Lexi Ryan brings us a story of a single father, a widower and his daughter’s nanny.
Nicole takes place as a nanny after her sister admits she’s pregnant with Nicole’s fiancé’s baby. She met Ethan on her first day in the city, and they sort of hooked up. Well, he had to leave before they did that.
Ethan didn’t expect Nicole to be the newly hired nanny and he certainly didn’t expect the chemistry between them. Ethan had deep issues and most of the time, I was wondering if this book will turn out to be some kind of twisted thriller. We don’t get explanations till the end.
Nicole gets along with Ethan’s daughter pretty well, but she hates lying to Ethan about who she is. I liked her from the beginning because she could have said she’s her sister when Ethan’s mum had an interview with her but she was honest and I respect that. She couldn’t tell Ethan though because of several reasons (don’t want to spoil here 😉 ).
I don’t read a lot of single parent’s stories but I admit, I’m starting to really like them. I truly recommend this book, I’m very curious about other Ethan’s siblings and their stories so I already added the next two on my TBR.
5 stars.

3.5 Switched Stars. Having an identical twin has its advantages and definite disadvantages. It’s fun to switch places when you’re in middle and high school. It’s not so fun when you switch places when you’re in your twenties. Especially when the switch puts you into a runaway bride situation. Literally, at the “I Do” is when Nicole finds out her twin sister, Veronica, is pregnant with her grooms baby. ???? So, Nic does the only sensible thing. She runs, grabs her sister’s ID/plane ticket, and high tails it out of town and to the job that’s waiting for Veronica in Michigan.
Well, that may not have been the original plan, but that’s what ends up happening. Nicole ends up perpetuating more deception than she is comfortable with, but soothes her conscience with the knowledge that’s it’s all for the greater good. Like all deceptions, it backfires. Even the best of intentions doesn’t make it all right. If Ethan hadn’t already been burned by deceptions before he may have been a bit more understanding, but you’ll have to read about that yourself.
The Wrong Kind of Love is an entertaining, quick story that isn’t likely to happen in real life but makes a good story just the same.
Nic needs a break, life keeps kicking her down. To have the people closest to her be the ones that constantly hurt her is depressing. She is desperately wanting to be part of a healthy family. To finally find people that appreciate all she has to give by being herself. And I was really impressed with her integrity and her need to always aim to be honest. Ethan is a sweetheart but all that care is hidden under this broody personality. He is so closed off to the idea of letting any woman in that he is letting life pass him by. He is wasting all his potential.
This story shows you the ugly in people controlled by their basic fears. Like Ethan’s fear of being hurt again after giving his heart a chance. But Nic is perfect for him and his daughter. It’s like she brings light into his world. She will teach him that love hurts but there is no reason to run from it because the reward is far greater than the risk. And he in return will bring her into the family that will love her for herself.
I really liked this book and these characters. I especially like the heroine. She was spunky, smart and experienced real personal growth.
I loved this book. It started out in a different way, and you root for the hero and heroine to get together and you see the obstacles that feel real out in front of them and you hope they figure out how to hurtle them. He is still dealing with issues from his past, she is dealing with issues from her present. It was a great book.
I didn’t like it at first but now I’m reading the whole series. This book just draws you in and you want to know what happens next.
Every time I read a Lexi Ryan book I come away with the same feeling.
Satisfaction.
Every single time.
I go into them knowing exactly what I’m going to get. A story with characters who feel like real life people. A story that has just enough drama without being crazy, over the top and implausible. A story that will deliver enough angst to wet my appetite but still leave happy and content at its finish.
Every single time.
Nic is a girl we have all known at one point or another. A people-pleaser. Always sets her own needs and wants aside for someone else. For Nic, it’s always in the hope of forming a loving and stable family, something she missed out on growing up.
The missteps and betrayals and lies that lead her to Ethan’s family will be her biggest life’s hurdle. Because with him, she has found that family, but her relationship with them was not built on a stable foundation and it could crumble around her at any moment.
Ethan has some commitment and trust issues. Well earned ones. I actually loved him for them. He’s a great dad and puts his kid first. I also loved how he came to terms with things. He is a pretty realistic dude and wasn’t afraid of some self assessment.
The Wrong Kind of Love was the perfect mix of sweet and heartbreaking. It’s also full of some amazing side characters who’s stories I can’t wait to explore!
A sexy, single dad read full of romance and angst. Two broken characters fated to meet with a whole cast of family and friends who encourage their romantic journey. Loved all the characters, although I wished Nic had a little more self confidence. What a great start to a new series! I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
They say love born in a lie is the wrong kind of love. But sometimes, some lies, hurt less than the truth.
Nic knows betrayal first hand, the two people who she cared the most betrayed her in the worst way. Now, she needs to run away to forget about all the hurt her sister and ex fiancé caused her.
Nic finds herself alone in a new town, luckily for her this is the place where her twin sister was going to move and she can start from there. Problem is, she has to lie to her future boss and she is not up to that but at the end, she agrees to help this lady and her family.
Ethan’s number 1 priority is his daughter. He is not looking for a serious relationship because he is not looking for a replacement, either a girlfriend for him or a mom for his daughter.
But when Ethan sees Nic for the first time, he knows she is different and he needs to know if this is just sexual tension because he is not looking for more.
Surprise is, Nic appears at his front door when he is waiting for the new nanny. All this chemistry and sexual tension is there and it could get worse being under the same roof.
I loved Nic, Ethan.Their story is hot and sweet, full of feelings that kept me reading until I finished it. I loved every Jackson sibling and can’t wait to reas their stories and know more about Nic, Ethan and of course, Lilly.
THE WRONG KIND OF LOVE is the first instalment in Lexi Ryan’s contemporary, adult THE BOYS OF JACKSON HARBOR erotic, romance series focusing on the Jackson siblings. This is thirty-three year old, single father Dr. Ethan Jackson, and twenty-four year old, nanny Nicole ‘Nic’ Maddox’s story line
Told from dual first person perspectives (Nic and Ethan ) THE WRONG KIND OF LOVE follows Nicole Maddox in the wake of the wedding that never happened. Discovering, on the day of her wedding, that her fiancé knocked up her twin sister Veronica, Alabama born and bred Nicole Maddox heads to places unknown only to land in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her sister’s ID, and a job as a nanny to a widowed doctor. But an almost one-night stand finds our heroine face to face with her new employer, a man who isn’t happy about what might have been. What ensues is the tempestuous relationship and building romance between Nic and Ethan, and the potential fall-out as Nic keeps secret her true identity to help a woman who is struggling to move forward with her life.
Nicole Maddox is struggling for some direction in life but with the loss of her fiancé, her future and potentially her twin sister, Nicole accepts the position as nanny to a six year old girl, a precious child who is unaware of the animosity between her father and our heroine. Dr. Ethan Jackson struggles with issues of trust including the betrayal by the woman with whom he was once in love. When his mother announces a bucket list vacation, our hero is desperate for child care and accepts his mother’s help in hiring the nanny with whom he will fall in love.
The relationship between Nic and Ethan begins as an almost one-night stand but Ethan is quick to judgement when he discovers that his daughter’s new nanny is the woman he found drunk at his brother’s bar. Unable to look beyond the heart break and pain of Nicole’s shattered heart, Ethan places an end date of their personal and professional relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate but I take issue with the use of a certain four-letter word, regardless of the situation or context involved.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Nicole’s sister Veronica; her ex-fiance Marcus; Nic and Veronica’s friend Teagan Chopra : Ethan’s daughter Lily; his sister Shay, and their brothers Jake, Levi, Brayden, Carter, their mother Kathleen Jackson and bartender Ava. Ethan’s brothers are easy going and fun. Ava and Jake’s story is next.
THE WRONG KIND OF LOVE is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love that introduces the Jackson family of Jackson Harbor, Michigan. The premise is fast paced, entertaining and heart breaking; the characters are energetic and charismatic; the romance is seductive and hot.
It’s only book one and I’m in love with this series and the Jackson family! When Nic as her friends call her experiences the most humiliating thing at her wedding she runs. She grabs the only car available and heads to the airport but all she has on her belongs to her twin sister Veronica so she hops on a plane.
Ethan is exhausted but he has to meet his brothers for a meeting in his brother Jakes bar but he would rather meet with the woman having tequila shots. Nic is trying to drown her sorrows when Ethan stops a guy from hitting on her which ends up cheering her up but Ethan gets called away before she even knows his name.
Next day Ethan meets his new nanny..Nic
This story dealt with a lot of different issues and yet was fun but heartbreaking, and I am curious to see if Nic and Ethan have a continued story in any of the new books.

The Wrong Kind of Love is the right kind of story. Lame pun but the story makes up for it. Jackson Harbor makes up for it. And if for some reason that wasn’t enough, I have 5 Jackson men that will entertain, flirt, and seduce you. Not to mention a family that steals your heart!
The Wrong Kind of Love reels you in with an unforgettable blurb. I mean seriously, her sister pukes on her bouquet and mentions the baby daddy is the groom. That is some world class assholery right there from her very own twin. Unforgettable. Mind bogglingly unforgettable. Also the perfect reason to run away…to Jackson Harbor.
I can’t wait to watch these testosterone laden hotties crumble one by one. Jackson Harbor is the perfect setting. The Jacksons are the perfect characters. I just need the rest of their stories.
I absolutely love a romance book filled with angst, passion and drama and this one does not disappoint. I LOVED IT!!! Ethan and Nicole are characters that are unforgettable and their story is one that is well written. There are definitely heartfelt moments in this read. The back and forth banter between the brothers were amusing and I enjoyed a few laughs along the way. Lilly was so sweet and adorable that you couldn’t help but love her. This story was a sweet romance read with just the right amount of steamy scenes and passion. I cant wait to read the next book in this series.
Nicole should be on top of the world. She is about to marry the man of her dreams, but when she finds out that her sister is having her soon to be husband’s baby this turns into more like a nightmare. Running away leads Nic down a path of more lies and deception when she impersonates her sister to keep a job. A job that leads her to finally finding the family and love she deserves. But when Ethan finds out who she really is will the romance end or can he understand why the lies were in place? With beautifully written characters that the reader falls in love with very quickly and a storyline that had me laughing as well as sighing this was a great read. I look forward to reading more in this series.
This was a very entertaining read. Loved the characters.
Loved this one from Lexi Ryan! Can’t wait to read more of the Jackson family! Tender, steamy and totally swoon worthy!
I didn’t want to put this one down. I was so wrapped up in Ethan and Nic’s story that I couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to unfold. I was a bit worried at the start because I did NOT feel comfortable with Nic lying about who she was but once she met Kathleen, I felt better. I think the author did an amazing job showing two very different sides of depression and handled Ethan’s circumstances beautifully. I’m very much looking forward to getting the rest of the family’s stories!
Love born in a lie is the wrong kind of love.
This is is definitely one of those “feel all the feels” books!! So good!! In fact, this is going in my favorites of 2018 folder! Now, I have never been one of those reviewers who rewrites the whole summary…so unnecessary. Instead, I think it’s more important to let you know how this book affected me.
Well, the characters in the book were written extremely well. It was so easy to get caught up in the moment of how the character was feeling. Whether it was Nic (Nicole) feeling traumatized by being betrayed by her sister and fiancé, or Ethan feeling swept away by his attraction to her from the moment he first saw her. I felt in tune to each and every one on the character’s emotions. I love that! Fabulously written characters!
The physical attraction between the two of them was instant, but the falling in love took some time to get to know each other. Beautifully done! But the two characters had so much baggage, and that made nothing easy. They had to work for this relationship.
Lilly, Ethan’s daughter. She was a sweet character. Seeing her relationship with her father was endearing, he was so dedicated to being a good father. She adored him. But she also adores her grandmother, Ethan’s mother, Kathleen. She’s loved and spoiled by all her Uncles and her Aunt Shayleigh or Shay.
Ethan’s large family is wonderful! I’m in love with them already, and I can’t wait to read all their stories! It’s nice because we get a little peak at who they all are in this book. I’m wondering who the next book will be about!! This is a great start to the series!!
This is a MUST READ!! Put it on your TBR NOW!! You WON’T want to miss it!!

A great read! 2 people not looking for love, find sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants… hooked from the get go and enjoy every minute till the end. Loved the chemistry, and the supporting characters. Can’t wait to read their stories!
“She quotes Shakespeare, has skin like porcelain, and kisses like she was born to do it. Whoever hurt her is an idiot.”
WOW!! This series is going to be a must read for me, these characters are pure gold!! The Jackson Brothers and even the Jackson sister are a multitude of snark, hotness, and solid entertainment!! This one had so many feels, twists and turns, and romance for days!! A sweet and sultry 2nd chancer, I giggled repeatedly as they danced around their mounds of baggage and walls the size of skyscrapers. I completely adored their slow burn, their attempts to fight the undeniable attraction simmering between them, even though the secrets were building to keep them apart. The vulnerability of these characters attempting to rebuild their lives was enchanting, and I fell in love right along with them!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“I didn’t think I’d miss it at all. But last night, looking at Nic like that woke some dark, long-dormant corner of my heart. I found myself aching for this thing I told myself I didn’t want again. Company. Companionship. Love.”
