Think Twice by Stephanie Rose is a contemporary romance told in multiple POVs following four lead characters while simultaneously telling two love stories. Containing the following tropes – friends to lovers, unrequited love, virgin heroine, brother’s best friend, best friend’s little sister, age gap romance, and forbidden love – this story has something for everyone.
Meet the characters:
Jack: a 26-year-old firefighter in a rehab center for physical therapy, PJ’s older brother, Dylan’s best friend since childhood, Danielle’s patient.
PJ (Patricia Jane): an 18-year-old artist about to begin college, Jack’s younger sister, secretly in love with Dylan for most of her life.
Danielle: 24-years-old, Jack’s physical therapist, younger sister to Kyle (Jack’s friend in high school), she had a crush on Jack before moving away with her family right before her high school junior year.
Dylan: a 26-year-old construction company owner and manager, Jack’s life-long childhood best friend, secretly in love with PJ since she turned sixteen and fighting his feelings ever since.
I really enjoyed Think Twice. When I first learned that two love stories would be told side by side, I was intrigued by the idea, but also wondered if it would actually work. And it absolutely did! All the main characters’ lives (except for maybe Danielle’s) were so intertwined which facilitated seamless, contiguous storytelling. The four points of view were woven together brilliantly and the storylines flowed smoothly.
I was completely drawn in and held captivated by the couples and their stories. I fell in love with each character while rooting for Jack & Danielle and PJ & Dylan to overcome obstacles and arrive at their happy endings. Beautiful, creative, unique, and masterfully executed, I highly recommend this sweet, sexy, romantic story. I absolutely loved it!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Heartfelt, unique slow burn romance about 4 people connected by family and love.
This compelling read revealed 2 interconnected stories told in 4 POV.
Well written and well paced, the author seamlessly connected these stories making it a real page turner.
The POV by each of the 4 was created flawlessly, so that the characters had more depth and gave the story a unique perspective.
I truly enjoyed this story.
The characters were unconventional but likable and for me relatable!
I particularly enjoyed that one of the characters was from a little borough in New York City known as the Bronx!
4.5 stars!
Oh-Em-Gee!! Not only did we get a new book from Stephanie Rose, but we got 4 points of view – 2 amazing couples! I could not get enough of this story! I loved how it intertwined and loved seeing Jack all grown up!!
“The passion between us intoxicated me. Dylan was my drug and I wanted to stay high on him forever.”
Is there anything better than a brother/best friend/little sister romance?!? Not that I can think of and I adored watching Dylan and PJ finally give in to their unrequited love.
“You brought me back to life, and for that I’ll always be thankful.”
Sometimes a second chance romance is just as good if not better! Watching Jack come back to life thanks to his therapist, Dani, was incredible!
But having two in the same book was absolutely phenomenal! I seriously could not get enough of this story! It was full of love, romance, sweetness, sexiness, family, and everything in between. (5 stars)
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. This was my first book by Stephanie Rose and I loved it. Why have I never read anything of hers before? This is a story of Jack and Danielle and PJ and Dylan. In essence, you are getting two books in one and each couple has their struggles but they find a way to make it work and they get their HEA. She made them feel real to the reader. You felt their pain and their joy. I love when stories do this to me. I feel like I am there right along with them and I loved it.
I was a little nervous starting this book. I have loved everything that I have read by Stephanie Rose, but I have never read a book with more than two point of views. I should have know Stephanie Rose would be able to make me love it! I couldn’t put down this wonderful book.
I absolutely adored both couples, Danielle & Jack and PJ & Dylan! Some great chemistry & banter throughout the whole book! I loved that both couples had their own struggles and their own paths that they had to follow to get where they were meant to be. The journeys both couples took were woven together beautifully.
I can’t wait for more by Stephanie Rose!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
This author has come a long way since her debut book and her writing only gets better and better. This story about these two couples was incredible. We met PJ and Jack in after you and I’m glad they got their own story. This 4 POV book was done incredibly and it came out even better. At first I was a little nervous and was going to make this book last a few days but I couldn’t stop reading after the first chapter. I’m thrilled for whatever this author publishes next.
Think Twice was a twofer special in that you got two stories in one book! Four POVs! Awesome! Two siblings! Two childhood friends! Twice the romance! Should have gotten twice the stars but they won’t let us do that!!
Jack’s in rehab, depressed, lonely, doesn’t know what he’ll do if he can’t go back to work. Danielle, his physical therapist, had a crush on him way back in school and now is wary of men because of what her ex did to her. Jack had a bad experience with his ex, too. As they work together, get hot and heavy in the storage closet, and meet for “candy dates,” they grow closer and let their guards down around each other. But is what they have just a fling to pass the time in rehab, or is it for real? Both of them worry and run scared.
Patricia (Penut, or PJ) is Jack’s younger sister and has crushed on his best friend Dylan since she was a little girl. He is 8 years older than her and is like a member of their family. Their relationship is taboo and forbidden in so many ways. Their mothers are like sisters. This is another love story in a totally different perspective that captivates you right from the beginning.
The way Stephanie Rose weaves these two tales around each other is nothing short of amazing. I can’t believe I have never read anything by her before but that ends now! I am going to back up and read PJ’s parent’s story, After You!
4.5 Stars
I’m going to be honest here for a minute. I wasn’t sure how this book would play out due to it being two stories about two different couples. Would it be messy in the sense of it being too jumbled? Would it be confusing jumping from one couple to the next? And the answer is a resounding no. The four POV’s instead of two, worked smoothly. Ms. Rose did an outstanding job, the writing and storylines flowed seamlessly.
Think Twice revolves around siblings, PJ and Jack, Jack’s best friend Dylan and Danielle. It’s about them navigating towards their HEA’s.
From a young age, PJ has had a crush on Dylan, her brothers best friend. Though he’s older and forbidden she doesn’t care, she can’t help how she feels. When she confesses her feelings to Dylan, it’s not the reaction she hoped for. Dylan knows that having feelings for his best friends younger sister is a recipe for disaster. He’s tried to stay away, but what he feels for PJ is too strong. He knows there are obstacles to overcome, but PJ is worth it and is all that matters. Dylan and PJ were adorable together. At one point it wasn’t easy, but in the end what they went through was worth it.
Jack isn’t in a good place. After an accident at work, he’s hurt pretty badly and needs rehab. And at therapy is where he meets Danielle, his physical therapist. The attraction between Jack and Danielle is undeniable. It’s obvious they have feelings for each other, but every time Jack starts to get close, Danielle shuts down. It’s not only because it isn’t ethical, with Jack being Danielle’s patient, but it’s also because of Dannielle’s past. And what she’s starting to feel for Jack scares her, and not necessarily in a bad way. I loved Jack and Danielle’s banter. They were sweet and sexy and I couldn’t get enough of them.
The multiple perspectives in Think Twice were well written. The reader gets to experience all the emotions from the individual character as well as the set of couples together. Think Twice was an enjoyable read that left me smiling all the way to the end.
At eighteen, PJ was full of dreams. She was on her way to becoming a serious artist and moving across the country, away from the unrequited, tortured dream of her much older brother’s irresistible best friend, Dylan. But when she forced herself to let that dream go, she never expected it to bounce back and refuse to let her.

When your heart is warring with your head, there’s no time to Think Twice.
This book was very well written especially since it was about 2 couples, Ellie & Nick & Jack & Danielle. Both stories flowed flawlessly and was beautifully written. Both couples journey’s were not easy and I loved reading their journeys! Highly recommend!
In case you were wondering, Stephanie can write a love story. In fact, in this book, you get two for the price of one!
Awesome deal!
Going in, I did wonder if it would be a bit confusing. I’m happy to report it wasn’t confusing at all. This storyline flowed very nicely with no inconsistencies to confuse me.
Jack was recently injured and goes into in-house therapy… where he meets Danielle (again). And they fall into friendship and then lust. What starts off as working relationship turns into late night chats over shared candy bars.
Jack’s (younger by 8 years) sister, PJ aka Patricia, has been in love with his best friend, Dylan, since she was nine. Even though she’s 18, she knows Dylan is the one for her. But guess what???? Dylan is also secretly in love with PJ.
The real question now is how do they fall in love? Are they accepted by other family members? Is it lasting love?
I highly recommend checking out this two in one romance story. You’ll fall in love with the characters just like I did.
This book contains the stories of two different couples.
PJ and Dylan… He is the brother’s best friend and she’s been in love with him for years. After admitting her feelings nd being rejected, she’s ready to move on but Dylan has a change of heart and wants to win her heart.
Jack and Dannielle.
He’s hurt on the job and she ends up being his physical therapist. As much as Jack tries Danielle refuses to open up. He’s only with her for a short time before he goes back to his life. Will she go with him???
I loved that there were 4 different points of view. It flowed so well from one character to the next, it wasn’t choppy or confusing at all. I can’t wait for what’s next.
I loved Stephanie Rose’s Second Chances series. To get a story based on one of the kids from that series? Fantastic. To get a story on two of those kids? Utterly amazing.
Jack Taylor’s struggle is real. His frustration and determination to heal was evident. Dani Marsh has been humiliated in the worst way. Following them through the physical and emotional pain was hard but they are so good for each other you only want the best for them. Their banter was sweet and sexy. The attraction undeniable.
PJ Garcia is sweet. I loved her spunk. Her unrequited love for her brother’s best friend though was sad. Dylan Matthews is Jack’s best friend. Holding back his feelings for PJ felt like torture. But his respect for not only her, but her family as well, was admirable. Giving in and figuring out a way to make it work wasn’t going to be easy.
Their stories were woven together flawlessly. The multiple perspectives were uniquely written to see all sides and experience the varying emotions. There are cameos from favorite characters and that small town feel even though it’s based in New York City. Think Twice is a charming romance with a side of life, family and healing.
This book was so perfect! I love reading about kids from previous books, because it brings everything full circle. And not only do you get one kid, you siblings (and the best friend).
I wasn’t sure how this book would play out due to it being two stories about two different couples, and they are inter-related. However, this book was perfectly written with two beautiful stories. I flew through this book.
Falling in love with your best friends sister happens all of the time, but not like this. PJ and Dylan have so much love for each other. I adored their story. Do I think they should have handled their situation differently??? Probably. But it didn’t mean they don’t love each other, and that was extremely visible.
Then you have Danielle and Jack. Just reading about Jack being an adult made me sad and extremely happy at the same time. It was so beautifully written as well. This storyline was sublime, and I’m glad these two had a story to tell. I can’t give away anything because then I could ruin two plotlines, and I’m not doing that.
There is always some angst or drama, but I’m so glad this story was written. Even if you don’t know these characters, it would not affect your reading abilities at all. Promise… And this book is definitely a one-click. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author.
A couple of months ago, I binged the Second Chances series and absolutely fell in love with Nick and Ellie and their kids. Fast forward and those kids are old enough for their own HEAs and I couldn’t have been more excited when I saw who this book would be about.
At the end of After You, I was clamoring for Jack’s story. And man, did Think Twice absolutely deliver. Told from all four main characters’ POVs, I was completely drawn in and couldn’t stop reading once I started. I loved the angst, the romance, the forbidden relationships between these four. I swooned so hard I thought I would pass out.
I am so in love with all of the characters of this interconnected series. I can’t wait to visit them again!!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
Jack, an injured firefighter, is mad at himself & the world for being stuck in rehab until his leg heals. After his girlfriend dumps him, he wants to work as hard as he can to get back to work. When he meets his physical therapist, Danielle, his mood brightens a bit after recognizing her as the sister of his high school friend. From there the lines of friendship into something more start to blur. Dani has personal baggage that she keeps from Jack, and being a professional she knows she should keep her distance. And Jack isn’t one to give up.
PJ, Jack’s little sister, has finally turned 18 & is getting ready for college. Determined to forget her crush to Jack’s best friend Dylan, she hopes going to college far away will be enough to finally move on. Having Jack’s family embrace him as one of their own, Dylan knows nothing can happen between him and PJ. He’s known her since she was a baby, & he’s also 8 years older than her. But after seeing her at a club dancing & getting close to one of her guy friends, he knows he can’t hide his feelings anymore.
Two love stories in one book. Jack & PJ are Ellie & Nick’s kids from After You (does not need to be read but highly recommend it because it was an amazing book!) and both are struggling with their own issues. Both are taking risks to be with the ones they want to be with. This was written so well and with 4 POV’s I loved seeing how they were all thinking & feeling. Another great read and looking forward to the next book!
It’s no secret that Stephanie Rose is a go-to author for me. And all of her characters have become like family to me and I love that many of them overlap into her new stories, or make cameos throughout (yes, I am talking about Evan, in particular- THANK YOU, STEPHANIE!!).
Think Twice actually follows two couples- Ellie and Nick’s children from After You. Jack was injured in a fall during a fire call, and needs to do rehabilitation on his leg, and this is where he runs into Danielle, who happens to be his physical therapist as well as his childhood friend’s little sister. Meanwhile, PJ has had a crush on Jack’s best friend, Dylan, since she was little. After turning eighteen, they begin to explore their feelings for one another, knowing fully that her parents and brother won’t be happy.
I absolutely loved all these characters! I loved how determined Jack was to heal, and I loved how Dani pushed him further. I loved how protective Dylan was, and how he wanted what was best for PJ. And PJ was quite mature for her age. I also loved Nick and Ellie (well, I already loved them) and the interaction they had with Jack, PJ, and Dylan.
Both of these storylines had been introduced previously (Book + Main and a short story in an anthology), but were developed into more. So much more! She did a phenomenal job of weaving new and original elements into this plot, and combining two different stories into one (that, in itself, is amazing to me- I can’t imagine the work needed to accomplish that!)
Think Twice is a book that I will most certainly read again and again~ I highly recommend it!! Oh, and I’m hoping that the couple of characters at the end mean that we’ll be getting more…
Think Twice was a fantastic read following 2 couples….Dylan & PJ and Jack & Danielle. Both had their own story, but were interconnected. Each couples journey was well developed and had just the right mix of emotion, heat, and angst. Stephanie is an excellent story teller and with each new read I fall more in love with her characters and the worlds she creates.
4.5 Sweet New Beginnings Stars!
I was so excited to find out more about Jack and PJ, the kids I first met, and fell in love with, in After You, now that they are adults. Jack was the adorable little boy who grew into a kind, thoughtful and brave young man, who was excited to become a firefighter like his dad. Pj was petite and feisty and adored her big brother just as much as he loved and protected her. Now several years later, PJ is going off to college and Jack has suffered a life altering accident. He was injured in an accident while fighting a fire and faces the real possibility that he might never return to his dream job, and he is taking it out on all his loved ones. That is until an old friend comes back into his life, bringing hope and love with her. His Physical Therapist, Danielle, is the younger sister of an old friend, and has grown into a beautiful woman inside and out. They have an instant connection and their chemistry grows hotter every day. But Danielle has been burned before and holds herself back not willing to start something with her patient. But Jack is a charmer, and very persuasive, and is determined to not only get his job back, but to also show Danielle that they are perfect for each other.
while Jack is working toward beginning his new life, PJ is running away from hers. She has had a crush on her brothers best friend that has grown into much more. She considers moving away but loves her family too much to leave. Dylan has had strong feelings for PJ that grew stronger the older and more mature she became. Now the time is right for him to let her know that she has always been it for him too. But her dad and Jack are so overprotective, Dylan and PJ find it hard to open up and cause problems with their close knit family. But keeping secrets might just ruin what they have and hurt everyone they love even more. Ms. Rose expertly and exquisitely portrayed life with all it’s complications, joy, heartbreak, and pleasure. I loved all the authentic emotions she made me feel in this sweet story of love, healing, family, hope, and beginning life again. This is a beautifully crafted love story that will capture your heart!
So this is my first book I am reading from Author Stephanie Rose & I totally loved it!
First, the fact that this book is written in multiple points of view of each character ( 4 POV) and that the story stayed consistent and flowed well while reading is A+ in my book!
The whole book had me hooked into this world Author Stephanie Rose created.
I was entertained into Jack, Dani, PJ and Dylan’s stories.
I liked how real and emotional their lives were.
Forbidden love, falling for your brothers friend, loving so hard it hurts and finding oneself is all in this book.
All relatable and all heart warming to the point I may have sniffled a bit at parts because my softy heart couldn’t hold back. It was done so well.
Go grab this book & fall into the lives of these beautifully written characters.

4 Stars!
This book tells the story of two separate couples which I found to be extremely unique. It’s told from four different POV’s and follows the lives of Jack Taylor and his younger sister PJ Garcia. Both stories are a brother’s best friend romance, and have that forbidden element. I really enjoyed this fantastic book about true love and new beginnings.
PJ Garcia is about to turn 18. She lives in the Bronx and has a wonderful close family and great friends. What she doesn’t have is that special someone in her life. She’s crushed on her brothers best friend Dylan Matthews for as long as she can remember. He lived across the street and lately seemed to be everywhere she turned. She’s planning to go away to college and try and move on. She wanted heart stopping passion and wouldn’t be denied any longer. She wanted a man who would fight for her. She’s tired of loving someone she can’t have, or can she?
Jack Taylor is a fire fighter in New York that is injured on duty, and is lucky to be alive. After surgery he arrives for therapy at the best facility in the state. He’s lost everything and is so frustrated and angry he can hardly see straight. He has a long road ahead of him and is shocked to see a familiar friendly face. Danielle Marsh is his new physical therapist, and also someone he knew as a kid. The shy, sweet little Dani is all grown up and gorgeous. Before he realizes it boundaries are crossed, and the personal/professional lines are blurring as he becomes more attached to her. Somewhere along the way she is more than just his therapist. They shared a strong connection, and he didn’t want things to end between them once he was back on his feet. He came there broken, and she was making him feel whole again. She believed in him, and gave him hope, but could he convince her to give him a chance at something real and lasting, and believe in forever again?
