I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention.First it was serving my country in the Special Forces. Then it was building my business. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost. But women never keep my attention for more than a night.Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me … to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. She’s funny, sexy and vulnerable and throws me out of bed before I can catch my breath and suggest breakfast.
When I start my last undercover job on a yacht, turns out, she’s one of the crew. I try, but I can’t look away.
Her high ponytail shows off her kissable neck that tastes like summer.
Her short uniform reveals the killer legs that were wrapped around me last night.
And her provocative smile? I know what that mouth is capable of.
I want to explore her body, discover her secrets and sail off into the sunset with her.
I might want to go all in for Skylar, but she should stay away from me. I’ve got secrets of my own and they can only bring her trouble.
A stand-alone novel.

The Wrong Gentleman is the first book I’ve read by Louise Bay and she now has a new fan. Landon was an ex Special Forces agent who was hired for an undercover job and although there was some suspense, I expected more action in the storyline. With that said, this book was exactly what I needed right now as I haven’t read a book like this all year. I loved Landon and Skylar together as their characters were strong, confident and independent. They were perfect together and their sexual chemistry was smoking HOT!!! I definitely recommend reading it.
„We’re heading for something
Somewhere I’ve never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I’m ready to learn
Of the power of love”
*Céline Dion – The Power of Love
Louise Bay and her romances… I live for these stories! And the story described in The Wrong Gentleman, just like Celine Dion’s song, shows us that the power of love is immeasurable. Once again this talented author filled my heart. And the thoughts too because the heroes in her books are created to appear in women’s fantasies late in the evening… 😉
Landon Wolf… Dear Ladies, get ready for incredibly dirty thoughts because this British man is the epitome of sexappeal!
Every relantionship-phobe has its own reasons for avoiding commitment. For Skylar it’s a traumatic past. When it comes to Landon, no one has caught his attention for more than one night and he’s a guy who focuses 100% on what caught his attention. Therefore, there are no contraindications that these two adult singles, who accidentally met, could‘t spend a hot night and then go in other directions in the morning. Yeah, the night was incredibly hot but as it turns out their direction is the same. Because they both start working on the same yacht. And so begins the adventure that will end with a wonderful happy-end … or a terrible fiasco.
I still can’t get over how it happens that Louise Bay FOR EVERY TIME makes me fall in love with a fictional character. Seriously. It’s as if this woman had private access to my fantasies! Landon Wolf is a walking perfection! Ex Special Forces agent, sexy as hell, confident, charming and GIRLS! HE HAS A BRITISH ACCENT! *sigh*. He’s also stubborn because piece by piece he managed to expose Skylar from the walls that the woman surrounded herself.
Skylar at the beginning makes an impression of a terribly shallow and cynical person but with every page we get to know her true face. And she’s a very caring and vulnerable person and this entire facade is designed to protect her from hurt. It was wonderful to watch her open herself to Landon. Together these two created pure perfection. Both between the sheets and outside the bedroom.
This book is the perfect example that you have to take risks to achieve something. It’s also the proof that everything worth having is worth fighting for. And with the right person at your side you will overcome all the demons and believe again.
From a yacht on the Mediterranean to the streets of London, The Wrong Gentleman kept me glued to my Kindle.
Landon and Skylar are very much adverse to any kind of relationship. In fact it’s the last thing either wants but after one sizzling night together they just can’t seem to stay away from each other. As they grow closer and the danger aboard the yacht intensifies, they have to decide if they can trust their hearts or run away.
I absolutely adored Landon and Skylar! I loved going back to the yachting season and the description of the beautiful scenery. Excellent!
*3,5 stars*
First off, I really have to say that I love this author’ her books and she’ll always be a one-click author for me but I just didn’t 100% feel this story; I don’t think it was fully for me. It took me a long time to get into it and some things were really bothering me to really enjoy it. Even though I liked the story and where it was going and it had a lot of potential, I don’t think this is a favorite of mine from the author. I just wish it had some more depth to some parts in the story that I feel we didn’t get enough off.
I would still say that you need to read it ‘cuz you may end up loving it more than me.
Skylar has been working on boats for the summer for a few years now and has been recruited for a new season again. Although it’s not something she’s really passionate about, she makes a decent income during that time. When she meets Landon, they hit it off but it stays to that one night between them. The next day she finds out that he’s a new crew member on the boat they’ll be working on. Even though they both said their hook-up was a one time, the more time they are spending together, they feel that there’s more than just one night. But Landon hides something and when her life might be in danger, he’ll do something that will put the relationship they’ve built on a strain. Will they find a way to make it work?…
4.5 ‘The mission of my life’ Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
And yet, Louise Bay gives us another delicious British hero to love and a strong and amazing heroine too! The perfect summer fling turning into a beautiful love story, I am all over it! We had no idea, after finishing The Ruthless Gentleman, that Louise was plotting Hayden Wolf’s brother story. I am so glad Landon got his happy ending too. I loved him and Skylar together and get ready, because I am sure you’ll love them too.
The Wrong Gentleman is Louise Bay’s upcoming release, already LIVE and it can be read as a standalone novel (even though, I also recommend reading Hayden’s story because it’s just as good!). This the story of Landon Wolf, a playboy and an ex Special Forces man who is about to have the best mission of his life. He meets and shares a very special night with Skylar Anderson and that will change their lives forever. He is going undercover job in a yacht where Skylar is working, and their chemistry is unstoppable. Be ready to fall in love with this handsome and protective British hero and the woman who makes him believe in love!
One night wasn’t enough, and the myriad of reasons not to pursue anything more with her all seemed to dissolve into the sea air whenever she was around.
She might be a woman I was prepared to go all in for.
Ohhh I love a hot protective alpha! And you know what makes it even better? Well the fact that he is British, of course! Landon Wolf slowly stole my heart (and Skylar’s!) with his protectiveness, his kick-ass job and the connection he shares with the heroine. Yes, he avoids commitment at all costs, he is a playboy but Skylar changes everything for him. He feels special with her and he wants her in every way. I loved them together because they share a beautiful relationship and an explosive chemistry. Boy, things got REALLY HAWT. And also emotional, which I love! I loved how Landon fights to get Skylar back and I am so glad they found each other. I do wish the epilogue was a bit longer but, besides that, I really loved this book.
Landon Wolf was the last man I’d ever expected to end up with, but he was the only man I would ever love.
Therefore, I am rating The Wrong Gentleman with 4.5 STARS because I really liked how this relationship developed. I love Louise’s novels and this one was no exception! Landon Wolf was sexy, mysterious and super protective. I loved every second of reading how he and Skylar fall in love. Congrats again to Louise Bay for another amazing release. Highly recommend if you enjoy this author’s works and you love British heroes and the women who make them fall in love!

I love Louise Bay and her writing, she is one of my 1-click authors, but unfortunately this one wasn’t my favourite book of hers and I so wanted it to be.
I’m not 100% sure why I struggled with this one but it took me slightly longer to get into then usual but I think it was Skylar. I really struggled with her. Her criteria with regards to men did make her seem quite stuck up and maybe that’s why I struggled with her. Once you got to read her back story you could sort of see where she was coming from but still it didn’t increase her appeal to me.
I loved Landon Wolfe, he was hot AF, ex forces and was about to join MI after selling his security business. He is on the yacht as a junior deckhand as a favour to an old friend doing some undercover work, keeping an eye on the main passenger. I will be honest I expected more action to come from this storyline as it seemed quite integral but it was completed in the background.
I feel bad this wasn’t my favourite of Louise’s book but I am still a huge fan of hers and looking forward to seeing what she brings us next.
Another great story by Louise Bay! Skylar and Landon were a special couple. I friggin’ loved them together.
He was SUPER hot and such an alpha. Skylar was such a great heroine, just as strong as Landon. Landon was one of those guys that cared much but also was not afraid to do the right thing.
I would love to say more but nope, you just gotta read it!
What happens when an alfa male come into contact with a beautiful woman? The usual I suspect. However, Skylar Andersen has seen some pretty boys before, and she is not falling for the act. Skylar is out to find her dreams on her terms. What can change her mind? Landon Wolf has been a special agent specialist for his country, has owned his security business and has never fallen for a woman that is until he meets his match at a bar. It’s a fun, flirty read getting us primed for more interesting characters down the line.
I fell in love with Skyler and Landon. The moment that they meet you are pulled into their world. you cannot deny their immediate attraction and chemistry but it will be for one night . Skyler is so Landon’s type but he soon realizes that she is so much more. He could never imagine the pull the need and the want to be with someone !
Landon is a man that enjoys keeping to himself. The military has been his life and he is now taking time to sit back and relax. He has just sold his company and is looking for a bit of R and R. He gets a call from a friend that he cannot refuse and now he is boarding a yacht to play deck hand and gather intel.
Skyler is a beautiful smart woman that has had more than her share of heartbreak and hurt. She has decided to get away from it all and do what she knows best be the chief steward on an amazing vessel . She will loose herself in her work and then figure out the rest. She thinks maybe she will find herself a wealthy older man and finally set down roots! She was not expecting him. He is certainly the Wrong Gentleman .
A one night stand has now become much more interesting seeing as though they will be working together ! They both need release but they are so broken and non comital that neither one could stop the pull towards one another !
Loved them and their beautiful story!

I think I’ve pretty much read every book that Louise Bay has written, and The Wrong Gentleman is up there amongst my favs. It’s hard to top your first, but Landon sure is trying his best to push Ethan from The Empire State’ series, off that pedestal.
He likes to keep to himself, and after making a huge sale from his company, he just wants some time alone. To sit back and take it easy for once.
But, his plans are left on the quayside when a friend from hs past asks for his help. Being ex-military is where he wants to leave that part of his life, but when it comes to the safety of civilians, he can’t say no.
Skylar has a plan of her own, and it’s not to find a man. Any kind of man, but when Landon walks on to the yacht she is working on, she’s not prepared for the effect he has on her… and her rules. Skylar’s past has left her jaded and defensive when it comes to relationships. She doesn’t trust easily and guards her heart with an icy wall.
Seeing these two completely different characters as they first became friends and then more was a pure pleasure. It filled all my boxes, protective, sexy broody male, feisty, sassy female who isn’t afraid to tell it as it is. Hot chemistry and some scorching scenes as well as the more emotional ones just puts this book at the top of my will read again list.
The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay is the story of Skylar Anderson and Landon Wolf. This is a romance that has soul. Landon and Skylar’s chemistry is intense and I really enjoyed the sexy, stern yet protective persona which is Landon. Skylar has been through some rough things in her life which she’s’s closed down/off and because of that, life has ended up seriously giving her rotten lemonade.
Skylar just wanted to find her dreams and her dreams were one step closer with her work on this luxury ship. Then comes Landon into her life. Landon was that perfect mix of broody, sexy alpha with a massively huge possessive side. Cue the swooning. Skylar is the personification of Ms. Independent Woman. Which isn’t a bad thing but it rubs Landon the wrong way. Their interactions at first was biting and yet the chemistry between them was electric. Their romance was a slow burn. Louise Bay seriously writes some steamy and beautiful love scenes! Which with the touchingly beautiful, and at times, angsty storyline, the way Landon and Skylar just fit so simply with one another like puzzle pieces was truly amazing. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming which leads to some heartbreaking scenes. Keep tissues handy. most definitely recommend this book.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
Louise Bay’s writing as always captivating. Every time I start a new book of hers, I know I’ll be drawn into a world that’s sexy, exciting, full of chemistry and leaves me happy and content. Landon and Skylar’s story is no different. I loved their initial attraction and especially their interactions.
Landon Wolfe is a different breed of man. He’s highly intelligent, bred and crafted in the British army, he’s quiet but sensitive. Skylark is everything Landon wasn’t looking for, except for her banging body that could appease him for one night. Once we met Skylar, her body was the last thing on his mind. She’s quick as a whip with her attitude and quick remarks. She’s smart and caring but she’s been hurt and is extremely closed off to love.
After they give in to a one night stand, the story really blossoms and Louise’s writing really shines through. She’s a master storyteller who weaves these characters together so you can’t imagine them with anyone else. Every subtle look, or stolen kiss is the build up for something amazing. The Wrong Gentleman doesn’t disappoint. The feels, the romance and the HEA are all there, waiting to be unfolded and discovered. I loved reading Landon and Skylar’s story!!
This book was most definitely my favourite Louise Bay book to date. It’s consumed me and I loved every single second of it.
Landon and Skylar were amazing. This couple captured me from the get go and I was invested from their very first meet. I couldn’t go back now, oh no.
Landon keeps himself to himself, he’s a private guy. After selling his company he’s looking for some time away to just sit and relax like he very much deserves but all that is about to change with a call from one of his good friends asking him to board a yacht.
Skylar, oh this woman. The stuff she went through at such an early age had my heart breaking for her. She’s closed off and finds it hard to trust except for the select few already in her life. After building a career on yacht charters she has no idea what’s about to crash in to her life, no idea at all.
Watching these two become friends and seeing their relationship blossom is one of the most rewarding things that this book gives you. The amount of feeling’s that come along with it is another. There’s nothing more amazing than being able to feel what the main characters are going through and that’s exactly what Louise delivered with this beauty.
Oh and a huge shout out for all the sexy times that happened in this book because HOT DAMN. I lost count how many times I felt like I needed a cold shower, Christ.
I’m so very pleased to have had the opportunity to read this book because Louise did incredible. She created two perfectly imperfect characters that have buried themselves deep into my heart. I’m in awe right now, incredible book.
There is just something about this author that draws me into her books. The writing is perfectly planned with the pace and the characters are incredible. I love the plot and the humor this story contains. The chemistry is off the charts and there is just the right amount of angst tossed in to create the perfect sexy read. Landon is definitely swoon worthy and this book is one you won’t want to miss.
What a great love story! Landon and Skylar were not looking for love. Skylar has protected her heart because of past tragedy in her life. Landon was just happy in his life and never had time for relationships or love.
Their journey was one of a wonderful connection of truly caring for another person. And putting that person above yourself no matter what- to protect them!
The relationships of all the characters were well written. Skylar was a wonderful character who really struggled until she realized how strong she was and that she was capable of love!! Landon- he too had realize love is really worth it!
It might be the wrong gentleman, but oh it feels so right!
When I met Skylar on The Ruthless Gentleman, I didn’t know exactly what to think of her. Her speech of “I need to find a rich man to marry” didn’t charm me, but I had no idea it was only a facade.
After such a sad and traumatic background, she’s sworn off men for good and decided to never need anyone else in her life. She was the captain of her life.
But saying that to people might be too personal, so she chose the seeking-for-wealth speech.
Everything was going according to her plan, until Landon shows up and steals her balance.
“I’m just not sure I can explain it. I know you’re not who I should want. I shouldn’t want anyone, yet I think about you more and more. I want to know where you are, what you’re thinking, and who you are underneath. You make me feel…safe. Like being with you is where I should be”
Landon is always seeking for adventurous, he wants to be better, he wants to help and be active, and being an overachiever, relationships are not under his radar, because he wants to do everything with all he has, nothing is half-assed.
But that was because He had never met someone like Skylar before.
“She might be a woman I was prepared to go all in for”
They were both resilient, private and extremely hard workers. They also both have baggage from the past that molded them into what they became.
But they also couldn’t deny their chemistry, and more than that, they couldn’t deny the pull they had on each other and how their feelings were growing exponentially.
“It was as if being this close to her gave me something nothing else did. I couldn’t describe it – energy? Power? It was as if she added fuel to my soul”
They definitely weren’t looking for each other. They were so set on their own path and criteria and plans they built, that meeting one another was a big surprise, one that they couldn’t deny or simply let go.
It was sontrger than their beliefs and, as they got to know each other better, they started to realize it was something worth breaking some personal rules for.
“I knew that whatever happened between us tonight, it wouldn’t be enough. Not for me. It wasn’t just proximity that had me wanting her. It was something deep in her soul, behind the practiced smile and her list of criteria. I heard it calling out to me.
She needed me, and I wasn’t sure that I didn’t need her”
But first they needed to learn how to trust and tell each other secrets that they didn’t know if they were ready to share (or, in the case of Landon, if it was safe to share).
However, no matter the shadows of the past, no matter the danger, Landon was there for her, to keep her safe and add to her happiness.
“Let me take you nightmares. Have only sweet dreams”
How can that me wrong?
Louise Bay does it again with a follow-up yachtie story. This one is filled with love, intrigue, reluctant hero’s and heroine’s and lots of luxury. And let’s not forget the hotness factor that this author can always bring, and bring it well! I devoured this one. These stories make me want to be part of a yachting crew myself, even if I do have motion sickness!
We follow Skylar from the last story, and Landon, on a new private yacht adventure in the Mediterranean. Landon is a an ex-army security specialist on a mission, but a one-night stand turns into a huge surprise when he take his next special mission.
I loved the surprise I got toward the middle of the book. I don’t think I was paying attention at first to know who the hero is. We get to see another glimpse of Hayden and Avery from ‘A Ruthless Gentleman’ and they are still as cute as they were in the first book.
Landon and Skylar have their fair share of troubles to work through, both are relationship phobic and have sworn off love. But there’s always that one person who changes your mind about what could be.
I loved this couple, I loved the story and I loved the ending. Another great romance to add to my library.
Louise Bay has never disappointed me when it comes to reading her work!!! This book is absolutely no exception!!!!! Landon Wolf is HOT HOT HOT!!!! You’ve GOT to read this book!!!! It’s A MUST READ!!!!!
Romance with a soul. I think this is my favourite kind of romantic read, and LB has created characters who not only entertain but reach out to parts inside you and tug, connect.
It came as a fantastic surprise when this author took me back to the sea world where yatchs reign and rich people are catered to their every whim. It made an impresion on me in one of her previous novels as that hard-working and sophisticated world was exposed so well.
This time, the circumstances go up a level or two. Covert operations, wounded characters with opposite agendas and an idylic French coast that begs for falling in love. And it’s really love what Skylar and Landon accomplish despite their adamant principles. She’s hiding a terrible hurt that has shaped her view on life, and he’s a free spirit with no attachments but to his goals.
However, they’re both caring and honourable, and once passion sparks between them, the world tilts on its axis for them. Slowly, yes, and it revolves around their respective ambitions, but it was incredibly beautiful to see them bond. I loved all the interactions on board the yatch and on land, her efficiency, his clandestine actions, their unbreakable need for each other.
The smoldering chemistry between them is worth a frame! The first time is quite intense and bold. Only followed by touching moments of intimacy and emotional meaning. It gests serious when danger threatens to cut them apart. It’s a tug-of-war between duty and feelings that rises the drama. What I love about this story is that it’s not exagerated, the dramatic obstacle at the end is dignified and real. Trust is a fundamental pivotal point for this couple, and both Skylar and Landon evolve to overcome their initial issues.
This is pure romance with a very realistic foundation. I absolutely loved the ending so full of honesty and feelings.
Another amazing, beautifully written book by Louise Bay! Landon Wolfe has a smoking hot body, rich, British and ex-military; what’s not to love? When a close friend ask him to go undercover and an employee on a luxury super yacht to stop gun runners; he’s all in. What he didn’t anticipate was having a strong sexual attraction to the lovely Skylar, an fellow employee. Skylar is not only beautiful but a woman who stays away from love. Her tragic childhood has taught her focus on making money to maintain a roof over her head and survival. When she first met Landon, the sexual attraction was mutual. They thought a one night stand would be enough but the lines are blurred. Lust turns into a a beautiful love affair . When Landon’s assignment on the yacht becomes dangerously close to Skylar, Landon must make sacrifices he has never had to encounter. I throughly enjoyed this story
