LOYALTY…

Only read 30%. I couldn’t get into it. I didn’t think Theodora’s character was very likable.
I love the strength and intelligence of Theo. Delightful band entertaining story line!
Too much introspection
I liked the book cover synopsis of Theodora by Christina McKnight, so I ignored the iffy reviews and went ahead and downloaded it.
I very much liked intrepid and free-thinking Theodora, and I even kind of liked the three finishing school roommates. Sadly, as soon as Alastair made his appearance, the remainder of the book began to go slowly downhill. I use the word slow for a reason. The amount of introspection and detailed descriptions were a major factor in slowing the progress of each scene. Molasses runs down a cold wall faster. By the time I reached what was a decent ending, I was more than ready to remove this read from my Kindle app.
Content 411: This is a clean read that is free of swearing and sex.
How scandalous for 4 ladies to compete in a public archery contest, so they went incognito. A delightful Victorian romp.
The Lady Archer’s Creed “Friendship, Loyalty, and Honor Above All.”
Lady Theodora has just returned from school at Miss Emmeline’s School of Education and Decorum for Ladies of Outstanding Quality where she has met her friends Ladies Georgina, Adeline, and Josephine. They all have honed their archery skills and are using them to enter tournaments to raise money to help the school they all love.
Having to keep their identity and their quest secret, they have trouble when Alistair Price catches his sister Adeline sneaking out of their house.
Poor Alistair hasn’t yet inherited the Melton Viscountship but due to his father’s illness has inherited the responsibility of his eight younger siblings. Since he is responsible for presenting Adeline to society he is in a constant quandary as to how to keep her name out of the gossip rags. At least until he can get her married off. The lady archers turn his world upside down especially Theo.
When he is again at Theodora’s looking for Adaline and runs into Mr. Oliver Gladstone he warns Theo about him. After her assurance that she has no intentions to marry until after she has pursued her map making future. He is no longer worried until a few days later when he comes to apologize yet again for a wrong he has done and finds her betroth to Gladstone.
Will Theo be forced to marry a heartless man? Will the Lady Archer’s raise enough money without being ruined? Will Alistair be able to gain the woman he loves? And will Theodora ever be able to meet with Damon Cassini who’s family has developed topographical maps?
These are all questions that I had when I read this book and they are all answered through out. This is one that will have you rooting for all The Lady Archer’s, Alistair and his siblings. Of course you will be rooting for Theo as her world falls apart before it rights again. She is a strong heroine and doesn’t need anyone but finds that she likes having someone to lean on.
I started it and couldn’t put it down until I found out what happened.
A page turner for sure. I highly Recommend this book!
