Rule #1: Do not fall for your brother’s best friend.Rule # 2: Absolutely do not fall for your brother’s best friend.Rule # 3: Don’t break the rules. ShayJackson Stone is hot—like burn-down-buildings kind of hot. He’s also my brother’s best friend, and the memory of one kiss with him years ago still might get to me. Maybe. But, I am not looking for a second chance. When I return to the small town … looking for a second chance.
When I return to the small town of Stolen Hearts Valley, my life is a hot mess. I’m a few bucks shy of broke with nowhere else to go. My heart’s battered and bruised, and when it comes to romance, the door is nailed shut.
But Jackson’s the kind of man women ruin panties over. Oh, and he’s my roommate. Talk about too close for comfort.
When I’m at my most vulnerable, he pulls that whole knight-in-shining-armor thing. What can I say? He’s near impossible to resist.
Jackson
Shay Martin is my best friend’s little sister. And she’s so hot she nearly sets me on fire.
She’s a walking complication, and I don’t do complications. But I can’t seem to stay away from her. It doesn’t help that her bedroom is across the hall from mine.
Every look, every kiss, every touch nearly brings me to my knees. I can’t keep my balance, much less think. Before I know it, I’ll do anything for her.
*This is a full-length standalone romance with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

Excellent romance with a bit of a western theme. Jackson runs his family’s ranch which has several different businesses throughout. Shay came home to try to get herself back together after a long term abusive relationship. Jackson is Shays older brothers best friend yet they share an attraction. I love the way the author described the characters so the reader could feel they’re struggle. It was an excellent storyline. I received a complementary copy via Booksprout and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books from this author.
Jackson and Shay are both broken when they get reacquainted. Jackson is best friends with Shay’s brother. Shay is good friends with Jackson’s sister. They can’t possibly make it work between them. Somehow they find a way to heal themselves and each other. This is an amazing story of survival and finding love when they needed the most but expected it the least!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Thoughts were overboard. Shows failure to communicate can come back & nite you.
If you don’t like sex being described often, just skip those pages.
I’ve never quite gotten the concept of a siblings friends being offlimits. Might be I don’t have brothers. Maybe it is a don’t muddy the pool theory. Anyways, I know I generally like books by Croix, so I was eager to read this one. I had to just accept the ‘off limits’ basis. It was harder for me to accept the totally abused woman being touchable by a male so soon. Accept that and then it is a great story.
Didn’t like the female character so couldn’t get into book
Was not crazy about this story. Too much sex and not enough story. Don’t recommend this one.
