In this bittersweet regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author BREE WOLF, a rational lady and an adventurous rogue come to see that the heart wants what the heart wants…even at the most inconvenient of times.
Bookish LADY ISABELLA CARRINGTON has always favored her mind over her heart. After all, love is nothing but a fairy tale. No, Isabella will not be fooled by … fooled by dashing smiles and charming words. If she must marry, only a true gentleman will do. Someone kind and honest and most of all dependable. Her choice falls on her good friend Charles Dashwood.
ROBERT DASHWOOD, VISCOUNT NORWOOD, has run as far from London as his feet would carry him. While it was fun to chase the ladies of London, earning him the dark moniker Notorious Norwood, Robert feels far more at home traveling the world than attending tedious balls. The only reason he returns to English soil now is to attend his twin brother’s wedding.
Isabella has only ever heard of Charles’s notorious twin; however, when their eyes meet on her wedding day, sparks fly she never would have thought possible. All of a sudden, her heart overrules her mind and all she wants is that blasted fairy tale she never dared believe in.
Robert never even contemplated the idea of marriage; however, the moment he lays eyes on his brother’s bride, Robert is struck by her keen wit and gentle kindness. He glimpses the same spark for adventure in her eyes that has led him all over the world and, from one second to the next, he can no longer imagine traveling without her by his side.

I have long enjoyed Brea Wolf’s recency romances, having read almost her complex Love’s Second Chance Series. Bree’s female heroines are not the usual simperring females of the time. Her characters are strong, independent, and intelligent women, who seek not just a excellent match but a man who will also respect her mind as well as her beauty. A Bree Wolf heroine would expect to be a full partner in any relationship. And somehow her female characters always seem to find their happily ever after.
In the “Wrong Brother” Bree pushes her new character, Isabella, into a truly impossible situation for a woman in the Recency era. Isabella accepts a match she believes to be the best for her, only to discover her true Soul-mate after she is wed! Bree Wolf ‘s masterful word craft had me feeling every minute of the lovers angst as they tried to find an acceptable and honorable solution. The agony builds to a climax and just when you believe all is lost, Bree’s characters discover a way that is clever, if not a little twisted. As always, the romance is sweet and clean, just a few secret stolen kisses, meant to increase the breathless anticipation of what is to come. In the end, Bree Wolf does not fail to deliver on a happily ever after you never saw coming.”The Wrong Brother” is an easy to read, entertaining novella, you could easily finish in one afternoon. Pick up “The Wrong Brother” if you are looking for a way to relax one sunny afternoon in the garden!
A daring life altering change.
A delightful romp between twins and a marriage that they both knew would forever be the most difficult to experience unless they made the most daring life altering change unlike anything they had done as brothers. Love trumps all, whether it be between brothers or their love interests, this was a very heartwarming story.
HOLY CRAP!!!
OMG! Wow, this is one quick, fast paced read that takes you by surprise and left wondering “WHAT IN THE WORLD”? I have to hand it to Bree for pulling this one off. Cudos. Thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the historical novel The Wrong Brother:A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 1) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Bree Wolf does it again! The words flow effortless on the page relating the love between twin brothers Robert and Charles and how they deal with the forbidden love that starts between Robert and Isabella on the day Charles marries Isabella. This is a well written short and Sweet romance that starts out as many regency romance with a marriage based on friendship and respect. The Wrong Brother is both poignant and heart warming at the same time. Truly an excellent start to the series.
Enjoyable and easy to read.
This book was clean, short, and simple.
It was a too simple for me; bordering on unbelievable, ridiculous, and silly.
They fall madly in love with each other (willing to give up everything) after looking at each other across the room.
I read this book with mixed emotions. Whilst it was well written with all the pathos of a difficult situation, moral issues left me feeling conflicted. However, having lived through some life changing situations, I have learned to have compassion and realise that not everything in life is black and white. When Isabelle and Robert’s eyes meet right after she has said “I do” to his twin brother, the earth moved for both of them. I felt their anguish and the pain of the dilemma facing them. The ultimate solution, whilst not ideal, did bring the star crossed lovers relief. That being said, the book is clean and intensely romantic and whilst part of a series, is nevertheless a standalone with a happy ending.
What a terrible thing to have happen. Can you imagine, you just said “I do” and you turn around and fall head over heels in love with your husband’s twin brother?
This was such an amazing story with fabulous characters. It was so easy to read and follow and I just loved every moment of this first novella in this series and am very happy to recommend it to you. Enjoy!
