“This is true Chick Lit…relatable, quirky, and downright hilarious.” -Brookeblogs.com ★★★★★“I couldn’t put the book down and literally woke the hubz up in the middle of the night because I was laughing so hard at one point.” -Mama’sGot Flair ★★★★★From Readers’ Favorite Book Award winner, Becky Monson, comes a chick lit romance series that will keep you laughing. For fans of Sophie Kinsella, … laughing. For fans of Sophie Kinsella, Helen Fielding, & Jennifer Weiner, follow the adventures of Julia Dorning as she tries to escape spinsterhood.
Julia Dorning is a spinster, or at least on the road to becoming one. She has no social life, hates her career, and lives in her parent’s basement with her cat, Charlie.
With the arrival of Jared Moody, the new hire at work, Julia’s mundane life is suddenly turned upside down. Her instant (and totally ridiculous) crush on the new guy causes Julia to finally make some long-overdue changes, in hopes to find a life that includes more than baking and hanging out with Charlie.
But when the biggest and most unexpected change comes, will the new and improved Julia be able to overcome it? Or will she go back to her spinster ways?
“Dear fans of Bridget Jones, Sophie Kinsella, and Marian Keyes, I have found an American author for you to meet and watch!” -Andi’s Book Reviews ★★★★★

I loved this whole series (I accidentally read it backward when I got my hands on book 3 first)! It’s one of those kinds of books that make you laugh out loud, swoon for the hero, and totally relate to the heroine and her struggles. I’ve gone on to read almost all of the rest of Becky Monson’s books and hope she’ll continue writing more!
The perfect escape from all the drama in the world. Such a fun read.
Amazing!!!!! I couldn’t but the book down until I finished it. And once I was done, I needed more. Amazing characters, amazing writing, amazing everything!
Absolutely loved it! Think I’ll re-read it again soon (and I don’t normally re-read books).
I loved how real the main character is
Julia keeps calling herself a spinster. She works and bakes for family and friends. She lives in her parents basement until she meets Jared at the job she hates. When she’s fired she makes changes to her life even though she doesn’t take to change well. If you like chick lit type romance you will like this story.
This book started out cute. I found it so predictable that even though I managed to finish reading it I just can’t bring myself to read the next one in the series.
Loved this series!
I enjoyed this story as a fun read of a quirky character who holds no illusions about herself. It’s a nice look into the life of a contemporary single woman with no real plan for her life, she’s just drifting along and letting the winds of life blow her along. And she knows it. But when a new employee hires on, her safe and boring foundation is …
This a great read. A hilarious story. I love Becky Monson’s books and highly recommend them.
Love Becky Monson’s writing and I love Julia in all three of her books.
One of the best series out there!
This was a light hearted, fun read. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this refreshing read. I would read more by this author.
Such a fun read! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
This book was okay, at times a bit unrealistic but I still found it enjoyable enough to finish.
The book started a little slow. I found the main charter, Julia, a bit annoying. Maybe because I just didn’t believe the way they made her okay with having and good job and living in her parents basement. That was just not believable to me.
I …
The series is fun and playful. For those of us who have imperfections, it’s nice to know the good gals win out sometimes!!!
Cute story, I’ve read the second one too. Reading the third soon.
Loved it! Read it all in a few enjoyable hours.
Even though it was predictable, it was humorous! Many should be able to relate to working in a in you really don’t like and the inertia for trying to change. She makes lemonade out of lemons.
