember him, or learn about him through her friends? Will their relationship last through this huge obstacle, or will it inevitably come to a devastating end?
Just like the rest of the Checkmate books this book is filled with twists, turns, love, heartbreak, drama, and sex. And a conclusion to all the beloved characters you don’t want to miss!
I give this book 5 out of 5- i absolutely love it, it was a great way to wrap up such an amazing series.
This was a wonderful end to this Wonderful Series. Logan and Kayla have stolen my heart. Watching them fall in love in “This is Dangerous” was so wonderful and the end left me heartbroken. Kennedy Fox took Second Chance romance to a whole new level. With Kayla’s memory gone Logan has to win her back. It went from Kayla chasing Logan to Logan chasing Kayla. My heart broke for Logan so much in this book. I felt so bad for him and also for Kayla. They both have to find a way to live with this new reality of no memories. Logan won’t give up on Kayla he will be whatever she needs him to be. Kayla has to learn about the last two years all over again which means she has to learn about Logan again. She can see why she would fall for him he is gorgeous and so sweet. The physical attraction is there she just has to fall back in love with him. Logan loves Kayla with everything he has and all he wants is for her to remember the love they shared. Reading about this wonderful couple going through this was so heartbreaking. This couple has a special place in my heart I love them so much. This is a pair that was meant to be. Kayla and Logan are a couple you become invested in. From beginning to end this couple has gone through so much and has only come out stronger. This was a heartbreakingly Wonderful read.
Love truly conquers all in the amazing ending to this Wonderful duet and this truly amazing series. They way Kennedy Fox brought these characters to life is truly amazing. I am so happy that they took this chance on these characters and this series! I just want to talk about how Beautiful this Cover is!! Oh my gosh I could look at it all day! Its so Beautiful its my favorite cover out of the series!! It really encompasses Logan and Kayla! (Look at Logan’s Arms)
Checkmate: This is Beautiful is the perfect conclusion to the Checkmate Duet series. Logan and Kayla’s story was something I did not expect and was completely surprised by in This is Dangerous and was left waiting with one hell of a cliffhanger. This is Beautiful starts back up right where we left off, with Kayla and Logan’s love story hanging in the balance. While Kayla tries to remember, Logan is a battle to hang on to the love that he has always needed. I love Kayla and Logan and felt that their story was the best of all the couples, hands down. The things that Logan does for Kayla are completely selfless and so full of love, I was in tears for more than half the book. Everything fell together perfectly in this book, I’m so sad the series is over!
