Tatum left everything she knew behind. Her life and family to runaway with Fletcher. Her family disowned her. Left to struggle to pick up the pieces of a broken ranch and all the problems that came with her dead husband’s debts she tries to keep the ranch afloat. In comes Jack Sutton, Tatum not knowing he has the ability to help her. She is reluctant to hire him. Fate is what has thrown them together. Tatum hires Jack as her ranch manager to help her keep the place from going under. Tatum thinks she cannot trust anyone until Jack starts to break down her walls. Jack is the alpha hero that makes you swoon. I liked the fact that no matter what troubles came Tatum’s way Jack was there to rescue her.. Who doesn’t need a Jack Sutton to take care and look after you?
K Bromberg tells a story of deception, lies and then hope. A wonderful read.

I know I’m in the minority here, I know we all love Kristy Bromberg’s books, we love her writing and how she develop these beautiful stories but I couldn’t fell for this one, it was hard for me to connect with the female character, she wasn’t the kind of woman I will admire, don’t get me wrong this is a second chance story and I get the fact that we all make mistakes or take bad decisions but when Tate had her second chance she didn’t take it.
Tate Knox fell in love with Fletcher, she left her home, her family and the support of her family to follow Fletcher’s dream, to have a ranch and raise horses. Then life happens and she was alone with a ranch and a lot of debts, a failing business and now she needs Jake Sutton help to bring her business back, she needed to prove that she’s not a failure. Isn’t she??
Ok it seems like a lovely story Jack help her and they fell in love and they get her happily after but I never get that feeling, you know why? Because that wasn’t her dream at all.
She studied photography in one of the top programs at Yale, she built he portfolio in Europe and she was really good at it, but when she left everything for Fletcher, she become oblivious of everything around her, therefore Fletcher brought down the business, her funds and leave her with nothing but debts. And when she had the chance to start over and follow her dream, she stays to fight for the ranch, Fletcher’s dream not her.
I love K Bromberg books, she’s still one of my one click authors. I just didn’t like this, I felt a bit disappointed.
A gripping love story that captivated me from the very beginning and never let go. A devastatingly beautiful romance that is powerfully inspiring, emotionally raw, and breathtakingly romantic. An unforgettable masterpiece with so much heart and soul that that I fell deeper in love with the characters and their epic love story with each turn of the page. Two broken souls who find the missing piece that makes them feel whole again. A beautiful, strong, and resilient heroine and a complex, fiercely protective and determined hero. Their chemistry is magnetic and undeniable. Their exchanges are witty and they spar so well with one another. The storyline is incredibly well-written and flowed seamlessly with twists and turns that are a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Their journey together was so beautifully written and I felt every emotion experienced – they radiated from the pages. I laughed, cried so many tears (happy and sad), felt the butterflies, the heart palpitations, the pure joy and every ounce of pain. The heartfelt moments stole my breath and the heartbreaking ones shattered my heart. Their relationship is tested and how they fight for one another was breathtaking. The wisdom interlaced throughout was inspiring. A powerful story of love, faith and forgiveness that left a mark on my heart and soul. This book is worth of 10 brilliant stars and one of my top reads of all time. I highly recommend reading this stunning love story!
What a wonderful story!! Ranch life, secrets, and falling in love made for an exciting book!!
Kristy Bromberg’s best book to date!
An amazing and emotional ride with a twist that I did not see coming. A truly beautiful and absolutely fantastic story. The characters were perfect, and I fell instantly in love with their stories.
If you’re looking for your “Next Time” this is a MUST READ!!!!
I haven’t read many books by this author but each time I do I’m reminded of how real the characters are, how easy they are to connect with. Jack and Tatum are no exception. Their connection pulls you in, lights them up and makes for amazing camaraderie, foreplay and passion. The fights are sexual tension and self preservation, but they are inevitable and it was beautiful. The last chapters broke my heart and made me hate a man so selfish he broke not one but two people. Will? Great supporting character the last few chapters.
Jack and Tate’s story drew me in from page one. I hated to have to put my kindle down. This story was fantastic. It Had all the feels. I was so surprised by the outcome. I loved how it was written. I have been a fan of Kristi’s since the driven trilogy, and I loved this book just as much. Five stars isn’t enough.
Another steamy, entertaining page-turner filled with wonderful characters from K. Bromberg!
Rating~ 3.5 stars.
Then You Happened by K. Bromberg introduces us to Tatum Knox, a widow and owner of a ranch in a small town where everybody hates her. Enter Jack Sutton, the new ranch manager to answer her problems, except he’s the one thats adding to her problems.
Have to be honest, I struggled with this at the start. I was so confused, I was intrigued but very confused. As the book went on it got better.
Tatum and Jack from the moment they meet in person, it’s an antagonist relationship. They are attracted to each other but hate each others guts, doesn’t help that Jack looks like he believes every single rumour about Tate from the townspeople (who btw I hated). As time goes, Tate and Jack work together to save their ranch, they start to see each other in a newer and better light. Both are very resistant to giving into their feelings or attraction because of hurts and the damage their past relationships have cost them. Which adds the additional delicious push and pull between them. They are very closed off at the start of the book but as their relationship develops we start to learn more about them as people and see them a great couple.
Tate and Jack had great chemistry, with the added drama of losing the ranch, the god awful towns people and secrets that Jack hid added a bit more depth to the story. It is a different to what I’ve read from K. Bromberg but its no less entertaining!
Quibbles: Some of the insulting things Jack says Tate were just ?? especially because he himself knows thats not exactly the truth, he doesn’t even really know the woman but I would have loved loved some actual grovelling from Jack, at the time they reunite it just gets brushed over because of spoiler-y reasons but it just didn’t give me the reunion or the grovelling from Jack I needed. Also Tate’s only friend in town, wasn’t much of a friend. She knew what was happening yet she didn’t do anything to help Tate out or let her know. How was it that Fletcher let her be friends with a townsperson when he was completely against her even going or seeing anyone there. There were also little bits and pieces of Tate and Fletcher’s marriage that needed more attention because they didn’t sound right at all but got brushed over. Also thought how it was hypocritical of Jack to constantly want Tate to be honest with him all the while he’s not which brings me back to the grovelling.
Overall, I enjoyed it! The story might have been predictable but it was done well and I literally felt all the emotions from frustration to anger to love that Tate and Jack both really resisted to feel.
What an incredible story! I’m in love with Tate and Jack!
I’m in love with this book! K. Bromberg has brought us a new couple who pull at your heartstrings and make you cheer for them to have it all.
Take one strong, determined and heartbroken woman. Add one confident, determined and repentive man. It all equals a push and pull story of epic moments. Of finding trust in another person when all has been lost. Of working hard to succeed at your goals. Of finding confidence in yourself. Of finding “the one” who’s your perfect match even when you’re not really looking.
This is a great book and even more fabulous when you add the audible version and listen along as you read. The narrators, Grace Grant and Brian Pallino give you the feeling of being there in the moment and add an extra level of pleasure to this story.
Then You Happened is an enemies to lovers romance that is about finding yourself, finding love, and learning to trust. I always enjoy reading books by K. Bromberg because of the heart of the story. Like her previous book, these characters have felt pain and are damaged in some way.
Tate is trying to make a failing business successful when just about everyone is against her. Jack Sutton comes to town and wants to help her. There are lots of secrets from both the past and the present that make it hard for them to trust one another.
I loved the journey of these characters. It’s a beautiful and tragic story that contemporary romance readers will enjoy.
I give Then You Happened 4 stars. I thought K. Bromberg created a lovely story that is heartfelt. It is so easy to get attached to these characters. A beautiful story about being able to find yourself and open yourself up to love.
I love books, but often lack the time to read as many as I’d like. As a result, there are a number of well- known authors that have lingered on my TBR list. When the opportunity to read “Then You Happened” landed in my inbox a few weeks ago, I decided it was finally time to get acquainted with K Bromberg. In this sense, she is a new-to-me author, and this standalone contemporary romance proved to be a good inaugural read.
This is the story of Tatum Knox, a widow hell bent on proving to the world (or at least the small town of Lone Star, Texas) that she can manage her struggling ranch all on her own, and Jack Sutton, her newly hired ranch manager hell bent on helping Tatum save her land and livelihood. After battling one bitter disappointment in life after another, Tatum trusts no one but herself, even when she is in desperate need of a helping hand. Although Jack and Tatum butt heads from the beginning, he is fascinated by her “wild”. With each turn of the page, my interest grew as Jack effortlessly adapted his horse whisperer skills to rein in Tatum’s fiery temper.
That isn’t to say that she doesn’t get on Jack’s last nerve from time to time. These two spend the first third of the novel arguing back and forth quite a bit, and I have to admit I struggled with this. To me, it seemed like these two had the same fight several times over, and after a while it proved difficult to hold my attention. It was only once Tatum and Jack found their way past the arguments that the story really opened up and drew me in.
My favorite moments in his book happened when Tatum’s defenses finally come down with Jack. There were moments that I swooned. Moments when I laughed out loud. Moments when my eyes welled up with tears. Tatum is a determined, fierce fighter and Jack’s quiet ruggedness and protective nature was a perfect complement to her.
I could list several 5 star moments in Then You Happened, but I could also list just as many 3 star ones. Overall, I’m glad I stuck with this book. By the end of the novel, I was invested in Tatum and Jack’s story and was glad to have spent a few days in their world.
If you enjoy cowboys, enemies to lovers, and women fighting against all odds then this book is a solid 4 star read!
“Today is the day I own my wild.”
Tatum Knox is struggling to keep her ranch afloat. Her lying rat of a husband dies leaving a trail of debts behind him. The towns people hate her. They think she’s up her self and far too superior. Her family abandoned her. She’s alone and trusts no one but she refuses to be broken. I adored her spirit. She’s feisty and uncompromising.
Jack Sutton is making good a promise and sees Tatum as his way to right a wrong. He’s determined to save her ranch and make Tatum trust again. He’s easy on the eye and oh so much of a hero.
The story plays out in beautiful photographs. Snaps of horses roaming. A run down farm. A broken fence. Dirty jeans. Dirty hands. Sunsets over pastures. The tears of a woman who owns her wild. I could see them all.
Kristy Bromberg wrote a beautiful book about not giving up, about fighting for yourself, about hope and trust. The not giving up isn’t just about not giving up yourself; it’s about not giving up on others when they are down and need help.
It made my heart happy (after the tears).
“Horse are horses and cattle are cattle and land is land and it isn’t all that complicated as long as you respect them.”
“When the sun sets, it’s you who has to lie in the bed with the decisions you make every day. It’s you who has to be confident they are the right ones when everyone else thinks they are wrong.”
“It’s a lot easier to love through the hate than to hate through the love.”
Gorgeous characters, an heart-throbbing romance, a little mystery and intrigue along with the exciting backdrop of ranch life makes this a spectacular read from one of my favorite authors. She always delivers with spectacular characters and a story that will rip your heart out and melt your panties! Right from the opening heartbreak all the way to the heartfelt ending this story was dripping with so much intense emotion and drama. Tatum as the widow with a failing ranch and the mess left by her lying ass of a husband is a fabulous heroine. So much strength and spunk. Jack is a panty-melting hero as he rides in to rescue Tatum from her dead husband mess with a big secret and a load of guilt. Their first encounter set the tone for their relationship. A lot of fight and a sizzling chemistry. I was a little confused by some of Jack and Tate’s first few push/pulls but it soon settled out into an enthralling story about saving the ranch, building trust and a sexy budding romance. The intrigue built as Jack struggled with his dilemma and it wasn’t to hard to figure out part of the secret. The fallout pulled on every emotion and left me breathless and wrung out. I loved the ranching lifestyle and the small town mean mentality with outsiders in the story. I was so glad this a a complete story. Yeah! No cliffhanger!! Such beautiful writing with characters that will live with me for a while. Great epilogue that left me satisfied but also sad to leave Jack and Tate behind. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
I reserve the right to change my mind at any given time in the future, but as of right now I can honestly say that this is my favorite K Bromberg novel so far. I am so in love with everything about this book.
Who knew I had a thing for cowboys? Jack Sutton has officially lured me in, his charismatic ways both charming and infuriating. I absolutely loved him from page one. He’s far from perfect, but for me that’s part of his appeal. He’s a mystery with some things, and an open book with others. He’s loving, loyal, quirky, and fun. He’s exactly what Tate needs.
Tate is unlike any heroine I’ve read before. Life has been unkind to her, and it’s hardened her heart and left her with the inability to trust. Knowing all she’s been through, it’s easy to understand why. But once she lets her guard down, she’s an amazing woman. She just needs that extra little push that Jack can provide.
They say there’s a thin line between love and hate, and both Jack and Tate straddle it mercilessly throughout this story. Their chemistry crackles off the pages, and their slow-burn keeps you hanging around for more. Their encounters are often fun and witty, heartbreaking and full of the feels, or steamy enough to leave you breathless. One thing they never are is boring. This is definitely one of my favorite KB novels so far. It definitely gets all the stars from me.
The Prologue to Then You Happened, K. Bromberg’s newest release, is incredibly powerful, illustrating what a person is willing to do to be able to choose who and what she wants in life, but Tatum Valor’s choice costs her way more than she ever thought possible and with one decision, she redefined her life in ways that she might not come back from, because six years later, she only has overwhelming heartache and loneliness as well as a multitude of failures that might truly leave her with nothing and no one.
But then you happened…
In both good ways and bad, this becomes Tate and Jack’s mantra as they contend with a litany of issues, both personal and professional, as well as deal with their internal torments that only seem to intensify the more time these two spend together, and once secret agendas and truths are finally revealed, it’s unclear if they will see their connection as the best or worse thing to happen to them.
I have to be honest…Jack and Tate frustrated the heck out of me, and my feelings for both of them, but especially Tate, fluctuated based on the amount of over-the-top actions and reactions she had compared to the scenes where she seemed willing to listen…willing to work together with Jack, not against him.
The fact that both Jack and Tate are more than a little headstrong may play into their banter and the sexual tension that builds between them, but it felt like they acted without thinking way too much and then when they finally figured out a way to communicate, their reactions didn’t seem to fit the situations nor did they seem to be argue about important issues or concerns. I get that when emotions are high, the worst can be brought out, but after everything that both of them had been through, it would have liked to see them work to not make the same mistakes.
K. Bromberg creates quite the small town feel in Lone Star, Texas, especially when it comes to the busybodies and gossipers. These townspeople may feel like they’re doing nothing wrong, but when they don’t know whether they’re spreading facts or spreading lies, they definitely have a knack for causing way more trouble than happiness.
Even though I had my ups and downs with Tate and Jack’s story, I really liked how Bromberg resolved her characters’ issues and gave them exactly what they wanted and needed after struggling for so long.
4 Poison Apples
Then You Happened is not just a romance… it is a cowboy romance!!
You are in for a ride with Jack and Tate!
I just LOVED everything about this story and I could not put it down. I found the story addictive, funny and moving. I loved the hate-flirting, the witty dialogue, the sexy, slow romance of Jake and Tate’s relationship. I loved how much they understood one another and did not want to admit their attraction.
Tatum was an amazing heroine- I really felt for her and all the lies… How do you recover from this? how do you move on? Jack is everything she despised- arrogant, cocky but she cannot deny that he is SEXY HOT.
Once they crossed the enemy line, all their animosity translated and transformed into some electric foreplay. This story made laugh and it made me cry.
Secrets, lies, trust… all the feels.
Will Tate yield to temptation? at what cost?
Wow! Once again, K. Bromberg blows my mind. Just when I think I know what to expect from her, she gives me something totally different. Then You Happened is the story of Tate and Jack, two people with difficult pasts, both trying to carve out their own lives beyond what was expected of them. This is a slow-burn, enemies to lovers romance with some twists and turns that I did not see coming. I really enjoyed this one!
This is story of a woman who though naive when the story starts, learns her own strength and is successful at last. It is so tough when you are young and naive not to fall in love if someone comes and makes you dream of making your own decisions and living your dreams. In Tate’s case, marrying the guy from the wrong side of the tracks sealed her destiny. He authoritative father would never accept her marriage to this man. Her mother was unable to stand up to her father and stop him from disowning her.
After the early death of her husband, Tate is confronted with the reality of her life. Her husband had kept her in the dark to his failures and the state of the financial affairs. Now, it is up to Tate to save their horse farm and get out of debt. This was more than she was prepared to handle, but somehow, she is determined to fight and succeed.
Jack is a charmer. He is the cowboy who is willing to work for Tate and help her save the farm. Yet, there is something about him that will make you love and hate him at the same time. Why is he so willing to help her? He is a charmer but is it all an act?
I loved loved loved this story. I could not put this book down!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
