Fans of fantasy will fall in love with this world of thieves, magic, and adventure. This novel is the starting point for the epic Starside Saga.

Hard to put down and continuing plot twists through the series. Waiting on the next book. The author is not afraid of making the characters live real lives and all that entails. Kudos.
This is a great Young Adult Science Fiction book. You will want to read the previous books in the series first.
This is a wonderful little story I think all ages can enjoy. I downloaded it from a book funnel offer but took me awhile to get to it from my TBR pile. However, I wish I would have done it sooner because it was short enough to devour in one sitting. Kila is a young girl desperate to take care of her ill brother. Being homeless, she has had to resort to becoming a thief. But she has a unique gift of sight that helps in her thieving adventures. This story was very well written, scenes were well described and characters well developed. This would have been difficult given the uniqueness of this story, however, Mr. Edstrom did a great job of helping the reader understand and envision it through his eyes.
great story–good characters, well paced action, and not really a cliff hanger to get you to buy another book in the series. Which, I would totally do….
Good book with an interesting plot line. It is relatively often used ideas but presented in a novel way.
My first read from author Eric Kent Edstrom. The author has created a world that is obviously built for the long haul, with developed, memorable characters that you want to see grow and develop further. The only problem with this work is its shortness, I want more and I want it now. I’ll just have to wait for The Raven’s Dream.
This was an original story. I loved it. I love cats and this story was an awesome take on the human / cat bond. I want to read more!
The first book of a six-part saga introduces us to the Kila Sigh and her brother Wen. They are orphaned and poor, so they survive by thieving on the street. Kila, who is beginning to display a magical power, finds herself busy stealing for food, rent, and medicine. Her life becomes more complicated with the introduction of cats and a couple of street urchins.
This part of the saga really just introduces the characters, and begins to develop the plot. There is a lot of action throughout the short novel. The author was able to capture the personality of cats rather well and has established strong individual personality for the cats who will remain characters in the story.
I can see this being a decent fantasy for young adult readers.
An entertaining read and clever idea with the cats. I enjoyed it right up to the *too early* conclusion which was a little abrupt after setting up some big drama. Looking at the next book, I see it is also short…200 pages or so. I have been here before…sucked into paying for book after book of novellas rather than novels, so will see if the library carries the rest of this series.
A slow read, I personally had trouble getting onto the characters. It worth the time to read it.
Hard to read. Lots of new words.
Good story flow and well painted scenes but not much character development. Ok light read but I’m not sure I’ll be inclined to follow series to conclusion.
