I loved this book! Lady Angel has to complete a mission to receive her inheritance. When she meets the nephew of the lady she is to be a companion to,sparks fly! The interactions between her and Mr. Reuben Hunter are electric, they don’t trust each other at first! Watch the sparks! Can’t wait to see what her siblings get into!
Lady Angel and her siblings were given tasks to complete within two months by their maternal grandfather in order to gain their inheritance. Angel was tasked with being companion to Mrs. Stone. Free spirited flirtatious Angel expects to be bored away from the ton and her pursuit of the Duke of Norwick in the middle of country, but instead she finds Mrs. Stone to be a daft, but fun loving elderly lady and her nephew Reuben to be oh so desirable. Rueben wonders why a Marquis’ daughter would lower herself to be a companion and thinks like their dastardly neighbor that she’s after his aunt’s money. But the more time he spends with Angel, the more he realizes that there’s more to her and that she has a compassionate heart ready to defend his aunt against all possible threats including himself. This was a light hearted Regency romance with plenty of humor. I can’t wait to read the other siblings’ stories.
This was a lesson on rich people lol. They need to do their own task to get at their inheritance. Angel needs to be a companion to an elderly lady. She thinks this is the worst job she will have. Elderly people can be very unique and Angel will find this out first hand. With the added complication of this elderly lady’s grandson thrown into the mix. This was an on the edge of your seat funny read!
There Are Plenty More Dukes in the Sea by Samantha Holt. If you’re looking for a quick read that’s sure to make you smile this one is it. I like the characters and flow of the plot. My free opinion. Thanks.

This is a light-hearted tale about a grandfather who sets a task for each of his grandchildren in order they may inherit. This first book is about the youngest who has to get a job. Lady Angel learns a lot about herself and being responsible for someone else. Mr. Hunter, Mrs. Stone’s nephew, distrusts the reputation of Lady Angel and learns that you can’t judge a person by the gossips. Can’t wait to read the other books in the series.
I liked this story about Angel and Ruben. It was a nice story with well defined characters and a good plot. In order to get her inheritance she has complete a task. She becomes the companion to Mrs. Stone, and meets Reuben. kept me interested and wanted more.

Rueben meets Angel who is the new companion for his aunt. Her reputation precedes her in that she is impulsive. The more he gets to know her the more he realizes he’s mistaken. Loved this book!

This is amusing, interesting and romantic. Reuben is impulsive, stubborn, caring and protective. Angel is bold, flirty, carefree and cheeky. She was tasked by her grandfather to get a job and keep it for 2 months, so she becomes a companion to Mrs. Stone, Rueben’s aunt. He is suspicious of her from the start because he knows of her reputation, and her family’s money trouble, but decides to give her a chance, with him in the house to keep an eye on her. A strong attraction, a few close run ins and one sly aunt lead to love and romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and find out what everyone’s task was, and if they were able to accomplish it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
When I read Grandpapa’s bequest and condition, I immediately thought of Scavenger Hunt, one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The movie had a similar premise, but instead of individual tasks, the potential heirs were to participate in a scavenger hunt. I look for this series to be equally entertaining.
The first story is about Angel, the youngest grandchild. Her task is to serve as lady’s companion for two months to Mrs. Stone. Learning to work and take care of others is her lesson. Mrs. Stone is an older lady with a happy disposition and a grumpy nephew who is suspicious of Angel’s motives for coming to care for his aunt. Is she planning to cheat his aunt out of her fortune? Angel is just as suspicious of his motives. As they get to know each other, Rueben and Angel are attracted to each other, but their suspicions get in the way of love. When they finally reveal the truth of their actions, will it be too late to find a future together?
There are Plenty More Dukes in the Sea is an absolutely delightful story and a great beginning for a new series. The well-written and perfectly paced story has a little challenge, a little danger, a lot of humor, and finally romance. The characters are charming. Angel is a little spoiled, happy, kind, caring, and intelligent (her solution to ridding them of the villain was brilliant). Rueben was watchful, dependable, grumpy, but only because he didn’t want to see his aunt hurt, and quite loveable. Mrs. Stone was friendly, happy, and got a glint in her eye when Rueben and Angel were together. I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next one.
Regency historical romance at it’s best! What could be better than a new series, that will feature four siblings who were left an inheritance? Wait, it gets better! Each must complete a task assigned for a two month period, by their grandfather, in order to receive their money! Angel, the heroine of this story, had to become a lady’s companion with no wages. At the beginning Angel seemed this spoiled debutante who only wants to have fun and pursue one man she has her eyes on.
So, she becomes a companion to Lady Jean Stone, an eccentric aunt of Mr Reuben Hunter. Unfortunately Reuben does not trust her and thinks she may be there to steal Aunt Jean’s money! Angel has her own opinions about him, but an attraction cannot be denied! I enjoyed Aunt Jean, Angel and Reuben so much and could not turn the pages fast enough to see what happened.
Samantha Holt’s wonderful writing always warms my heart and her delightful humor and unique plots are so entertaining I am always joyous to see a new story! Cannot wait for the rest of this series!! PS Don’t you love the title!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The first book in The Inheritance Clause series a well-written story that had me smiling at some of the things that happen.I want to read the next book. A women with secrets a gentleman with a lot on his mind especially his Aunt. This book kept me turning pages, Lady Angel Templeton and Mr. Reuben Hunter’s story is a clean sweet read. I would recommend this book.
This one is adorable such wonderful canter between the characters and great twists too. Perhaps in this one Grandfather did know best, but we will need to see if there are other books that will verify that. Angel has a task and she is set on doing it yet there are obstacles such as Mr. Hunter that could cause so many problems. This is a first-rate story you really should pick up. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
THERE ARE PLENTY MORE DUKES IN THE SEA is the first book in the Inheritance Clause series. They will need to be read in the order of release.
There is no doubt from the beginning that Angel is a self-centered, spoiled, young woman. She is the youngest of four and, quite obviously, well loved by all. Still, her grandfather was apparently quite wise and determined that his grandchildren should be more than society leaders. He wants them to value all that they have and all that they are. I believe that is the impetus to his strange inheritance clause. Each is given a task that will force them to grow as individuals. Because this is a romance series, we know that they will each find their HEA while finding that growth.
The story is entertaining, light-hearted, and witty. Angel’s charge, Mrs. Stone, is a reminder that old age does not need to mean sedentary. She is lively and warm. She is the kind of person I would want for a friend.
Though the attraction is immediate, the romance is very slow to build. It is perfectly paced and feels natural. I absolutely loved every minute of reading Angel and Rueben’s story.
I can’t wait to get my hands on her brother, Theo, but then again, I always did like the rakes (bad boys). His story will be Ms. Holt’s next release.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via BookSprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I enjoyed this novella. A fun plot offers a nice blend of humor and sweetness. I really liked Reuben. I thought his character was a bit refreshing from the norm and he was quite simply a “good guy”. The character of Angel had to grow on me a bit (But I think that was totally the point). Her experiences forced her to grow emotionally and see the world differently. This raised her appeal and it was not long before I was wholeheartedly rooting for this couple. After finishing this book I am looking forward to seeing the other characters stories unfold in their upcoming books. This is my frank, freely posted review.
A wonderful start to the series
This is a wonderfully thought out story that gives the series an amazing start. This spicy plot has emotional turmoil and a unique journey for the characters to navigate.
I have to admit that normally Angel is not the kind of character I usually instantly fall in love with but as time went on I understood her more and more and found myself looking at her in a whole new light. I kind of got her and admired her for being true to herself and willing to grow as a person. Rueben was the character I liked from the beginning. His love for his aunt was sweet. I loved his seriousness and willingness to admit changes within himself and that he had changed, and for the better, because of Angel. A cute couple.
This was a cute Victorian romance with no angst and very little steam. I liked the premise of the story: Grandfather states in his will that all four siblings have to complete their tasks in order to inherit. The best part is that none of them can fail or everyone will be disinherited. It seemed that their Grandfather knew them fairly well, so each task was exactly what each of them needed.
Angel was a bit spoiled and a tad selfish in the beginning, so when she started as a lady’s companion I had doubts about her. But in the course of the book she has changed and actually learned to think and care about others. Rueben, the nephew of the aforementioned lady, had his own misgivings to overcome and took his time to see that Angel was more than just a pretty face.
I liked the MCs, and as a couple they were very sweet. The editing was ok with only a couple if misprints. I wished for a bit more tension since the proposed villain of the story was not much of a villain after all and was dealt with in a manner that left me wanting. The explicit intimate scene in the end reminded me of modern time too much with the language used and didn’t suit the style of the book, so it was not the favorite ending, but all in all, I enjoyed this short novella.
Lady Angel Templeton is the Ton’s flirt and only wants to have fun. Then her grandfather dies and in order for the grandchildren to inherit (he had no sons), must all complete a task as outlined in his will by his attorney. Lady Angel’s task in to become a companion to an older lady, in the country for 2 months with no contact with friends. This was to get her away from partying and flirting and therefore; having to take care of someone else – this completion of the task had to be approved the the attorney. Her siblings would also have tasks but no one other that them and the attorney could know about the will’s inheritance clause.
Mrs. Stone, Angel’s new charge, is a vivacious, busy, social lady with some mental forgetfulness and bad decision making. Her favorite nephew Mr. Reuben Hunter lives a couple of miles from his aunt and he tries to keep tabs on her health and managing her expenses but he can’t be there all of the time. Then they meet – Reuben know of Angel’s flirty, fun loving reputation and isn’t happy nor does he understand why a Lady would take on being a companion.
The 3 main characters are so much fun – Angel falls in love with Mrs. Stone and the bantering, mistrust, romance, love blooms between Reuben and Angel. I highly recommend this book and am look forward to the next one to see what the next sibling’s task will be.
