Anyone that loves the pioneer days of our country’s history will really enjoy this story.
Excellent character development and very interesting storyline. I highly recommend
this book as I could hardly put it down and
was sad to leave the characters when it was finished.
Just a wonderful book. I enjoyed every page!
One of the best books I have ever read!
A excellent book!
A realistic view of traveling across the southern USA and settling in the Arizona territory. Loved the story, felt like I was traveling along with them. Also, read the sequel Sarah’s Quilt. Sorry to see the story end!
One of my favorites. Highly recommend. There is a lot of violence, prejudice, ignorance, and death, which you would expect in a story about settling the west. The author has done extended research and told an excellent story.
Seems reflective of 120 or so years ago. Will definitely read the sequel.
Wonderful characters and fast moving. Could not put it down, read all through the night just to see what happens to the characters. Can’t say enough good things about it.
A wonderful look at life on the frontier from a female perspective!
I said that it was a tear jerker but that was only at the end. I found it interesting as to how people lived back in the early west. It was pleasant to read even if it was a tad unrealistic it was still good.
I was concerned that the dialogue would be distracting, but I soon adjusted. Nice slice of frontier wagon train and ranch life. It takes the reader from the main character’s teen years to adulthood, motherhood, on to middle age. Sarah, was strong, capable, and inspiring throughout.
Draws you into the life of a young woman in the 1880’s as she travels to Arizona Territory, marries and makes a life for herself. As I read of Sarah’s days, I can see my great-grandmother making the same journey.
Historical context is great, historical details a bit questionable. Sweet book if you don’t need much complexity.
I enjoyed this book because the story revealed how life was in our early history. I highly recommend a great read.
Excellent book. If you enjoyed it, you also need to read Sarah’s Quilt and The Star Garden, sequels to These Is My Words. A wonderful day series.
Excellent journal that matures as the character does.
Beautiful true story.
It was amazing. It should be a movie along with it’s sequel.
One of the best books I’ve read this year, and in a genre that I don’t usually read. Even though it is written in diary form, it does not read like a diary. It draws you in.
