USA Today Bestselling BookShe’s never left her home in the mountain wilderness of the Canadian Rockies—until now. Little did she realize this journey would change her life in every way.The mountain wilderness of her family’s home in the Canadian Rockies is all Hannah Grant has ever known. Now at the age of twenty-four, she’s on a journey to help her father to find the son he gave up for adoption … her father to find the son he gave up for adoption three decades before. This is Hannah’s chance to discover the life she’s missed out on so far—and hopefully find a husband along the way. But she certainly doesn’t plan to fall for the first man she meets.
Years in the cavalry provided Nathaniel Peak with more than his share of violence and adventure. That life behind him, he wants nothing more than to settle down in the beautiful Montana mountains and raise his own stock—in peace. The last thing he expects is the savagely wounded child who shows up in his barn. Nor the woman he comes to rely on for the girl’s care.
Hannah can’t help but fall in love with the brave Indian child who so desperately needs her, but no matter what, she can’t let herself fall for the man whose past choices go against everything she believes in. As the situation grows worse, Hannah and Nathaniel are forced to make a heart-rending decision to save the girl’s life. Little do they imagine, the choice they make could spell disaster for them all.

This Healing Journey is the heartwarming conclusion of the delightfully epic and adventurous Heart of the Mountains series. This entire journey and the families intertwined within it are wonderfully vivid and captivating.
Hannah is the epitome of compassionate and hardworking mountain folk. She’s clever, intelligent, and wise enough to lean on faith, especially when the going gets tough. Nathaniel is seeking a new start and I admire his determination and have to appreciate a man just looking for a quiet corner of the world to call his own.
Longtime fans of Beller’s Mountain Dreams series will be doubly pleased with several crossover cameos by beloved characters. Themes of adoption, informal fostering, and blended families reflect emotions and possible conflicts people continue to experience today. I highly recommend this story and the entire Heart of the Mountains series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Such a wonderful story! I was SUPER excited to see a return of some of my favorite characters from this series, along with a few new ones!
Hannah Grant, now grown, is desperate to travel beyond her own little world and wonders: Could there be someone out there, beyond her family’s little valley, for her?
Enter Nathaniel Peak. Strong, protective, kind, and gentle, Nathaniel has come a long way since his days in the service. All he wants is to settle down and breed horses, but dangers, mystery, and a certain young lady come courting, interrupting his plans and begging the question: Could God have more in store for him than he’d planned for himself?
This Healing Journey is a heart-warming and adventure-filled story of faith and acceptance. I loved it SO much! It touches your heart and draws you into a beautiful (and dangerous) world that you’ll never want to leave!
Wow! I can’t believe we arrived at the end of this series! I’m so sad to let the characters go!
Still, this is a series I’m sure I’ll read and reread again. I could say it’s my favorite western historical romance series!
This final and seventh book is about Hannah and Nathaniel. Hannah has never left the Canadian Rockies and doesn’t know anything outside of the small village where she has always lived. But when her father Simeon asks her to accompany him and his wife Emma, to search for his long lost son, who was left for adoption three decades ago… Hannah is fascinated by the new landscape, people, and everything she encounters. She even dreams she may find an honorable man among the Montana free and open territory, but she’s not desperate and knows she just won’t accept just any man, but the one that follows God. The encounter between Simeon with his son Reuben is so emotional that I shed a few tears, heartwrenching yet hopeful and inspiring. So much to make up and forgive, but Reuben is an amazing man who had already settled with his wife in a ranch, and a very godly man. I truly loved seeing Reuben again and learn more about his past and his life after marriage.
Once settled at her new found brother’s house, Hannah meets Nathaniel, the neighbor -and an ex cavalry man-, who has just discovered an injured Indian girl named Itu abandoned in his barn. Itu’s care becomes something that brings them together as they help the little girl heal. I just fell in love with Itu, and I loved how they communicated with her in spite of their different language. And Hannah’s sweet nature and kind spirit while caring for Itu was admirable. I loved the main characters, both strong minded, yet kind and compassionate. Their growing romance is really sweet in spite of fears and uncertainties.
The plot has everything: drama, adventure, intrigue, revenge from Itu’s family that puts them in danger, sweet love and protectiveness by the main characters, and family love… And yes, humor too! I cried and laughed through this book!
I also loved seeing previous characters from the series, and even from a previous series book, The Lady of the Mountain Call.
My favorite aspect of this book, as well as the previous ones, is the faith in God. The trust they have in Him or discover after particular circumstances. How they pray to Him, by thanking Him, asking His forgiveness, or His aid. But there’s always God’s Grace and Protection present everywhere.
I think it’s the perfect ending for a beautiful series. I know nothing lasts forever, but it hope Ms Beller will keep us inspired with new series and stories.
Thank you Ms Beller for a wonderful story and series and can’t wait to see what you have in mind next. Praying for you so that you keep inspiring people through this God given talent.
Very recommended story, a definite a must read! Can be read standalone, but it’s richer and more enjoyable if you get to know the characters and their trials from the start.
Another wonderful book by Misty Beller. The Heart of the Mountain series is just fantastic! I get started on one and just don’t want to stop until I’ve read it from cover to cover. This story talks about Moriah and how she meets Samuel Grant. The Grants are wonderful men who treat women just the way a woman wants to be treated. I loved every single character in the book!
This Healing Journey
Heart of the Mountains, Book 7
By: Misty M. Beller
Narrated by: Leonor A Woodworth
Misty M Beller finishes the Heart of the Mountains series with a beautiful story! This one really touched my heart. Nathaniel and Hannah’s story is incredibly captivating for a couple of reasons. They meet when Hannah helps her father find the children he gave up close to 30 years ago. Nathaniel is settling into his home when he finds Itu, an injured Indian child in his barn. Itu is severely injured and with the help of Hannah, Nathaniel begins to care for her. But danger is lurking, and when Itu disappears, Nathaniel and Hannah’s lives change. Not only are they scared for their lives, but they realize deeper feelings for each other. But will they survive? And will Itu live to be a happy, healthy little girl? I can’t say enough good things about this series. It not only has wonderful love stories set in a time period that I love, but the bones of the story are so good. While stand alones, they do flow together and we get bits and pieces of each over the years. In this one, the center of the story with Itu is one of compassion and love, as well as their faith in God. It’s a beautiful ending to this series.
Leonor A Woodworth finishes out the series with her incredible narrations. I love her voice. She always hones in on the character and is able to find the perfect voice and inflections to give to her portrayal and it gives a unique personality to each one. Her voice is soothing and makes the listen extremely enjoyable.

This Healing Journey by author Misty M. Beller is a Christian historical romance. This is the series finale, Book 7, in her Heart of the Mountain Series. It can easily be read by itself but the others are so good you will want to read them, too.
This is the story of Hannah Graces is a determined, strong, caring woman that has a desire to be with family. It is also about Nathaniel, a strong, dedicated, handsome man. Their chemistry is undeniable and beautiful.
Set in the rugged mountains, this Christian historical romance captured my attention and gave me a glimpse of life without modern conveniences. The author had done her research well. At times I felt like I was in danger, in the perilous terrain. My heart and emotions went out to this couple. I loved reading their love story. It left me smiling.
It was refreshing how they trusted in God. They learned to listen to His leading and trust in His plan for their lives. Don’t we all need to do that?
The story had some twists and turns, surprises, and was so interesting from start to finish. The author has a wonderful way with words. She weaves them together into a smooth story. Conversations are realistic and do not sound forced. Her characters are well developed and seem like friends. It is a pleasant writing style.
I highly recommend this book for anyone that likes historical, adventure, Christian romance. It is thought provoking and provides many life lessons. I rated it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but I was not required to write a review. These are my honest opinions.
This Healing Journey pulled me immediately into the story. Being the seventh book in a series, there are a lot of characters to get to know, but I enjoyed every single one of them. The setting was picturesque. The romance was slow, sweet and realistic. And the journey Hannah and Nathaniel face together while trying to do what God has called them to do is suspenseful and heartwarming.
I enjoyed watching both Hannah and Nathaniel try to balance their dreams with the calling God placed on their hearts. It was encouraging to see them frequently turn to God in prayer to guide them along their journey–which was definitely not without risk to themselves!
I absolutely adored Hannah and wish she could teach me how to live in the mountains! She is tough when she needs to be, but has the broadest, softest heart. She is a true servant of Christ and is always finding ways to help others even at her own expense.
Nathaniel is a typical handsome hero, but he has a tender side that really makes him swoon-worthy. The care and responsibility he applies to the child left in his care are endearing. And I love how his favorite things about Hannah have nothing to do with her looks and everything to do with her inner strength and her compassionate heart.
It was a pleasure to follow along on Hannah and Nathaniel’s journey and watch them grow together as they worked to save the wounded girl. I will add that I haven’t read the other books of the series, and I never felt like I was lost in the story. So, don’t hesitate to try this book as a stand alone. It’s a wonderfully told story!
I was given a copy of this book by Celebrate Lit in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
What a beautiful ending to this series! I am truly going to miss the anticipation of another book in the Heart of the Mountain series. This book is Nathanial and Hannah’s story. And just as the other books in the series, author Misty Beller does an amazing job of creating a cast of characters and placing them in the perfect setting as you follow them on this horrific journey through the wilderness of the Canidian Rockies.
I love Nathanial and Hannah. And the tenderness in taking care of this precious child. But Hannah tries to guard her emotions because she can’t fall in love with someone like Nathanial. Check out this amazing read for many hours of enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did. And don’t forget to check out all of the other books in this series. You don’t want to miss reading then all.
A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
This book has all the makings for a great movie with adventure, danger, healing and family. I loved every minute I spent with the story and loved Hannah and Nathaniel as they became closer. I don ‘t want to spend my time on how they met or the history behind them, because that can be found as you read the story.
I do want to say how much I like Hannah and her compassionate heart towards the small Indian girl named Itu. The child was severely hurt and the the little group of people that helped her never complained. I could feel the girl’s pain and her injuries became dangerous and there was little anyone could do. The neighbor’s pitched in whenever needed and I loved how much they bonded.
The scenery surrounding them was a sight to see. Beautiful mountains and pastures ripe for farming were readily available. The food didn’t sound very appetizing, but living in the frontier, you can’t expect gourmet meals.
There are a few surprises in the story which enhanced the plot and made it flow with intrigue. The dangers of living in the wilderness was always just a step away from them. I particularly liked the part when Hannah and Nathaniel become captives of the Indians. The real danger was with the father of Itu. He was angry seeing his child suffer and wanted to take it out on Hannah. That scene is very hard to read and I held my breath thinking I knew what was going to happen.
The author fills the pages with details of Indian ways and it became clear that Hannah was being targeted for a reason. I was on the edge of my seat as Hannah tried desperately to escape. I have never read a more intense scene than the one played out between Hannah and Itu’s father. It is one that will make you hold your breath as you quickly turn the pages.
I’m sad to see the series end, but the author has succeeded in delivering a journey of hope, love, and faith. There are times I cried and times I smiled as the characters travel to their destination. The faith element was perfect in the story and I am satisfied with the ending of a series that captures the frontier in a story filled with many challenges.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
What an emotional finalization of the Heart of the Mountains series! I hated to know this was the end because I enjoyed them all. This audiobook’s narrator was wonderful as usual. I have gotten used to Leonor Woodworth’s narration of this series and it just felt like I was coming home to finish the story. And in truth that’s what it was.
The characters are complex and well written. I enjoyed so much Nathaniel and Hannah bonding over a little girl while trying to save her life. Then the story comes full circle with Simeon and Reuben getting to meet. A book that has dangers lurking and is inspirational with a tender love story that you don’t want to miss.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the narrator and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
My Thoughts:
I am kicking myself that I haven’t read this entire series before. It’s one of those that you just fall in love with all the characters and can’t help but keep reading and want to know the whole story of each of the characters. They’re that loveable and relatable.
While I have not read this whole series I have reviewed another book by this author and I loved it just as much. So I’m going to say that this author is truly amazing and has a great style of writing. You fall in love with the characters and feel like you’re there with them. Holding their hand in your mind you gently coach them on. Of course, it doesn’t make any difference what you say but it does make you feel better.
I love books like this. There’s a tiny bit of danger, some romance, and some adventure. As a mama, my heart goes out to the poor child. Being a woman I feel for Hannah and what she feels she must do versus what her heart is telling her. I can even relate to Nathaniel. That takes some good writing as I normally don’t really care much how the men in the book feel as long as they act the way I want them to.
Sometimes I rewrite books in my head because they didn’t happen as I wanted them to. I didn’t have to do this with this book. It came out just perfect. Definitely, one that I recommend. I also am going to recommend reading the whole series, not because I don’t think they make sense without reading them in the series but because they’re just that good.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
I really enjoyed this final book of this series. I loved how Hannah was so kind to everyone and she wanted to help Nathaniel. It was fun to read of Hannah’s journey to find her true love. I did not want to put this book down. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
What I think you should know:
This Healing Journey is the seventh book in the Heart of the Mountains Series, while this book contains characters from prior books in the series this can be read as a standalone novel. It is set in the late 1800s. Hannah Grant is a determined woman who isn’t afraid to face anything thrown at her as long as she has God. Nathaniel is a man who grew up with Faith, but seems to have lost his way, will he find his way back to the faith of his youth or has life stolen it from him?
What I wish I would have known:
Misty M. Beller has written a book that made me forget to go to bed so that I could find out what happened to Hannah and Nathaniel. I could not put this book down!
Who will love this book( Just to name a few):
Fans of Historical Fiction
Fans of Christian Fiction
Fans of Danger and Adventure
I received a complimentary copy for this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own
This is a wonderful book!! It is the last book in the Heart of the Mountains series, but can be read as a stand alone. If you like christian fiction, you will love this book and the whole series. The author paints beautiful pictures with her words and makes you feel like you are there. I highly recommend this book.
I have never read Misty Beller before, but that was not a problem in reading this last book of the Heart of the Mountains Series, This Healing Journey. Well-titled, several people actually find a form of healing in this novel of the 1880s in Montana.
Nathaniel Peak is a former cavalryman with regrets, hoping to leave that life behind to start his own ranch. Neighbors and visitors play heavily into this historical romance, with some visitors more welcome than others.
Who will not lose their heart to sweet, stoic, little Itu, both brave and afraid? I wasn’t really sure how Beller was going to play her cards with little Itu, but I thought Beller did an excellent job of creating some extra love, fear, excitement, and tension with this character.
The point-of-view is always third person, although each chapter starts with a first person thought. We juggle back and forth between several people’s third person pov throughout the story. Since I had not read any books before this, I did have to go back a time or two and see who was whom. However, I felt that was pretty minor for picking up a series at book seven.
“Wasn’t a cow a cow?” Oh, boy!!
At least Nathaniel knew his horses better than that!
Hannah surprised me. After experiencing her father’s love all her life, she becomes keenly aware that she may be on a path to disappoint him. This, then, leads her to worry that she will lose his love. To be fair, relationships were changing around her, and she had to realize that the most important voice to listen to was God’s.
”When my spirit has this much unrest, it’s usually God guiding me a different way.”
This Healing Journey started slow, and I would have liked to see more dimension to the characters. However, this is a great story of faith, beginning anew, loving enough to forgive, and loving enough to let go. By the end, this had become a very exciting and unnerving story.
A quote of forgiveness:
“I don’t know what our lives would have looked like if you’d decided the other way, but what if’s don’t matter at the end of the day. You made the choice you felt was right, and God worked good from it.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Celebrate Lit. This in no way affects my opinions which are solely my own.
This Healing Journey by Misty Beller is the seventh in the “Heart of the Mountain” series but can be read as a stand alone novel. The series is fantastic and I have enjoyed so much reading each book. If you love stories of the early settlements and the mountains with all it’s hardships, you will love this book and all the others. She brings in other characters from previous books and ties them all together. This one involves a young injured Indian girl that was left in a barn on Nathaniel’s property. Neighbors came to help him with this child, especially Hannah who was visiting her brother whom she had never met. Most of the story revolves around the care of this child and then her disappearing from the cabin. A story about loving each other and giving of one’s self to help another in need. As they learn to trust each other they realize that they must put their trust in a Higher power. A beautiful story indeed. I was given a copy from the author and I am happy to leave a positive review.
‘Lord, have You brought me to this place for such a time as this? Use me for Your plan.’ – Hannah
The author has drawn a circle around this Heart of the Mountains series by returning Simeon to the place where his life totally changed. Will he be able to close that circuit? Nathaniel has returned from the cavalry with the emotional scars war brings with it. His hope is that settling in the mountains will bring him the peace that he craves. Much of the story revolves around a young Indian girl, Itu, who has had a very bad accident. Will this situation bring danger to those trying to help her and will healing extend to others?
With the beauty and hardships of the mountain life, the author has once again captivated us with a fabulous conclusion. While it can be read alone, there will be much more enjoyment if one starts at the beginning of this series, all of which I highly recommend.
I received an ARC from the author and CelebrateLit. My positive review was not expected but is cheerfully given. All impressions and opinions are my own.
This is the last in the series and it was so easy to fall in love with the new characters and join with them in the life experiences they faced. Not always easy to make decisions for the welfare of another but always made with love and seeking God’s will. I had trouble putting this book down and, at times I wasn’t able to read, I found that I was thinking of the characters and what they would be doing next. Each book in the series stands alone but it is still nice to have favorite people from past books be a part of the story. I am looking forward to the next series Misty is writing.
This Healing Journey by Misty M Beller is the seventh and final book in the Heart of the Mountains series. Having read a number of the previous books (and have on my TBR pile the others), I find writing this review to be a bittersweet experience as it is such a captivating series and I am sad that it is completed. The books can be read as separate entities but reading the full set brings a richer experience knowing more of the background of the characters and how each of the characters fit into the stories. In This Healing Journey, readers will find the story of Nathaniel and Hannah and their journey to a life together in the Montana mountains of the late 1880s.
It is a beautiful and captivating story of unexpected love during stressful situations. The writing style is graceful and flows smoothly and the author has beautifully crafted her characters—Hannah, strong, self-reliant and full of determination. Nathaniel, a retired military man, trying to get a rancher’s life started and a sweet brave Indian child with a venomous, vengeful father. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Hannah and Nathaniel begin and change throughout the story as they encountered so many struggles and dangers. Strong characters that are so likable, realistic situations, wonderfully descriptive scenes all work together for a delightful story of family and love. Threaded throughout the book also is a faith in God–the God who never leaves us alone and can bring peace in even the direst situations. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the new series of books Ms. Beller has planned.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.
This Healing Journey
This is the last book in the series. I loved each book in the series. A wonderful book for the ending.
Hannah is traveling with her father. He is looking for his son he gave up for adoption. It had been awhile since reading the first book but I do remember it. I definitely recommend reading it. Basically every book in the series could be considered a stand alone.
Nathaniel is the neighbor of Hannah brother. He finds a young Indian girl in his barn. She has been hurt really bad. Most of the book is involving the care of her.
I loved the characters of Hannah and Nathaniel. Both took such good care of the child. They wanted to make sure they did everything they could to restore her health.
I received an advanced copy of the book from the author through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
