Life in Henryetta, Arkansas is turned upside down with the arrival of a televangelist, but it’s the death of a little old lady on Rose’s street that catches her attention. The Henryetta police deem her death natural causes, but Rose suspects foul play and so does an unlikely supporter- the president of the Busy Body Club, her eighty-two year old neighbor Mildred.
But Rose is in the middle of … opening her nursery with her sister Violet, who’s separated from her husband Mike, as well as stalling her boyfriend Joe’s family, rich socialites who are determined to meet her. Along with her multiple encounters with Fenton County’s new assistant DA, Mason Deveraux III, it’s just another day in the life of Rose Gardner- chaos.

Exciting to see Rose doing something she loves by opening out the nursery. She is also making new friends even Mason the Assistant DA who turns out not as much as a jerk that he has been in the past. Once a cast out in the town alone and Rose is gaining a large growing group of amazing friends.
It is hilarious the different awkward situations Rose continues to get into. Trouble just clings to her like static.
The emotions through this book are up and down but oh so enjoyable. Another page turner for sure.
The end does leave you hanging to find out what happens.
Onto Falling to Pieces!!
I am a huge fan of the series, but THIS is the book where things really start getting intense for Rose. Between trying to solve the murders of old ladies around town, trying to open a business with her sister, her sister’s on-going marriage problems, and her own issues with her boyfriend’s parents, this book has all of the page-turning drama that I have come to love in this series! The end of this book is just WOW!! Even when I re-read this book, I have trouble not skipping to it because it is just THAT good! Don’t miss this installment of Rose Gartner!
I love this series so far. It keeps getting better and better. Rose’s character keeps growing. It shows how she handles relationships and situations that surround her. She is slowly starting to stand up for herself and others who can’t stand up for themselves, while dealing with Joe’s past, and dealing with Violet and her secrets. It was an intriguing mystery that kept me guessing and laughing until it was done.
I really liked this book. Afraid Joe is really going to mess up. The story really turns in a different direction then what I expected.I really like to see Rose growing in this book I felt she is finally starting to grow after all she has been through. Violet really bothers me and I fell she is going to be trouble in books to come. If you have found this book and haven’t read it or the others get them now. you will not be disappointed.
Thirty and a Half Excuses introduces us to a new member of the community and the New Hope Revival Church, Jonah Pruitt. I’m loving this new character and the great friendship he brings to the table for Rose, even though I was a little hesitant to accept him into Rose’s world at first. In this book Rose gets caught up in another murder investigation and enlists the help of Miss Mildred who I was so excited to see back in this book. She is truly one of my favorite nosy neighbors. Rose also takes on a new business venture with her sister Violet with opening the new nursery in town. This is only book three, yet I am so invested in these characters! Denise has a wonderful way of writing that sucks you into their world. I recommend reading this book for the romance, secrets, and more exciting of adventures of Fenton County.
Joe from the beginning, I just was not feeling his vibe. He seemed very needy and hating to lose Rose but somewhat felt like he didn’t try. The end jerked majorly at my heart strings but I’m surprisingly okay with it.
Mason always comes to the recuse for Rose. Many times now, in fact. I love that, because he’s there for her when Joe isn’t. He actually seems to do something to help her with these mysteries.
The big secret was very pivotal part of the book and of Joe and Rose’s relationship. Hilary and then Joe’s family… Rose is so much better than me, she holds her cool for how some talk to her. Like the audacity of some!
I’m loving this change in the series and can’t wait to see what I’ll read next in Falling to Pieces!
I love this author (Denise Grover Swank) and am hooked on the Rose Gardener mystery series. I just keep wondering what is going to happen next for Rose.
I so loved this whole series! Denise is such a great writer. Can’t wait for book 4!
Life seems to be in complete chaos for Rose in this book. She’s uncertain where she stands with Joe, Mason, the creepy new town preacher, and Violet. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster where you can’t even tell what’s up or down. Characters develop in this book and we see a more confident Rose blooming…pun intended. I couldn’t put it down!
This is the 3rd book in the Rose Gardner Mystery series and it definitely did not disappoint. We’re introduced to new characters in this book and Rose and her sister have opened up a new business together! Rose’s relationship with Joe was really put to the test in this book and it is hard to like Joe as much after reading this book. Rose’s sister, Violet, is also becoming a less likable character in this book and her actions, words, and choices throughout are very frustrating. I am liking Mason more after reading this book and I’m glad we’ve learned more about his past and how he’s connected to Joe.
As in the previous books, there’s plenty of humor, romance, and mystery but there’s much more serious emotions in this book. There were definitely moments in this book that made me want to cry. For me, it’s a good sign when books can make me feel strong emotions this deeply because the author has made me really care for the characters in the book. Looking forward to more books to come!
Thirty and a half Excuses provided a thrilling new chapter in Rose’s life. Denise Grover Swank has created characters that I have become personal vested in. Through her attention to detail I feel like I know them personally. I feel Rose’s happiness and heartache with her. I am so happy Neely Kate and Mason will be major characters in Rose’s life. I love she has included Bruce Wayne in Rose’s journey, also. I am excited to see how Violet and Rose’s nursery does in future books. I can’t wait to see Rose pick herself up from her latest fall and hopefully become stronger because of it.
Awesome series!!!
such rich, rich characters who continually surprise and amaze.
