Historical writing at its best. Structured as a daily journal, you will not believe you are reading fiction. Gives new meaning to the expression “true grit”. Painstaking research at every level. Absolutely wonderful read.
I found this book both funny and touching. It is written in a refreshing style that fits the characters. I enjoyed the book more than any that I have read recently.
I loved it so much I read all of her books!!!
I was enthralled by this story of a pioneer woman in the Arizona Territories. I had trouble putting it down as it was a story of true grit. Faced with rough country, Indians, soldiers, outlaws and more Sarah thrives. She is a hero of the time.
I loved this book! Was only going to give it four stars because the story is a bit predictable, but I’m still thinking about and enjoying the story two weeks after finishing the book! It’s the kind of story you just don’t want to end. Read it!
Interesting read.
Gripping saga that makes it impossible to put down. Hated to get to the end.
Liked the characters and description of life in this setting
I love a good story with determined characters and this one is great. Family responsibility is never shirked by the main characters and they find that hard work is just that, and don’t complain. The old west is the setting with all of its difficulties the folks carry on and hope for the best. I didn’t want it to end and have thought about it …
I highly recommend this delightful book. I loved the riveting story of the families. I loved the in-depth story of the families. I like stories of multi-generations and that’s what this wonderful book has. You won’t be disappointed in this lengthy story/ Yellow Rose.
I couldn’t put this book down !!! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction !!
I would read this book over and over. You could certainly get into the lives of the characters. Made me appreciate the hardships that so many pioneers endured to make the west what it is. I can’t recommend this book enough. Wonderful reading.
You actually felt as though you were there. Very realistic with a little history thrown in as well. Great read!
a great journey told from a wry and inspiring point of view
Absolutely loved it from start to finish.
I really feel like I know what it was like to be a frontier women.
Best book I’ve read all year!
I wasn’t sure about this story in the beginning, thinking I might not like a western-themed book, but boy, was I wrong! I LOVED this story and didn’t want it to end. I immediately bought the next book. I couldn’t stop reading. I wanted to be in that world with the strong female lead. You won’t be disappointed. Well-written.
Really enjoyed this book. Liked the place and time and written in first person
If you love character and voice driven historical fiction with badass female protagonists— well, snatch this up Right Now! Loved this book and was sad when it ended.
There are too many things I could say about this book, but this is a yearly re-read for me. The journal of a frontier woman in late 19th-early 20th century western America, These Is My Words shows how Sarah Agnes Prine grows and changes as she struggles her way through a whole new life. This story is well-written and unputdownable.
I loved the realistic look at the people who came west and what they had to deal with – yet the main character was able to just deal with it all day to day and keep a level attitude. It covered much of her life and kept me turning pages.
