I enjoyed this book I read it in 3 days the banter between Jason and Eileen had me smiling and enjoyed reading looking forward to more books from Claudia and hoping another books with the Spearman family
Such a great story but if I had a sister like Charlie I would throttle her!!
This second book in the Spearman brothers series (at least I think it’s a series) concentrates on Jason Spearman, Jack’s younger brother. Jason has built a huge wall around his heart after his fiancee crushed it. He’s jaded and would rather play the field than make the “commitment” mistake again. His interest is peaked when he meets Eileen, his cousin, Marek’s future sister-in-law. They are roped into planning a shotgun wedding for Eileen’s older sister, Charlie. Eileen is unlike any woman he’s ever met and their interaction makes him wonder if there is happiness for him after all.
Eileen is the ultimate definition of a middle child. She’s overlooked by her family, an afterthought that only becomes noticed when they need something. Through it all she tries to stay positive and give her family, especially her sister the benefit of the doubt, only to be let down time and again. Meeting Jason seems to make the whole wedding situation tolerable. He’s smart, handsome, witty and so out of her league or so she thinks.
I truly enjoyed this story, even Charlie with her selfish, ungrateful, bratty ways added a level of emotional turmoil that I truly appreciated. I wanted to throttle her so many times and Eileen’s ever-present patience with her older sister had me wanting to pull my hair out. I just wanted to yell at her to stand up for herself. The inevitable confrontation was very satisfying and at the end Eileen prevailed.
Jason and Eileen really understood each other, they were very compatible and their witty exchanges were so funny and had me very entertained. Their chemistry was super hot. I just love Claudia’s stories and would highly recommend them.
I fell in love Eileen and Jason together and just as people it’d be awesome to be friends with. First we meet Jason who after getting his heart smashed into a million pieces turns into a cynical one night stand kind of guy, enter Eileen the sister of the chick his cousin knocked up. They come together as they get drawn into planning a shotgun wedding for them and form a friendship while keeping each other sane. I loved the banter between Jason and Eileen, how they fit so well to together, and how easy they flowed together. Eileen’s family is a piece of work I wanted to just shake some sense into, she’s way to good to them even though they can’t ever even remember her damn birthday and blame things on that aren’t her fault and expect her to be there and bend over backwards for with no thanks. She’s an amazing human being and Jason gives her so much support and encourages her to stand up for herself. It was great reading their friendship and flirtation light up and eventually combust *fans self*. I’m glad there wasn’t too much resistance from either once they realized their feeling for each other though it took Jason a hot minute to realize that their love is worth taking a risk on and it’d be a waste to walk away from how perfect they are for each other. And boy does he deliver. *dreamy sigh* Haven’t had a chance to read Jason’s brothers story but will definitely be reading that soon. Give Jason and Eileen a shot, you won’t regret it.
I just have to say how much I couldn’t stand Charlie. She is one selfish, self-centered witch. Then He Happened is a love story centered around Jason and Eileen. The thing good to say about Charlie is that, if she hadn’t gotten pregnant by Marek, Jason’s cousin, then Eileen and Jason probably wouldn’t have met. This is a hilarious read, but it’s also heartbreaking the way Charlie and her parents treat Eileen. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens. I bet you will love Eileen and Jason’s characters. I would have loved to give this book five stars, but the editing needed more edits.
Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa is the story about Eileen and Jason, if you have read Maybe Later, you have met him in that book, he is Jack’s brother. So we learnt at the beginning of the book why Jason and Eileen dont expect so much about life, Jason was deeply hurt whe he thought he lost the love of his live, in Eileen’s case her family is the problem, they have always left her down, like forgetting special dates or making her responsible for things she didnt do.
So these two amazing characters find each other in a awkard situation when they have to plan a weeding for members of their families, but the problem is that the bride (Eileen’s sister) is worst than bridezilla!! she wants everything so expensive and perfect and her fiance well is not a mature enough guy (Jason’s cousin). So basically Jason and Eileen are in charge of everything, so they start having a lot of meetings, and stuff like that and they start to discover that they can bee really good friends because they understand each other, and even they know it could be something more…But their past will make them believe they can have their HEA??? If you want to know what else happen in this story you NEED to read it NOW!!
This is an amazing story with lots of laughings and lots of moments when you want to punch Charlie in the face, but well i think we all know a person who is just like that right?
Congratulations Claudia for another amazing story!!! Can’t wait to know more about the other secondary characters, like Jossie ( Jason’s Assistant) she is the best and so funny!!
Eileen & Jason have taken the task to bring together a quick shotgun wedding for her sister & his cousin. Jason doesn’t believe in love, since he was jilted at the alter before. Eileen has always been overlooked & an afterthought by her family, so she usually drops everything to do whatever needs to be done in hopes of being somewhat noticed & appreciated. Working with a bridezilla & a nagging mother is working on her last nerve. Thank goodness Jason is there to throw compliments & make her laugh, which brings the only smile & happiness in her life while dealing with her family drama. What happens when Jason realizes that as they spend time together, Eileen has also been healing his heart with her fresh, light, & carefree attitude?
Despite how bad Eileen’s family treated her, she was a strong, selfless character. Even though things worked out with her sister in the end, I would have loved to see some closure with her parents. Looking forward to reading more about the family!
I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I loved the plot idea and Jason, but I hated Eileen sometimes. The basic idea here is that Eileen and Jason are being “forced” to plan a wedding for Eileen’s bratty older sister and Jason’s broke cousin. Both Jason and Eileen have been the fixer for their families; the one that makes things happen.
But good golly miss molly did I want Eileen to grow a spine! The things her family said and did to her seemed so beyond what I could imagine. That was the hardest thing for me to stomach – how she lets her family tear her down.
Moving past that, I loved the relationship between Jason and Eileen. They start as two people forced into wedding planning, and become friends along the way. They bonded over musicals, eighties music, and food (side note: like all best friends should!) and each soon comes to realize that maybe there is a little more there than friendship.
Great banter and dialogue. Enjoyed revisiting Jack and Em from Maybe Later – hoping we get to see more from the Spearman family!
Jason is wealthy, successful and appears to have it all however he has been burnt by love in the past so now he prefers to keep his heart guarded. Not only does he find himself helping to arrange his cousins wedding, but he has to help pay for it as well. The only bright spot is the time he gets to spend with the bride’s sister Eileen.
Eileen is used to always being an afterthought in her family compared to her sister but that doesn’t make it any easier. She has now been coerced by her family to help with the arrangements and the finances as once again she has to be the responsible one.
Jason and Eileen become friends as they work together to ensure that the wedding proceeds without a hitch which is no easy feat with all the chaos that surrounds them. Their friendship develops into something much deeper but is it because of the wedding or the start of something much more?
Fun and flirty I really enjoyed Jason and Eileen together. They are both so supportive of everyone in their lives it was great to see them get the happiness they deserve.
Loved this Raw emotional broken beautiful amazing love story of Jason and Eileen so addicting. So ready for more can we get Alex and Jossie
Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa is a entertaining and emotionally satisfying romance that will have you alternating between needing tissues, laughing at the antics of the characters, grabbing a cold drink to cool off after steamy moments between Jason and Eileen. Their love journey just grabbed me by the heart and gave it a huge squeeze. Their love story is a slow burn but most definitely emotionally charged and sweet and beautiful. Without giving any spoilers away, This story will have you rooting for Jason and Eileen to get their HEA.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ******
I am a broken woman. I finished this book and have no idea how to move on from here. I want to climb into this book and live Eileens life with Jason. This book made me laugh, made me cry (happy tears) and it made me want to punch a couple characters in the face!! I loved it from the first sentence. It gives you hope that fairytales really can come true. It makes you think that everybody has an Eileen or Jason waiting on them somewhere. It pulls at your heartstrings and gives you a happily ever after you will never forget. I loved this story. It’s an absolute must read! I have never reread a book, but I can guarantee this will be my first.
The amazing story of Jason and Eileen the two biggest enablers of all time. Eileen the people pleasing middle child has been ignored and run over her whole life, she gets the blame but never the credit. Everything is always about her selfish older sister Charlie who is knocked up by an out of work artist so now she needs a royal wedding. Enter Jason the cousin of the groom who is always called on to help the immature artist. Jason had been burned bad by an old love and isn’t looking but as they get to know each other they just fit. This couple sets out to plan the perfect day for the ungrateful bridezilla and become friends (and more) along the way. I loved the storyline and the characters were very descript. This is a very enjoyable book with humor, sadness, drama, and lots of feelings. Loved It!!

Then He Happened is a cute friends to lovers romance.
Jason and Eileen get stuck planning a shotgun wedding together. It was a sweet book about two people who felt misunderstood, abandoned and had their hearts broken some time in their lives. Jason understood Eileen and their friendship soon morphed into something more. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two and how Jason appeared to be this bad boy but really was a unique soul. They made such a cute pair.
Then He Happened pulls at your heartstrings and makes the non-believers of love believe in it. It’s also a tale of two people who have hit some road bumps along the way to find that just beyond all that is smooth road as long as you keep going.
Loved this book! From the very first chapter to the last, it held my attention and I wanted to know what would happen next. Eileen and Jason are wonderful characters. Each have gone through so much in their lives, Jason being left at the alter and Eileen being overshadowed by her sister. The banter between them is everything! Coming together to put together a wedding for Eileen’s selfish sister, these two heat up the pages and learn that love is real.
Then He Happened was one fantastic romantic comedy with a whole lot of heart. I absolutely Love Claudia Burgoa she just has a way with her stories that captures your heart from the very beginning of all her books, and this one is no different. I absolutely loved Jason he was just so adorable okay maybe a bit cynical but I think that was what made him so intriguing. I loved that Eileen didn’t fall for his charms so quickly or did she? This is one story that will have you swooning and then laughing out loud. I so enjoyed this book and I just will say it is one book you won’t want to miss. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Who had time for love when you’re wallowing in the pit of despair that is adulthood!? Eileen and Jason definitely don’t and they don’t have time to help messy family members who can’t grow up, but that’s exactly what they find themselves doing!
Eileen and Jason were thrust together unwillingly! Through their time together though a friendship neither had time for blossoms! They uncover each other’s secrets and share their desires! Both are falling fast but neither wants to admit it!
Jason spearman is seriously THE BEST! He puts on his playboy armor to hide his vulnerability but when Eileen peels back his layers a man who is loyal and loving is what you find! Eileen is strong and very talented but doesn’t know her own worth in life!! Jason helps her find the strength she needs to demand better from those around her!
A beautiful and funny story that reminds me of all my fave romcom movies that I love!
This is an incredibly heart warming tale about two people who both feel that life is against them, being forced into what they feel is the most impossible and horrible situation, and finding a miracle. Jason has been crushed by what he thought was his soulmate in his past. Eileen just gets stepped on, walked all over, and forgotten by her own family. These characters are so enchanting. They are relatable and feel so very real. This book grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go.
Claudia Burgoa is one of those authors that no matter what she writes you know its going to be great! Then He Happened is another one of her great books! It was fun and easy going with just enough hot and sexy! Jason Spearman is quite the romantic and he doesnt even know it! Hes thoughtful in every way and pulls at all the heartstrings! You could say Eileen has it all together, but deep down shes suffocating at the hands of her family. I dont remember ever disliking secondary characters as much as I dislike her family, they were the worst! The plot and storyline was a bit out of the box for something different but just as addictive and I loved the banter between Jason and Eileen! I wanted just a little more of them at the end, but I hope we get more of them very soon!!
Jason was engaged to a woman he thought he’d spend forever with until everything changed. Now he’s decided to only do hook ups and protect his heart. Eileen is a woman whose family acts like she doesn’t exist until they need her. They meet when Jason’s brother and Eileen’s sister get engaged after getting pregnant. The bride and groom are a mess but can Jason and Eileen make it through the wedding? Will Jason ever love again? Will Eileen ever stand up to her family?
I loved this story so much! I was smiling so big while reading it. Jason is the ultimate book boyfriend and Eileen is so sweet.
Eileen’s sister is a spoiled brat and poor Eileen was so taken advantage of. However in comes prince charming Jason and their lives were slowly changed.
Claudia hasn’t written anything I don’t enjoy. Go grab this one!
