I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention.First it was serving my country in the Special Forces. Then it was building my business. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost. But women never keep my attention for more than a night.Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me … to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. She’s funny, sexy and vulnerable and throws me out of bed before I can catch my breath and suggest breakfast.
When I start my last undercover job on a yacht, turns out, she’s one of the crew. I try, but I can’t look away.
Her high ponytail shows off her kissable neck that tastes like summer.
Her short uniform reveals the killer legs that were wrapped around me last night.
And her provocative smile? I know what that mouth is capable of.
I want to explore her body, discover her secrets and sail off into the sunset with her.
I might want to go all in for Skylar, but she should stay away from me. I’ve got secrets of my own and they can only bring her trouble.
A stand-alone novel.

Nice and interesting read.
This book was really easy-going.There was no drama or too much feelings.
I loved Landon,he was real British guy.Smart, cool, collective and he has British accent. He was all-around amazing. Not to mention swoon-worthy.I really liked him.
Skylar was a nice girl, but she did pissed me of on a few occasions. Her fears were justified, but she overreacted a few times. It was too much for me.And for some reason I really didn’t like her friend.
One thing that I’m disappointed in is the ending.I get that this is romance novel and all,but Landon accepted the job for a reason, and at the end his mission was resolved with a few lines that we got from his perspective.I just wanted more on that side of the story.
Overall it was like I said, nice and easy-going read.
The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay is replete with two very likeable main characters, sexy times, and a bit of intrigue. The story primarily takes place on a luxurious private yacht, the Sapphire, which is cruising along the Mediterranean. Skylar Anderson has been yachting for years, and on this trip she is the chief stewardess. Her best friend Austin is a worker-bee as well. Yachting is Skylar’s job, and she saves every last penny to ensure that her future includes life’s basic necessities.
Londoner Landon Wolf found great success in the SAS, and as a result, created a security company that fetched top dollar when he was ready to sell. Before he begins his new position in the British government, a former SAS colleague asks him to scope out a potential terrorist threat. So Landon ends up working on the Sapphire, and the sparks between him and Skylar cannot be denied. Being deeply concerned about another person is not in Landon’s DNA, however, Skylar is the one he wants to keep safe and forge a future with.
I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Bay writes with a very clear voice and she balances the many happenings with the greatest of ease. Skylar and Landon are truly genuine characters, and their experiences are beyond interesting. If you enjoy a novel with a strong heroine, a little angst, and a hero that just won’t give up, then check out this meaningful read. Overall, this is an exciting book that twists and turns in all the right places.

Gah, I loved it so much! These characters were so amazingly good. One of my favorite reads of this year and I’ve read a lot already. Beautifully done. You can’t go wrong with a Louise Bay book. Would definitely recommend!
I can’t be the only one that has a weakness for the British male? Right? I mean, I can’t be the only one hearing Landon’s British accent whispered in my ear via Zachary Webber’s voice! Y’all are totally hearing it now! You have to be!! Anyways, Landon is my favorite kind of male character. With the Special Forces behind him and currently building up a security business, he’s fierce and determined. He’s also not looking for anything serious… perhaps just a person to warm his bed for a night. There’s definitely something about this man! He’s sweet and kind, fun and flirty, and did I mention his British accent?!?
I loved Skylar for him. Skylar may start out as a summer fling but she brings so much more meaning to his life. She was fun and flirty, caring and she intrigued him. The heat level these two brought about was insane. They were off the charts! Couldn’t stay away from each other. I was going to combust just reading them! Louise Bay wrote a story that really pulled me in, consumed my heart and mind from start to finish. I swear, her characters and plot gets better with every story! The Wrong Gentleman is definitely one to grab right away… there’s a bit of mystery, of intrigue and even some added in suspense.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.

Title: The Wrong Gentleman
Author: Louise Bay
Louise Bay has done it again! The Wrong Gentleman hit every one of my sweet spots-full of passion, a bit of angst, and a whole lotta love! It seriously was unputdownable!!! Landon and Skylar did not have an easy journey whatsoever but that’s what drew me in and held me captive throughout the entire story.
Landon Wolf has just sold his security company and is looking forward to some downtime. When a friend asks him for a favor, he has a hard time saying no. He thinks it’s going to be a super easy mission. But really he has no idea what’s in store for him. A gorgeous blonde was definitely not part of his plans.
Skylar was not looking for love or even a relationship. All she needed was stability that only she could provide. Or so she thought. When she meets Landon, she knows he’s just like every other man- undependable, untrustworthy, and completely wrong for her. As she gets to see the man beneath, everything starts to change. So what happens when what was supposed to be a one night stand turns into more?
I loved this story so much! These characters worked their way into my heart. Landon was so broody and secretive but he had an incredible heart. The way he was with Skylar made me swoon! Skylar was such a strong heroine and at first I thought she was flaky and shallow. But as the story progresses, you get to see why she was that way. Together, Landon and Skylar’s chemistry is HOT AF! Ms. Bay wrote a wonderful story and it’s become my new favorite. I highly recommend reading it!
I’m a big fan of this author and this book didn’t disappoint. I didn’t love Skyler at the beginning, but she grew on me as the story unfolded.
I did loved Skyler and Logan as a couple, it was a fantastic story of a “one night stand” that turned into more.
I love the stories that take place away from home. There is something so magical about a couple falling in love in an exotic place. Landon and Skylar’s story was so romantic taking place on a ship where they were both working. Skylar was the chief stewardess and Landon was under cover, bringing down the bad guys. Neither of them was looking for love, but they found their other half when they met each other.
I really enjoyed their story and watching them open up to each other since they were both pretty closed off people. I did feel like the climax was a little bit of a let down for me. I was expecting a little bit more with what Landon was doing on the ship. The story was good though. I really enjoyed catching up with Avery and Hayden, too. I hope we get August’s story!
The wrong gentleman turned out oh so right. Skylar was quirky, and is trying to protect herself from being hurt. However, after a one night stand with sexy, sweet Landon, they find themselves thrown together again. On a yacht. I absolutely loved this story and the character development. I’m glad that Skylar gets a happy ending in more ways than one! 😉
This book is a standalone sequel to The Ruthless Gentleman, and features a new hero and heroine. This was a really fun book to read. Skylar is a strong, fiercely independent, heroine, with a tragic past, and Landon is a take-charge hero who is not ready to fall in love. I really liked how they were thrown together, in such a small space. It made for more special moments. And it was fun seeing the characters from The Ruthless Gentleman again. This was a really delightful book, and I enjoyed reading every page.

Returning to the world of yachting and romancing on the Mediterranean was such an awesome experience, especially in the dead of winter where we are buried in snow. I fell in love with Landon and Skylar. Something about their relationship just warmed my heart and had me cheering them on through all of their doubts. Landon is all kinds of sexy with a protective and possessive streak that had Skylar spinning while trying to piece together the many facets of the broody new deckhand.
Their attempt at burying their memories of a night of passion and keeping their hands off each other brought some delicious sexual tension to the story. Then when an uncomplicated, no-strings-attached summer fling while aboard the Sapphire seemed plausible, the temperature rises and both Landon and Skylar start to rethink their devout plans for their future. Is it possible they could have found the one person on this earth that their heart has been searching for? The one person that they can be open an honest with? Perhaps not!
Like always, Louise brings us a taste of angsty suspense along with her romance, which gives her stories the right stuff to keep you turning the pages waiting to see where our characters go next, waiting to see if or how their romance gets derailed. Portions of this book had me utterly swooning and craving the sun, sand, and ocean, while other portions just had me fanning myself looking for relief.
Landon and Skylar know how to turn up the heat, and they had me remembering and longing for the chance to fall in love all over again. The Wrong Gentleman is everything you need to sit back, relax, and get lost in love.
The Wrong Gentleman was a good and enjoyable read.
Landon and Skylar meet each other in a bar the day before they start to work for the Summer on board of a luxurious yacht. There’s an undeniable chemistry between them that will end with a hot roll in the sack. They say goodbye knowing they won’t meet again but fate has other plans for them, little they know they will work on the same boat. After an understandable initial awkwardness they surrender to their need for each other, and even if they weren’t looking for a relationship they slowly understand how important they are to each other.
I absolutely love reading Louise Bay’s novels.I love the writing, the plot and the location of this one.The sunny mediterranean coast of South France brought me some warm and pleasure during this coldwinter.
The Wrong Gentleman is a complete standalone.
After reading many previous books by this author I was so looking forward to Landon and Skylar’s story. I really enjoyed The Wrong Gentleman as it had a good background plot with plenty of romance and an interesting insight into the life of super yachting. I only wished that there had been a little more danger and intrigue going on that would have only added to and enhanced this book, after all Landon was on a secret mission and I felt that it left that part of the story a little flat. I wanted him to be like a dashing James Bond that brought the downfall of the bad guys. Having said all that as a contemporary romance this had a few very deep and emotional scenes that were very sad and touching to read. Both characters find it hard to let go of their pasts and let down the walls around their guarded hearts, and these emotions only added to the sexual tension that grows between Skylar and Landon while she is trying hard to keep him in the friendzone. It was very exciting addition to the story and showed that they were both human as they gave in to the physical attraction between them. As i’ve come to expect this book was very well written with a plot that was easy to read and follow. An enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Louise Bay in the future.
I couldn’t get enough of this book once I picked it up. I loved every single thing about this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development between Skylar and Landon. I really enjoyed reading their story and I highly recommend that you read it for yourself as well. I definitely know that you will enjoy it.
Landon was most definitely the right Gentleman! From his and Skylar’s first meeting you could tell the chemistry was absolutely off the charts. She was guarded and didn’t need or want anything from anyone, especially men. Reading her story along the way I understood why Skylar was that way. Landon was a no strings attached kind of man. These two shattered each other’s rules, helped each other experience new things and gave us a sweet love story. It was quite entertaining to read. Hoping August gets her own book next.
who knew a one night stand would lead to a great story? ummm maybe the fact that Louise Bay wrote it! another great book from one of my favorite authors.
I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This story is such a beautiful one. Landon and Skylar are not in any way looking for love. Landon has a this side to her that tends to give off the wrong impression because she is do use to being protective of herself. While Landon is a good looking man who is extra broody and possessive. He is just what she needs and she is just what he needs. These two were only suppose to ever be a one night stand. The last thing Skylar wants is a broken heart or for her past to come back to haunt her. Landon is so secretive about his job and that job is quikly going to become the blonde that quickly catches his eye and becomes the one night stand. These two have some amazing chemisty and will have you turning the pages to see what happens next. I really liked this book. It held me attention from beginning to end and I was invested in what was going to happen to these characters. It was also my first Lousie Bay book that I have ever read. I enjoyed it so much that it will not be my last.
Louise Bay has this way about her male heroes. They seem very much in control of their lives…until they aren’t. And this control typically becomes lost…in the hands of an unassuming heroine. It doesn’t matter if you’re reading British royalty or billionaire businessmen or men who’ve just sold their security business for millions of dollars. With the right woman, these men simply change and become better: “She thought I’d been the one to change things for her, but she’d changed me completely. And she’d never know.”
This is very true of her most recent offering, The Wrong Gentleman.
I was very excited to get my hands on an early copy of this book as I love to see an alpha man brought to his knees. This new book does not disappoint with that.
Landon, Bay’s H, is handsome, capable, focused, incredibly skilled at spying and bedding women, and he’s emotionally unavailable. He does not engage in relationships, so his permanency with women is non-existent. He likes them for one thing and one thing only. You can guess what that is: “I hated the idea of a part-time girlfriend or wife. I didn’t do things by halves.” His life is his work, and there is nothing that he allows to interfere. Obviously, being closed to relationships with women leaves an opportunity for a woman to enter his life and change him. C’mon. This is a Louise Bay novel, so it is destined to happen.
Enter Skylar. Now, similar to Landon, Skylar is also not interested in relationships with men. However, unlike Landon’s work, her past informs her present and future: “I wouldn’t end up like my mother. I didn’t want her life or her death.” Skylar is strong, beautiful, talented with her job as the head steward on a yacht, and dedicated to her friends. However, like Landon, there are parts of her that are emotionally stunted.
Herein lies the deliciousness of a Louise Bay novel. These two will meet, they will feel an instantaneous attraction, and they will eventually realize that they cannot live without each other. However, to get to that moment, they will struggle. In The Wrong Gentleman, I found myself wanting to reach into the book and smack Skylar upside her head. Her past is horrible, but I thought she was too stubborn for too long. Her emotional walls are solidly in place, and it takes most of the book for Landon to tear them down (along with his own walls). Even when her emotional walls are destroyed/lowered, Landon’s choices and secrets destroy her and cause those walls to grow even stronger than before. Though I struggled with her earlier in the book, this moment in the book tore my heart out. This is Bay’s genius. Her characters are written in such a way that you cannot help but feel their pain and their eventual happiness. And this is very true of The Wrong Gentleman.
By the end of this book, you will love Landon and Skylar. Through their challenges and their love and their separation and their eventual HEA, you will fall in love with them. They show us all that our past does not need to make decisions for our present and future.
Landon: “I couldn’t imagine a time when I wouldn’t feel the same way. It was as if she were a part of me, and without her, there would be some element missing. I wanted to stay connected with her—physically, mentally, emotionally—forever.”
Skylar: “Landon Wolf was the last man I’d ever expected to end up with, but he was the only man I would ever love. The only man who’d showed me he could be trusted. I knew as long as I was with him, I’d be safe, loved, and protected, and that’s all I’d ever wanted in life.”
Overall: 5 Stars
Loved the Book! Definitely read it…And it doesn’t hurt to read The Ruthless Gentleman beforehand.
I was catching up on my recordings with Below the Deck while I read this book and I felt immediately immersed in the storyline. I felt like you actually knew these characters (Landon and Skylar) more than the reality TV stars…but of course you don’t necessarily hear the inner thoughts of the crew members on the show.
It wasn’t obvious until a little in that Landon had a brother and I immediately know who was his brother having read Louise’s previous cruise themed book, The Ruthless Gentleman!! Loved the in depth detailed characters and the feel of instant longing for each other that Louise quite easily wrote into the pages. The sizzling chemistry hovers over each character even though they supposedly avoid each other.
I don’t feel I need to recap the book which you really do get the gist in the blurb. But one of my favorite quotes from the book was “Let me take your nightmares. Have only sweet dreams.” Reading this early on in the book showed how much Landon was falling for Skylar and the depth of his feelings for her even though he refused to acknowledge them.
I love Landon and Skylar’s story. Landon is perfect! Handsome, caring, protective, possessive, and British. Skylar is a beautiful and strong woman. The story has it all: mystery, amazing chemistry, love, and a beautiful HEA. Now, I can’t wait for the audiobook! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
