The sheltered daughter of a country baron, Miss Adeline Pimm comes to London looking for adventure… and finds it in the form of a bloody, unconscious man slumped in the doorway of her family’s rented townhouse. Though his identity is a mystery, Adeline is inexplicably drawn to the handsome, injured man and vows to nurse him back to health. Liam Cavanaugh, the scandalous Earl of Wolford, is … Wolford, is startled when he awakens in an unfamiliar bed, wrapped in bandages that hinder his eyesight, with no memory of why he was beaten half to death. Although he can’t see the witty young woman who tends to his wounds, her alluring voice—and a single stolen kiss from her soft lips—helps soothe his pain. But when he is fully healed, Liam is not ready to let go of the one woman who stirs his deepest longings.
Liam will do whatever it takes to see Adeline again, even if it means giving up his rakish ways. But his disreputable past is not so easily forgotten and his secrets are far more dangerous than he—or Adeline—ever imagined.

This enjoyable book kept my interest from start to finish. A nice escapist read to bring a smile to your heart.
Such a wonderfully romantic book – that was also loads of fun! I LOVED Adeline with her corrective shoes and determination to be seen the same as any other young woman. She had such amazing wit and heart, but also a lot of pride. You could *feel* her struggles. And Liam! ::Happy sigh::: Such an amazing hero! I absolutely loved that he barely noticed Adeline’s physical issue and instead saw her beauty inside and out. Liam had his own emotional struggles, of course, and it made for some exciting reading as these two strong, caring, often misunderstood people found their way to happy ever after. I closed the book with a big smile!
This is my second read by the author, different from the first one but with two great characters.
Adeline Primm longs for an adventure, all her life sheltered by her parents because she is crippled, she has great hope for her first time in London. And it begins quite grandly with a wounded stranger lying on their doorstep.
She is a kind young woman, coming from an unusual and very hospitable family. But she refuses to be anymore pitied because of her limp, why she is so very determined to never marry. In contact with Liam and the London’s ton, she will have to grew up, accept what she can’t change but also see where is her strength.
« After all, if she weren’t so determined not to marry, even she would find herself wanting to marry him too, and to love him openly, unreservedly, instead of concealing her feelings as she had been since— »
Liam Cavanaugh hides his loneliness behind a rakish facade and his compulsive need to amass artefacts. Past heartaches caused him to avoid trusting and being close of peoples, even his kin. So much he decided to not marry until he reaches his sixties. But Adeline with her wits and refreshing view of life will help him heal his soul.
« How had he let this happen? How had he let her crawl under his skin and live in his veins? Hell, every breath he took was filled with her scent. Every sound filled with her wit. Every sight filled with her smile and her eyes. »
Together they will fix their inner scars and find a way to get through their fear of the marriage mart.
A lovely tale of two wounded persons who will find their path to another, a 4.5 stars.
The part I loved the most in this book is, there heroine is not perfect. Adeline is disabled but independent and strong and an all around likeable character. Liam jumps the gun and tends to think the worst of everyone but as far as hero’s go, he pretty great. I love the writing and the storyline. The book held my attention from beginning to end.
A great story, wonderful characters and engaging!
I enjoyed the way Ms. Lorret laid out her story – not at all the usual romance formula. It was a refreshing, fun read, and still as steamy as a romance book reader would hope to read!
This is a really cute book to read and it’s a quick read. A nice uplifting romance!!!!
