An easy short read.
Ms. Aston has given us a story that makes you feel good & to believe in love at first sight; you close the book on the final page & you leave with a smile on your face.
The story has been reviewed very nicely in several reviews – I will add the story is full of fun, flirting, & wonderful family members without angst & little drama. Major Adam Ashbury, returns home from the war to discover he is now the new Duke of Durham & without a clue as to what that entails. Lady Thea de Wolfe comes to London for her first season but unfortunately breaks her leg & cannot attend the festivities.
Adam & Thea meet at the funeral of is cousin & are instantly drawn to one another & after Adam gets settled as the duke, he has a house party & Thea attends her first society function with her sister & brother-in-law as chaperones. Their waltz to a happily ever after has a few bumps but it is a very sweet read & I highly recommend it to all historical romance readers.
A lovely story of the heart that made me believe in love all over again. Alexa Aston, with her beautiful writing style and character creation always make me feel I am right there looking down on the story unfolding. She truly has a gift and her regency tales have captured my imagination, having me anxious for the next one as I have turned the last page.
Major Adam Ashbury has gained the title of Duke of Durham, one he had not ever given any thought to but with the death of his reckless cousin and then his devil of an uncle it happened very quickly. He was really not prepared, but he did know one thing for certain. He wanted to find love and quickly marry and have the family he had never been part of with his upbringing. Can I say I adored Adam? I mean truly adored him and his longing for love?
He had spotted Lady Thea de Wolfe at his cousin’s funeral and was immediately drawn to her. Love at first sight maybe, almost? She wanted love as well, after seeing her brother so happy.
As these two are brought together, can they find a happy ever after together?
A truly wonderful read that made my heart smile and I know it will your’s too! Do not miss this or any in this series. Sigh…
Such a sweet and romantic read. Absolutely loved Thea and Adam! Highly recommend this beautiful series, with great storylines and wonderful characters. Books that leave the reader satisfied and smiling. Definitely look forward to other works by this author.
Thea missed her almost all of her first season because she broke her leg. Adam has returned from the war to find out he is the new Duke of Durham not knowing how to proceed or how to be a Duke his long lost aunt arrives to help him. He had seen Thea previously and was attracted to her so his aunt arranged a house party so that they could get to know each other. This was such a sweet story. Both Thea and Adam were meant to be together. Thea was in a previous book and we got to see a little of her in that one so it was really nice to see her get her own story, but you don’t need to read that one as both are stand alone books. I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it!
Major Adam Ashbury hasn’t been home from the wars for very long. He has already inherited twice. Now he finds himself a Duke without the slightest idea how to be one.
Lady Thea de Wolfe came to London to enjoy her sister’s season that she should have been sharing if she hadn’t broken her leg. She’s now fully recovered but the season is ending.
This is a short but very sweet historical romance, with fabulous characters. I have met a few of them before in the previous books in the series. All the books are good fun and very easy reading.
Very enjoyable.
Lady Thea de Wolfe missed her first London Season, due to a broken leg. House bound for the entire season; she has been told that kissing is important and if she likes a man, she should take it. Of course, she found nothing out about kissing as her season never happened. Major Adam Ashbury arrives home from fighting the French and discovers that his cousin and uncle have both died and he is now the Duke of Durham. Just how is a military man that knows only how to fight and nothing of running an estate, suppose to prepare to be a Duke? Not only that but he is recovering from wounds and suffers from terrible nightmares of losing men and fighting. Adam first meets Lady Thea at a funeral and are thrown together at a house party where a growing attraction seems to be brewing. Alexa Aston has wonderful characters; a wonderful romantic story line and the readers must keep turning the pages to find out the conclusion. Thank you, Alexa, for your wonderful deWolfes of Esterley Castle.
