Lexi Blake’s writing is simply phenomenal. The world-building and attention to detail puts her in a category of her own. Her heroines are smart and strong, her heroes are hot, witty, and heart-meltingly protective. If you love paranormal romances, check out this series. It’s amazing!
I was craving some paranormal romance (PNR) lately. I read a lot of romance books and putting some PNR into the mix helps break it up and keep it fresh. Also, I just love taking an escape into a world that is completely different. Whether it’s vampires, werewolves, fairy, gods, devils, and anything in between, I’ll read it all.
This series by Lexi Blake has so much going for it. It’s humorous, heart-wrenching, angsty, action packed, and full of so many other emotions that it’s the true definition of a roller coaster book. I look forward to diving into the rest of the series where a new heroine takes center stage.
The relationship that evolves between Zoey, Daniel, and Dev was my favorite part of these books. Yes, I loved the action and all of that stuff but this thing between those 3 was what drew me in. It started out as a love triangle and became so much more. I never really rooted for one or the other guys because they both had something with her that I liked.
The only reason I didn’t give this bundle 5 stars was because of the fact that there was too much sex scenes for me. I do like that in my romance books but to many can really be an overkill. Then there was the fact that sometimes their problem solving skill was sex. It magically made everything ok. I didn’t buy that and I would have liked it to be solved another way.
Even though I had a couple issues with this, I still think you should give them a try. Lexi does a fantastic job at world building, story flow, engaging scenes, and drawing her audience in. I’m glad I read these books and they did fill that need I had for a good PNR story.
Supernatural and good
I liked this story about vampires, faeries, demons and angels. It was a little slow in the beginning but it soon got very interesting and engaging.
The characters is well described and they each have their flaws.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Dialogues that defines the characters
What I liked the most was that it was not filled with love scenes but rather more action and plotting.
A solid 4 stars for this series
taking off kindle and cloud it was so bad.
Zoey Wharton makes it a habit to steal paranormal artifacts, ans she’ got a crew that includes a vampire, a werewolf and a witch who all have their own special skills. But her knack for getting into trouble seems to be her downfall.
Book 1:
A car crash kills the love of her life, and leaves her heartbroken. Until he returns as a vampire. He might be her protector and seem cold hearted, but there’s more to him than anyone knows.
Zoey and Daniel were childhood sweethearts until a violent car crash took his life and left her shattered. When Daniel returned from the grave as a vampire, his only interest in Zoey was in keeping her safely apart from the secrets of his dark world. He has vowed to protect her, but his heart seems as cold as the night he calls home.
When she contracts for a job for Lucas Halfer to steal the Light of Alhorra, her life is thrown into turmoil and her friend and love life pay the cost. While her heart longs for the love she shared with Daniel, Devinshea Quin, a faery prince becomes the rescuer she needs when she fears Daniel is lost to her. And there are secrets Dev holds that take her to heights she never realized she could go.
What is it that makes her alluring not only to the vampire world but to other paranormals? And what must she do to save her friend from Lucas Halfer without sacrificing her own life? Can she make a life now without Daniel? Dev is just a passing phase, something to do while she figures out what comes next. Or is he?
I enjoyed the conflict between Zoey, Daniel and Dev, and the storyline is a good one. It’s interesting and entertaining. However, the writing threw me off a bit. The characters weren’t as developed as they should have been. Many times, they were childish, more like teenagers than adults. That was probably the biggest turn off. On the other hand, there were moments that were heartbreaking and others that were exciting. And the story held my attention enough to want to know what happens next.
Book 2:
Again, Zoey heads into another situation like a bull in a china shop. She wants to rescue her friend from Lucas Halfer’s clutches, and that means going to hell to do it. But one does not simply traipse in and take people back. She needs an artifact called The Revelation to get in an out with her life intact. As she works on her half-baked plan, she also has to consider her feelings not only for Daniel but the ones developing for Dev, feeling she never expected or wanted. Being the vampire king’s wife has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages. And how will she get these men to agree on more than what they need because she can’t accomplish her job without them? With Daniel almost losing his life, she finds her feelings once again in a tug of war. How will she resolve the love she has for both of them? And how will she choose?
Once again, I was enthralled by the story. It is a good one. But it seems the entire paranormal world is run by adolescents trying to “one up” each other. With Zoey knowing her place in the hierarchy, I expected her to behave a bit more maturely than she did in this second book. I think because of the way Zoey was written, as a spoiled brat who had no idea what the meaning of love was but threw the word around like she did, I won’t be buying the subsequent books in the series.
Spoiler Alert: There’s one moment that ruined the heroine for me. Daniel and Dev were arguing as was their norm. And Zoey stuck her nose in to defend whenever she saw fit. But when Dev brought up the fact that he could give Zoey children and Daniel couldn’t, my heart broke for the vampire king. And the character was written with the pain of that jab to his pride. Had it been me, I would have probably slapped Dev, given him my two cents’ worth over his low blow, and walked away. I mean… what an ass, and what a cruel thing to say! But did Zoey say anything to defend her husband? No. She spent most of the book defending Dev while Daniel was doing his best to try to show her he did feel love for her. I thought she spent too much time belittling Daniel to protect Dev’s feelings. Those were the moments that made me sick. Had I not liked the story so much, I would have given it one star just for the childishness of the main character. I love a good strong female lead, but I thought Zoey needed a spanking and to be sent to her room without any privileges. If she’s going to act childish, she should be punished like a child.
The entire series was great, but does the story continue? I need closure
Not since the Sookie Stackhouse novels have I been able to suspend my disbelief and delve into a series chock full of vampires, werewolves and fae (oh my)! Left me salivating for more!!
Steal The Light
Zoey Wharton, Daniel Donovan the vampire, Neil the werewolf, Dev the Faery Prince, Sarah the witchZoey Wharton and her rag tag team of thieves; Daniel the vampire, Neil the werewolf, Dev the Faery Prince, Sarah the witch take on the job of obtaining the Light of Allhorra. What Zoey doesn’t realuze is that her contract is with a demon of the Hell plane. If she is unable to fulfill the contract….well let’s just say she’ll be screwed. Zoey and her team battle demons, shifters, other vampures, halflings and faeries in their attempt to procure the Light. Daniel and Zoey’s tenuous relationship is tested more than once. They become each other’s saviors and Daniel continues to protect Zoey in every way possible.
In Steal The Day Zoey is determined, with her team’s help, to rescue Sarah from the Hell plane and Halfer’s clutches. Added to that she’s been hired to rescue Felix Day, an angel, of the Heaven plane. Daniel, Dev and Zoey begin navigating Vampire politics as Dev becomes Daniel’s advisor, a role he’d been groomed for in the Court of the Faery. The men have to play nice and learn to do more than tolerate each other as Zoey realizes she loves them both. The threesome are beyond powerful and together thet may thwart the darkness planned by some of the Vampire Council.
In typical Lexi fashion there are snippets of humor interspersed throughout the story that bring a chuckle. Her Vampire/Supernatural world is dotted with fascinating creatures and stories.
Not into threesome issue, sorry!
It was a good book for what it was.
Did a big diatribe about authors rights. Then writes a series glorifying thieves. So bad and a boring turn off. Only made it four pages. Pick one. Like thieves or people who enjoy sharing books.
Once I finished the first book I couldn’t wait to begin the next. I am on book 3 right now and it’s hard to put down.
loved the whole series ..read the first and had to get the rest!
This set was great! I am looking forward to the rest!
Slightly different way of producing vampires. Started feeling like Anita Blake books(which I like).
I loved these books. The kind of friendships that pull witches, vampires, werewolves, elves, and demons together to do business, even at the threat of losing their souls to an eternity in hell, always make for interesting stories. If I were her, I might not be able to choose between the 2 loves of my life, either!
Okay so this book got me! Usually I get the free ones and do not but more. But I am on the third book and pray more are on Ebook! These were steamy yet had a story line and plot that fascinated me! Too often they are just sex books, but not these. Highly recommend!
The quirky plot and characters group appealed to me and , in the first book I enjoyed the character and plot development. Although book two was just as good it was as the author had subscribed to ‘sex sells’ and, for me, more time was spent describing the sex scenes than I really wanted – after all when you have too much of a good thing it becomes boring! I won’t be reading book three, which is a shame as I would like to know what happens to the characters when,or if, they finally get around to carrying the plot planned in book two.
