Gah! Loved it! This is yet another fantastic read that had me hooked from the first page. It was packed full of emotions that had me grabbing the tissues one minute and laughing my head off the next. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Then He Happened was a really cute story. In it we meet Eileen, who is the middle child in a dysfunctional family. I hated how she got treated by her parents and sister. She gets reigned in to planning her older sisters shotgun wedding. Then she is paired up with Jason, who is the cousin to the groom. Jason Spearman is Jacks brother from the first book in the series. (You do not need to read book one to understand Then He Happened. It’s a stand-alone. However, I enjoyed getting glimpses of the couple of book one in book two)
Jason Spearman has been burned by love before and he’s not interested in letting it ever happen again. But when he’s paired up with Eileen to plan a wedding he can’t help but wonder how they’d be together. He thinks she’s funny and attractive and he’s definitely in to her.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It was funny and sweet. I think everyone who enjoys a well written, funny, love story will enjoy this book. I can’t wait to see whose story we get next.
Jason and Eileen are good characters that have been hurt by people that they thought loved them. They see the good in each other and try to help each other believe in themselves and in each other. I like how they learn to enjoy life again and having someone to understand them at the core of who they each are.
This is a really nice story that covers second chances at love and finding your other half.
Such an amazing book I absolutely loved it I couldn’t put it down highly recommend
This is the second rom-com story that Claudia Burgoa has written, and what can I say—I LOVED IT!!! This is definitely one of the greatest ones I have read so far. It is fun, witty banter, embarrassingly hilarious situations, lots of steeeamy romance, and moments of heartbreak. I found myself at times laughing so hard and other times using profanity at one character that my husband thought I had lost it a bit.
Jason Spearman is a very handsome playboy, who was considered to be cold-hearted, but there was a reason why after what he went through, but actually he is very charismatic, charming, uses facetious remarks, and he definitely was not ready for a committed relationship and to fall in love. Eileen McBean is twenty-six, a physical therapist, and graduating with her PhD degree on her birthday. Her family treats her like a long lost child. When you meet her older sister, Charlie, you will understand why I used profanity.
Eileen met Jason at her parent’s home, where he was in attendance to help his cousin Marek, the groom, and a world class disaster. Eileen and Jason gets railroaded into planning a wedding of no return for her certifiable sister—the bridezilla! That’s enough to drive anyone crazy. Read about Eileen and Jason’s journey while planning this bridezilla wedding, and how they each have their imperfections to deal with but their journey makes them realize that they can overcome anything and any impediments. You get a chance to see the progression of their love. Claudia Burgoa’s books will be salacious with an engrossing love story, interesting plots and dialogues with strong conflicts, artfully developed main characters, and they will keep you reading to the end to find out what happened—they will pique your interest and drawn you in. The storylines are fluid, and they will pique your interest. HIGHLY recommend this book.
I am so happy to get Jason’s story after reading Maybe Later. This was a great book with great characters. This was a book that had me interested from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down. This book tells Jason and Eileen’s story. They make a great couple. It was an entertaining read that I would highly recommend.
Then He Happened is a slow burning, fun and quirky read. I read it all in an afternoon. The characters were likeable, and they had smoking hot chemistry. But they also had amusing dialogue that had me laughing and smiling. Secondary characters were great too. I liked how the Spearman family interact with eachother. I enjoyed reading Jackson and Eileen’s story!
I absolutely LOVED Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa
This is Jason and Eileen’s story. A perfectly crafted slow-burn story.
The chemistry between Jason and Eileen was off the charts. I really enjoyed watching their attraction grow to more.
This author continues to amaze me with her ability to craft stories that will captivate yuppy from beginning to the end. I highly recommend Then He Happened.
Then He Happened is cute, funny, quirky and eye opening for both of the lead characters. Jason is a playboy that will not settle down. He wants carefree, freedom and occasional female companionship with his rules in place. Eileen is a compassionate, brilliant creative woman that has always put herself second and unfortunately for her she is always a low priority on her families list too. Jason and Eileen are thrown together haphazardly by the upcoming shotgun wedding of Jason’s cousin Merek and Eileen’s selfish and childish sister Charlie . It starts out as a working relationship that soon turns to friendship , companionship and the realization that they each bring out the best in one another. I so loved them and relished in watching then grow. The crazy predicaments that they allowed themselves to get thrown in to made them realize who and what they were capable of and what they would do for another person . There was so many points when I wanted to just shake Eileen and make her realize she was worth so much more than the way she let others treat her !!! Thank you Jason for making her realize that she is all that and more !!

Fun, flirty, a little bit of a crazy family, and characters we already know and love. Does it get any better? Because I really don’t think so. And I absolutely adore Eileen and Jason, adore!! They’re definitely made for each other after reading this crazy adventure!
Constantly in awe of this talented author. Claudia gives us another wonderful story that has all the feels and all the giddiness you need. Then He Happened is a slow burn tale tale that leaves you happy and satisfied. Jason is the ultimate playboy and Eileen is the girl who just wants to be noticed once in a while. Eileen has never been gussied over by her family and friends, she is overlooked and forgotten lots. When she meets Jason she begins to feel like she is worthy of his attention and just like Jason wants to feel something more again but is afraid of getting hurt again
Loved the banter and the pace of the relationship. He just doesn’t change over night which makes this more realistic. The whole story is beautifully written and I loved every word.
I loved this story. This is a fun quirky story. I laughed and I cried and points. The book had a great flow in the story. The characters had chemistry for days and alot of patiences for Charlie.
What to know who Charlie is check out this 5 star book by Claudia.
This was a fun read where we see things from a dual POV, James is bitter about relationships and nothing to do with them or be around them while Eileen doesn’t have time for relationships and just wants her family to think of her for once. There are characters you will lover ie James and Eileen and others you will hate ie Charlie and some you want to know more about ie Jossie. There are plenty of laughs, time you want to smack people on the back of their head, scream at the pages and encourage characters to take the next step and all of this makes for one great read.
This was a fun, heartwarming, and emotional read.
“Rule number one of being Jason Spearman. You don’t develop crushes.”
So, we have Jason Spearman who is relationship-shy after having had his heart broken. However, there’s no mistaking how caring he really is when it comes to his family. We also have Eileen McBean, who is almost an afterthought to her family. She’s the middle child and works hard to be seen. Yet, she is the responsible one and everyone looks to her to be the fixer of all things.
“Eileen is flipping my world upside down. She makes me go against my better judgement.”
When Jason’s cousin (Marek) knocks up Eileen’s sister (Charlie), they’ve got the shotgun wedding from hell to organise, and the task falls to Jason and Eileen to get the impossible done. Thrown into each other’s company, they have an instant connection that develops into friendship, and then into something much deeper and unexpected.
“He’s the only thing that’s made me happy in a really long time.”
I loved Jason and Eileen’s rapport. They had so much in common, and the support they showed each other really warmed my heart. Jason is not as cynical as he’d like people to believe – underneath his playboy exterior still beats a heart that wants to love and be loved. I just melted at his concern and care for Eileen. Eileen is smart, sassy, and upbeat. She is more independent than either of her siblings, but my heart broke for everything that she’d put with from her parents and her sister. She has one hell of a forgiving heart and patience in spades. However, through everything, I enjoyed her positive and practical attitude to life.
“I would give her anything she asks right at this moment. My fortune, my heart, and my entire life.”
Beyond their friendship, they were sizzling together – I thrilled at their urgency and their physical attraction was addictive. And, OMG, let’s talk about those vows during Marek and Charlie’s wedding?! They were the stuff of romantic dreams come true! *swoons*
I hope to see more stories about the Spearman clan in the future! And, special mention to Jason’s assistant, Jossie. God! I want to be her when I grow up! LOL
I really wanted to like this book, as I have enjoyed past books by this author. But this one seemed very uneven to me. I liked the premise that the couple (Jason and Eileen) meet over the shared misery of helping family members plan a wedding. But the story seemed uneven and disjointed. I never got the full feeling of Jason being the cad that he was supposed to be. And to be perfectly frank, I couldn’t understand why both of them didn’t tell their relatives to take a flying leap – they both took way too much abuse to be believable, and the hideousness of the relatives took over the romance. I loved getting to know Jason (Jack’s brother from Maybe Later)! Who knew this smart ass younger brother would be a secret romantic? And, poor Emmeline and what she has to put up with her family…ugh! Emmeline’s and Jason’s quicks complement each other and they really are perfect for each other.
This book is absolutely incredible! The way Jason and Eileen’s relationship develops was so sweet and really drew me in. I binged this book straight through because I could not put it down. It takes place after Maybe Later but you won’t be lost if you don’t read that one first (though I do recommend reading it anyway!). Burgoa is quickly becoming one of my go-to, one-click authors!
You have to meet Jason & Eileen! I fell in love with them They just fit together so perfect and their story is beautiful! I have a feeling we will be reading more about them in future books!
Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa was a sweet story with all the feels. Jason and Eileen were two characters who were a bit broken and lost. They end up having to put together a wedding for her older sister and his cousin. Even though her family continuously forgets about her or use her for their own gain, she is there to help them. Jason was hurt by a woman he thought was the one and left him sour against relationships.
Jason and Eileen had amazing chemistry. But Jason was not interested in a relationship after the heartbreak he suffered. But something about Eileen pulls at him. Even with all Eileen suffered from her family, she was caring and strong. They were absolutely amazing together. I enjoyed reading Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa. It was a fun and sweet and a bit emotional. I loved the characters and their journey so much.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This should have been titled Then She happened. Considering this was Jason meeting the woman who would put him back from what happened at his own tragic wedding years ago.
A slow burner story, if 15 days is slow, mostly because these two characters getting together was only due to their respective family members ineptness and cluelessness. With her sister and his cousin begging for help and handouts, a weeding is to happen within this time-frame and as sister of the bride Eileen the middle child and responsible one gets saddled, while Jason is a pushover for his cousin and helps him because you know..family.
Cue these two meeting an planning the best wedding with a bridezilla, family members on her side who forgets that the day of the wedding is also special to Eileen too for two reasons.
A fun read, but surely bring out your emotions regarding family. I was incensed with Charlie as the bride and even more so her family for enabling her behaviour constantly, even Eileen.
Very interesting Secondary characters especially Josie and it was interesting to see |Jackson and his other half as well.
