This story caught my attention right from the start. The story was well-written and flowed nicely. The plot was interesting and had some plot twists and turns that made this an interesting and intriguing story. The characters were strong and well-developed. The author did a nice job of bringing this story to life with her vivid descriptions and well-developed scenes. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more in this series.

At first I thought this was just going to be a story about a girl who is engaged to a controlling selfish jerk when she meets a nice guy. But Gray has a lot of layers and his previous work as an investigative reporter and one story in particular come back to haunt him and provide several suspenseful moments in this romance. In the beginning I was yelling at Cherish to grow a backbone and leave behind the life her controlling parents want and Devin, who just kept giving me even more reasons to dislike him. She blows hot and cold with Gray just wanting to be friends, but also with benefits and then pushing him away and not being open about her feelings. I also didn’t like that her parents just brush off illegal potentially disbarring activity as if it’s normal in a legal practice and didn’t consider how their daughters could be held criminally liable by association. There was a lot going on in this story with kidnapping, attempted murder, and crooked lawyers, police officers and companies. I liked her sister and his brothers and they provided some lighthearted funny moments. I’m looking forward to their stories.
This is the first book in the Love in Dunes Bay series. This was a great book. It’s well written and had an enjoyable storyline. I couldn’t stop reading it. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be my last. I love the Steele family and hope to see Gray’s brothers and Cherish’s sister Rachel get stories too. I can’t wait for book two in this series.
Cherish is used to having her life managed. Her parents control things and have her convinced that she needs to marry and settle down. They really are horrible excuses for parents. They have poor Cherish convinced that she can’t make the right decisions for herself. Her fiancée is a controlling, pompous jerk. She meets Gray the evening before she’s supposed to get married and she unburdens her troubles on him. They have a nice talk and part ways. Gray figures he’ll never see her again, which is a shame because he really liked her. Cherish hits a wall on her wedding day after hearing her mother say some things that shocked her, and she ends up running out on her fiancée. Best decision she could have made. Gray ends up checking up on her after he finds out that she ran out on her wedding. They decide to stay friends. They don’t want to complicate things even though they feel the pull of attraction. When Gray goes back to Chicago to deal with the fallout from a story he wrote about crooked cops. Cherish follows and gets caught in the mess. Can he get the mess he’s in fixed and keep Cherish safe? Are they just friends or could they become more than friends?

A both exciting and heartwarming story
The first book I’ve read by this author was a delightful surprise. The characters were very real (especially her super controlling parents that I viscerally disliked)! Her fiancé was just another controlling person in her life that created a strong negative reaction. Fortunately she goes to a bar and meets Gray with whom she has terrific conversation that helps convince her to do something about all the negatives in her life. This especially included her parents along with her fiancé due to their “semi” illegal professional legal practices. Gray is not only a positive influence but also provides excitement due to his previous work as an investigative reporter.
I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Cherish’s life hasn’t always been ruled by her parents and now she is going to marry Devin, as expected. But the day before her wedding what she knew about her fiancée’s ethics made she realise that she has not control over her life. Meeting a handsome stranger in a bar and opening her soul to him will help her find herself, start to fight her own battles. But can Grayson be only a stranger or will their paths cross again? Danger is near but will bring them together or separate them forever? A passionate love and loved story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Runaway bride meets runaway journalist
This is the story of how Cherish and Grayson meet and the journey which leads to their happily ever after. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say, if you enjoy reading about families, love, and suspense. I’m looking forward to reading Rachel’s story next. I can’t wait to see if Cherish’s sister will get her own happily ever after.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
All Is Not Right in Her World
I love that this author set up the story with so much detail. Often we just hear of troublesome families and fiances without being truly shown what the people are like. The author takes a fair amount of time to show me precisely what Cherish’s world is like, professionally, with her parents, and with the man she is about to marry. You can’t help but sympathize with her as these people who should care about her don’t really appear to. They’re much more into control and appearances. It’s no surprise that she is attracted to a controlling jerk who’s immoral and unethical because her parents are so controlling. Things change, though, when she meets Gray. And then she makes the decision that opens up her life. An interesting plotline with some excellent character development. The author did a superb job showing the heroine’s progression.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
