I have been a fan of this author for quite some time. There is not a single book I have read by her that has not emotionally ripped me to pieces and then put me back together. She is an amazing word wizard and story-teller. She not only can weave a story perfectly thru a journey but she does it with a straightforward prose that makes her stories relatable and likeable. They are ordinary every-day characters with extra ordinary depth and strength.
I have this running joke about Lexi’s work … Be prepared, her feels have feelings. Every single time, the emotion she awakens from within is mind-blowing. One minute you’re reading along a journey of two people and then BAM. That’s how it feels. You just don’t see it coming and it is just glorious. She is unpredictable in her predictability. I say predictability because I’ve read enough of her books that I know what’s coming yet she surprises me every time!
The story of Ethan and Nicole hit me in the gut from almost the very beginning. SO much so that I almost stopped reading. There are things/circumstances that happen in this book that I have personally struggled thru and reading their journey brought a lot of my own emotional upheaval to light and I’m really picky about the stories I allow that to evoke out of me. You want to know why I kept going? Because I knew it would be done right. I knew the struggle and #feels would be exposed and weaved into the story properly. And I wasn’t wrong. In the end, yes, I was emotionally spent but my heart so damn happy for Ethan and Nic. Their journey was riddled with secrets and lies that all came from a place of necessity. Even the secrets and lies had depth!
This book was not just a story of two people finding love. It was a story of growth and acceptance, new beginnings and opening up, forgiveness and strength. It’s a story of family and friendship. Best of all, it’s a book that introduces us to a wonderful family with strength and perseverance and I cannot wait to read more!
Holy crap! The Boys of Jackson Harbor are hot, sexy, tatted and all amazing. Ethan is so broody but still irresistible. I love this family. Can’t wait for more books in this series. I love Ava, Shay, Levi, Carter, Jake and Nic. Veronica even grew on me at the end.
Lexi Ryan is a new to me author and I can tell you this is just the first of many I plan on reading from her. Nicole Maddox has suffered the ultimate betrayal. Ethan Jackson has lost his wife and is raising his 6 year old daughter, Lily, as a single parent. Both so sad it’s felt in each passage and but the attraction to each other is palpable. Fighting demons and each other, it’s heartbreaking. If they’d just give in, they could make each other so happy. The story just flows. The build to the moment they succumb to those feelings is delightful. The anticipation of the conflict makes your heart race. You know it is coming and it’s going to hurt but you keep reading because in the end the resolution will be oh so good and satisfying. I love the maturity of the characters and their no nonsense approach. Importance is placed on family and love, acceptance and forgiveness. All those emotions come through the writing. The family dynamic and introduction of the rest of the brothers that will be featured in the series is enough to leave you wanting more. And let’s not forget Lily. She’s precious. The Wrong Kind of Love is the first in the The Boys of Jackson Harbor series and I can tell you, if it’s the wrong kind of love it’s never felt so right.
Lexi Ryan does a great job building a storyline between Ethan and Nicole, the wrong kind of love seems to be the right kind of good nature romance.
It all starts with Nicole’s big day, where she is ready to settle down and start a family, only to find out that her groom started without her since he already knocked up her twin sister. This leaves Nicole with the horrifying reality that she will not be married and needs to leave the town she grew up in so she doesn’t have to face the embarrassment of being the talk of the town.
Nicole goes on an adventure by taking her twin’s new job in a small town in Michigan called Jackson Harbor, on her first night there she decided to drown her sorrows in lots of tequila and that only leads to a interesting encounter with a hot stranger. Though all this sounds cliché it only gets more complicated with the choices Nicole makes and the promise that she is supposed to keep.
The interesting dynamic that Nicole and Ethan have keeps you glued to the book wanting to know what will happen and how will key people react to all the secrets being hidden. On top of all these secrets lies a great chemistry between Nicole and Ethan. This whole forbidden love thing that goes on through the book only adds in spiking up the sexual tension between Ethan and Nicole and once that snaps there is no one who can say that these two individual aren’t perfect for each other.
My Only ISSUE!!! I felt that Lexi was to lenient on how she handled the situation between Nicole and Veronica, I would have slapped my sister if she ever did or acted like Veronica acted towards Nicole throughout this story.
This book has lots of good nature banter between family, a adorable 6 yr. old who steals everyone’s heart, noisy town folks, and hot sex scenes. I would definitely recommend this book to my fellow book lovers and I will be patiently waiting to read the rest of the Jackson family stories.

I would endure bitter, cold weather for just a small taste of Ethan Jackson!
Goodness gracious….The Wrong Kind of Love is all kinds of RIGHT! It’s sweet, salacious, and heartbreakingly beautiful, wrapped up in a to-die-for cover!
This love story takes you on the wild ride of secrets, lies, and betrayal, while further enticing you with the sinfully provocative relationship between boss and employee. This story isn’t your common hot daddy/nanny story, but a romance that challenges the character’s ability to look past what’s right in front of them, and look deeper into the soul of a person.
I loved this book! The storyline, characters, and intensely raw emotions were a stunning blend that simply radiate off the pages! An absolute must-read!!!
5 Stars!
The Wrong Kind of Love by Lexi Ryan is the first book in her brand new series, The Boys of Jackson Harbor . Told in dual POV between Nicole, the twin running away from an almost wedding disaster, and Ethan, the hot guy in the bar AND her new boss.
While the synopsis is funny in an epic disaster kind of way, the overall emotion of the book is romance, angst, and love with a side of humor. Nicole is shaken to the core by her sister’s betrayal. A little less shaken by the betrayal of her almost husband. Leaving the state with her sisters purse instead of her own by mistake, she ends up taking her sisters flight to Michigan leaving her gossipy town of Jeffe, Alabama in her dust.
Ethan has been at a standstill since his wife’s death. When his mother insists on helping him hire a nanny so she can go on vacation, a lifelong dream of travelling through Europe, he relents. He lets her handle all the details. When he sees a beautiful woman at his brothers bar one night, her eyes looking just as sad as he feels inside something clicks for him with her like it hasn’t once since his wife passed.
Pretending to be her twin sister, taking the job that Veronica had lined up to nanny for three months, Nicole is beyond shocked when he mystery man from the bar that brought her pleasure beyond anything she’s ever known turns out to be her new boss.
Well written and well paced this was a wonderful story or love, healing, family, and fate. Next up: Straight Up Love and Dirty, Reckless Love. Enjoy!

This story is sweet, sexy and a touch of naughty. Trust, fear and insecurity issues are tested between two broken souls that are trying to find their ways/ find themselves. There is just enough angst to keep the fluidity flowing, enough humor to crack the drama and the amount of intense sexual chemistry was off the charts hot!

“I’ve been suffocating with grief for three years, and when I touch you, I can breathe again.”

A sexy, sweet and sultry contemporary romance about love, loss, betrayal, second chances and forgiveness…
Lexi Ryan is a completely new author to me, and The Wrong Kind of Love is book #1 in her Boys of Jackson Harbor series. To say that I absolutely loved this story would be an understatement. Everything from the characters to the plot to the writing, even the pacing, was spot on for me. It just ticked all my boxes. It had me completely enthralled from beginning to end and even after. I had a major book hangover after this one, I could not shake this story and my brain was completely overtaken by beautiful, sassy Nic and sexy, broody Ethan. I am telling you now: invest in some sort of chin strap because your jaw will constantly be dragging on the floor.
I found the plot for The Wrong Kind of Love original and fresh. Yes the whole runaway bride trope has been done before, however couple that with sleeping with the help aspect and the single dad thing…it was just the biggest bookgasm for me. I was excited from the first page to the last page. The plot was brilliantly executed and beautifully depveloed together with the characters. It is just a romance addicts ultimate fix. It’s a freaking dream! This is the sort of book that has you cursing your reading speed all the way through—even when you’re reading it too fast, it’s not fast enough…and vice versa. I found myself real laughing out loud at times, and then on the brink of tears at others, whilst in a constant state of swoon. This is such a warm and enticing and sweet read. It’s addictive and at times awing. It’s fanciful, yet raw. It’s just brilliant.
The characters in this story are very real. I found them easy to empathise with and even easier to love. Firstly, Nic is very much the sweet and wonderful girl next door with a whole lot of sass, wit and resilience. She’s also very forgiving…too forgiving in fact. I mean the whole situation with her ex is just something else altogether, something I could not forgive. Saying that, it’s just what make Nic—Nic. Ethan on the other hand is really guarded, mostly down to his past, and because of his daughter. He really is the loving and protective father Lily needs. HIs ability to trust is in complete contrast to Nic’s. He is your dreamy Prince Charming doused in reality and life’s unkindnesses. If that makes sense. I really loved him and I could not get enough of him. In fact, I found them the perfectly balanced act. They really are a match made in book heaven. Their chemistry is off the charts which really amped up the sexual tension and angst throughout the book. I felt like an excitable puppy all the way through this story. It was just eeeeeeeeek!
All in all, The Wrong Kind of Love ticked all my boxes. It made me swoon and drool and tear up and laugh…it made me fall head over heels in love with love. I really cannot wait for the next books in this series. I am in love with each and every one of the Jackson brothers. The little taste I got of each of them just made me curious, anxious and desperate to get to know them all of them on a personal level. I just want more…more…MORE!
This book. So. Freaking. Good.
So good in fact that I read the entire thing while in the middle of moving. I propped my kindle up and kept flying through the pages while blindly opening boxes. I couldn’t stop reading! There’s just the right amount of angst to keep you on edge but not wanting to ripped your hair out along with some serious heat and adorable sweetness. It’s the best of everything in Romance wrapped up in one magnificent book!
My heart hurt for Nic so much. She was put through one of the worst betrayals I could imagine, but her resilience and strength shine bright. One of the most kindhearted characters I’ve ever read, she’s also incredibly real. She knows herself well and continues on shining her beautiful light throughout the world no matter the circumstances. Ethan has the brooding down like a professional, but for very real and very understandable reasons. Nic was just what he needed in his life and together they’re absolutely incredible.

Nicole’s life gets turned upside on what is supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Betrayed and hurt, Nicole finds herself in a strange town, with no idea what she’s going to do. When a sexy stranger comes to her rescue, things start getting hot and heavy between them.
Backed into a corner Nicole does what a lot of people would do. Wanting to stay in Jackson Harbor, Nicole finds herself accepting a job that was meant for her sister. Of course Nic has no idea what she’s walking in to and certainly isn’t expecting her new boss Dr Ethan Jackson to be her sexy stranger from her first night in town. Now she’s stuck in an impossible situation. Does she come clean and lose the new life she’s trying to build or does she keep everyone’s (and her own) secrets and carry on with the lie?
This is the first book in Lexi Ryan’s The Boys of Jackson Harbor series and it gets off to a brilliant start. I loved Ethan and Nicole’s story and getting to meet the other Jackson boys was an added bonus and wets the appetite for their books.
My Love is Enough…..
Wow! That quote above says it all. This is the first book by Lexi Ryan I have read and I loved it! I will be reading more from this author.
This is the first book in a new series The Boys of Jackson Harbor. What a great book to introduce the series!
This is the story of Ethan and Nicole, which she goes by Nic and Ethan thinks she is her twin sister Veronica. This book had so many surprises, it kept me wanting to keep turning the pages to find out more.
Nicole is dealt such a craptacular blow when the book opens, she is unbearably hurt by her twin and her fiance. She runs, and finds herself in Jackson Harbor. She is so giving, so loyal and because of her childhood she grapples with issues that many of us have. She reinvents herself with this move and to see her grow and become even stronger for it was so encouraging! The story of her tattoo is amazing!
Ethan is a single dad, his wife passed on and you never really know the whole truth until much farther in the book and it shows the devastation it causes throughout the whole family. He is scarred by this and is afraid to move on for the sake of his daughter, but with Nicole he learns to move on and be happy again. That is what is so beautiful in this story, it’s also about redemption.
I will be placing this in my re-read shelf! Thank you for your words Lexi, I cannot wait to read what is next for you!
