What happens when you fall for Ms. Wrong?Annie Harland is rich, successful, and very single. So when an invitation to her tenth high school reunion drops on her mat, she’s determined to skip it. Until a drunk evening with her best friend results in an appointment with an escort named Robin.Robin is supposed to be bookish, well-muscled, and the owner of a golden retriever. Robin is actually tall, … retriever. Robin is actually tall, curvaceous, and very, very female.
Things should have ended at their very first meeting. But for some strange reason, Annie can’t stop seeing Ms. Wrong. And Robin is Ms. Wrong, if only because she’s a Ms. and not a Mr.
What should have been a story of high school revenge has turned into a romance, and Annie’s life is about to be turned upside down. But love knows no labels, or does it?
The Wrong Date is a new stand-alone lesbian romance from Sienna Waters, the author of the Oakview and Monday’s Child lesfic series.

This has been done many times but this has a few twists and turns lacking on the other stories. Meek rich geek hires an escort to take her to a High School reunion where she wanted to show up all the people who didn’t want her when she was there. The only problem is she picked one by name and it turned out to be a woman. This is a lovely cute story of two unlikely people who fall in love by accident seemingly. Its a great read and well written. It was so good I read it twice because I forgot to leave this review. Spoiler alert: there is an HEA

Endearing Characters
I’ll admit that I’m only just now dipping my toe into this particular subgenre of romantic fiction, so this is the first book I have read by this author. I am very pleased to have found her so early in my reading of these types of books. I thought she was an excellent job creating nuanced characters who are believable and likable. I could mediately feel for Annie, as she struggled with confidence coming from a tough childhood, even though she is currently very successful professionally and monetarily. I so did not like that evil project manager! The author also managed to create a sympathetic and lovely character in Robin, who unapologetically loves her work as an escort. As she describes it, women often desire her services because they are more interested in companionship or having a confidant. She’s not used to having anything other than a professional interest in clients, so the wide range of feelings she starts to feel for Annie surprises and even shocks her at times. I thought the author portrayed their attraction, although both resist it, very well. The emotions they felt and displayed seem true to human nature given the circumstances. I particularly liked the near-immediate emotional bond they felt for each other, though that manifested for them in unique ways. It brought out Robin’s natural need to protect and be an empathetic listener. It brought out Annies deeply buried confidence and need to connect on a more than superficial level. As you may be able to tell, I thought this book was fantastic, and I look forward to reading the author’s back catalog and anticipate her next book!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is two tropes in one – falling in love with an escort/fake date, and a self-identifying “straight” woman coming to realize she is not actually straight.
I *love* romance tropes! I don’t necessarily think that all romance books *should* have tropes, but OMG, I do love them! And even more so when the author finds a unique angle.
Annie wants to take a luscious date to her 10 year high school reunion, so she hires Robin, a male escort. But when they meet, she finds Robin, who puts her at ease immediately and is easy to talk to, is female. Robin graciously sets her up with a male escort, who is nice, but there’s no connection. So Annie takes Robin to the reunion, and they hit it off. Of course, they have the stops and starts that all romance novels have. They each have an awesome best friend who puts them in their place(s) when need be.

A drunken plot to hire a muscly man as her date for a reunion results in a date with a hottie in a woman’s body – and she is ultimately exactly who and what Annie needs
Can they work out the details to hold onto the best sort of accident?

Not going to lie Annie was my favorite this book, I think we have all be there in our lives where we just need to be more confident and we simply can’t until we get ready. Robin helped but ultimately it was Annie that finally took the steps to be happy. At times Robin came off kind of harsh and I didn’t k how what to do with that behavior because she had been so warm and kind that rudeness came out of nowhere. It wasn’t my favorite from Sienna but that does not mean that I could put the book down once I began.

Sometimes you can take a wrong and make it right. Annie has a concept of herself that seems to be holding her back from living her life fully. Robin puts people at ease for a living and she is just what Annie needs to move forward with her life. Of course Annie was expecting a male escort and doesn’t known how to feel about being so drawn to a woman. Thank goodness for her best friend Fred. She is a perfect sounding board and voice of reason. Robin has never before developed feelings for a client. This can’t work or so they both think. This story has just enough angst to pull at your heart strings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like the concept of escort & client romance. Just follow your heart and things have a way of working out.

I really enjoyed this book about a straight woman Annie, who hires an escort for a school reunion, not realising that Robin was a woman. That should have been enough to send Robin away, but Annie feels a connection with her and decides to attend the reunion with Robin. Both the leading characters were interesting and grew as the book progressed. It was a lovely read with minimal aghast and a HEA.
