This is the 1st on a new series and what a brilliant beginning this story is. Gabby loves her best friend Mia and would do anything for her, so when she asks her to go undercover at her boyfriends work to find out is he is cheating like she suspects, Gabby applies for a position as secretary and gets the job. Gabby is sassy and outspoken, and her boss Dane is a broody workaholic and to her horror she is attracted to him. It does not take Gabby long to find out that there are two Mr Holloways and she is working with the wrong one. This is a beautifully written tale which is fun, entertaining, and humorous, with witty banter, emotions, and a tad angst. I cannot wait to read more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.
The Wrong Brother is a rather entertaining story! The author is new to me and this book is about Gabby and Dane.
What starts out as mistaken identity develops into an interesting friendship but entails jealousy but also some good banter!
The book didn’t have my attention from the start and I didn’t like the way Danes family is. I could understand how Dane is the way he is though.
I initially thought Gabby had a different job as it wasn’t clear in the beginning and I struggled a bit to really connect with the characters!
It was a good read though.
The Wrong Brother by Amanda Siegrist is the First book in the Perfect for You Series. This is the story of Gabby and Dane. Gabby is asked by her best friend who she has always looked after to go undercover at Champ Holloway’s work to see if he is cheating on her. Gabby can’t say no to Mia so she goes there under the pretense of a temp personal assistant. But she finds that Dane is a workaholic who doesn’t take time to do anything else. Then a few days later she finds out the hard-way that she has the wrong brother which leads her to go back to Mia and quick that job. But Gabby and Dane can’t quit the feelings that they now have but can they get past the deception of Gabby’s undercover work? Enjoyed their story.
4.5 Stars for The Wrong Brother (Perfect for You #1)
This is the first book I have read by Amanda Siegrist but it certainly won’t be the last because I loved this well written, entertaining read.
Gabby and Mia are best friends so when Mia suspected her boyfriend of cheating on her Gabby didn’t hesitate to go undercover to check the facts out, what Mia forgot to say was there are two Mr Holloway’s and yep Gabby ended up with the wrong brother. Problem is she is attracted to the man she believes to be her best friends boyfriend…..
It’s not to far into the story she realises Dane Holloway’s is not Mia’s boyfriend so all bets are off….
This is an entertaining, witty read that left me smiling like a Cheshire Cat, I smiled, I swooned and I found myself wishing that this quirky couple got the HEA they so deserved. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to book 2 in the series. If you are looking for a book with the perfect mix of love, passion and humour with adorable quirky characters this is the book for you.
Amanda amazes me with every book I read. You will be captivated from beginning to end. The story flowed beautifully with characters that are easy to relate to. Dane and Gabby make for a entertaining read! Definitely recommend this book and author.
4 star Review The Wrong Brother by Amanda Siegrist
Amanda Siegrist is a new author to me and I have no idea how I have nit come across her work before now. This was a well written and entertaining story that grabbed and held my attention form the first to the last chapter.
I really loved Gabby, what a loyal friend who would do anything to support her best friend Mia. This was a humorous read which starts off with a case of mistaken identity when Mia asks Gabby to go undercover to see if her boyfriend is cheating on her. Unbeknownst to Gabby there are two Mr. Holloways, and even worse she is immediately attracted to him. Thankfully she finds out that her new boss is Dane Holloway who is not Mia’s boyfriend.
It took me a while to warm up to Dane but once I did I fell for his rather abrupt disposition. Together he and Gabby make a great team if only he wasn’t such a workaholic. There was some angst, humour and fun and quirky characters that made this an entertaining read.
Amanda Siegrist is known for her amazing romantic suspense stories, with handsome heroes and sassy and strong women. With her latest book, she has ventured into the world of romantic comedy, and she did an excellent job. It’s a great start to her new series.
Gabby had been friends with Mia since the third grade and they were as close as sisters and were always there for each other. This closeness is what led Gabby to spend her vacation undercover, spying on Mia’s boyfriend. But as the title of the book tells us, she was working for the wrong brother, who turned out to be handsome, brooding and very delectable. Fate definitely brought Gabby and Dane together. Gabby may have been working for Dane under false pretenses, but in that short time she enjoyed getting to know the real man behind the serious and intense exterior. They had an instant chemistry and sparks flew when they were in the same room. Dane was impressed with how Gabby stood up to him and he appreciated her honesty. He wasn’t looking for a relationship but he couldn’t ignore how fascinated he was with Gabby. He loved how her smile lit up her beautiful face and she made him realize there was more to life than work. He was a changed man with Gabby in his life and he hoped he could reassure her that even with his busy job, he would always have time for her.
This started as a really fun book. I thought Gabby was fun and sassy, if a little bossy, and she knew what she wanted. Dane is a genuinely good guy who just doesn’t know how to balance work and life. It’s no wonder he doesn’t really date, he’s always at work. Gabby could help bring the perfect balance to his life that he needs.
A little over a third of the way in, the fun tone disappeared. Dane turned insecure. Gabby had given him no reason to doubt her fidelity and thus began the back and forth of both of them. She kept pushing him away, and he kept doubting her. I found myself screaming at the both of them to talk to each other and to pick a stance and stick to it. I think underneath all the drama is a fun story waiting to burst free. Gabby and Dane aren’t for me, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be right for others. Siegrist is one of my favs, and I look forward to what she comes up with next.
This is a gripping, well written story that just needs to be read to see how it all ends. At times it was so frustrating…. the dilly-dallying and doubtful thoughts drove me mad. The jealousy and mistrust made me see red because the feelings were so obvious to everyone… but when the end result happened it made me smile and all the frustration turned to smiles.
Gabby is a lovely lady who goes to extremes to do anything to help anyone but even more so for her best friend, Mia. I love how outspoken and brave she is and that she’s really honest. So refreshing… unless she’s pushing Dane away and then my eyes rolled.
Dane is a real pain to start with; workaholic, snooty, abrupt, but one minute with Gabby, or Gabriella as he prefers to call her, and he slowly becomes a much more bearable man; even totally loveable. He needs a bit more of a backbone but Gabby helps with that.
After all of my frustration, this book was enjoyable and made me stay up until wayyyy after sunrise to find out how this would end.
