I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention.First it was serving my country in the Special Forces. Then it was building my business. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost. But women never keep my attention for more than a night.Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me … to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. She’s funny, sexy and vulnerable and throws me out of bed before I can catch my breath and suggest breakfast.
When I start my last undercover job on a yacht, turns out, she’s one of the crew. I try, but I can’t look away.
Her high ponytail shows off her kissable neck that tastes like summer.
Her short uniform reveals the killer legs that were wrapped around me last night.
And her provocative smile? I know what that mouth is capable of.
I want to explore her body, discover her secrets and sail off into the sunset with her.
I might want to go all in for Skylar, but she should stay away from me. I’ve got secrets of my own and they can only bring her trouble.
A stand-alone novel.

I was cussing him out soo bad when he was pushing her away!! Oohhhh lol
But OMG the last line of the epilogue had me swooning soooooooo big!!
Thanks for another great story!!
Also thanks to Shane East and Andi Ardnt for fantastic narration!
A highly entertaining, super steamy, and witty romance. Landon and Skylar embark on an amazingly intense and heart felt journey together. I enjoyed the banter, the fiery chemistry, and suspense of what will happen next. Great story.
I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost. But women never keep my attention for more than a night. Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. I did like this the story line was interesting and engaging, the characters had some chemistry and the sex was hot but for some reason I just did not like the female character Skylar and even though they did have some sexual chemistry Skylar and London didn’t have much else going for them. All over it was a good read.
I adore Landon Wolfe!!! He’s the perfect mix of sexy alpha male goodness.
Landon and Skyler have amazing chemistry. I love how each are forced to step out of their comfort zone for each other, but in the end their love is worth it.
A beautifully told story about fighting for true love.
Two people who has sworn off love, falls in love with each other. Landon is the undercover sexy Brit and Skylar is the beautiful American. The story was good, some drama and angst but it did not hold my interest as Ms. Bay’s other books.
Excellent! Great characters and original story line. Louise Bay is one of my all time favorite authors. Every book is a must read.
Landon Wolfe has stolen my heart from his brother! I didn’t think it was possible, but Louise Bay went and wrong an amazing story and character and here we are! The Wrong Gentleman is oh so right in every way!
Landon is basically perfection. He’s broody and detached, yes, but he’s also passionate, caring, and thoughtful once his walls are down. The swoon was strong win this one! Those walls don’t come down easy though so it took a fantastic heroine to knock them down and that was Skylar! She’s willful, stubborn, and made Landon Wolfe work for what he wanted for once and it was glorious. Their chemistry is undeniable and as the connection grew the heat between them became scorching. I’m talking set-off-fire-alarms hot! I couldn’t help, but fall in love with them and root for their HEA.
This is a gorgeous story of taking chances and risks for love. Louise Bay’s perfect writing makes this one effortless love story that’s the perfect romantic escape. Romantic, sexy, and oh so swoony, The Wrong Gentleman is an absolute MUST READ! Five perfectly sexy stars.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Louise Bay is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay is a beautiful and majestic escapism. This story is like an exotic adventure. It has thrill and mystery, and heartbreak and second chances. It has emotion and passion. I loved the story and journey of Landon and Skylar.
This was an exhilarating story of taking a chance with your heart. Louise Bay has written an impressive story of love and suspense. The characters were amazing and settings were breathtaking in their descriptions. A highly entertaining and enjoyable read.
Landon Wolf is a man who likes to keep to himself. After working with the Special Forces and then running his own business, which he sold for a lot of money, he is taking a break before he begins his new job. The new job, a consultant for MI6. When an old friend asks for Landon’s help, he can’t turn him down. After all, how hard can it be to be a deckhand after years in the military. What Landon doesn’t count on is meeting a girl who can change it all.
Skylar is a stewardess, who has just been given the opportunity to be Chief Stewardess on a yacht for a successful businessman. She experienced something at a young age, that no one should have to experience, and it shaped the woman that she is today. She has sworn off men, and her standards are incredibly high, and pretty impossible to reach. She’s ready to get this season underway. However, the night before her job starts, she meets a guy who she connects with, but a one-night stand is all either have to offer. Needless to say, the one-night stand turns a little complicated when Skylar and Landon discover they are apart of the same charter and crew on the Sapphire.
The undeniable chemistry between Landon and Skylar kicks off right away and doesn’t waiver. Landon’s charm made him a character that you couldn’t help but like, and it was easy to admire Skylar’s independent ways. The way that the two work together and navigate through unchartered territory was fun and easy to read. I also appreciated that we got a glimpse of Avery and Hayden! ‘The Wrong Gentleman’ was a great read, and I can only hope that maybe Louise will give us a story about August!
O.M.G. This book…. It was Below Deck Mediterranean meets the perfect James Bond, or should I say Landon James….
* Full review to come on release day
Okay, it has been a few weeks since I have read this book. I have to tell you, this ranks as one of my favorite books thus far for 2019! I loved Landon James!! He will melt your heart. A one night stand that turns into forever is always a good book in my eyes!! Then to add in a little adventure, SOLD!
Skylar was perfect as well. I loved the tug and pull that she had with Landon. The sexual tension between the two fo them throughout this book was well written. It made me invested in the characters and how the story ended.
I mentioned that it was Below Deck Mediterranean meets the perfect James Bond. That was my first gut feeling. I stand by that statement still. I loved it!!
I also love how Louise Bay always seems to have past characters pop up within her other books. She is one of the masters at this. Yet again, she had me drooling for a reread of all of her books!!
Thank you Louise for these characters and this storyline. It was a fun escape during these long winter months. I had a mini staycation with The Wrong Gentleman.
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay is a standalone contemporary romance set in the same world as The Ruthless Gentleman and taking place the season after the events in that story. So while this shares a world and some characters it CAN be read as a standalone.
Landon Wolf is ex-military, just sold his own security business, and is ready for a break. What he doesn’t anticipate is an old friend in desperate need of his skills and a season on a super yacht as a deck hand. Another thing he doesn’t anticipate is the sexy blond he spent the night with right before he starts on the yacht also working on that same yacht as chief steward.
Skylar has her rules and has them for good reason. Nothing she has ever experienced in life has made her question her rules or doubt them. That is, until one night with Landon James starts chipping away at her painfully constructed walls. Could he possibly be as wonderful as he seems or is this growing attraction between them too good to be true?
A beautiful romantic tale of two people doing all they can to avoid romantic entanglements finding themselves more and more twisted up in each other. Add in a super yacht, a summer party in Paris and a hot British ex-military and it checked many of my favorites. Love this author and loved this book. Enjoy!
I know a sure thing is guaranteed when reading anything by Louise Bay. Coherent writing with an even, flowing pace; an irresistible, brooding British hero; a determined, kind-hearted heroine; and chemistry brewing with palpable sexual tension. The Wrong Gentleman isn’t an exception—a friends to lovers undercover romance set within the gorgeous Mediterranean. It epitomises the perfect summer fling, really!
“You’re smooth, British Boy, and everything I don’t need.”
Sent to collect incriminating evidence against an apparent reputable businessman, Landon Wolf’s mission is both imperative and dangerous. It is also more complicated than he expected when the only woman to capture his attention—and affection—appears on the same boat, proving to be a temptation difficult to resist. And an incredible distraction he can’t afford.
Skylar Anderson refuses to rely on anyone for support—romantically and financially. Determined to maintain a modicum of stability, she’s hell-bent on staying away from Landon, because as handsome and charming as he is, his undeniable allurement isn’t worth chasing. Her resolute decision to remain independent and her motivation to be hard-working is admirable.
“Skylar might be the mission of your life. Make sure you don’t quit before the job is done.”
The Wrong Gentleman isn’t angst-ridden, but that doesn’t make this any less enjoyable. I loved the push-pull between Skylar and Landon. And the undeniable intense, heated chemistry between them is captivating. However, this was the slowest slow burn. Ever. With an underlying threat nearby, the opportunities for exciting action was missed and the ending to Landon’s mission was pushed aside very easily, very quickly.
If you love slow burn romance with a push and pull situation between the couple, an undercover hero, a feisty heroine and engaging story-line, pick up The Wrong Gentleman. Louise Bay’s writing will have your interest from beginning to ending!
“Love. Passion. Attraction. At best they are temporary feelings and at worst they lead to bad decision-making and horrible consequences.”
LB delivered again a story with a sexy British hero that will capture your heart from the very beginning. I could not put it down because the author flawlessly captures the feelings of the passionate roller coaster ride that was Skylar and Landon relationship. The attraction between them is undeniable from the first night stand and the chemistry sizzling but life is obviously not that easy for them… essentially when they found themselves on the same yacht.
“ I wouldn’t be a victim of love or passion”
This book was filled with so many moments that just made me sigh inwardly or cheer on. It had everything I love—romance, heartache, friendship, a compelling, sexy as hell leading man!
This story was UNPUTDOWNABLE!!
OMG! Yes! This book was Fantastic!
THE WRONG GENTLEMAN is the latest book of Louise Bay and if you’re looking for a romance book, she’s the one you go for, her lovely writing and amazing stories will always make you swoon.
Skylar and Landon, what they had was insta love, ever since they met, they felt very attracted to each other, but Skylar doesn’t want a relationship and Landon, he’s not interested in being attached, but somehow they can’t deny the chemistry between them. They agree to just one night of passion, then each one will go their separate ways, what they didn’t expect was to find each other the following day on the same yacht and being part of the same crew.
I loved both characters! Skylar is so strong and independent, despite her background she never gave up and she has to reach her goals in order to feel safe. Landon never was interested in a relationship, but he has a need to protect Skylar. Both will have to break their own rules so they can think of have a life together.
This is another amazing book from Louise, as bonus you get to meet up again with Landon’s brother Hayden from the Ruthless Gentleman. Can’t wait for more books of her.
I was excited for this book’s release and it didn’t disappoint. Skylar isn’t looking for love. She’s determined to avoid it at all costs. She has her reasons as the reader later discovers. To keep her friend August from constantly trying to match make, she has a list of requirements for a man that no one is ever going to be able to fill.
Landon’s ex military. Special Forces and never had a relationship beyond one night with a woman. He sees Skylar and wants her, but I don’t think either one imagined they’d see each other again. But she works on a luxury yacht and Landon’s undercover on the same yacht, posing as a deckhand.
Things heat up between him and Skylar. Emotions I don’t think either expected become involved until she discovers he hasn’t been entirely honest with her, something she can’t condone. Really enjoyed this. Love Landon.
I tried I really did. For this being my first Louise Bay book I came in with open arms and eyes. I have been waiting for just the right book and since I missed the last one in this “series” I wanted to try this one. Since they are all standalone I felt that I was okay to try.
But there was something about this one that I could not get into. Maybe it was the yacht thing or maybe the story was just a little slow for me, but I just couldn’t finish this story. I didn’t put this down as a did not finish because I did finally finish it, but it just took me a while.
This book will not stop me from reading Louise again, it was just this book that did not do it for me. Sorry.
This author has been a favorite of mine for a very long time.
Which is why it saddens me to give this book 3.5 stars.
Something was missing from making this, as a whole, a great book.
Landon was great! Smokin and British.
Skylar and August’s conversations were very annoying. Not sure how they were friends since they only talked about getting Skylar a rich guy to marry. It became too much to continue to read.
The plot of this book would have been so good if it stayed in the light through out the story.
Of course the love part of this book was great. Two people who don’t do commitment, committing. They worked well together.
Louise Bay always gives us a swoonworthy hero! Landon is an ex-special forces soldier turned security specialist with a British accent. He takes a job as a deckhand on a yacht to keep tabs on a shady businessman who is rumored to be selling weapons to terrorists. The night before he is due to set sail he has a one night stand with Skylar, a woman he meets in a bar. Much to his surprise Skylar turns out to be the chief stewardess on the yacht where he is working undercover. Before long Landon is preoccupied with his feelings for Skylar while trying to keep her out of danger and take down the arms dealer.
I always enjoy Louise Bay’s books and this one is no different. The ending did fall a little short for me. The author spent so much time building up the storyline with the arms dealer and then it sort of falls flat in the end (turns into almost a non-story). I wish she would have followed through with the suspense a little more.
