Sneaking out of the palace wasn’t one of Aniri’s best ideas. But she’s the Third Daughter of the Queen of Dharia—zero responsibilities and zero royal duties. She’s just the backup daughter, in case her older sisters’ arranged marriages—to take the crown or broker an alliance—don’t quite work out. But once Aniri reaches her 18th birthday, she’ll be truly free… and then she can marry the charming … charming fencing instructor she meets for fevered kisses in the forest.
But then the impossible happens—a marriage proposal. From a barbarian prince in the north, no less. And if Aniri refuses, the threat of their new flying weapon might bring war.
So she agrees to the young prince’s proposal, but only as a subterfuge to spy on him, find the weapon, and hopefully avoid both war and an arranged marriage to a man she doesn’t love. But once she arrives in the sweeping mountains of the north, she discovers the prince has his own secrets… and saving her country may end up breaking her heart.
This Bollywood-style royal romance takes you to an alternate East Indian world filled with skyships, saber duels, and lots of royal intrigue.
THIRD DAUGHTER is the first book in the Royals of Dharia trilogy.

This was an interesting book. The only problem I found with it was that it was hard to find a character to relate to.
I look foward to reading more about these characters and their world.
Forced to choose an arranged marriage and to leave her family and boyfriend, she must spy out a new doomsday weapon. Can her fiance ever trust her again, or should she run away home? After getting devestating news about her father’s death, she wonders how she will continue.
Lots of twists, lots of characters changing in interesting ways.
I always appreciate multicultural YA. Throw in some steampunk romance and what’s not to love?
Very much liked all the action and the battles.
Wow, what a book. I loved the suspense and intrigue.
It made me want to read the other 2 books in this series. I enjoyed it.
A must read!
This was a super good read! I loved the characters and that it was original.
A fun weekend read
5 stars for creativity,
It was romantic but good plot!
Loved the main character “Aniri” she drew me into her world. The author gave Anari’s character a down to earth person with genuine feelings about doubt, failure, belonging and then surprises the reader with feats of courage and confidence. Loved the action and enjoyed the fact that it was the female character who was executing dangerous situations.
I enjoyed the mind visual of the land scape; It proported me to a real place ( except for the shashee, which was totally made up.
A great read!
The book is a little long-winded in parts.
Great character development! Kept me turning pages!
If you like historical fiction with fantasy and a touch of romance, you will LOVE this book. Original and very well developed characters as well as rich details which make it easy to visualize this tale as you are reading it combine to make this an excellent read. I highly recommend this book.
I was hoping it would be more like The Far Pavilions but it was not. Pretty fantastical inventions in the story and just a bit hard to believe.
Suspense made this a very different book. You weren’t cut which characters to trust and they were all original. A good read.
The trilogy got repetitive.
Enjoyable on the beach read with whimsical settings and love story.
Very nice writing, but I was not convinced to buy into the fantasy/Indian sci fi aspects of the story. If that’s your thing, you’ll love this book.
