Big Al’s Books & Pal’s 2015 Readers’ Choice Award Winner“Fried Green Tomatoes meets Dolores Claiborne. This character-rich southern gothic-esque tale will keep you guessing up to the very end.” – NYT Bestselling Author Kate MorettiCass Adams is crazy, and everyone in Deacon, Kansas, knows it. But when her good-for-nothing husband, Roland, goes missing, no one suspects that Cass buried him in … Cass buried him in their unfinished koi pond. Too bad he doesn’t stay there for long. Cass gets arrested on the banks of the Spring River for dumping his corpse after heavy rain partially unearths it.
The police chief wants a quick verdict—he’s running for sheriff and has no time for crazy talk. But like Roland’s corpse, secrets start to surface, and they bring more to light than anybody expected. Everyone in Cass’s life thinks they know her—her psychic grandmother, her promiscuous ex-best friend, her worm-farming brother-in-law, and maybe even her local ghost. But after years of separate silences, no one knows the whole truth. Except Roland. And he’s not talking.

Cass buries her husband. It’s hard work, but it has to be done; she killed him.
Or did she? this is the question that powers this book forward. Each character tells the story from his or her own perspective. There is a love story and one of loss, of jealousy and of revenge.
I powered through this book myself, stopping only to eat dinner with …

Cass Adams gets arrested for the murder of her husband Roland. She was caught at night, covered in mud, trying to dump her husband in the river. Seems like a cut-and-dried case. But is it?
“There is nothing easy about burying your husband.” This sounds like a simple enough opening sentence. …
They Call Me Crazy is filled with dysfunctional characters, and Gamble develops each of them fully so by the end of the story, you understand their motives and can appreciate the twist and turns in the story. It has enough humor to move it toward “The Gazebo” type of murder rather than “Fargo.”
The first two pages tell you everything about how the rest of this book will go. Apropos Title!
Everyone has a crutch to cope with life and this author could have gone with the obvious ones; however, she came up with some pretty unique ones.
This book is a winner with its clever, quirky and colorful prose. You’ll enjoy every page!
I was so engross with the characters through out the whole book . I did not want it to end . It was like the author felt the same way . It was one of the best ending . It went into detail that was very satisfying.
Could not put this down!
I enjoyed the characters and the story development. By the third chapter I couldn’t put it down.
I learned about this book from T.N. Traynor’s blog. Knowing that main character Cass would be accused of murdering her husband, I was completely drawn in by the first two lines of the story: “There is nothing easy about burying your husband. From the moment he drops to the ground to that last shovelful of dirt, the entire process is weakening.” …
The locale of this book was in an area near where I live, so it grabbed my interest immediately. Then, the characters were so interesting and the plot kept me turning the pages (and a twist at the end).
Cassie is crazy, isn’t she? She’s also killed her philandering husband, hasn’t she?
Hot diggity but I loved this book! From page 1 to the end I simply couldn’t put it down. It is by far the best book I’ve read in 2020!
Set in Kansas there is a husky, drawl to the language, things are said that just kept me smiling, such as: “They say the last …
What an amazing twist! Kept me engaged to the very end.
It is a good, light read. I really liked the characters in the book as well.
Very well written. I enjoyed it
NEVER new what to expect next. Kept me on edge. Incredible story.
This book is an unusual read. It took me a few chapters to understand the characters. I did enjoy the book and think others will too.
I truly loved this book. Started reading it with no idea where it would take me, but so glad I did. It was a little unexpected, but well worth the read. In fact, I read the other two books that followed this one, one right after the other. I was sad to see them end.
Enjoyed it…
I would give this book a 14 or higher if I could LOL it was great.
Interesting story line that kept me reading.
The twists that this author throws in every chapter kept me up until I finished this book, what a great ending!!
