Zahra needs a man… or it’s end game. Unable to find a mate, her dragon is asleep, and the curvy dragoness is running out of time. In desperation, she makes an appointment with the Altorian council for permission to seek a mate off world. But before she can speak to the council, tall, blonde and handsome storms in, kisses her like there’s no tomorrow and carries her off on the wing to his … her off on the wing to his mountain-top lair. She’s been kidnapped… by a wyvern of all things. Not just any wyvern, but Roc, the king they claim they don’t have…
Dragons and wyverns don’t get on. Like, ever. So why does she want to climb her sexy captor like a tree, and what will he do when he finds out she’s the dragon king’s sister?
Roc needs to be king to save his people from themselves. Because they’re dumb…
Which means he needs to talk to the Altorian council… even though he’d like nothing more than to roast them where they stand. Barely out of a boring meeting and he has his arms wrapped around the tiniest, curviest, most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. One breath and he knows she’s his mate. One kiss and his heart belongs to her… forever. Instinct kicks in and he carries her off to his lair. Alone, away from everyone, she’ll have no option but to fall for him.
Just one problem, she’s the sister of his greatest enemy… and he wants her back.
NB – This title was previously released as ‘Dumb as a Roc’. It has been minorly edited but not extended or revised.

A different twist to a dragon story. This story grabs you from the very first chapter. I love it when characters end up saving each other! It was previously released as Dumb As Roc, and my review stands the same even with the new title and slight revisions. Razzy is damaged and on the edge of giving up. I love that she’s not desperate just kind of accepting that this might be it for her. Roc is a great character too, with greatness thrust upon him, as Shakespeare might say, (As You Like It) I enjoyed reading their story as they discovered what each had that complimented the other. I stayed enraptured by their story throughout and was kind of depressed when it ended. I volunteered to read an advanced copy but will still buy a copy since I loved it, and I’m a fan.
CUTE, SEXY, & DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: The Wyvern King’s Mate
Series: Altorian Mates
Author: Mina Carter
Designation: Originally Published As Part of the Paranormal Dating Agency Kindle Worlds Collection, Novella Length, Standalone, No Cliffhanger
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
**I own the original edition of this book which was entitled Dumb As A Roc and published in 2017 as part of the Paranormal Dating Agency Kindle Worlds Collection. The author states in the blurb it has been slightly re-edited but has not been revised or lengthened.
I’ve been hooked on Mina Carter’s work for years and adore everything she writes, and The Wyvern King’s Mate is no exception! There are so many things I enjoyed about this story. It’s a well crafted, fast-paced, fun-filled, easy to follow standalone paranormal tale filled with passion, romance, humor, danger, and agonizing angst. But never fear, despite the heart-wrenching drama, this story does end with a very satisfying happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. As an admitted PDA addict, it’s obvious how much I enjoy the premise for the series with Gerri Wilder, matchmaker extraordinaire, testing her matchmaking skills and working her magic in every story. But without an engaging cast of characters, it would all be for naught. Never fear, my lovelies; Carter delivers in spades with selfless dragon shifter Zahra and reclusive wyvern shifter Roc, giving us a deliciously cute spin on the age-old enemies to lovers trope. I fell in love with the two protagonists. Zahra is beautiful and brave, while Roc is domineering and, shall we say, less than charming, especially when he goes all caveman, and I do mean that quite literally. lol… Zahra and Roc are simply perfect together! No spoilers from me but I will say this… A surly, solitary wyvern shifter who never wanted to be king and doesn’t want a mate-check! A lovely, courageous dragon shifter who gave everything to save a life and as a result, must now face her own death unless she can find her mate-check! A matchmaker determined to succeed-check! Danger, drama, and angst-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, and dreamy romance-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this story? No, I LOVED it! This one really tugged at my heartstrings! I laughed and cried but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, but only for adult readers since it does contain several steamy, dreamy love scenes. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
