First base: kissing.Second base: above the waist.Third base: below the waist.Home run: no explanation needed.Every baseball player knows to keep their eye on the ball and swing for the fences. Each base counts, but a home run is the goal. No one wants to strike out. This is true both on and off the field.Ellie had been my best friend since we were born, and we had a plan—get out of the tiny … plan—get out of the tiny Alabama town we’d grown up in and go to college…together. But even life’s best-laid plans could throw a powerful curveball. Rather than attend classes, I was now the starting pitcher for a Major League team.
While my game-day stats were impressive, my record with women was less desirable. I was the professional baseball player who hadn’t been able to make it past third base since the one and only night I’d played hardball with my best friend.
When the bottom of the ninth came to a close on my career, I had to decide if our friendship was worth more than a few extra innings.

this was a love story that was just so perfectly written, that i paced myself reading. i didnt want to miss anything when it came to these characters. i have read and enjoyed books by both of these authors and i just knew that when they were to come together that the story would be one that will make my re-read list. and i wasn’t wrong.
the characters were just so perfectly crafted, that this friends-to-lovers story was one that was truly believable. as a reader you are able to get emotionally connected to the characters. so you find yourself going through their ups and downs with them. the love that was built from their friendship was one that grabs your by the heart and doesn’t let you go.
Homerun
Third Base is the “oops, no! We are just friends” book. The “we don’t really feel that way” but we love each other book. We’ve all read them. We’ve all disagreed with the idiots who fight it- I mean, with our beloved characters who fight the natural progression of their relationship.
You will want to shake, shove, and even arm punch these two into submission. Someone needs to help them along. Lol. Good thing they have an amazing person to help them out.
As cliché as it sounds, this duo of authors knocked this one out of the park! This friends to lovers romance begins with a guy and a girl that have been friends since birth….literally. Ellie and Coby are there for each other through some really amazing things, and some really horrible things. They are absolutely amazing friends. The loyalty and love they show each other is unbelievable and the epitamie of a perfect friendship.
This book spans a time frame of about 4 to 5 years, with some earlier flashbacks. College, careers, relationships. This couple deals with it all. Ellie is a stereotypical good southern girl. The very best friend a guy could have. She encourages and looks out for Coby even when he doesn’t look out for himself. Coby is a geek turned jock who never really moved to the jock mindset.
Although the characters have known each other forever, this is definitely more of a slow burn romance. Although the story takes place over an extended period of time, the transitions and story line were smooth and easy to follow. It was a great story, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for a sequel!
Stephie and Leddy created a perfect 1st book as Stella. They work together beautifully and their creation is pretty amazing.
I absolutely love everything about Third Base. I adore Ellie and Coby. My heart even gets a little pitter patter for their secondary character Gage.
Ellie and Coby are hilarious. They have been through every up and down together and have been true to their promise that no one and nothing will come between their friendship.
The story sucks you in from the very beginning. I couldn’t help but laugh at their banter with each other like I was actually sitting next to them. I was rooting for these 2 from the very beginning and truly enjoyed the journey they shared.
Everyone has their very own Ellie and Coby. This story gives us all hope or in some cases a glimpse into what could have been if we weren’t to scared of change.
I must say I’m really glad these 2 met on the street corner in Savannah GA 2 years ago and I’m really excited that the turf war only involved PJ’s and selfie sticks because these 2 brighten the world of reading
4.5 stars.
Ellie and Coby have been best friends from birth. They have this unbreakable bond between them but it’s always been platonic. Both are loners at school so they naturally stick together which further cements their bond. Every detail of their futures includes the other in their life in some capacity but when Coby is offered the chance to play baseball professionally, they both know that could change.
This story is told over several years and it really makes it clear that their relationship is purely platonic. They really are each other’s rocks and nobody, whether they are boyfriend, girlfriend or potential hook up, will get between them and I absolutely loved the friendship these two shared. Together through the highs and lows, they always have the other to depend on.
I loved Ellie. She’s definitely the stronger of the two characters. To be honest I was kinda jealous of Coby. I want a best friend like Ellie!!
Coby is the sweetest. He’s not your typical jock at all. He’s a little nerdy, isn’t overly confident and isn’t a man whore. After overcoming his main problem, it’s devastating for him when injury strikes and he stands to lose everything. I loved Coby. He was everything I didn’t know I wanted.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was everything I hoped it would be. Oh and I need more Gage! I need to know that man a lot better!

Ellie and Coby have been best friends all their lives. They have always had a plan of getting out of their home town and going to college together, but when Coby is offered a job pitching in the major league he takes the chance with Ellie’s blessing. For some reason Ellie and Coby keep everyone else at arms length except each other, will they ever get past third base? What a great story. I loved Coby and how vulnerable he was with Ellie but at the same time so afraid of telling her what was really in his heart. Ellie was so determined and blind at the same time. I love how they were both there supporting the other no matter what. Stella is a great story teller and I loved how she built the tension and then revealed. Excellent book and definitely a must read.
