Stubborn, mule-headed, independent woman! She’d take that as a compliment…Maggie Dalton has no need for a man in her life. Widowed more than ten years, she’s built a successful business and managed quite well on her own in the bustling town of Baker City, Oregon. Aggravated by her inability to block thoughts of the handsome lumber mill owner from her mind, she renews her determination to resist … mind, she renews her determination to resist his attempts at friendship.
Full of Scottish charm and mischief, Ian MacGregor could claim any available woman in Baker City as his own, except the enchanting dress shop owner who continues to ignore him. Not one to give up on what he wants, Ian vows to win Maggie’s heart or leave the town he’s come to love.

Cute romance!
3.5 average romance.
I really liked she did not let the men push her around and had a mind of her own.
Good characters and story.
Great book
Okay. Unrealistic. The h had been mourning her dead husband for 10 yrs and never planned to marry again or even become involved with a man.
Very cute story, well writtin
Good story. Somewhat predictable but I enjoyed the the journey with the H and h.
I liked the hero a lot. The heroine was too difficult to deal with. He deserved better
I loved this book. It was a very good read and it was a free book
3 stars Predictable and a bit frustrating because the heroine was of the too-stupid-to-live variety as well as too stupid for love.
boring
Love the Baker City Brides and their handsome husbands! Read one after another and sorry the series ended!
I loved the camaraderie between the characters. The plot was very good. It is a very well written and I enjoyed this very much.
A quick clean romance with some fun things thrown in. Enjoyed it very much
I really enjoyed this book. It’s an original story. I’ll read more by this author.
The entire series moves you from one event to another
Shanna Hatfield has my attention a second time in this fabulous story of Maggie and Ian who just keeps trying to win Maggie’s heart.
This is a great romance story of the times when a women lost her first husband and vows not to marry again. Ian suffered for two years waiting for Maggie to even recognize him. This is a smart, funny, witty, twists and turns, yes and no’s and so many elements to this story that she keeps going and made me read without putting it down unless I just was so tired that I fell asleep.
She creates characters that are real and proper yet witty, sarcastic, funny and you just end up loving every single one of the characters in the story. She also puts in a lot of the first book where Jemma and Thane are friends with Maggie and Ian and Tully the sheriff and they mix it up in ways that can make you just laugh out loud and smile widely as it is so amazing amusing you can’t help it.
I highly recommend this story and if you didn’t read Crumpets and Cowpies, read that first then come to this one and you will love them both.
Shanna is an awesome author of historical western romance and is one not to miss.
It was a bit predictable. I stopped reading it at one point because I knew how it was likely to end, then picked it back up and finished it later. There was one curveball thrown in, but overall I was right. It passed the time though.
No surprises. Pretty typical of olden day romance books.
